Milk lab has some of my favorite milk tea! Boba kinda felt like it was undercooked but besides that super tasty!

So happy there is a boba place closer to me now! Milk Lab is a slightly upscale version of your typical boba place, which results in higher prices. They don't have as much variety as other boba places, but they do offer "milk cap tea" which seems to be trending these days. When I came a second time, they had added more drink options, so perhaps they are working on expanding their menu. I tried the black tea with milk cap, and it was really delicious, but complicated to drink. I also felt like the drink was too sweet. They do have the option to customize your sweetness, I just didn't notice until after I ordered. Next time I would go with minimal sweetness. They also package their teas in really fancy cups, which I think is unnecessary and it drives up the cost big time (~$6 for a drink is way too high!) The star at Milk Lab is really the rolled ice cream. I tried the Cookie Monster with matcha ice cream as the base and it was REALLY good. It was really good quality matcha flavor. You get unlimited toppings, which I think makes it worth the price. One order is more than enough ice cream for two people, so definitely bring someone to share with. The place has been really crowded every time I have been, so be prepared to wait for seating, or grab your treats to go. read more

Cute place to post IG pics/Snapchat of the aesthetic drinks and ice creams with their cute names. The place seems to be always busy (customers and employees) since it's rare to have rolled ice cream in this area. I had the strawberry matcha latte, didn't know what to expect but it wasn't of my liking, too sweet, not cold enough (too little ice in order to keep the different densities separated) but the strawberry bits were a nice touch. I like the option to have lactose milk and one bathroom per gender. The workers seem to be working half energized on making those ice cream (maybe because I'm spoiled by living in a city where rolled ice cream is no longer a hype).. besides the pretty drinks for pictures, I can't find another reason to revisit this spot read more

A friend informed me that a new bubble tea spot had opened and that I should definitely check it out...so of course I did! I love a good bubble tea! I didn't expect it to also be an ice cream spot; but when I checked yelp and found out there's ice cream here, I knew it would be somewhere I could easily convince my kiddo to try with me. The rolled ice cream is a great show to watch! It's not simply like cold stone where toppings are mixed with pre-made ice cream, it starts with cream here on a super cold tray that transforms the liquid to a solid (hey! I got some science experience for my kiddo today! Haha). They mix it up, flatten it all out, then scrape up the ice cream into a bunch of neat rolls. And then you can add a bunch of toppings (cookies, candy, whipped cream, etc.) to add to the work of art you're about to enjoy. I wasn't even offered a taste of the ice cream my kiddo enjoyed, so I'm pretty sure it was absolutely amazing and perfect ;) As for the tea, I had a black milk tea with boba, the standard first order I have at any bubble tea spot. Overall, it had a bit too much milk for my preference, but I'm sure I could request less milk next time. The boba was a little softer than I prefer, but not way over or undercooked. The tea flavor was hard to really get all the nuances with all the milk, but it seemed fresh. The employees were very friendly and interacted well with my kiddo too. The establishment has a few tables and bar seating. They do have a nice glass window to watch the ice cream production which is fun. There are supposed to be more tea options coming soon, and I'm hoping to perfect a drink order here so I can take my kiddo on some mommy-daughter dates here! read more

It's on the expensive side for bubble tea no doubt. BUT it's the best in the area so I guess it has its value. Love the foamy top top, I thought I had to go back home to Seattle and stop by 85C to get that stuff but now I don't have to go far. Rolled ice-cream with endless topping was delicious. I loved the gummy worms in particular. I wish they had mochi as a topping! And more egg pudding! They ran out when I was there after dinner on a Saturday. read more

This place has amazing, authentic, and reasonably priced bubble tea, where we come here often and are never disappointed! My go to is the brown sugar boba, but other drinks are also great. Stopping by here is definitely a must if you're looking for bubble tea. Plus they're open during Covid-19 as well, which is great. read more

It is a fun surprise to find this cute place hidden in the corner of a strip mall. My friend and I met here as the store was opening up at 11:30 AM and we were the only ones there. Within 30 minutes, there was a line of people waiting to place their orders. I ordered the Oolong milk tea with boba and my friend ordered the Jasmine Green Milk Cap tea. My tea was perfect - not too sweet with a strong (but not too strong) flavor of real Oolong tea. My friend said her Milk Cap tea was a bit sweet and rich (the milk Cap is made with cream cheese) and was more like a dessert than a cup of tea. It was a fun place to hang out with a friend. The drinks come in cute reusable plastic cups. I wished there was a recycling bin to throw my cup away as I left. read more

Okay I am seriously obsessed with this place. First let me say from the outside of the building you don't expect much- it's in a random shopping center. Then you look at the menu and you are totally confused what to order. Basically (in my book at least) there are two options- Milk Capp Tea or Rolled ice cream. Milk Cap tea is amazing if its your first time I encourage you to go with strawberry and oolong tea as your base. Probably going to be the most expensive tea you have ever paid for- about $7 but totally worth it! You can add toppings for only .05 cent, I suggest going with the Boba. What they do is blend actually strawberry into your tea base put Boba and top it with this sweet milk foam. I don't even like milk and I was totally liking the cap to make sure I got every last drop because it was so good. The Rolled ice cream is actually based out of Thailand. They take your ice cream base and put it on this Nitrogen Bin and roll it. Its a lot of hard work (those workers are building some serious are muscles) and because each one is personally made you can expect a wait especially on a weekend night. You get unlimited toppings on your ice cream. And I just want to shout out how much I appreciate how CLEAN they were. Instead of having the toppings open so every little kid with grubby hands can touch everything and sneeze on it (yeah...l I am not a major fan of buffets) they keep it behind the counter and a GLOVED worker puts as many topping that you want on your ice cream. read more

AND they've switched up their system toppings wise so you don't have to yell over the glass, they ask you what you'd like at the side and top it there. Those were my only complaints before. Was busy in there today because it's so hot out but service was great and super fast. Nice little rolled ice cream and tea cafe that recently opened! Glad I popped in for a visit. The food: I got the Campfire Delight. Beautiful presentation! They toast the marshmallow with a little blowtorch. The UNLIMITED TOPPINGS is a huge bonus. Everything was well-mixed and yummy. The atmosphere: Clean and simple in feel. A few little tables will accommodate small groups. Doesn't look like a place you will linger for too long during busy times. Service: Very nice staff served us with smiles. The price: A little pricey, $7+ for the rolled ice cream. You're basically paying for the experience and presentation. Overall, worth checking out! Not going to lie, I had no clue what this place was for the first 7 months I lived a minute away from it. After looking it up, I immediately went to try it! I didn't realize Thai ice cream was a thing in the South because it only became popular in the North in recent years. I've been looking for a good place to get bubble tea in NC that isn't Kung Fu Tea and I've definitely found it with Milk Lab. This new place has a variety of options for boba drinks and they also do rolled ice cream! With the rolled ice cream, there are so many options. You can pick from more fruity flavors like mango or strawberry to more indulgent flavors like oreo or smores. My personal favorite is the kimochi, which is either a matcha or vanilla based mixed in with strawberries. You can get toppings on your rolled ice cream. The best part is that THE TOPPINGS ARE UNLIMITED!! The employees do an amazing job of decorating what you ask for and make it definitely insta-worthy. As for the milk tea, I'm a HUGE fan of the milk cap tea. The soft salted cream (made with cream cheese, milk, and pink sea salt) that sits at the top of the tea goes so well with the tea's herbal flavor and sweetness. If you haven't had a milk cap tea before, it reminds me of a latte that has the foam on top. I'd definitely recommend trying the milk cap tea if you're here. If you're looking for a good milder tea, try the Jasmine Green. If you want a stronger tea, try the Oolong or Ceylon Black. I'm not a huge fan of the strawberry styled teas here and that's because they grind up strawberries and add it to your drink rather than using a syrup, which makes messes with the tea's texture. The prices here are a little high for me but Milk Lab has definitely become a staple in my must-have desserts (both for their ice cream and bubble tea). Pro tip: Go before dinner or later into the night (right before closing). It's usually pretty packed right after dinner and you might find yourself waiting in line or for seating. read more

Milklab is one of the best boba and rolled ice cream place in RTP! Having had boba all over the country, I've hit up every Chinatown in the US (New York, Chicago, DC, Boston, LA, etc) this is actually in my top 3. The drinks: they have a wide variety and you can't go wrong with any. The boba is perfect, not too chewy, not too hard, and tastes perfectly balanced. The ice cream: it takes a little longer but that's because they are made to order. The portion sizes are on the generous side, I usually share with someone. We enjoyed our experience here for the most part. The ice cream was presented very nicely and had a really good fresh flavor. I ordered the cookie monster with coffee ice cream. I thought it was a little odd that it didn't come with any toppings by default you have to pick them so make sure you know what you want! I got mine with a cookie, pocky, and whipped cream. The serving size is quite large - I couldn't finish mine. I wish you could order a smaller size. My fiance got something with strawberry mixed in and he said he wishes they had used a bit more strawberry because it still tasted very milky. Awesome bubble tea and great service! I got a rose oolong milk tea with milk cap and it was very solid. The person I was with got a Hong Kong-style milk tea and IMO it's the best Hong Kong-style milk tea in the area. Not completely like the real thing at cha chaan tengs ofc but the best in the area. If you'd really like it less sweet, probably skip the condensed milk in general and just have it with evaporated milk (the barista's suggestion). As a bonus, they're open later than most bubble tea shops so you can satisfy your after-dinner craving. read more

I think this place definitely lives up to the hype - for both the rolled ice cream and the milk cap tea! Milk cap tea review: The thai tea milk cap tea was just as the other reviewers stated...sweet but not too sweet and the saltiness from the milk cap definitely balanced out the sweet and salty. For this milk cap I enjoyed not mixing all the milk cap into the thai tea but slowly mixing it as I drank the tea. On another occasion I had the jasmine milk cap tea and cookie monster. The jasmine milk cap tea was just okay...I think I prefer the thai tea milk cap tea better I think this is more preference than anything else. For this tea I think mixing the milk cap with the tea is better than drinking separately. Rolled ice cream review: The kimochi ice cream (matcha + strawberry) combo was better than I expected. I would recommend it to any matcha lover. Add some mochi, fresh strawberries and pocky sticks and you are set! The cookie monster rolled ice cream was pretty delicious. The texture was interesting because it kept crumbling but otherwise was great. Service-wise everything came out pretty fast. They are definitely prepared for the rush on the weekends. I was on the fence with a 4 or 5 star review only because it is a tad pricey. I think its more like a 4.5 but I bumped it up to a 5 star because I have high hopes and expectations for MilkLab! Hecka-expensive if you don't have Cary income, but I can't deny the hustle of every person working in that store *and* the tasty treats they produce. A nice splurge. Just eh. I'm stuck between 3 and 4 stars because nothing was "bad" but I definitely wasn't impressed. I got black tea and added boba- it was SO sweet. I typically drink black tea because it's naturally unsweet, so I was a bit disappointed. Everything was a bit pricey- for tea and 2 cups of the rolled ice cream, I spent $20. No complaints with the taste of the ice cream, although it didn't blow me away. The staff was really nice and there were several tables to sit and enjoy your ice cream. I've tried both the rolled ice cream and the milk teas and they were great. Rolled ice cream (we had the matcha kimochi with strawberries) had a wonderful matcha flavor--which is not easy to find around here. The employees put a lot of effort in the presentation and our ice cream was beautiful! Even the way they slice the strawberries, you can tell they have a lot of attention to detail. I also tried the oolong milk cap and I didn't like it AS much. I've had milk cap teas before, at Gong Cha (another famous boba chain from Taiwan) and compared to that, the one at Milk Lab was too salty for my liking. Even after mixing the milk cap into the tea, it still left too much of a rich salt flavor for my personal taste. I heard their other teas are great though. I also appreciate the aesthetic of the cups they use for the tea. Very cool design! Only downside is the PRICING. geez this place is expensive. We only ordered the ice cream rolls to try since i've never had it before. But at the steep price of around $7, for ONE little cup of pretty ice cream? I'm not getting it again anytime soon. Same for the teas---I'd much rather go to KFT or quickly for my boba fix, only because they literally cost HALF as much. read more

They opened a couple of weeks ago and I am glad I stopped by to try their milk tea. It's located in a small plaza, so there's plenty of parking around. When I stopped by there was a line out the door. The line moved fast enough that we were ordering in 5 minutes. We ordered the milk tea with boba. They have a couple of people working on teas and 2 other people working on rolled ice cream that look like roses with toppings. There are tables but those were full when we came to visit. Anyway, the milk tea was great and not too sweet. The boba was the perfect texture and was pleasant to chew on them. I will definitely come back and try their rolled ice cream! read more

Incredible bubble tea! Definitely one of the best in the area, maybe even one of the best I've ever had. After reading the reviews, I ordered the strawberry oolong tea with milk cap and boba. It was just as incredible as everyone makes it sound. The milk cap is something new that I've never had before, and it's great. It's essentially a mixture of cream cheese, whole milk, and cream that's added to the top of your tea,m. This is used instead of normal milk, which is typically mixed in with the tea (another option that you can order here). The strawberries are fresh and blended in so well. I can't wait to come again! Milk Lab needs an award for the best ice cream. I have gotten the birthday cake ice cream and the Thai tea with tapioca pearls. The birthday cake ice cream is THE BEST ice cream ever! I have literally never had ice cream better than Milk Lab's. I like that they allow unlimited free toppings. Sadly, I cannot recommend the Thai tea because it has a bitter aftertaste and I wish that the tapioca was less hard and more sweet.
