This is probably my third time here and never a disappointed. One of my east coast friends was passing thu SF on a cruise, so we spend the day together and started out here. We both ordered pancakes with a side of bacon. THe pancakes are always really good and fluffy and I like my bacon crispy, which I got by request. My friend, Ms. Gloria who was cruising to celebrate her 80th birthday, completely enjoyed her breakfast as well. She said it was a great way to start off her tour of the area. I had a great experience at Millbrae Pancake House! The service was excellent they truly went above and beyond when there was an issue with my order. They fixed it right away and even let me take home the corrected order at no extra charge, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The pancakes are delicious! Millbrae Pancake House is definitely up there with the best breakfast spots. I grew up local to the area but this one place I could never outgrow. If you have to wait for a seat, you'll get a number. So stay close to hear your number called. But once seated, the menu is big but simple. They highlight the pancakes but don't skip over the waffles and their other special items. My go-to is always the chicken fried steak. It's steak, battered and fried like chicken. The eggs are cooked to your preference. I have to say the potato hash are my least favorite. Only the outside is crunchy, the inside is just soft, mushy potatoes. But when you eat it all together, it's still pretty good. Instead of toast, I opt in for 2 buttermilk pancakes so I get best of both worlds. My waitress was on top of filing my coffee to make sure I had a hot cup. I took my mom here recently after she got some blood work done. It was pretty busy as usual (who doesn't come here), and we ordered coffee, and I got the banana pancakes. For this review specifically, I would have gone 5 stars, but the gentleman serving drinks gave us warm coffee, instead of freshly hot. He did fix the mistake, but it took almost 10-12 mins for him to notice us flagging him down for the issue to get fixed. I still really enjoy this place, and will continue to come back! Classic Millbrae establishment. The wait was about 10 minutes on a rainy Monday President's Day at 9:15pm. We had 2x California omelettes $18 each, supreme omelette $18 and coffee $4. The food came out reasonably quick. It tasted fine. It is cool how pancakes are included or toast if you order the omelettes. Service was lacking. Our waiter disappeared for half an hour. Luckily another waiter was able to helped us with coffee and water refills. But since our waiter wasn't around, we had to wait at least 15 minutes for the check so that we could pay. If you're this popular, with over 3.5K reviews on Yelp, I think it's fair to hold you to a higher standard. They drive a lot of traffic. I came with a couple friend who loves this place for the pancakes. I'll admit, I like the Swedish pancakes too. They're thin, almost crepe like, and much lighter than traditional buttermilk. I haven't had them like this in my memory. You don't find that style everywhere. That said, the rest of the meal didn't land. My hot link sausages were oily and overwhelmingly spicy, without much other flavor coming through. My eggs were closer to medium than over easy, and one of my friend's plates had one yolk runny and the other fully firm. I expect myself to cook eggs like this not a chef. The hash browns on both plates were very overcooked and dry, very tough to get through, unenjoyable. Other friend described her omelet as bland, and after trying a bite, I agreed. A bit more seasoning would go a long way. I say this hoping it encourages more consistent quality control. With the volume they handle, it feels like there should be a tighter check to prevent these kinds of slips. How about every 30 plates pushed out have a chef inspect the product. It was Valentine's Day, which I wasn't thinking about but had a wait. We checked in at 12:08 and were seated at 12:55. While their buttermilk pancakes are what they're known for, they are on the thicker side, so I prefer their swedish pancakes. We've been coming here for decades. The Swedish pancakes are awesome! It's always super busy. We came here on a Sunday morning about 930am, and luckily we were seated very quickly. I've had quite a few different items on their menu. I really only have 2 negative comments. 1. The coffee is a bit weak. 2. I generally stay away from the "Specials" on their menu (My wife got the #1 in the picture). $14.75 seems pricey for what you get. The specials are: #1 - 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage, choice of toast, buttermilk or Swedish pancakes - if you choose the Swedish, that's probably your best value (NO HASH BROWNS) #2 - 2 eggs, hash browns, choice of toast, buttermilk or Swedish pancakes (NO MEAT) #3 - Waffle, 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage (To me, this is the only one worth ordering...but no hash browns). Technically, they should just get rid of this option and add waffle as one of the choices for #1 #4 - Cup of fruit, 2 eggs, choice of buttermilk or Swedish pancakes (NO MEAT OR HASH BROWNS) And as you can see in the picture (taken before the toast came), when the plates come to you, the #1 doesn't look very hearty. A couple of pieces of ham and even fewer bell peppers and onions. For over $17, I expected more and better. The original pancakes were also dry and not very good at all. For a place known for its pancakes, it was a total disappointment. The one good thing was their hashbrowns. Very nice and crispy. As I got the tobasco sauce and ketchup, the bottles were extremely sticky. I went there early in the morning so they must not have cleaned it from the day before. Went here on Easter Sunday with my girlfriend and her dad. It was my first time here and I enjoyed it a lot! It was very busy with the whole place filled up, but we were seated within 5 minutes and got a nice spot in a booth. Servers were very nice and checked in on us a lot. I got the Louisiana hot links with eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, as were the hash browns brings golden & crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The BEST in the business! Long time jewel of the Peninsula and for good reason. The service and attention you get is above and beyond! So much so that you have staff "fighting" over who's going to take your order and that is rare to see in other restaurants.
