Food is decent, prices are good. My husband and I live close so we frequent the Ocala location, usually we have nothing to complain about. Wait staff is usually good and friendly, quick and reliable but today was a little different, I don't write reviews on establishments a lot - especially if I frequent the location. However, today was a little off. I believe our servers name was Casey, she seemed new and awkward. Which is understandable but what annoyed me was she had someone else bring our food and didn't return back to our table to offer refills of our clearly empty glasses. I ended up sharing my drink with my husband because his was empty for the better portion of his meal. Eventually she brought another refill for him but that was the only time we had seen her from the moment we ordered until the moment we paid. Here's the kicker, when I was settling the check at the table she stood at our table and waited for me to pull out money, quietly staring at me, it felt like she was making sure we didn't dine and dash or something. I don't know, it was really awkward. It wasn't until I looked up at her with a weird look like "go away" did she finally leave. Right before we walked out I asked her for her name as she was standing at the table next To ours and she said her name and then leaned over and loudly said "what was the service bad?" With from my perspective was a condescending smirk. All in all, it's not the worst experience but I prefer to not have her as our server again. I'll make the staff aware when I return. Last week, as I was driving to Orlando, I stopped in Ocala to see some relatives. We were running late for an event, so we needed a drink and some quick grub. The obvious choice was wings, beer and something called a Zinger. Basically a half to a third of a chicken breast breaded and served with a sauce. So, reviewing these menu items isn't going to take much time and effort. Wings were moist and the sauces and rubs (spicy garlic-hot and garlic) were enjoyable, good quality chicken, each wing was a good size. The beer was served very quickly and considering we golfed 18 in the hot sun earlier, felt like the best beer I ever had. It apparently was Icehouse, so I may have suffered a touch of heat stroke. The highlight, other than my wonderful company, was our server. I didn't get his name, but he was on point. He must have heard me and my cousin debating wing sauces, because when he served us, he brought 2 ramekins of other sauces I was interested in tasting. I was very impressed by this, as he was slammed with tables and was hustling drinks and plates to and fro. The restaurant was PACKED, from bar to all of the tables with many different customers. Young couples, good 'ole boys, older folks, etc. It's my guess there are not many of these pub/restaurants around because it was a Tuesday night and again, they were quite busy. We had a very poor experience at the Ale House tonight. Our family and friends where in town for a Funeral. Our dear friend that lives in Ocala pasted away suddenly and we came to your location for a Quick dinner and drinks. There was a hair in my food and the manager never came over and apologized. The server seemed over whelmed From the beginning of experience and the server changed without explanation. The manager pasted by the table but made no attempt to explain why the sever changed or apologize for the hair in the food. The food was removed from the check so obviously the manager knew their was an issue. read more

It was a cool sunny friday afternoon. I begin to plan out my day as I would any other day and I start crave that delicious mountain melt. I gather my friends up to see if they would like to go get some lunch at our local ale house, when i forget that there's a pandemic going around. I panic then realize i can just call and ask how many people are allowed to sit at a table. I call and after waiting on hold for 10 minutes I get greeted with a very friendly "What." I present the lady on the other end of the phone with my seating question and she rebuttals with "Ion know" and proceeds to hang up the phone. As a valued ale house customer, someone who comes in at least once every 2 weeks, i was in shock. The establishment that I have grown to love has betrayed me. The service here really has gone down hill fast. Servers stand around a near empty restaurant, yet the wait for a table took 5 minutes with no one to great, another 10 minutes for a drink order. 2 hours to eat a lunch in Ocala is unheard of. read more

Millers ale house has usually had some good food but we went during the day and the shrimp made my stomach ache like never before. The fries were cold on both dishes but thankfully our amazing waitress gave us new ones making the experience somewhat delightful. read more

Amazing service. Came in today with a party of 7 and have a sweet lady training Crissy. She did wonderful couldn't even tell she was training. She is a natural and kept us laughing. We go here a few times a year and this has always been our 'go to' restaurant for a good meal at a good price and with excellent service... Until this last visit. They've changed the the fish in the fish and chips. Now there's less fish and more breading... Much more breading. I asked for more tartar sauce as the amount was only a small spoonful in the bowl. It never came. My husband always orders the 35 shrimp. He said there's so much more breading on them as well and he probably won't be ordering them again. Another member of our party ordered the lobster. It was very good but she had no cracker to open the claws and tail. It was awkward. When the waitress finally came back she asked for one but by the time it came she was essentially done. There were no problems with the meal for the fourth member of our party. This won't keep us from going back as we've had many great meals here, and we really hope this visit doesn't become the usual. read more

Fun place to be and been going there for years, food is expected, bar food and good selection of brews. Rare to see food sent back over a complaint, so you wont worry of this. I recommend Ale House for the amount of TVs and availability of games that can be aired/watched. However, today we noticed that the TVs and beer signs in the back corner are completely covered in thick layers of dust. That is disgusting and there's no way that dust isn't winding up in people's food. We've never noticed before because we usually sit at the bar, but Ale House staff needs to focus on the cleanliness in all areas, not just the most occupied. read more

Service was friendly, ambiance was the standard sports bar type, nothing special. The food... well, ordered a basic cheeseburger. Was asked how I wanted it and not sure why. As the the cook has zero idea what medium rare even means or how to tell at all. It came out dry and well done! The roll was Sahara dry and stale, 2 bites in couldn't eat it. Told the waitress and she said nothing, which tells me she hears it all the time. My sons Big Red (buffalo chicken sandwich) came out and looked good, but also super dry, same stale roll, had to wait to get the waitresses attention to get ranch dressing so he could eat it. Which he could only get through half before he said it was just to hard to eat being that dry. My wife's grilled chicken BLT was ok, nothing special but her roll was at least edible. I don't think I would go back or recommend this location to anyone. I been to two of there other locations and it was good. This one does not live up to what I have come to expect from the company at all. Really expected much better, but this was a complete waste of $50+... even when the waitress knew it was not right, there was no offer to make it better at all. We were sat at a nice booth , but no waitress to be had, 5-8 minutes later she and another waitress came in from smoking a cigarette outside... Hope she washed her hands ... another 5 minutes and she made it to our table... ordered our burgers and salads, she forgot the mayo .. no problem but she didn't come back.. had to wave down another waitress to get it for us , then couldn't find her to get extra napkins, couldn't find her to pay the bill, it was at 11:45 on 6-5-19,talked to the manager he was appalled, but was very nice and hooked us up a coupon... money was not the issue , .... decent service was the issue.... period... read more

I'm actually very surprised at the reviews. I've always thoroughly enjoyed Ale House. There will always be accidental incidents at any restaurant. Anytime that I stop in, the food is always good. We are regulars here so I can't give one star but today's experience deserves one. We asked for our usual table but we're told due to covid-19 they were limiting seating. Fine. I get that but there were no customers seated in the area and they could have opened one of the 3 tables in the section and not seated some other table to maintain their "limited seating". The hostess brought the manager up to the hostess station to assist me; but when she came up to us she only asked "how many?" And started walking in the opposite direction of our desired table. I asked where she was going she just looked confused. Told her again what table that we wanted and was told again "limited seating". So rather than sit us at a table that is relatively isolated she was going to put us at a table next to other customers.... Seems counter-intuative for covid-19 precautions. So we left. We came in here last Wednesday for dinner on whim because I never really care for sports bars type places (nothing against them just not my thing). While I don't care for the atmosphere or the gimmick of a sports theme I did enjoy the drinks and the food. We ordered the 2 for 1 Miller lights, chicken nachos and the southwest egg rolls. The beer was perfect and cold, the nachos were HUGE and delicious. The southwestern egg rolls were great and pretty interesting. I've only ever had them at a chili's so I was expecting something similar, and they were, but they were better here. They were longer and didn't come off as something we could pick up at Publix in our freezer section which I enjoyed because it felt like something that was made to order. I come here a lot. I usually have excellent service and when something does go wrong the management and team bend over backwards to make it right. Greatly appreciated! What I love besides the laid back atmosphere and friendly staff is the fact that their menu has much to offer. I've been on a restricted diet and must avoid fried foods, so I greatly appreciate their "Lighter Fare" menu. Love their boneless and skinless grilled Zingers! There for awhile that was about all I could eat. Most bar and grill kind of places have nothing to offer but greasy fried foods. I'm very thankful that Miller Ale House has a diversified menu. Our service experience was quite frustrating tonight. I ordered soup to be delivered before my meal. Instead they delivered only my side order of mashed potatoes and gravy 15 minutes before my entree. Then the soup came out with my meal. I then sat there for 20 minutes with my meal before they brought the meals of the other three people in our party. I asked our waitress to speak to the manager and he dismissed everything with a simple explanation. The waitress pushed the wrong button! No apology, no minor comp offered by manager. When a resturant is slammed full and the staff works their butts off to get everything right. Sometimes thing don't always go as planned. We are all human and should allow a bit of patience for those trying to get it done. I have one Kudo to manager that realized my Filet was sub par. I a split second a really rude server whistles and points at him to walk the other way. Boy I was she was our server- our entire party would whistle back whenever she had a question.. As "whistle at your face and say leave our table not now go some where else we're eating".. sometimes they need to remember guest come there to spend money and what something in return. I was recently in Ocala for a soccer tournament and had several hours to kill between games so we decided to go to the Ale House on both Saturday and Sunday because we could watch football and they have some games and pool for the kids. Between the group of people we were with we tried many different items - Fish Tacos, Fish Sandwich, Chicken Wings, Chili, salads, etc. All of it was pretty good. My complaint about this place is the service, or lack of service. Both days they were busy and it is not the servers fault, but the management for not having enough staff. Both days we were brought our drinks quickly, but it then took the server about 20 minutes to come back to take our food order and we often had to search out the server to get another drink because they were so overwhelmed. On Saturday we asked to have one of the TVs turned to a different game and were told only the manager could do that. Well it took her about 15 minutes to finally come over and do it. If you are going to go during football season plan to stay awhile and watch some games, don't go if you are in a hurry. read more

We came in this past Saturday 10/19/2019 later in the evening probably around 10pm for a couple drinks and I have been craving the zinger mountain melt. Our server, Julie was great!! She went above and beyond for us. The bartender was backed up so the drinks took a little while to get to our table but that's normal for this place. this place doesn't even deserve one star to be honest. -4 stars sounds more like it. i came to this establishment with my disabled uncle who happens to be a veteran. he wanted a drink and was denied because he didn't have his ID but he had his VA card which included his picture and birth date. i understand that they needed his military issued card and couldn't accept the VA card but he fought for our country. also to add he did not look underage at all so for them to completely deny a disabled veteran is ridiculous. the food also wasn't even good and the appetizers came out COLD. I tried 3 different Shrimp Alfredo recipe's this week. Miller's Ale house, Red Lobster, and Olive Garden. All located in Ocala Florida. All were good but one stood out way above the rest. Miller's Ale House Alfredo sauce is so much better then the other two. I can't get over how great tasting this sauce is. The service is great and don't even try and eat their brownie dessert by yourself...it's huge. So everyone try this test yourself and see why the Shrimp Alfredo at the Ale House is beyond the others in taste. You also get 35 shrimp with this meal. read more

This place is nasty dirty. I ordered a salad and my plate was filthy dirty. I sent my salad back and showed the waitress how nasty dirty my plate was. The manager came over and said well plates are stacked one on top of another and that's how the plate must've gotten so dirty! We had asked for lemon in our water when we sat down initially and the waitress used her hands to pick the lemons up from the dish and put them with her dirty hands into our water glasses. Ocala ale house is exactly what you need on a hard weekday night. The atmosphere is a great blend of sports bar and casual hangout. The service can be a bit hit or miss depending on how busy it is, but overall they are very nice and conscious if they've kept you waiting. The food is a great example of bar food and they have a great beer selection to take the edge off of a hard day. The place is very well kept and clean. The restrooms are clearly cleaned on a regular basis. I would definitely recommend this place on a not as busy night. read more

Food is pretty good but lunch time service is incredibly slow. The last three times a group of us went for lunch we were there for at least an hour and a half and we arrive at 1115-1125 to beat the lunch rush. Last week there were 5 of us and we waited too long for our food. We can no longer reliably plan on an hour as we used to in the past which prevents us from being able to eating there. They do not and can not accommodate for food allergens. I have attempted to eat there on 2 occasions very unsuccessfully. No gluten free menu, no management or wait staff that has awareness of gluten free. Very bad experience. I won't go back.
