Parking can be tricky. Half the spaces were diagonal and the rest required parallel parking. Fortunately, there were not many cars on the lot. Since my last visit years ago, I forgot about the religious, whimsical decor. The signage on the exterior provided ample warning. Several minutes after I was inside, the decor was easily ignored. I ordered the Chorizo & Eggs and opted for corn tortillas. Since I would eat the tortillas by themselves, corn was preferably to flour. The scrambled eggs dish, sliced potatoes and the four medium tortillas was ample for breakfast. I was able to finish everything without being too stuffed. The salsa provided additional flavor without being spicy. Although I did not mind, the amount of diced cheese may be overwhelming. The coffee was amazing. I finished my first cup before the waitress had a chance to take my order. By the time my meal was served, I needed a second refill. Thanks to a random Google search requesting best breakfast in Lewisville in close proximity to Costco, we found this place. I can't remember the last time a Google search brought me so much happiness. The waiter was very nice and quick. He asked if we had any questions but after flipping to the approximately 4th page of the menu and noticed the Redneck Benedict & potatoes, I was sold. Fluffy biscuit topped with a sausage patty on each half, an egg Benedict and topped with sausage gravy. This was perfection!!!! The potatoes were cooked perfectly as well with just the right amount of crispy and soft. I felt as if I was sitting in someone's grammas kitchen. I highly recommend the Redneck Benedict's and am telling anyone who is willing to listen. read more

Great people and great food! This place has become my goto breakfast and lunch place.

It took us a minute to find (being that we're not from the area) and Yelp gives awful directions! But as our last meal in Texas, this was the most solid breakfast I had! The grits were the perfect consistency and the bacon was crisp (without having to request it). This is definitely the kinda spot I'd patronize regularly if I lived in the Dallas area! Love finding new small diners for breakfast, unfortunately this one didn't quite make the cut. Seat yourself. There wasnt an wait on a Tuesday morning around 9 a.m. the place itself seemed very clean. Ordered the $3.99 special that comes with 1 egg, potatoes and 2 biscuits with gravy. I ordered the egg scrambled well and it came out easy with lots of "watery-ness". The potatoes were good but seemed like they would complement a lunch/dinner item better like fried pork chops. I ordered plain cream gravy instead of the sausage gravy and it comes on top of the biscuits for you already... So needless to say they get soggy quick and was barely lukewarm. The biscuit flavor was good but they were the same consistency as a new sponge, not soft like a sponge cake, but like chewy like if you tried to eat an actual cleaning sponge. The gravy had a bit of an off taste, kind of sour. I also ordered coffee, which was OK but tasted kind of burnt. And got a coffee and water to go. She brought me just a cup to put in my remaining coffee which wasn't much (that had been my first and only glass as well) when I asked her to top it off she splashed a tiny bit in there and walked away. This kind of upset me because it wasn't like I'm trying to get a bunch of free stuff. I paid $1.00 something for coffee in which I only got not even a full one cup. Normally (when the coffee is good) I have at least 3 cups along with my breakfast, so I didn't think asking to have my 1 cup I didn't even finish to be topped off all the way, as well as just a cup for my SAME water I've been drinking would be a problem. The service was 50/50. They were nice, but didn't really seem to be concerned about the customers needs, they say is everything alright but keep walking away before you can even ask them for anything. They would realize oh she actually is needing something and have to walk back. And I could understand if they were busy but it was not. Might give it another try for lunch but definitely will not be returning for breakfast. read more

Great local family run business. No frills, low prices, and great quality for the price. I got the chicken fried steak. It was great. Smaller diameter than most, but thicker, so you're not just eating a plate of batter. The batter was nice and flaky, and the gravy was good too. My fried okra was good too. Crispy batter and not greasy. Green beans tasted like they came out of a can, but that's typical. Corn bread was fresh, but kinda crumbly. My server and other staff were friendly and attentive (I was also there near closing, so the place wasn't too busy). Business is friendly to bikers, and has a sign on the front door that states their support for strong American values. That's pretty ballsy, as it could be polarizing to some... First time customer experience. Took two children with me. A toddler and a 4th grader. Son's school was out for the day so we had an outing and wanted to grab a bite to eat at a place we never tried before. My son and I are on this kick of trying lots of new places. So this review will have my perspective as well as my oldest child. We liked the fact this place was a small local family business in the heart of Old town Lewisville. Its real easy to miss so drive slow and get ready to turn. Parking lot wraps around the back and back up other side. so dont get confused or worried if immediate turn in is full. They do have a sign on the door and while their views most likely dont align with my own i took into consideration the fact it was a generic sign that seemed more to express they are christian. This sign i must point out did not say that others are not welcome. but i can certainly see how its a bit off putting and its certainly tacky. the decor was very much one persons individual style. not really a restaurant. i like the small town feel. ive been in a quite a few real rural diners in my life and this was really trying to pull on that. but it fell a bit flat with too many personal item and signs. The place really picked up for lunch and i suspect they are very busy early in the morning. 10-11am is more slow. The place was clean. carpet on the floor so i cringed a bit knowing my toddler would of course cover the carpet in food. (which i picked up with napkins before we left ) They have both booth and table seating. all of which is dated but that fits the old timey feel of the place. still it was all clean. the place smelled like food cooking and bacon frying but not over powering. made my mouth water. The waitress (told me her name but i forgot). short dark hair. she was great. she really moved around the restaurant. she was the only wait staff i saw then it got busy and a saw a gentleman out taking orders as well. the waitress was super accommodating. you could tell she was genuine in wanting everyone to be satisfied with their food. I got a blue plate special and it was a really good deal. Chicken fried chicken was the size of the average chicken breast. the fry batter on it was thick and stuck to the chicken. the gravy was amazing. i read some reviews the gravy was bad. today was delicious. i got sliced fresh tomato. and it was very fresh and sweet. and fried okra. the okra was good. a little soggy. honestly this had me feeling like it might have been a frozen pre made variety. if its not then my apologies. but it was still good. and my toddler ended up eating several pieces. over all my meal was a perfect portion for the price and left me full but not feeling like i over ate. oh my biscuit was not awesome. it was dense and bland even though it had butter and jam. it had a weird taste and i couldn't eat much of it at all. My toddler had kids breakfast order. (pancake, bacon, scrambled egg) She was in a mood so i cant really judge her experience. she ate the eggs. shes always weird about meats. and the pancake she refused to try. i tried it and so did my son. we both thought it was huge. fluffy. and very good. i ate her bacon before we left and it was so crispy. not fatty and chewy. like some places. My son first picked biscuits and gravy and changed his mind to grilled ham and cheese with fries. the sandwich came loaded with meat and cheese and grilled perfectly. not soggy. he just kept making "yum" noises and telling me its the best. his fries were obviously sliced and fried in house. not pre done fries. he loved that. The sweet tea was not "sweet". it was a bit bitter and there was a LOT of tea residue in the bottom of our glasses. the grainy stuff from the actual tea that collects. in my personal experience this is from the tea machine/brewer or whatever is being used to make tea. its not being changed out or cleaned. just more tea added. this is make your tea bitter over time because its too stout. So there is room to improve. but i would not write this restaurant off either. they clearly have loyal customers It was also very cold and rainy out but inside was warm and cozy. i hate cold restaurants. read more

My wife and I have been looking for a good breakfast diner, and we found the spot! This diner brought home the feels. I'm from the country, and this place made me feel lIke I was back at home. My wife ordered the short stack with a side of eggs, and I ordered the big eater. Our meals came out about 10 after we ordered. The pancakes were thick, fluffy and full of flavor. The bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast were great. The only complaint was the sausage seemed like it was pulled out of the freezer. It was super dry and not much flavor. The coffee was good and I received plenty of refills to keep it hot. Overall, I gave this place 5 stars for the great service, good food, and good conversation! read more

This is a jewel of a little place. It's very easy to drive by and not notice it. I drove by it and I was looking for it. The dining room is small but very comfortable. The decor gives off a feeling like your sitting in a friend's kitchen. The menu has very extensive selections. I had a hard time deciding between breakfast and lunch and my wife and I both went with breakfast. My wife's omlet was big and full of cheese and ingredients. I had the "Big Eater", 3 eggs, toast, potatos, bacon, sausage and huge pancakes. I am a big eater but this one did me in. It was more than I could eat. Everything tasted very good though the pancakes were a little heavier than I prefer. I absolutely loved the breakfast potatos. This is an excellent choice for breakfast or lunch. We were duped by the 4 star rating. Here's the honest truth, this is a quaint rustic local diner. Decor is old school and clean. Menu is short but covers the basics. Prices are very reasonable. I ordered pancakes with bacon and husband ordered an omelette. There was nothing outstanding nor awful. I really dislike the Texas sized pancake because to get them cooked the pancake is chewy and dry. My preference is a light pancake which is hard to find anywhere including here. The only real issue was the sugar free syrup being Walmart brand. Seriously tasted terrible. Server was very nice. If you are looking for an inexpensive old school diner this will work but this is not a 4-star diner. read more
