We really enjoyed eating breakfast here. It is small and quaint place, showcasing art and products from Oaxaca. The menu is inspired in the gastronomy of that state, so don't be surprised when you read "blue-corn" masa, actually, give it a try. From the Café de Olla to the Tetelas, every dish is delicious, service is fast and attentive.
After seeing so many people raving about this place we had to come and try for ourselves! It feels very modern, clean and earth tones aesthetics when you walk in! The gal at the cash register was very nice and helped us choose the tacos we were uncertain about getting and gave great recommendations! We ended up trying almost all the tacos! They were out of the ribeye tacos so we gotta come back just for those but by far the best was the birria tacos with consumé and the Barbacoa tacos! lots of flavor and came out hot! 10/10 would recommend to all my friends and family!
The food at Milpa is sooo solid even though I got it delivered from DoorDash. Who knew you could find tacos better than some of the spots in LA and SD right here in Vegas. The birria was extremely tender and had a lot of depth in the consomé. A lot of spots in SD and LA have it stewed too long or boiled too heavily, so while it's tender, it ends up dry. This spot nailed it. The fish taco was solid and perfectly seasoned. The al pastor was alright, not nearly as good as what you'd get carved off the trompo at street stands in LA. My favorite dish was the ceviche, which had a lot of depth and smokiness from the chiles. I'll definitely be back!
When I came to visit a friend in town, he told me he wanted to go here and another place. When I looked it up I was delighted to see that I had already bookmarked it as a place to try. We had a pup with us and in the yelp review we saw that they were dog friendly. When we got there, we didn't see any outdoor seating so I popped in to see if we could bring her in or if we needed to get take out. To our relief they told us we could bring her in as long as she stayed under the table and was on her leash. No problem. There are several tables allowing for many group sizes with the bathroom outside, which was very clean. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share: Cilantro lime shrimp Barbacoa beef Birria tacos Apple empanada We got extra blue corn tortillas that were served warm. I got a Horchata matcha which was refreshing. The food came out quickly and it was all very good. The tortillas were soft and warm. The barbacoa was super tender and flavorful. The birria is some of the best I've had in a very very long while. The shrimp were well cooked as well. The apple empanada was delicious! The apple pieces were diced into tiny cubes with a yummy masa wrapping coated in sugar. Everyone who came by and helped were super friendly and welcoming. Such a great experience. Definitely get off the strip and check this place out!!
I just moved to the area and want to try everything...this was my first choice, and it hit the mark! Everything was fresh and inspired, with complex, layered flavors. The chips were crisp and lightly seasoned, the guacamole was perfectly chunky and bright, and the corn was creamy and just slightly smokey. My favorite was the mushroom taco- the blue corn tortilla set the stage for the savory, meaty mushrooms. I used the green salsa on everything because it was that versatile. The guava drink hit the spot on this hot day as well. Excited to try more of the menu!
I finally checked Milpa off my Yelp bookmarks, and now I'm wondering why I waited so long! It was absolutely worth the wait. We started with the chips and salsa, and the salsas were on point. My favorite was the red, and I loved that they were served warm, it makes such a difference in flavor compared to the cold stuff most places serve. The queso birria tacos were delicious the braised beef was incredibly juicy, and the consomé had a great flavorful kick to it. I also really enjoyed the suadero tacos, which were so tender. But the real showstopper? The beer-batter fish tacos. Wow! Every flavor combined perfectly. The space itself is super cute, clean, modern, and simple with nice plant accents. Plus, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I'll easily be a regular here from now on!
Tried Milpa recently and it was a good experience. It was busy when we were there. Small place so there will be a wait if busy hours. You can really tell they put a lot of care into the ingredients--the flavors feel fresh, authentic, and thoughtfully put together. Presentation is great but smaller entrees than we expected. The tortillas are a standout (definitely don't skip them), and everything we ordered had that homemade, elevated touch. It's not your typical quick taco spot--it feels more intentional and quality-focused. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations. It's a great place if you're looking for something a little more unique and refined while still feeling comfortable. A bit on the pricier side compared to standard taco spots. But overall a good meal to try if around.
Low key embarrassed to admit that I went here for brunch twice in one week but y'all...Milpa is really that good. I went here on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. Out of the two dishes I tried I'd say the Huevos Rancheros was my favorite but the Chilaquiles were just as great. You can't go wrong with either option. Service was very friendly too. Staff was accommodating to any questions I had and were quite chatty. You order at the counter and they deliver your items to your table. Here's to stopping by for a potential third visit this month!
Small but it has a spacious and modern feel . The food was so good I tried three different tacos: shrimp, birria, and barbacoa all my favorites. You know it's good when you see grease and indeed has so much good flavor. I tried the horchata and would say it's a must try. I also tried the probiotic and prebiotic drinks. This is a gem of a place! Service was friendly and fast.
Finally got to visit and wondering why it took me so long. If you didn't know, Milpa is a top 100 place to visit and that's for good reason Ordered to go and the service was still fast I tried most of their tacos the standouts were Fish taco - got the beer battered Mahi Mahi. Solid and it's a must order if you like fish tacos Ribeye Asada - meat excellent but I would caution the spicy salsa paired with this. It is a creeper and will recommend getting that on the side if you don't like spicy. Queso Birria - this might go down as one of the best and cleanest birria tacos I've had. The consome goes with everything. It's not super greasy or salty. It's a great balance of flavors. The birria meat had excellent flavor and the cheese that blanketed the meat inside is the perfect complement Love that everything is made down to the tortilla. Milpa has that farm to table feel that a lot of us want.
If you're the kind of person who gets a little flutter in your heart when you see mushroom or cauliflower tacos on a menu, let me introduce you to your new happy place: Milpa. It's not to say carnivores aren't welcome as they actually have a ton of meaty choices, it's just that any restaurant that makes cauliflower a delicious showstopper gets my attention. They clearly put real effort into building flavor. A lot of the dishes come wrapped in their homemade blue corn masa tortillas, which are so good you might briefly consider committing a felony to secure an extra one. I'm not saying I would mug a grandma for a blue masa tortilla... but if there's a grandma out there casually carrying one in her purse, she should probably keep an eye on me. These tortillas are that good. While I was there, I noticed that Phil Rosenthal from Somebody Feed Phil has stopped by and sung their praises. honestly, no shock there. The food is creative without being precious, bold without being showy. Just really, really solid. The vibe is great neighborhood energy -- casual, relaxed, the kind of place where you order at the counter but still feel genuinely taken care of. It's not white-tablecloth, hushed-dining-room service, but friendly, attentive, and warm. Also do not skip the drinks. I had a pomegranate paloma that was dangerously delicious -- bright, refreshing, and the perfect companion to those blue masa masterpieces. If you're visiting Vegas, this is absolutely worth the 15 minute drive off the Strip. And if you live in Vegas You probably already know. If not, your taco standards are about to change.
I'm not usually in the mood for Mexican food (I usually crave Asian food!) but when I saw Milpa, something made me really want to try it. I'm really glad I did too! This place is really cute and cozy, with some plants scattered around. The food here is so fresh and delicious. But what makes it even more stand-out is the customer service. Both ladies I spoke to here were SO helpful and friendly. I got such a thorough introduction to the menu and was excited to try the made-from-scratch in-house tortillas. They had a really convenient ordering kiosk, so you can either order there or at the main counter resister. It was super hard to choose, but one recommendation I was given was to try a mix of single tacos if it's my first time trying them. That way I could see what I liked. Great idea! I decided to give the beef barbacoa, mushroom carnitas, and beer battered mahi a try. When they came out, I thought they looked so delicious! Really nicely plated and fresh. Each taco was very unique. My favorite was definitely the mahi taco. It was perfectly crisp and the flavor melded so nicely with the vegetables. I also decided to try a concha for the first time. So perfectly sweet, just a touch and not crazy sugary. Definitely a satisfying meal. Can't wait to come back and try more on the menu! read more

A couple of years ago, I read about a tiny Las Vegas treasure that had earned a James Beard Award nomination and landed at #6 on Yelp's Best Restaurants in the U.S. list. That restaurant is Milpa. It immediately went onto my "must-try" list, and I'm happy to report that after numerous breakfast visits, the experience remains consistently satisfying. The well-known "secret" to Milpa's success is its commitment to grinding Mexican heirloom corn in-house to produce fresh masa daily. The exponential increase in flavor is unmistakable. Commercially produced tortillas simply pale in comparison. Here, the corn flavor truly pops, earthy, aromatic, and deeply expressive. This year, when my birthday rolled around, Milpa was the obvious choice to start the celebration. I ordered the huevos rancheros, arbor potatoes, and an Oaxacan Choco Latte, each a proven favorite. The huevos rancheros begin with an heirloom corn tostada layered with velvety puréed black beans and topped with two farm-fresh sunny-side-up eggs. A generous cascade of vibrant salsa, avocado, cilantro, and paper-thin red onion slices completes the dish. The result is a superbly balanced composition: spicy brightness complementing the rich yolks and sweet corn foundation, with each topping adding dimension and texture. Even writing about it makes me salivate. The arbor potatoes arrive crispy and golden, roasted to achieve that ideal contrast, crunchy exterior giving way to a soft, fluffy center. Coated in salsa árbol, the heat is present but never overwhelming. I found myself happily using the potato cubes to sop up every last bit of ranchero sauce on the plate. Finally, the Oaxacan Choco Latte, a Mexican mocha of sorts, blends robust coffee with Mexican chocolate and warming spices. Notes of cinnamon and chile are evident, possibly accompanied by other subtle aromatics. It's the perfect morning companion: comforting, complex, and beautifully aligned with the bold flavors of the meal. Even though I was quite full, I felt compelled to bring home one of the in-house made pan dulces. This particular selection featured a tender, cake-like center enveloped in delicate, flaky pastry. It was just sweet enough,balanced rather than cloying, and proved to be the perfect complement to my afternoon coffee at home. All told, Milpa remains one of my favorite breakfast destinations in Las Vegas. I still need to visit later in the day to explore more of the menu, but that simply gives me something to look forward to. Kudos to Chef DJ Flores and his hardworking team for delivering a shining example of culinary excellence in the desert. I will be back soon to discover more of your delicious dishes. read more

This place is beyond, easily one of the best Mexican food hidden gems in Las Vegas. My boyfriend and I have been in Vegas for 4 years, and this is easily one of our favorite spots hand down. The space is beautiful and always clean, the staff always takes the time to get your order right and ask about how you want everything. You can always add barbacoa or Birria and other meat to dishes like mushroom tetlas, or easily the BEST chilaqulies in Vegas... I swear they are amazing I always add Birria, but barbacoa is also perfection with it. I get green sauce with an over easy egg on top. It comes with crema and cotija cheese on top, but there is a sneaky layer of ooey gooey cheese next to the delish beans at the bottom. Honestly no one does it better. Their macha salsa is unmatched you can even take some home, they jar it. Also the coffee and lattes are so wonderful and creative the perfect pairing with their dishes. I keep getting their double matcha, but their horchata matcha is still so cravable. My boyfriend always gets an americano and today while we were there he asked for a splash of coffee to warm up his americano and they gave him a whole new splash of americano. When you come here u always get some fresh, delicious, and memorable. This might be a small establishment but quality is always number one here. We will always come back because the people, the food, the environment, and of course the quality. If you haven't been here, you are for sure missing out. read more
I had Milpa booked marked for some time. It's not that big on the inside and carries a laxed cozy feel. You order at the counter and take a seat at any open table. The restroom is outside the restaurant and is shared by the other shops. I had a tough time deciding what to choose. There were several potentially good picks. I chose a cauliflower taco, a mushroom carnita taco, and frijoles de la olla. We wanted to try their corn esquites but they were out. At around 7pm it wasn't busy and our food arrived in the normal amount of time. The food was hit and miss. Both tacos had good flavor albeit they were small. The beans were not as flavorful as I expected them to be. I really liked the potatoes. They had a good flavor with a little bit of spiciness, but some of them were firm and needed to be cooked slightly longer. I was informed the birria tacos were very good. Despite some of the wins, it was not enough to entice me to come back. read more

I've been meaning to post this review for a while, just got busy! I'm giving it 5 stars because the food is actually really good--great flavors all around. Just a heads-up: if you're expecting traditional, authentic Mexican dishes, this spot leans more toward a modern fusion style meant to attract a wider crowd. That's not a bad thing at all--the food was delicious, especially for breakfast. Definitely worth trying if you're in the mood for something different. One small critique (in a good way): you have to order at the front before you sit down. For a group of six like ours, it was a little tough since the space is small and we ended up blocking the entrance while trying to read the menu. It felt a bit rushed with people behind us waiting. It would be great if that part of the experience could be improved somehow. That said, the staff was super friendly and noticed my frustration. They were kind and helped make things easier. Overall, food is made from scratch and full of flavor. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it! read more

This place is so amazing, I'm happy I discovered it. Me and my boyfriend tried almost every taco on the menu and they were all delicious. I really loved the fish tacos and the esquites as well. All of their items are so tasty. I also tried the matcha horchata and the pomegranate Paloma both were so good and reasonably priced. Everything was delicious, accompanied by great service and friendly staff. The setting is very casual environment, designed for families, friends, and locals who know this is the place to go. We opted to check it out after seeing it on "Somebody Feed Phil" and are glad we did. Everything on the menu looked great but we could only try so much. Between my wife and I we had a mahi taco, cauliflower tinga tacos, a birria taco, a chicken adobo taco, chips and guacamole, and arbol potatoes, followed by horchata. Everything was delicious. I've been wanting to try this place. Finally came today & ordered the birria queso tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious. Only thing I didn't really care for was the hot sauce. Had a kinda of weird mild flavor that I've never had before so kind of hard to describe what it taste like. I will say the heat on it was nice. The consome had lots of flavor which I appreciated & the fix-ins added even more flavor to the tacos. I always have to preface that I don't mind paying more for something that is quality, but I feel 18 bucks for 3 birria tacos is a bit steep. Nevertheless, I would say if you're wanting to try, go for it. read more

Wanted to try something new and this place met every expectation I had. 10/10 great food. The service was also great, very attentive as soon as we walked in the door. They gave us free cookies on the house, which was so sweet. The cookies were great! It's very clean and cute in here as well. I will come here every time I want birria tacos. Everything was great. Went to Milpa for lunch. Staff were excellent and kind. Had a nice vibe going and tables were clean which I appreciate very much. We ordered 2 tacos( chicken and barbacoa) and Chilaquiles. Both were delicious. They didn't skimp on the meat either. We got some desserts which were really good and fresh! I really enjoyed the cone look forward to visiting again soon, Milpa! My husband loves Milpa so we stopped in for breakfast one morning. All the food here is super fresh, the restaurant is clean and the staff is nice and attentive. We enjoyed huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, some tacos, potatoes and birria. We also got a Dulce de Leche latte which was sweet but you could tell the coffee quality was A1. The sauce on the huevos rancheros was so good. I was dipping my potatoes in it the whole time. I recommend doing 1/2 red and 1/2 green salsa for the chilaquiles. I recommend getting a side of birria for some protein - it really pulled breakfast together. Everything tasted great and we throughly enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back for more. read more

What a treasure this place is! Not only was it delicious but the service was amazing. It is also incredibly gluten friendly for allergies and sensitivity, so many amazing options! A small intimate spot by Durango and Tropicana. Went here on a Sunday after church and was craving for a ceviche and some concha and I was happy of that decision to come here. We also ordered their beef Barbacoa bowl and it was super delicious. The meat falls off and the vegetables that came with. It was a perfect meal of the day like I said it's an intimate place so it is not a big restaurant but it is worth trying and worth visiting. Where to begin? Let's start with some of the most scrumptious Mexican food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Walking in to Milpa, we were greeted by friendly staff and asked if we needed any help deciding on what to order. The restaurant itself is not big at all but there seems to be enough tables to accommodate. The decor is bright and happy. Menu features both brunch and lunch items and the food selections are so creative. I had a hard time making a decision so I went with my gut. Since it was lunch time, I ordered the Beer Battered Fish Taco and the Shrimp Taco. WOW! Talk about flavorful! The tortillas were so fresh and I really enjoyed these tacos. Perusing the menu again, I plan to try the Blue Corn Pinole Pancakes next time I come in. I also saw after the fact that they sell both yellow and blue corn tortillas. YUM! This can sound like a diss depending on who you are reading this, but this is a very "trendy" Mexican cafe. That's not a diss. I just wouldn't necessarily consider the food to be authentic. It is really cool that they mill and make their own corn tortillas. That isn't something you find anywhere. Sure some places will buy the masa and make the tortillas but to mill it yourself takes it to a whole other level. I got the Milpa grain bowl and an horchata. The grain bowl was pretty good and comes with a flavorful dressing. I'm not the type of girl that uses dressing often but this one really caught my eye. My friend got the tacos and they looked delicious, so I will be going back to try those. Only complaint I have about the food was about my horchata. It tasted like I was just drinking a cup of milk. The staff working there looked bored and honestly a little bothered when anyone would walk in but that seems to be the norm almost anywhere you go nowadays. read more
While visiting Las Vegas, we had our sights set on Milpa as it was designated one of the top 100 restaurants on Yelp for 2024 (#22) and 2025 (#19). The first thing you'll notice is that the building and the inside is very unassuming. You order at the counter, then pick a seat and they bring your food out. There are only about 5-6 tables. The menu is simple, yet effective. For the tacos, you can get them individually or as a 'bowl' which comes with 4 tacos. We tried birria, fish, chicken and barbacoa tacos. Birria was the best, followed by chicken. Barbacoa was super runny and made quite a mess on the tray. Overall, they were very authentic. I'm not usually a fan of corn tortillas, however theirs were very good. Side note -- on Wednesdays, if you check in on Yelp you receive a free 'Jamacia' drink, which is a hibiscus flavored tea. read more

Milpa was feature on Yelp's top 100 restaurants in the US at #17. They are off the Vegas strip and are a healthy Mexican restaurant, a James Beard Semi Finalist. This small but attention to detail establishment brings great flavor and outstanding customer service to its clientele. The limited staff is customer focused and very attentive to you needs. They specialize in breakfast and lunch service. We went around 9 on a Saturday morning and were warmly greeted by the staff. We ordered the breakfast tacos (2) with heirloom hand made tortillas, scrambled egg, Mexican bacon and cheese. The eggs were a la Mexicano style a the star. There were hints of cheese and bacon. A very nice balance and not heavy. We also ordered the mushroom carnitas and cilantro line shrimp tacos. The mushroom tacos had an amazing flavor and different from anything I had ever tried. The shrimp were nicely cooked and had nice flavor with the lime / cilantro mixture. This place is a rising star with over-the-top service. The hand made heirloom tortillas were flavor packed. Other diners were trying the blue corn pancakes and Mexican bowls. We were glad to be able to try this hard working restaurant and staff. When we return, we will try some of the blue corn dishes. Our selections were good but I feel the real gems are in other dishes. We played it safe and were happy but felt we need to give them a second chance at a five star review. Found this place from Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix and had to try! We tried a couple of the Birria Queso Taco bowls (includes 3 tacos each), Shrimp Ceviche, and some of the drinks -- all of which were absolutely delicious! The birria taco had large pieces of meat with some fattiness that added great flavor especially when paired with the consomme broth. Really loved the chill vibes, cozy atmosphere, and variety of table sizes to fit parties of all kinds. Also, thanks to Maria at the front for her wonderful service and patience during our visit! She really helped make our first visit memorable for taking care of us so well :) Marking this place as one of our new favorites and we'll definitely be back! Thanks Milpa! read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would! I was so amazed at the quality of the food! First of all, I was very skeptical because I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where they didn't offer cheese. No cheese nachos no cheese enchiladas no cheese anything and I love cheese.! I ordered the guacamole and chips as an appetizer and the guacamole and super crunchy chips gave me an indication that this place might be all right.. I ordered the cilantro lime shrimp tacos, and the shrimp were fresh. The seasoning was perfect and I also ordered the roasted corn that was a nice and spicy and savory.! I didn't miss not having cheese at all. Also, this restaurant had no margaritas, but it did have Palomas and I never had a Paloma in my life and that was the best drink I've had in a long time so now I will be ordering Paloma's instead of margaritas.! I will definitely go back to this wonderful restaurant. All of the employees I came in contact with were courteous, professional, and knowledgeable.. read more

Milpa is easily one of the most unique and underrated spots in Las Vegas. If you care about real, high-quality Mexican food, this place is on another level. The first thing you notice is the tortillas--they're handmade from heirloom corn that's ground fresh daily, and you can taste the difference immediately. Reading the reviews on Yelp and seeing Milpa in a documentary lead us to breakfast. The restaurant is small but quaint with a nice atmosphere and background music. Our order was made in a timely manner and the server made time to see if we needed anything. Breakfast was excellent and fresh. The chilaquiles with green verde sauce were perfect. Ordered a rice bowl with lime and cilantro which was pretty good. Took home a couple of home made pastry for later. Definitely worth a visit to try out their food. Will be back. read more

Wow wow wow is all I can say ! I've been seeing this spot all over tik tok & I had to come try it. I had the most delicious plate of chilaquiles & I can honestly say it was one of the best I've ever had. The chips were perfectly crispy, coated with just the right amount of sauce, flavorful without being soggy. The toppings were fresh, from the crema and cheese to the perfectly cooked eggs, and everything came together perfectly. The staff was warm, attentive, and made me feel truly welcomed. This place is consistent. Same fresh ingredients and taste. Friendly service,, always people coming and going but never super busy. Plenty of parking. Lots of bottle drink options. I need to come earlier in the day and try some of their coffees. The chillaquilles are my new favorite. Husbands loves the big heaping bowl of beef and daughters loves the Birria tacos. read more

Do you sell handmade fresh tortilla?
We grind all of our masa in house and we sell fresh stoneground tortillas.
Do you sell fresh masa? If so, do I need to put an order in for 15 pounds on Dec. 21st?
Yes we do! We can accommodate your order. Please call 702-247-4147 a week prior to when you need it.
Is there a dj there on weekends?
I don't believe so. It's not that type of establishment
Is there happy hour?
Yes there is! From 4-7pm. Enjoy half off beers and cocktails
Is this a good place to study at and if so are there outlets available?
Yes you can. Typically we moderately slow down after 2pm and there are outlets to plug in your computer.
Do you sell Pinole by the pound?
We don’t sell it but we can. Let us know how much you would like and we can accommodate. Thank you
Is there any entree that is gluten free here? Does this restaurant use a shared fryer for things like flour taquitos that would cross contaminate gluten free corn tortilla chips? I have Celiac disease and have to eat gluten free.
Hi Rachel, most of our menu is gluten free. The only think we have that has gluten is our pancakes. Let us know when you want to come in and we can make sure nothing is cross contaminated. Our corn tortillas are gluten free as well.
Is this place dog friendly?
Yes it is. It is a small restaurant but dogs are always welcome.
