I had taken it first to another place that told me they fixed it but that it was corroded and needed some winding to loosen it up. I discovered it was a quartz watch that needed no winding. The place unscrupulously had charged me $68 for the so-called repair. Chicago opened it up for me while I was there and found a gnarly rubber gasket that I had probably messed up myself trying to wind a battery powered watch. The technician should rightly have called me an idiot but instead just fixed it in 2 minutes, He did not want to charge me anything. I insisted on giving him at least a $20 tip which he reluctantly but appreciatively accepted. This is the kind of business I respect and will patronize again and again going forward.

One visit he was kind enough to show me some watches that he was working on which only further proved how many people trusted him. He will be missed. I always look at this thing or that, mostly trying to placate her in her search for the next "treasure" but this time the very first thing I picked up was a metal pitcher that might work to serve water. My years going to these places finally paid off when I turned it upside down and saw the all important word... STERLING. There was a box behind this piece filled with odds and ends, all similar of silver metal, most with the word sterling across the bottom, or side. Mom said I hit it big and who was I to argue, I've watched the prices of gold go through the roof, why wouldn't it impact silver as well.... This place Americash is right next to my car dealer, so I stopped in. I have to say I felt kind of important with the offering of drinks, chocolate and all. Way better than the waiting room at the dealership that I had just left. Anyway, I'm giving these folk a top rating because they couldn't have been more informative. With no feeling of pressure, I sold the whole lot for an amount I felt was truly ridiculous. Mom said I should have shopped the number, but I got a good vib here. I actually just made plans with Mom to make my second "run" with her in as many weeks. I'm either getting old or something but either way, the treasure bug should did bite me good. I'll be back.
