I give this place a one only because the staff and waiters are sooooo nice and helpful. My drink was never empty and they were always close by if I needed anything. That said, I have some major problems with this place. First off the food is INCREDIBLY expensive. The cheapest thing on the menu is still $16. I am not a total cheapskate and don't mind spending $25 on an entre if I'm in the mood for it, but I always appreciate when a restaurant (especially one like this where it's CASUAL dining and they offer a complimentary salad bar so it's definitely not what I consider fine dining) offers $10-12 entre items along with the $25-30 entrees for the more budget friendly customers. My other problem is that the food is not worth the price you are spending. The best part of my meal was the free bread. The first time I went I got the tuna steak rare. I love tuna steak, so I was so excited that a place in Cedar served it. When it was placed in front of my though, all I could smell was fish. And not the aromatic seafood aroma, but the smell of not fresh fish. I got through maybe 3 bites and couldn't bring myself to eat anymore because it had the same taste as canned tuna, so you can imagine my disappointment. On the second occasion I went (I decided to give it another try thinking that maybe I just went on an off night), I got the teriyaki beef kabobs. These kabobs came out with 3 golf balled sized hunks of meat on each skewer (much too big to eat so you're having to completely deconstruct your kabob and cut up the meat yourself) with ZERO seasoning and the cup of "teriyaki" sauce was soy sauce with ginger. I hate having to write a review like this, but if you are going to charge that much money for your food, it better be perfect. read more

This is my favorite "night out" restaurant. A little pricey but off season coupons are a plus for locals. Their giant shrimp is the best I've eaten but husband says the steaks can't be counted on to come out as ordered (rare, medium, well). Staff are some of the best we've encountered. The reviews were pretty mixed but we took a chance and had dinner here tonight. We were not disappointed. Husband and I both had the rib eye and both dinners were prepared exactly as ordered. Salad bar was fresh and homemade rolls were yummy. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. On Thursday April 27th 2017 My wife and I ordered the $31.00 Prime Rib dinners. The seating and service by Scott was excellent along with the salad bar and bread baked at the restaurant. However the Prime Rib center cut was stringy, difficult to cut, and at least 25% fat. Having read the glowing reports of their Prime Rib in the past, we were very disappointed. We can only hope that the Chef mistakingly overlooked this poor cut before sending it out to the customers that evening. We left a 20% tip for the service. read more

As good as it gets in southwestern Utah...After photographing the late afternoon light in Dixie National Forest, my wife and I stopped at Milt's to end the day. She raved about her wonderful filet mignon and I enjoyed a perfectly-grilled, rare tuna steak. They have an old-school, enormous salad bar with very fresh items. The decor has a rustic lodge feel with beautiful photographs and paintings that highlight the surrounding culture and landscape. When traveling, especially in more rural areas, quality culinary choices can be limited. But Milt's would be a hit in any location...a very traditional approach to classic American fine dining with excellent service, freshness and quality. It's a little bit of a drive outside of the city, which is nice, because it's still busy even with that deterrent. If I'm ever in Cedar City for any extended period of time, I try to go to Milt's at least once. They have great steak that is cooked well and served with fresh sides. Great service and good food. I recommend starting with a shrimp cocktail. Although the zucchini, mushrooms or artichoke are all good. The salad bar is fresh and offers a mix of greens (not boring iceberg lettuce). The hot brown rolls are another favorite - but the white as good as well. For the main course I suggest the prime rib or ahi tuna. Because it is mainly a steakhouse the probe rib is probably what you will come for. My husband prefers the marbling on a rib eye and I also like the fillet. But if you like fish I highly recommend the ahi tuna. I know you are thinking, fish at a steak house in rural southern Utah.... but the ahi is good! Don't be afraid to order rare or medium rare. It is meaty and the presentation is good. You will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of fish. Personally I never had enough room left for desert but the maple nut ice cream or brownie sundae don't disappoint. Milts offers a full bar and a good wine selection. If you are ready to try something new, check out Cedar's own winery - Iron Gate. Their Tempest is a rich red blend which pairs well with the beef dishes. But Bobbie the bartender can offer a number of choices. Daniel the owner is generally in the house and knows most of his patrons. The servers are all fantastic but Scott, Carianne and Becky have all been there for a long time and can offer dinner suggestions as well as suggestions about local hikes, bike trails or gardening! On our way back from Bryce Canyon we stopped at Milt's for dinner. The décor was rustic with the dinning room pretty much filled. The constant activity of humming birds at the bird feeder out the window really was a marvel enjoyed by dinners within. Strange enough,the waitress asked my lady how she wants her pork sirloin cooked, we wondered if this is the trend of how people prefer pork nowadays, regardless health issues! I ordered the Ahi tuna. The salad bar with our dinner was very fresh and pleasing, along with the nice hot bread served. The pork dish was mediocre and my ahi steak was cooked med-rare the way I ordered. Besides with a capers, mushroom, sundried tomato relish, the tuna was bland and not seasoned. Obviously it was previously frozen & not a fresh catch as advertised. Ate at Milts last week when we were working up in Cedar City. They had a 2 for $30 dinner special that included Prime Rib. The salad bar was really good but prime rib was just ok, it showed up as 2 uneven thin pieces. I would have sent it back but with a table of 4 I did not want to have my food brought back after the others were done. The place is really nice and homie with a fire place going and a sort of view of the creek. Would I go back ya but I would tell them ahead how to cut meat. The waitress was very friendly and kept our waters full and dish's cleared. Make reservations if you go on a weekend or you won't get in. Also if you want Prime rib it is best to tell them when you make your reservations as they do run out. They do have a full bar and beer and wine, Hard to believe as this is Utah. read more

The sauce and veggies are great, the steak was medium well (I'd ordered medium) so was a bit tough and all the flavor was in the sauce. Prime Rib was fine. Texture was good but flavor was completely bland. Salad Bar was fine. The good: fresh lettuce, good cucumber salad, and fluffy green dessert. The bad: no cheese, no eggs, fake bacon bits. Very generic options on the bar. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was themed and good for it's theme (took a picture of the amazingly huge moose head over our table). Asked Ryleigh when we checked into the Abbey Inn for a good steak. This was great. 5 miles up the beautiful canyon. We arrived late on Mothers Day but only waited less than 10 minutes. They have a wonderful salad bar included with your steak. I had the filet mignon and husband had ribeye. On their wine menu I found one of my favorite Cabernet from Sterling Vineyard by the glass. Husband had a Hoo Doo beer. We were very very happy and our server Emily was great. Good bread too. She recommends their Prime Rib for our next visit. They were out because we came after 8. Was looking for a bite to eat after skiing at Brian Head. Looked on yelp and found this quaint offering about 40 min drive. Food and service were outstanding. I had the orange roughy, mild white fish with orange sauce - very tasty, my daughter had the shrimp scampi with buffalo chips, super thick sliced and seasoned potato, really different and delicious. My son had the 16 oz prime rib came out perfectly cooked. His girlfriend had the chickens teriyaki with veggies and my husband had the 7oz filet and he said it was the best steak he had in a while which is saying a lot as we eat out often in Vegas. All meals come with help yourself salad bar and everything was super greasy. The servers was very friendly and fast. It's only open from 5-9pm for dinner so need to plan around that. We had to send my fiancés steak back once because it wasn't well done and even when they brought it back it still wasn't well done. My steak was done the way that I wanted it but my rice and mushrooms was under cooked. After hearing so many great stories of this steak house, my expectations were high and they crashed hard during this experience. Of course, I won't really hold it against them this time since we decided to go on a very busy holiday towards the end of the time that they were going to close so maybe we'll give them another chance but we shall see what happens. Just had the best meal of my life! Passed this place many times on our travels through Utah, and it's always crowded. Staying in Swains Creek and took a ride to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. I had the Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail. It was $75 but it was the biggest, sweetest most delicious lobster I've ever had, and the Filet was amazing! I have always had a very good meal with wonderful service. It's well worth the drive. Great salad bar and try the shrimp and prime rib.

We stopped after driving back to Cedar City after visiting Cedar Breaks and saw the cars parked outside. Then we went inside and stepped into 1970. I like a salad bar, and this one was fresh and well-stocked, but had no shredded cheese and those fake red bacon bits instead of real bacon that most restaurants in this price range carry. They did bring a little dish of shredded cheese upon request, but cheese of some kind is a standard salad bar item. My son and husband ordered steaks which they said were good and tender, but nothing special. I ordered ahi tuna med well (because I don't like rare fish) and it was served red in the middle and I had to send it back. I liked the sauce on it with mushrooms, capers and sun dried tomatoes (an ingredient popular in the 90s -- not so much anymore). The restaurant is dark and the walls are wood planked paneling making it even dimmer. This restaurant is ok, but it needs renovation and an update to the menu. On the plus side, the service staff were very friendly and attentive. read more
