Disappointed. Have been there before and enjoyed our sloppy Joe sandwiches. However this past experience was not very satisfying. Had asked for the meats to be sliced very thin and they weren't. I can confidently say that the "MD Italian" is the worst italian sub I have ever had in my life. Extremely poor sandwich construction and embarrassing meat to bread ratio. I had my first sandwich today from the Millburn deli in Montclair. I lived here for over 30 years. Albeit, the sandwich was tasty, not fantastic, but very tasty. The cost was about $15.50. I'll call it a wish sandwich.I had a nice baguette and I wish I had some meat on it. One slice of ham, and one slice of cheese and that's it. I won't be back. BEST Sloppy Joe's at Millburn Deli in MILLBURN. NOT as good at their Upper Montclair location. The Montclair location is just a step up from Fairchild's. Not sure why Montclair is lacking...but it is. Also, MILLBURN location has customer lines out the door but you are in and out so fast with a superbly prepared sandwich, where Montclair has just a few customers and it takes a long time to get your sandwich. Plus you have to order on a screen and pay that way.. Millburn takes your order and runs with it while you pay a proficient and efficient cashier. So back to Millburn Deli in Millburn!! The wife grabbed us sandwiches for lunch. This place has a lot of fan fare so I really wanted the Gobbler. She said staff was friendly and they played a trumpet when she ordered the gobbler. She thought that was delightful. I thought the sandwich was great perfect bread and ingredients were on point. The homemade tea was also very good, recommend that with a sandwich. read more

Don't even know where to begin. Rude, incompetent service. And also in person sandwiches take as long as forty five minutes. Unheard of. The original, you order, two minutes later you have your sandwich. The owner of millburn deli clearly cares little to not at all about quality control across his now franchises. all sandwiches are over $10. had a roound roll which didn't seem fresh, the outside of roll flaked off like it was day old bread. Asked for shredded lettuce and got a few leaves. Added a large bag of chips which seemed only 1/2 filled it was only 6oz whereas regular bag of chips is 8oz, and 2 root beers and paid $22. I miss the wachung deli.... read more

Been going here since it opened a couple of years ago. I would give it 5 stars back then, but the price has increased and the portion has dramatically decreased. The taste of the sandwiches is out of this world. The portions won't even fill my 9 year old son. I know food prices are increasing, but if you are increasing the price, at least give the same amount of meat in the sandwich. It stinks, because I love the taste of the food. The staff is top-notch as well. They need to do better with portions for the price though. read more

When I heard that a branch of the Millburn Deli was opening in Montclair, I was cheered. This place came highly recommended. But you know what? Save your money--if you like real deli, with good corned beef or pastrami. As for the sloppy joes, a Jersey specialty; or even something as simple as a cheese sandwich (Three's Company, a panini with asiago, cheddar, and fontina): they're just...okay. I along with many others were anxiously awaiting this place opening casually driving by and seeing if the lights are on and the hiring sign taken down. Finally a soft opening happened last week and it's just as good as the other locations. The sloppy Joe is their go to and it's great but just be aware it's with a good amount of Russian dressing and coke slaw hence the sloppiness which I personally go for but others like a tidy Joe perhaps. Disappointing. Wanted badly for this to be the new Watchung Plaza go to. Fell short. Got the Reuben to split with a friend as our first try. Reuben on Kaiser. No mustard. Isn't that a given? The Kaiser roll was stale, grilled to death with black burn marks over the entire bun...charred Rueben is a better description. The meat was ok. There was one sad small pickle disk included. Really? I expected to have a great Rueben but the corned beef was tasteless and similar to the corned beef found in the deli section at Shop Rite or any other supermarket. Wow just wow! I can't get over how bad this place is. I was charged 50 dollars for 3 sandwiches that were below mid. I asked for a refund and they laughed and said you need to pay good money for good quality food. Never ever will I go to this place again and I highly recommend you do not go there either. read more
