2/20/2023: I specifically visited Mill Valley Market for coffee; dispensers were EMPTY!!!

2/20/2023: I specifically visited Mill Valley Market for coffee; however, all the coffee dispensers were disappointingly empty. Aside, I noticed Mill Valley Market's Patrons eating their deli meals outside . . . Which IMHO, the deli selection didn't appeal to my tastes at all. Overall, Mill Valley Market's grocery selection is small; however, I didn't notice a plethora of organic produce or products.

Delicious made to order sandwiches. The dessert choices are to die for! Love that they have lots of individual servings to choose from. I had the butternut squash soup. Very flavorful. It's my go to place for lunch after a hike! Friendly service and the store is always clean!

    Do not buy this wine!

This wine was recommended by the staff-had a nice write up..."6 generations" blah blah blah. But had high rating from this staff and like to support local growers. Literally so much added sugar I couldn't even drink a glass. Spent $100 and was the worst bottle I've ever had. Tried calling multiple times to have the store take down the hand written blue sign recommending this bottle. Shame on you seriously. Yes I did spend 100 on a bottle of wine, but you just lost my business forever. Stop carrying this crap or take it to $30 which is the appropriate price for this garbage. Beware of this store's overpriced propaganda! Never again!

This is the cutest grocery store that combines local and gourmet goods. We popped in here after a hike and were on the hunt for lunch. We got one sandwich and some chili. Everything was pretty good, but not amazing (3-4 stars for the food), but we ended up doing some grocery shopping as well and that was 5 star quality. They have a great butcher and fresh veg. To note they have a fair amount of outdoor seating, however, it was raining so we had a car picnic!

We only stopped by for a sandwich and chips. I ended up buying some cheeses too and they had a nice variety. The Sammie's were delicious and they had a wide variety. The con is space is limited and it can be busy on a weekend. If you can place your order in advance that will help.

The deli here is awesome! Great place to refuel after a hike. Great selection of sandwiches for everyone. Grab a drink and sit outside. Will definitely be back.

The food offerings at this establishment are highly enjoyable. The staff members are courteous, and the overall ambiance of the market is quite delightful.

Tuesday, August 4, 2020. During our "Therapy Tuesday" hike, we were headed to Muir Woods and my former boss, who used to live in the North Bay, wanted to grab a bite to eat before the hike and told us to stop at downtown Mill Valley. Appropriately named Mill Valley Market, we moseyed on through and headed towards the deli counter. Now being in Marin County, I immediately noticed their products were more on the upscale part and high-end items from caviar, mousse, pate, smoked salmon, cold cuts, wines and cheese. I expected the sandwiches to be on the pricier side, but to my surprise, most were under ten bucks - and they have 'The Daily Deal' special of Pastrami Sammich for $6.99. My other friend and I both chose 'The Daily Deal' and got everything with it, which had tomatoes, lettuce, onion, mayo, Swiss cheese and several slices of pastrami with your choice of bread. You also have the option of having add-ons and meat and cheese toasted. I opted to have mine cold while my friend chose the latter. We ended up eating half of the sandwich just outside a small park and saved the other half for the hike. It's not a humongous sandwich, but it was pretty good for the price point. Besides, it was very tasty and adequate. For $6.99, it was a good sandwich and they also had other kinds of sandwiches, which looked just as good. If you're in a rush, they also have other pre-made sandwiches, wraps, salads and other to-go foods available at the counter. If you want a picnic that's a little bit fancier, or some snacks on the road, they have plenty of items to choose from. It's a nice neighborhood market with lots of history and plenty of charm. Wouldn't mind paying them another visit the next time we're headed to Muir Woods, Mt. Tam and Muir Beach.

Love the market!! This is a place for rich folks and tourists alike. We ordered two sandwiches for lunch along with two salads for the following day. It was over $50. We also looked around the store. Prices were crazy, for example, black beans were $4.59 a can and peaches were $8 a pound. Local folks were actually doing their regular shopping. The sandwiches were excellent and fresh. The salads were just okay. Another interesting fact about the Market is you have to pay to park.

This is one of those places that just kind of feels like home…read more I've been stopping by this market for as long as I've been hiking in the Golden Gate Area, which is over a decade. Some of Good Earth's items are on the super pricy side, but some are also reasonable. The deli and bakery items are usually pretty good. This was the first place I ever found Sjaak's chocolate. Sadly, they no longer exist, but I used to always stop by for their Hearts of Cherry after hiking around Mt Tam. Today I stopped by for whatever looked good enough to buy, which happened to be a pesto chicken calzone from the hot deli case, a slice of chocolate cake that looked too good to be $5, some roma tomatoes, and a blueberry banana water. The pesto chicken calzone had decent flavor, but it literally had like half a cup of grilled onions on it. Like, there was an entire opaque layer of grilled onion. Adding onions to compensate for less meat is one of the oldest Italian tricks in the book, and is the basis of many great recipes. In this case, it was a little much. Also, the crust didn't have any flavor, but for $10, for this area, it wasn't bad. The chocolate cake was the worst chocolate cake I've ever had in my life. It should have been labeled "iced biscotti," because that's about how dry it was. After a few bites, I had to double check to make sure I didn't accidentally grab an expired piece. It was so dry!! Okay, so, the cake was a mistake, but everything else was good. Their fresh deli pizzas looked AMAZING, but I did not take one home. Overall, the store is very clean, well lit, and merchandised nicely. My only issue is the twinkie sized stall in the ladies room, with a door that opens inward, trapping anyone who is greater than four inches in diameter between the toilet and the door. Sometimes you seriously have to wonder what kind of psychopath designed women's public restrooms. It's like, if you are larger than an actual Barbie doll, good luck getting in and out without touching the public toilet! So, I actually made two separate purchases. First, I purchased the calzone, and took it back to my car to eat. Noticing that I was surrounded by Teslas and eating disorders, I put up my sunshades so that I could eat in peace, without becoming a TikTok reel. After I finished eating, as I was lowering my sunshade, I caught the man parked next to me in the act of taking a video of me, anyway! My car is ugly enough to make a classist person assume that I'm a homeless person, which I'm sure is what happened in this case. Maybe he was planning to post it on social media as an example of how homeless people were ruining his life. When he saw a nicely dressed woman in a brand new, pretty dress (me) he looked shocked. I looked back and forth between him and his phone which was pointed at me, and glared. He lowered the phone and stared at me, wide eyed and jaw dropped, as if he wanted to explain. I glared at him as hard as I could. Classist rich people harass me like this all the time. As a formerly homeless person, I know that in reality, there's no such thing as "looking homeless." People who "look homeless" are usually housed and struggling with mental health issues, while homeless people who live in shelters are usually very well-groomed. But tell that to the classist rich person who thinks it's funny to take videos of other people and post them on the internet to mock them. I wish it was illegal to do that, but it's not. So if I'm posted on "homeless people of Marin" or something, that's what's up, even though I'm very much housed and employed. A calzone with a side of classism. Not the store's fault. But irritating none the less.

In that sense, it's a good clutch market for those items. The store itself is small but laid out well. I really like the produce that they have outside, it gives small town vibes. Where Nugget lacks is in customer service. I have yet to meet a friendly or happy looking employee. I feel like this is something I've noticed more lately. On my trip today, the man stocking the produce had his cart in the middle of the produce section, so there was really no way to get anything. I asked him if I could slip in and quickly grab a few things, and he made a really off putting comment about if I could see he was working, etc. Yikes. I've also been rung up before where the cashier just is on auto pilot, no hello, no small chit chat. Nugget, you carry things we like, and you're close to our home. Can you please give your employees some customer service training, or some reasons to feel joyful? TIA!

I live two blocks away, so me and my partner are there enough that most employees know us by sight. I recently broke my right wrist and sprained my left shoulder (Actually on the broken sidewalk behind Whole Foods lol). I was at the self checkout, on the phone with my elderly mother. The employee on duty, a heavy, balding, late middle aged man with a grey goatee just stood there as I dropped an item (a bar of soap!) and watched me struggle to pick it up without so much as acknowledging my existence. I made a joking remark to my mother about it, paid and started to leave. Then he decided to start waving his arms and demanding I come back as if I'd robbed a bank. He was as loud and attention getting as he could be. He tells me to pay for my items. I look at the register and it said "Approved". I pointed this out to him and begin to leave. Instead of apologizing, he says loudly "I guess you're lucky!" That's when I knew it was over. Anyone who knows this store knows it's like an abusive relationship. They take you for granted, treat you like crap and just assume you will keep coming back. They don't make an effort to put it nicely. Well, I'm done. Ever since I met Good Earth, I've felt ashamed to keep returning to Whole Foods just out of convenience. I can't help but think his behavior was based on the fact that l have tattoos and facial piercings. Of course, they will still take my money. So that's it Whole Foods. The last straw. I'm leaving you for Good Earth and never looking back. I hope that if you decide to see them, that they will treat you better. But don't say I didn't warn you. Minus 10 stars, Karen C
