We went to Butterface for brunch on Sunday. Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, we were lucky to have Arnold as our server. He provided exceptional service. We ordered the bottomless mimosas, an Aperol Spritz, French toast, and Eggs Benedict, and everything was delicious. Despite how packed the restaurant was, Arnold was always attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you, Arnold, for your outstanding service! BUTT-HER-FACE.... :) I was excited to give Butterface a try. We stopped by on a beautiful Sunday morning. Parking is very easy and when you walk in, you can't help but admire the decor. I was feeling the vibe and the music was perfect. It was not loud where you can't have a conversation but loud enough that you can't hear the people next to you. LOL. Danielle was our server. She was very nice and sweet and she gave the disclaimer that she just started working there and if we had a question where she did not know the answer, she would definitely find the answer for us. She did very good and made us feel comfortable and she checked up on us from time to time. Food: Fried Burrata Chicken and Waffles The chicken and waffles were delicious. A bit too much on the batter but that's my opinion. The chicken was flavorful and peppery. The waffles were a bit drowning in the syrup but next time I'd ask for the syrup on the side. Some people might like it like that but for me I prefer to dip my waffle in the syrup. The Fried Burrata was a HIT. It had a spicy vodka sauce which we've been loving lately, basil, parmesan and ciabatta bread which was amazing. We dipped the bread in the sauce and also dipped some of my chicken into the sauce. What a beautiful restaurant! The aesthetic is gorgeous. Greta told us it was her 2nd day and we would not have known it. We ordered the breakfast calzones- the dough was light, the sauce was a fresh marinara. A good starter to share. I had the peach cobbler French toast and my husband and had the chicken and waffles. The French toast was so good- the bread was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside- nothing soggy and limp about this French toast. The peaches and toppings were a nice accompaniment. The chicken and waffles were good- the micro cilantro greens were not a welcome addition (you either like or hate cilantro) and the sage was very present. My husband liked it, I did not, so that's going to be a dealers choice for whether or not you like sage. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the waffle was nice and crisp- I just wish the syrup was on the side so we could add it as we wanted- the middle of the waffle was quite soggy about halfway through. The magic window for no wait would definitely be around 10-10:30- as we were finishing up our meal the restaurant started filling up, so I recommend starting your brunch a little early read more

I really enjoyed my time at Butterface. Slightly on the higher end pricing but worth to try for sure. Their salmon rosti was nice and crispy, the sauce balanced well with the richness of the rosti and the salmon paired nicely with it. Their French toast was packed high and was soft and fluffy, but the one I got was peach Cobbler which had this intriguing flavour that I couldnt pick up, which made me enjoy it less. Slightly on the sweet end, and yet bitter? The crumble was a bit more grainy than I would have liked as well. Their dirty strawberry coke was quite pleasant and enjoyable though. Worth trying. It is sweet though. The Eggs in Purgatory was a delicious and tomatoey dish, perfectly poached egg and paired nicely with their fresh bread bites. I really wanted to like this place, but it just wasn't very good. The restaurant is decorated so cute and looks really nice. However, the food is lackluster . I ordered the peach cobbler french toast, egg benedict, sage fries, and a mimosa flight. For starters the mimosa flight was served with warm/room temp champagne. We politely told the waiter and he brought back out another flight, but the temperature wasn't improved by much. Next, we had the peach cobbler french toast. I will say that the French toast was pretty good and I did enjoy it, but I probably should've just stopped there. We shared the Benedict and it was just covered in tons of arugula, it was basically poorly poached eggs with arugula. The arugula was not dressed, it was dry and piled on top of everything. Finally, we had the sage fries. The fries were unsalted and more aromatic than tasty. They were as underwhelming as the Benedict (both were also pretty pricey. $15 for fries!!!). The restaurant seemed pretty busy, so maybe there are other good things. But, I think a side order of fries can tell you a lot about a restaurant....in this case the fries (much like the food) were overpriced and underwhelming. read more

Butterface sits in a location that has been a couple things including a BBQ restaurant. The inside is well appointed, nicely done. We didn't have many issues with the service other than a missed-step on one of the items, otherwise she was very nice. What works here? The ambiance, very welcoming inside and at the bar. What doesn't work here is unfortunately the food. First, they carry only one type of vodka which is uncommon for a full bar. We ordered the whipped ricotta which had really good flavor, but served with bread straight out of a wrapped loaf. Wrong bread, not toasted or even warmed up. So that kinda ruined what could have been a strong dish. The breakfast sandwich was like warm, very little bacon, and an abundance of arugula. Couple that with non-toasted soggy bread, and it is not really edible. Served with that sandwich was shoestring fries which maybe could have salvaged the sandwich however, they were undercooked. I've run into thin shoestring fries being overcooked many times, not sure I've run into soft undercooked ones before. Lastly was the eggs in purgatory. It consisted of 3 eggs, the same bad bread, and way too acidic marinara sauce - code for out of jar. It also had to be remade as we ordered without goat cheese, but the first batch obviously contained it. That is not a $24 dish by any stretch. We really wanted to like this place especially since we're familiar with the history of restaurants in this location. Okay, talk about a hidden gem! Butterface is one of those places that you are unsure of because of the quirky name, but let me tell you once you walk inside. Any doubt you had will be swiftly swept away. For starters you walk in and you immediately feel underdressed. But that is definitely not the case. This place has a very cool, swanky and elegant vibe to it without being overly stuffy. It's super comfy, very casual, but everything is top notch. Our waiter Arnold met us at the door and escorted us to our booth. The place had some very nice ambient music playing, and we had a great view of the entire place. They do have a couple TVs up by the bar in case you want to keep up on sports or a movie, and that did not take away from the Elegance of the place at all. We ordered the peach and goat cheese bruschetta, and I am so glad we did. Dare I say that this was the best bruschetta I have ever had in my entire life! Now I've had bruschetta, but this one absolutely steals the show. The Christmas and sweetness of the peaches combined with the balsamic vinegar and goat cheese is absolute heaven. Do yourself a favor and make sure you ordered this! The next thing we had was a salmon on a a bed of potatoes... It was more like a potato nest, but holy cats. That thing was off the chart. I wanted to keep eating it but I was already full and did not want to overdo it. It was absolutely scrumptious and you would do yourself a disservice not to try it. I have to brag on Arnold for a minute. Having been a waiter at multiple restaurants, I know the importance of customer experience. Arnold absolutely nailed it! He was super friendly, just chatty enough, and always checked in on us but not being overbearing. I have to say he made the meal even more enjoyable which is a rare thing to find. In this day and age where where customer service has thrown out, the window, butterface delivers in spades! They are top notch. They were on it and you feel like you're in a very elegant restaurant. Bottom line? I will absolutely be coming back. The one complaint, I'll be at a small one, was they were out of the lemoncello tiramisu. I loved her massoon was so looking forward to it. This place is way bougie than the name portrays. My friend chose it based on the name alone and we were all a little surprised when we showed up. Prices are on the high side, which isn't a problem but it does raise expectations which I don't think were meet. No olives, fig jams or pistachios like the menu said. I feel like the chips were store bought and if there were no chips it would have been a sad sad charcuterie offering. Silver lining the kids loved the chips. Mini Breakfast Calzones ($15) -- these were delicious! Super tasty. Served with marinara which was odd and little unnecessary. Definitely a favorite! There is another side of the dining room as well as a patio. I wish the patio was available as an option during my reservation online, it would have made a big difference in our experience. Our server was nice, but service was VERY slow like other reviews mentioned. There are two sections of the restaurant and it seemed like he was running around serving some tables in our section and in the other room. It didnt seem THAT busy for a server to be running around, perhaps they were understaffed or they needed to seat less tables so they wouldn't be so slammed The food itself was fine. Wasn't mind blowing but wasn't bad. The porchetta breakfast skillet was my fav! Lastly, it irked me when I asked for a receipt and one of the workers said she could not print it. I tried printing my receipt after paying on the handheld machine and it didn't work, so on the way out, I asked a worker for help near the server station, where's there's a monitor to input orders, etc. She was giving, "too lazy to figure it out"-- at least ask a coworker next to you or offer a text/email receipt instead lol. My daughters tried this new brunch spot right down the street from me. I'd been wanting to check it out, and after losing a bet, I owed the girls brunch -- so it felt like the perfect opportunity! That said, I'm not sure we'd return. The food was okay, but it definitely wasn't worth the price. We paid $26 for the peach cobbler French toast and $24 for the lemon poppy seed pancakes, which were unfortunately way too sweet. The prosciutto eggs benedict was pretty good, but not the best benedict I've had. The drinks were average - and again, overpriced. I made a reservation at Butterface for a party of 20 to celebrate my birthday brunch. We were seated immediately upon arrival, which was a great start. Unfortunately, that's where things slowed down. It took almost an hour just to get water on the table, and another 30 minutes after that before we were finally able to place our food and drink orders. All in all, we were about an hour and a half to two hours in before orders were taken. I understand that this establishment hasn't been open very long, but for a reservation of this size, I do feel the party should have been better staffed. Having only one server for a table of 20 made things challenging. That said, I want to be very clear: this is not a reflection of our server, Arnold. He did the absolute best he could and his service was great. He was attentive when possible, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave helpful input on entrées and drinks. He handled a tough situation very well. Now, onto the food. Not a single person at the table had anything negative to say. The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and everything we tried was enjoyable. I also really liked the ambiance. It was very cute and welcoming inside. I would definitely come back. We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened on June 18th. We ordered the Prosciutto Benedict and Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes. The Benedict was delicious. I wish I could say the same about the pancakes. The drizzle was wayyy potent. The pancakes were undercooked in the middle. We brought this to the attention of the server and he had the pancakes remade. They were still undercooked in the middle. I presume it was the manager that came over next and offered for the kitchen to make regular pancakes. They too were undercooked in the middle. Weird experience for sure. Was the batter days old? After my brief time at the DMV this morning, I looked on my collections and found Butterface. The breakfast menu is short, but there are some good things listed. I was seated very quickly. It was quiet yet with only one other patron. My server, Theresa, quickly brought a mug of coffee while I looked over the menu. I decided to order the porchetta breakfast skillet. I enjoyed my coffee while waiting. In short order, Theresa brought a cloth trivet for the skillet which was to come. The skillet is very hot and in a cast iron holder. I was cautioned about the heat from the skillet. I paid attention for once. Underneath the three fried eggs was a mixture of potatoes, cheese, garlic, roasted red peppers, and sun dried tomato, and pieces of porchetta. It's quite a flavorful mixture. It's also a hearty breakfast. Be hungry if you order this dish. Butterface is on the West side of south Fort Apache between Russell and Sunset. There is plenty of parking. read more

was really excited to come to this restaurant because it went viral on Instagram so came for brunch a couple of Sundays ago with my friend and we were really stoked to try a couple of things on the menu. We had the fried burrata which not only lacked flavor it came out cold with no bread on the side so when we cut into it, it was just a thick lump of cheese and it was not ooey nor gooey to say the least. tbh all of our food came out lukewarm. We received the potato frittata smoked salmon, which would have been good if it had salt and pepper or any seasoning for that matter and the potato was remotely heated up. something that also threw us for a loop was that all the food came out at once so we had our appetizers and entrées which was four different meals come out for two of us all at one time. since it came out warm already it was cold by the time we were able to try most of our food. We were really excited for the peach cobbler French toast - that was very dry and also lacked flavor and sweetness, and we tried the prosciutto sandwich which was very chewy. Best thing on the menu where the fries that came with the sandwich. our drinks, we got the aperol spritz that we had to send back because it did not have any alcohol in it, and the basil lemonade tasted like it was a fountain drink not a crafted mocktail. Service was nice, but the bar took 20 minutes for our drinks which we ultimately sent back and the kitchen forgot our bread which we never got until we asked for it. Our server was very nice, kind and sweet. There was nothing he could really do to help the situation. will not be going again until they work out the kinks of being a new establishment. read more

I'm not going to lie, this was the most amazing breakfast food I have ever had. I don't know who the chef is here, but I would like to hire them on my private yacht if I were a billionaire like in Emily in Paris. I had the smoked salmon on a potato dish and I kid you not, I was eating my leftovers for lunch, and for dinner that day. That was the most potato I have ever eaten in one day. My companions had the skillet and a breakfast sandwich and they both commented that the food was really good too. Also, the drinks were heavenly. I had a gin martini which was probably the best one I have ever had. The place is also very modern without trying too hard. I love the vibe here; it almost feels as if I'm in New York City or some other big city. I have a feeling I will keep coming back to Butterface from here on out. read more
