Mimi's Cafe is way out in the Chesterfield Valley. It is a chain with only one location in St Louis. this was owned by the Bob Evans company but was sold at a loss in early 2013 to the LeDuff America which owns a variety of bakeries. It is nice to go to once in awhile if I am in the area. Service tends to vary from mediocre to bad. I was most recently here for breakfast and I got pancake, eggs and sausage and it was pretty tasty. Nothing special on the menu but it is good for groups and for those who might be picky eaters. I am only giving it 3 stars since it is a good 20-25 mile drive one way for me and the fact that service is never great. They don't seem to focus on that. read more

First time visit and this will not be my last. We arrived around 8:15pm not realizing that they closed at 9pm. Not once did we feel rushed by our waiter, or a burden to be there. The entire staff was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the brie appetizer and it did not disappoint. The grilled chicken and guacamole sandwich was very good. My friend enjoyed the chicken crepes and the portion was huge. The mini baguettes and carrot bread were amazing and even warm. As I write this review I am enjoying a muffin that I took to go. Came here with a friend who loves this place. My first experience was disappointing. The service was extremely slow and the coffee was meh. I ordered a smoked salmon omlette with a blueberry muffin. I was served a round, flat scrambled egg mixture folded over two very small pieces of smoked salmon/lox and diced onions and a white sauce drizzled on top. Tasted good, not great with almost zero salmon flavor. The roasted potato side was cold. They did not bring the blueberry muffin with my meal. I had to hunt down the waitress to get it and the one coffee refill they offered. My friend couldn't understand the slow service, but otherwise she enjoyed her ham and cheese crepe. Food was great! I accidentally walked away with both copies of the signed receipt. I left a cash tip and was planning to leave more of a tip on my card as well. Since I didn't leave either receipt copies I figured they only charge my card for the food, and they didn't!!! They charged my card for a 15% tip. It was only a table for 3. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the charge on my card. This was so wrong! I called and spoke to the manager and didn't receive an apology. I only got excuses. Consistently inferior service. We have dined at Mimi's in Chesterfield a number of times over the past several years. Each time we have experienced poor service. It is ridiculous. But today capped it off. We had to wait ten minutes to be greeted by our waiter, and they were not crowded. The waiter did not credit our bill with our $5 off coupon and we had to wait ten minutes to get it all settled. Due to the horrible service, we did not tip the waiter. As my wife left Mimi's the waiter, "Craig L." stuck his head out the door and very loudly and sarcastically said, "Thank you." We reported this to the manager who listened attentively and was about to go in and get free meal vouchers for us. We simply said, "No, thanks, you've done that before and we've had it with this place." The problem has always been slow service, and inattentive service. The food really is not that great either. This is our last and final time we will ever go to Mimi's. It is ridiculously and consistently bad. I know how these review pages work. The restaurant will get people to post positive reviews to outweigh this negative review. But, trust me on this: Mimi's continues to have management and service problems. It is absurd. read more

We have always liked this restaurant. Every time we have gone there the food has been good. There was only one time we asked to sit outside only to be sat around a wasp nest. That made for a bad visit. We told the staff but they looked at us as though it was an issue we had to take care of. We aren't sure if they knew about the nest beforehand or not. This chain restaurant is huge but carries a small French country cafe vibe all the way through. I had the Quiche Lorraine, which came with my choice of GINORMOUS muffin and fruit. The fruit that came with the entree was a 1/2 slice of cantaloupe, 1/2 slice of honeydew, a slice of pineapple, and (I think) grapes. There was so much food! The place has a French Bistro atmosphere. We had an office lunch here so I got to try a number of different dishes. I ordered the roasted chicken crepes. The chicken was tender. The sauce was tasty and the crepes were delicate. I tried both the pea soup and the corn chowder. Both tasted like Grandma made them. That is if Grandma was a good cook. The quiches had a great crust. I preferred the Quattre Fromage (four cheese) quiche over the broccoli cheddar quiche. The menu had a nice variety and I definitely will be back for more. Went for breakfast. Really good mimosas. They give you a full personal little bottle of champagne with each glass and oj was good. Great value and you can top off your own. Had chicken and waffles and fried potatoes. Chicken was "tenders" strips and a little dry, possibly too long under a warmer. Waffles were good. Potatoes were a bit dry but hot and good flavor. We have been going to Mimi's for many years. It has steadily gone downhill. Today was probably the final straw. The server brought two hot dinner rolls. They were good, but teensy little container of butter and no carrot raisin bread. They aren't doing that anymore. I ordered strawberry lemonade. Turned out there are no refills for a glass of Minute Maid strawberry lemonade. It's not like it's real lemonade. I ordered a dish that I had never tried before, Rustic Chicken with Artichokes. Nowhere did it mention that it was mostly mashed potatoes. Didn't even mention mashed potatoes. Dried, overcooked chicken on a large pile of mashed with various vegetables in a rather non-existent sauce. The artichokes mentioned, were also almost non-existent. Possibly one artichoke heart, leaves only, sprinkled around. There was no "heart", there were very few leaves. Then we come to my partners dish. Turkey dinner. It was served with beef gravy with red wine in it. Yuck. He said the dressing was different than it has been in the past and was not very good. I didn't taste it, I was too busy trying to find the artichokes in my meal and avoid the mound of mashed potatoes. I gave them two stars for old times sake and the fact that his hot chocolate was very good. read more

I used to love Mimi's but wow it has gone downhill. I should have realized when the restaurant was nearly empty at 5:30pm on a weeknight. I saw a sign outside the front door that said $8 for house white or red wine so I ordered a white wine to start. They do not have a staffed bartender anymore so a kitchen worker who happened to be out in the area took my drink order. I understand wine pours do not fill a typical glass, but when he poured the wine it was at the end of the wine bottle and only filled less than a quarter of my glass. I assumed he would open a new bottle and finish pouring but no, that was it. When I then ordered a second glass it took him 10 minutes to locate another bottle of the wine and still a very small pour. First world problems but the kicker was that when I got the bill it was $13 a glass, not $8. I ordered an Asian chicken salad and the chicken was hard, tough, and tasteless. There were a few wonton crumbs vs. actual strips and just no flavor at all. The salad and wine came to $58 before tip for one person. Ridiculous and now I understand why no one was there. I could have probably argued the pricing on the wine but at that point just wanted to leave. My guess is that this restaurant will not be in business much longer. read more

I have been to this particular Mimi's location several times, and each time, it's as if I am dining a new restaurant. My dining experiences have been so all over the board, however, that I wonder if they work with recipe *concepts* rather than the tried and true recipe cards. Do the Mimi's Cafe "chefs" come in with their own recipes everyday? I have experienced some good, borderline great, meals at Mimi's, but this was not to be one of those good experiences. After visiting my grandpa in the hospital, my mom and I decided to stop by Mimi's for some dinner. We each decided to order something we'd had previously enjoyed, and split the two. What did we decide on? The Crispy Chicken Salad and the Chicken Pot Pie. The salad came with a muffin, and that was the only bit of the meal that didn't taste as if it had been sitting out for days. Gross. The Chicken Pot Pie was overcooked, and mostly crust. The inside was not creamy, and seemed as if the 25 minute wait (so that they could freshly bake the pie) was a misstatement of the truth. I think that it had already been baked hours... or even days before, and heated up for us. Blech. The salad's chicken was again, seasoned with old-spice, and wasn't worth eating. We each tried to give it a chance by taking several bites, but in the end we gave it up, and went to Oberweis for some ice cream. The waitress we had was good, and there are no complaints about the restaurant itself, but it will be a long time, if ever I return for a meal. The muffins are good, but not that good. read more

Want an unique brunch - go to Mimi's! I cannot remember how we found out about Mimi's but its one of our favorite places on a Sunday morning. My husband loves being able to choose something from the breakfast menu at random times of the day while I love trying their other items. Their staff does whatever it takes to make sure your visit is special and complete. This particular visit was for my husband's birthday brunch and he got to choose his favorite breakfast omelet. I had the 5 cheese grilled cheese which is quite delicious and not a disappointment. Because of his birthday he was given a piece of cake with a candle which topped off our visit. If you visit and its your first time, they will send you home with a 4 pack of their melt in your mouth muffins. read more

I've eaten here about 60 times. When they first opened several years ago the quality was high and the service was excellent. If anything went wrong whatsoever the manager would apologize profusely and give you his card for a free meal. Now you're lucky to get a server who remembers to bring the ketchup you asked for 10 minutes ago and the quality and portions of everything has been diminished. I still enjoy their freshly baked blueberry muffins and roasted turkey dinner. But apparently 2005 is a bygone era. read more

This is the only time I have ever been here. Overall, I wasn't impressed. The food was okay, nothing really memorable. It didn't taste bad, it was just unimpressive. The decor is tacky. Like a Bistro and Friday's had a baby. The menu is all over the place. Like the restaurant doesn't know the style it wants to be. It is massively overpriced. 2 of us had dinner. Paid $1/shrimp and I've never in my life experienced a worse piece of food in my mouth. It was the most rubbery shrimp I've ever had. The flavor tasted like you just ate a burnt stick. Do not ever order anything with shrimp there. I only ordered the skewers and ate one and couldn't eat anymore. We are headed to chipotle now bc fast food is the only thing open now. Sunday breakfast. Small wait. Very friendly and attentive staff. Been to Mimis in Cali. Food was bluh. Ordered bacon, pancakes, omelette, sramb eggs, potatoes. Coffee was decent. Bacon was cheap-ish, overly salty, thin. Potatoes were not crispy at all. Plates were sloppy and unattractive when delivered. Daughter liked pancakes, but she likes anything with chocolate and butter. Bran and spice muffins were delish, as was the pumpkin bread in the waiting area. Went to Mimi's about a week ago. My wife had been there before and loved it and wanted me to try it as well. We came around lunchtime and it was pretty crowded but were seated right away. We also must have came right at shift change because our waitress was replaced by a very nice waiter shortly after we sat down and ordered our food. We waited for over 20 minutes for a Luke warm burger and fries and my wife's meal was completely wrong. She sent hers back and didn't want a replacement meal, who knows how long that would have taken. They were very apologetic and I can't imagine that happens often, needless to say they removed her meal from the bill of course and we left paying $20 tip included for so so burger. Not really thinking I will be going back any time soon. read more

This was our first visit but I'm willing to give them a second chance. The hostess was very nice. Our server arrived a minute later and took our drink order. She brought them back and left. My husband's drink was wrong and we never saw her again. Our second server arrived a few minutes later with bread for the table and left. We didn't see her for several minutes and a third server walked up to see if our order had been taken. We told him we had a couple other servers stop by but he said he could go ahead and take the order while he was there. Moments later we heard the servers in the kitchen going back and forth over who got to take our table. It wasn't a big deal for us, but it just seemed really disorganized. Our food came out and our drinks were refilled. I found a dead fly floating on top of my drink. I had the slow-roasted turkey and my husband had the beef roast. Both were amazing. The sides were great as well. The restaurant is dimly lit and I saw a thick coating of dust on the light fixture over our table. The place could really use an update. It was extremely humid inside the restaurant. It will be awhile before I return, but based on the food that we had I would give them a second chance. read more

Just had an amazing experience here! We just popped in for late night breakfast food after a wild few hours of thanksgiving sale shopping and we were seated and quickly realized it was a thanksgiving day menu (which we ate a few hours prior and were not looking for more yummy turkey). We got up and as we walked out the manager stopped us and offered us to order off the regular menu! How in the world he knew why we were leaving I have no idea! I for sure didn't want the kitchen to have to make off the daily menu food! Everyone was incredibly kind and hospitable! I was fine coming back another time for it's just dinner, but they went above and beyond to take care of us! Thank you Mimi's for making me thanksgiving day waffles!!! We stopped by Mimi's for a quick bite on our way out of town. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Food was good and was served very fast. I believe they were a little overpriced for what you get. So, they did drop the ball in the kitchen on my French onion soup. Very thin layer of cheese and burnt on top. Then the manager, Justin, came along and not only got me a new, perfect cup of French onion soup complimentary but then more than made up for the original order in a number of ways, being gracious and insistent on compensating me and not have me just leave after I showed him the soup. We already know the food is good, so when someone drops the ball with service or food as humans do, just know that Mimi's management will make it up to you as long as you don't suffer in silence. Three of us decided on Mimi's based on the central location and viewing the online menu. It was a first time visit for all of us and we were pleasantly surprised by the huge menu, fun ambiance, attractive decor and attentive staff. We enjoyed our food, stayed around for quite a while to visit without getting any "time to go" looks from our server, and found a good meeting place for "girls' lunches". We have been there for breakfast about ten times or more since we tried it late last year and we have only ever been for weekend breakfasts. It's great food and in our experience it has been about 90% consistent in terms of portion size, appearance, temperature and taste. I base that on always getting the same four breakfast items between my wife and I. The quiche is as good as some I have had in France. The muffins are great and served warm and the coffee is bold and smoky. They have a great app with offers like "one breakfast free' with purchase of another a lot of the time which is great. One negative, If you go on a Sunday morning (unless you like waiting) around and possibly getting a hurriedly presented or cold breakfast...get there before 9am! read more

Really nice menu and lots of options. Amazing looking bakery items. Serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with appetizers and desserts. Great atmosphere and our server was Sierra and she was fantastic. She took our orders and while she was inputting them into their ordering system I actually went up to her and changed my order (I've never done that before in my life) she was very accommodating with my request. The whole time while we were eating we kept saying that we were going to get dessert. We had our eye on the berry crumble with ice cream but the food portions were a bit bigger then what we anticipated so when we were asked about dessert we declined.
