They have a very large menu - Got the pancakes but sadly wasn't impressed BUT .... The Eggs Benedict- was awesome and I'd order it again. & again Huevos Rancho was huge and great flavor also added to the re- order list! Have been wanting to check out Stacks for a while but haven't had an opportunity until now and boy, were we impressed! I called ahead on a Thurs to ask how busy they were and if there was wheelchair accessible seating and the staff who answered the phone said they weren't busy at all and tables were available to accommodate us. (I was calling on the road and we were about 5 mins away ;)) Upon arriving, we found lot parking that was adjacent to Stacks and luckily, there were a few disabled spots available. Upon entering the restaurant, my wife and I immediately had 'throwback' feels for this place. The decor and ambiance clearly brought nostalgic vibes for us and really showed us how long the restaurant had been around. Cintia, our server, was also super friendly and helpful; placed us in an area that was easily accessible for my wife's transport chair. We were seated at a very nice section so we could enjoy the atmosphere and decor. The food, in a word, AMAZING!! The omelette and crepe were huge portions and very tasty. Came on a Friday morning for breakfast, it was pretty crowded but we were seated within 5 minutes, which was nice. What we ordered: Beaters Scramble : scrambled eggs with broccoli, zucchini, onions, celery, mushrooms, and diced tomatoes, served with a dry wheat bagel. This was a great menu opt for me since I wanted to get more veggies in. scramble was well-seasoned and bagel was decent, nothing fancy but a nice pairing. Chicken Fried Steak : Topped with ground pork sausage & mushroom house gravy, plus scallions. Served with eggs & potatoes. The chicken could've been a bit crispier (probably softened from the gravy), but the gravy itself was rich and flavorful with nice bits of mushroom. The potatoes were tasty and not overly greasy. I walked in to order coffee and no one was at the register. I was acknowledged and was told someone would be with me shortly. However, after another associate came out from the back, the acknowledgment ended there. The associate immediately began making drinks, and no one communicated that customers were waiting to place orders or directed anyone to assist at the register. I waited for a while, expecting someone to come over or at least provide an update, but no one said anything. I went to treat myself and when I say absolutely delicious I loved the whole setup along with the kind hospitality. All of my food came out served hot and fresh and to have my syrup already hot and ready was a double plus I had Gabriel as my server and he stay on top of everything allowed me to eat and made sure I wasn't needed anything else. This is a very aesthetic cafe that feels like a nice diner to grab brunch at. There is a wide selection of sweet and savory dishes from omelettes, pancakes, crepes and sandwiches. The service was amazing. Servers were attentive and our food came out in less than 10 minutes. I was shocked by how fast they brought them out. The waffles were delicious and topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. It was fluffy, sweet and satisfied my waffle carvings. I would definitely come back and try the other waffles on the menu. My boyfriend had the mighty meat crepe and loved it although he didn't enjoy the side of potatoes and the bagel. He also ordered coffee and they give you the kettle to refill your cup. He was able to drink two hot cups of coffee. I was interested in the brunch cocktails but didn't order one this time. Come for the amazing food, expect the wait. Brunch is prime time at Stacks. This place has been serving up healthy eaters and hungry diners with me including since my first trip in 1994. I always wondered (prior to Yelp) if there was any other diners in Burlingame since it was always so busy here, now I know it is just one of the best. I have been know to plan trips to Northern California around if I can hit stacks at least a few times. When I do go, I relax, take my time, and understand that it took 45-90 minutes to get a table it is because they are busy. I expect the dining experience here to take 2 or 3 hours anyways. The triangle lot, tough parking, neighborhood feel, nice weather and atmosphere all contribute to each brunch event. read more

We drove all the way from Los Angeles to try this place. First of all, there's no wait. Second of all, there are two tables out side for 4 and 5, another table for 5. The guy told me that my whole party has to be there, I said alright. My party arrived minus 1 as she was looking for parking. And this guy was about to seat us when we told him that one was looking for parking, and he started saying in a loud voice that all our parties need to be there, and he's said it and it's the rules. if I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would, I went in initially booking a table for four he asked that all the parties were there before they could be seated, which is understandable and then went back in and said they were parking if we could be seated still refused seating which is fine again but this time the owner made a comment "I need to make money. I was so disgusted that if my food had not followed shortly, I was gonna leave this type of behavior made me so sick to my stomach, especially as a business owner, knowing everything that we're going through as a minority to treat your staff so disrespectful and openly just turned my stomach upside down. My original plan was to confront the owner of the restaurant in front of his whole restaurant to make him understand and have a little bit of embarrassment as he made this employee feel but instead, I decided to be respectful and pull him to the side and discuss how I felt the owner basically laughed it off and said this is normal. This is what happens in the industry. This is life. It happens instead of taking accountability and agreeing that he should've took his employee to the side. He was fully on board with reprimanding his employee in front of people he did not care about consequences as I told him that I found it to be very gross and disgusting. He said he didn't care. I urgently plead with the community of San Mateo ,community of San francisco to no longer give this man business. You have to treat your employees with respect. It's not about your rules.
