On this night, we visited Miller's ale House on Harlem for dinner, and to watch the UFC fight. Miller's is a great place in general. The place is more upscale than your typical sports bar, they have an outdoor seating area with fire pits, which is nice and chilly nights. They have a huge bar with a huge selection of beers, and just about every drink under the sun , the staff is quick and attentive. Our serve this time was Oscar and he was fantastic. Millers does a lot of great things, but the food falls a little short of great. A lot short. We tried the Zingers Mountain Melts and the Pork Osso Buco and Tex-Mex Nachos. The Zingers mountain was not a mountain at all. In fact, it was way smaller than the picture on the menu showed. The chicken zingers were very small, kind of like chicken fingers for kids. There is an option to double the meat for $4, had we known we would have opted for this. The Tex-Mex nachos were just OK. They did not have any guac or a signature salsa much needed on a nacho plate. The saving grace was the Osso Buco. It was Fresh and had a wonderful crispy exterior and was moist and tasty inside. It was served with mashed potatoes, that were surprisingly great and a veggie medley, which was better than average. My first time ever dinning there even though I live about ten minutes from there by car. The place is a huge restaurant/ sports bar with television monitors scattered around the large room. There is a large , square shape , bar in the middle of the restaurant. Plenty of free parking available in the private lot. There were nine of us in the group and everyone ordered something different. "Dad's Meatloaf" caught my eye. I've seen Mom's meatloaf on menus in many restaurants but this was the first time that I ever noticed Dad's meatloaf on a menu. So , I just had to try it. When the plate arrived I noticed two generous portions of meatloaf and two sides of mashed potatoes. I opted for the second side of potatoes rather than have the Brussel Sprouts... uuuffff Well , the ample portions of meatloaf and potatoes just about knocked me out. Obviously there was no room for desert. The servers were ok but they confused our orders a little bit but nothing that we couldn't correct by pointing out 'I had the fried shrimp' ... NO ! ... 'I had the fried shrimp' ... see how easy that was The food was good , the service ok , somewhat dark in the place , but hey , it's a sports bar restaurant. All in all I give 3.5 Stars. This place can be a little hot and cold in regards to seating and service, but generally speaking, it has higher than average food, especially for a sports bar. This is a sports bar similar to a Chili's or a local place. Their menu is usually pretty large, but it has been paired back due to COVID (I think). They have wings, steak, hamburgers, etc. However, one of their more shining sections is the seafood. My favorite dish is the 35 shrimp which is generous on its portions and actually some really good fried shrimp. Fried Shrimp, fries, and cocktail sauce: simple and delicious! They also have some pretty good desserts on the menu. The only downside is that the service and seating arrangement can sometimes be a little frustrating. About 70% of the time, its ok, but when it goes wrong, it goes wrong. They also keep all the windows open on the bar side which might be for COVID, but it also makes that side super hot. In all, this place gets higher rating because their food is better than expected and for the most part, its a well run restaurant. You could do far worse at another chain or sports bar. Service was good although it was kind of busy, the manager by the name of Romano I believe checked on us and made sure we were taken care of during out wait. A somewhat new addition to the busy Harlem Ave area of Norridge, Miller's Ale House is the place to be if you're craving some good American pub food. The place has several TVs throughout, for all your sport-viewing needs. There were also a few TVs dedicated to "Chive TV" (I didn't know that even existed) showcasing funny clips of random stuff. In either case, you should easily find something to watch, if you're not into talking to people you're dining with. Miller's Ale House also has a pretty good outdoor seating area. The outdoor patio has a few TVs as well, and is super clean and well-kept. If you're not into sitting outside, but want some breeze, Miller's also has these huge wall-windows; the windows fold like an accordion and more than half the wall in the bar area looks outside. Pretty cool, pun intended. My server Paul was very knowledgeable and helpful. He knew the menu quite well and answered all my questions. I ordered the steamed potstickers for an appetizer and it came with 8 of em. The sauce that came with it was some sweet asian chili sauce of some sorts. It was a great dipping sauce. For the entree, I ordered the grilled chicken breast sandwich, with sweet potato fries. The chicken was moist (people hate that word?) and the portion was satisfying. The fries were deep-fried to a perfect crisp and was delicious. Overall, I was full. Paul, the server, refilled my water timely as well. Ahhh Miller's. This place is the bombdotcom. Except their Bloody Marys... I've never had a decent one yet. The food is amazing, though. I recommend their steak with boom boom shrimp or their steak fajitas. Their mozz sticks are also some of the best I've ever had. The service is usually very good, and they have 2 full bars within the restaurant. I picked my husband up from the airport just before 6pm and we wanted somewhere easy to get to and laid back with yummy food. I looked quickly on yelp and Miller's Ale House looked like a perfect choice. We arrived during prime time dinner hour and had about a 10 minute wait. It was a cold Friday night and despite the double entrance to help keep out the draft the front of the establishment was a bit cool. We sat in the front bar area about three booths away from the door and had to keep my coat on for a bit. It did warm up though. Ryan, our server, has been at Miller's Ale House since they opened about 10 months ago. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful. He went over the menu with us and point out some favorites. He was also helpful in going over the drink/beer selection and and the specials. I was impressed by the variety of the menu and on how reasonable the prices are. My son has a 16th birthday coming up and I'm thinking that Miller's Ale House will be a great place to bring a bunch of hungry boys! My husband picked shrimp with coleslaw and side salad that was a good shareable size. I loved my shrimp tacos with slaw and sweet potato fries as a side. If I had one complaint it would be noise level. I believe the place can be opened up during he summer and it might help with the volume, but with so many tvs and with happy customers visiting and having a great time the noise level gets quite loud. I kept trying to not raise my voice and my husband said the lady sitting behind him was pretty much yelling in his ear while trying to speak loud enough for those at her table to hear her. Dining at Miller"s was the worst experience that I have ever had dining at a resturant. First the waitress Michelle bought dirty dishes to the table with an old piece of a napkin from another customer stuck to the plate. Michelle disappeared for a long time. I had to ask another waitress for condiments. When the fish came to the table it had old crusty matter on the plate. The fries was old. I ate one piece of fish and felt nauseated and is afraid that I might be sick afterwards. Michelle seen that all the food was left on the plate. She did not care. Pretty cool restaurant/bar to catch a game, a fight, grab dinner with the family, or drinks with friends. Located just a couple of blocks from The HIP (Harlem & Irving Plaza) and the new establishments that keep popping up in this area. What a nice addition. Lots of huge flat screen TVs located all over the restaurant so there are no bad spots. Got the ribeye steak for dinner - cooked medium. A little burnt on the bottom but not bad for $18. The seasoning was okay, but had to put some A1 sauce on it to help it out. The $10 pitcher of booze was good though. I liked that they had a kids menu. Came here on a Saturday night around 6pm. Not too busy. Got a seat right away. It was also the same night that a UFC fight was coming on ( Cyborg vs Holly Holmes) so we thought it would be busier but it wasn't. Servers were nice and polite. Meal had issues from start to finish. For appetizers: nachos and pot stickers. The nachos only had topings on one half of the tray and not enough for even that half. The potstickers were very tasty. The problem was they were over cooked and we had to take the edges off because they were so hard and chewy. For dinner: Chicken fajitas and Filet. Filet was good in flavor but was served very rare. Not the end of the world. Chicken Fajitas were a joke. A small skillet that contained a heaing pile of onions and peppers not grilled through, and the equivalent of about 2 oz of chicken. The number is not exaggerated. There was enough chicken for less than two fajitas, and that's not over stuffing. Guacamole that was paid extra for was old both in color and taste. Drinks: Strawberry margaritas Hit or miss. Each one was so different in flavor and the amount of alcohol served. Service: Not great Our waiter had to be flagged down each time we needed something. He walked past our table a million times and never checked in or asked if we needed anything unless we motioned for him. At the end of out meal, another server saw us waiting and asked if we needed boxes. Additionally, the staff in the kitchen were goofing around screaming and joking around the entire meal. No, it was not work related, we could hear the conversations from where we sat. I'm not saying don't enjoy work, but it was unnecessary how loud and disruptive they were. Solid sports bar option, the menu surprisingly covers a lot of ground. The service is very friendly, Ryan took really good care of us, even the supv/mngr was great. Official BlackHawks bar. The wait on a Friday night prime time was doable (15-20 min). Tip - extra side salad is HUGE, totally worth the 2.49 and you can split between two. Respectable beer selection, both bottle and draft. Good deals to be had as well. Wife opted for the fish tacos with slaw and sweet potato fries. I would say better than average sweet potato fries. I went with the shrimp plate, grilled in garlic parm sauce with slaw and the side salad. I totally appreciated the flexibility in how I could get my shrimp. Ryan was cool and let us know about their email signup, which totally scored us the bumping cake they feature on their dessert menu for free. We had to get it to go though because we had no more room left. Plenty of TVs to watch the games, I would say the only downside was that the background music was on the loud side, which in turn made everyone talk louder, which in turn makes for a very loud dining experience. Hello Foodzies, today we went to Miller's ale house in Norridge at 4474 n Harlem Ave. it's an upscale sports bar and restaurant. Dark wood tables and bars, the walls adorned with numerous TVs each with a different types of sporting events on each. We arrived at lunchtime and the atmosphere was a little mundane with a scattering of occupied tables. Our server was Mikaela, she was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. We started with fried calamari which was served with a sweet chili sauce with was very tasty. The calamari was perfectly done with a light batter. The sweet chili sauce was sweet and had a nice heat at the end. We both had soup, Glenda had the vegetable soup which was full of vegetables and had a nice Unami flavor. I partook in the French onion soup which was one of the best I have ever had. The onions were sweet, the beef broth was well seasoned and the best part was the provolone cheese which was brûléed perfectly. Glenda then ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp which was adorned with a half of a baguette baked with a little garlic butter. The sauce was nice and light, the pasta was Al dente and the shrimp cooked nicely. I have the fish and chips. White fish, once again it had a nice lightly battered exterior with juicy, flaky interior. We both then tried the Mahi tacos. We were not pleased with them at all, we couldn't find any mahi, and the cheese, crème, pico de gallo and cabbage overtook the entire taco. On a whole it was a very nice experience. I understand the menu revamp over COVID and the pivot to using the food items you can reliably stock and use in multiple dishes. However.... What is with only offering certain items at lunch? The BBQ Ranch Chicken salad is only available during lunch hours? Why? The ingredients are identical to the Southwest Chicken salad (can't remember it's exact name) that you can get across both dayparts... The only difference is the dressing. Considering you offer items on the menu all day long with ranch and BBQ, stocking issues shouldn't be a reason. I cannot fathom why this item isn't available at dinner. No leeway or anything from the managers. I've never, ever seen a manager flat out refuse to make an item simply because it's assigned to a separate daypart. No dredge, breading or any kind of base seasoning at all to speak of - the wings look like they've been removed from the packaging and dropped directly into the fryer. Skin is leathery and chewy. The sauces are runny and thin, and since there's no breading with nooks and crannies for the sauce to stick to, an already ineffectual sauce renders itself even more useless. Been here multiple times and it is a great place overall. It is a really and clean restaurant with different types of seating from the bars to booths and tables. There are ample amount of televisions to watch sporting events. Duringtl the summer, they have fire pits outside and outdoor seating as well with televisions too. In terms of food, they have good food in general. There chicken zingers are superb and probably my favorite thing on their menu. I enjoy going here on Wednesdays because all drafts on tap are $3 and they have a wide selection of beers from ales, IPAs, and Stouts. They also have dinner specials daily and they do switch it up from time to time. Today, I had their Seafood Pasta. It wasn't the most appealing presentation compared to their other meals, but the food tasted good for the most part. My only complaint today would be that I couldn't eat any of the clams because they were still shut. Food and drink service here has been consistently fast and the servers are really friendly.
