Our visit was ok. We were in chesterfield valley for breakfast and the original pancake house had a 65 minute wait so we came here because there was no wait. First clue. Our waitress didn't come out very often and our drinks were never filled. Ordered a burger and my wife ordered a quiche. The burger was just so so. Basically a frozen party thrown on a grill. Also we were never offered ketchup or mustard. My wife said the quiche tasted wasn't good and it looked like a frozen pot pie. Bottom line at 11am there is a reason there is no wait. Mimi's Cafe isn't very good at all, the service is poor and it is expensive for what they serve. I would t go again. read more

What a nice place! I was really impressed with the service, and the food was great. The icing on the cake was the server overhearing that we were on our first visit, and she didn't charge for a muffin I ordered - plus the manager came out and presented us with a to-go box of two extra muffins on the house, which were great for breakfast the next day. Came here for lunch and they were busy, my waitress was fabulous and got or food out quick. I was able to meet a friend for lunch and be back to work in an hour including drive time. So I met a friend out here for lunch today, haven't visited this place in years and it's exactly how I remembered it to be. The inside looks like your grandmother's house, but there's something very endearing about that. The food is very comforting (and fattening). Who offers muffins as a free side?!?! Went to lunch near the "longest strip mall in the world" and landed at Mimi's. Our table ordered the hummus plate and zucchini sticks to munch on before lunch, and washed it down with a few Arnold Palmers. The waiter, Joel, was random and super excited every time he brought our table another drink...announcing "Arnold Palmer!" Our table shared a few entrees. My grandma ordered a shrimp plate that came with a salad, but she never got it. I ordered soup and Joel forgot to order it, so it came out half-way through the meal. And, my mother ordered a salad that came with a muffin (why, I am not sure, but Joel asked what kind of muffin she wanted) and she never got that either. What we did get was ok and filled our stomachs. Overall, it was an alright experience and I preferred the company to the food..so it was a successful family lunch. read more

i appreciated the french decor and specialty items on the menu. i don't really think the concept works though. its a chain a little like fridays or max & ermas but with a somewhat french themed menu. in the english language, french seems to be elegant. This perceived elegance extends to their cuisine. French food tastes rather plain to me and you pay extra for presentation. Mimi's is not high end french cuisine. i guess you could applaud them for having french food on a budget? I think I've been to fine french restaurants for just a few dollars more. i ordered the crepes for dinner. tried a pumpkin broth, pumpkin bread, their carrot muffins... nothing wowed me but I could try again at lunch or maybe look for some appetizers? read more

This place is truly horrible. We stopped in for lunch today. It was admittedly an accident, but we figured we would give it a shot. I tasted 2 different awful soups, strange tasting fries, and the turkey club that would be more honestly named "lettuce sandwich." The waitress was inattentive, dropped a stranger's discarded tomato on me, and did not utter a single word about my barely touched lunch. I was out in Chesterfield and saw Mimi's Cafe when I stopped for gas. I was pretty excited to return as I've been to Mimi's when I had visited friends in Atlanta and Arkansas. So after shopping I returned to eat dinner at Mimi's. First I had to be asked to be seated. Apparently due to cuts in shifts a hostess wasn't on staff that night. Interestingly enough the wait staff and/or kitchen staff were standing around. No one acknowledged my standing and standing and standing until finally the bartender returned and showed me to my seat. At my table my waiter was wonderfully nice. I had an appetizer and a salad. Both were okay. I wasn't thrilled with the appetizer but that was my fault for driving past seafood places and ordering Calamari at Mimi's. It was fried almost like an onion ring. I prefer lightly fried or tempura style. Mimi's is known for the bread (which did not disappoint), breakfast foods and down home comfort food (and apparently French comfort food). Knowing that I should have ordered a different entree. So my first impression - not so good. The food - just okay. My waiter - fantastic. I don't know who Mimi is but this place is GREAT!!! Thoroughly enjoyed it and the service was outstanding! ASK FOR JEREMY, HE WAS FANTASTIC!! We missed breakfast and had to have lunch. What a great opportunity! We had the deviled eggs and they were delish!! I like that this place has a good corned beef hash and waffles. Most of the baked goods are fresh and warm. The family friendly atmosphere is laid back and cozy. The servers aim to please and the food is tasty and delicious. read more

Breakfast only review: I would probably give 3 1/2 stars if I could. It was basically average. The french toast was very good but the eggs and bacon not great. Nice atmosphere but definitely feels like a chain atmosphere. I would go again if invited but probably would not choose it on my own. The server was nice and there were no problems. We ordered Mimi's Thanksgiving take home dinner package. The food was EXCELLENT. It fed ten of us and left a few leftovers. I added asparagus and dairy free mashed potatoes (only needed for dietary reasons) but there was plenty of food even without the extra two sides. Very bad service. Waited almost an hour for food to come out of the kitchen. Other guests were seated after us, ordered, were served and left before our food was served. My filet was cold. My father's steak was so tough he couldn't cut it and my mother's pork chops were cold and tough. I scheduled my Bridal Breakfast for 25 at Mimi's. I met with the manager ahead of time and picked out a menu for my 25 quests. I reserved their front room. While the waiters were fine, and the food was good....the overall experience was horrible. The food came out two plates at time...then there was a five minute delay and the next two plates would come out. One whole side of the table had their food and had finished it before the other side of the table had even been served their food. I went to check on the food twice. In addition, I finally picked up the coffee pot myself and starting refilling my guests coffee. Mimi's is NOT equipped to handle a large party on a weekend, even if you've reserved a room, picked out a limited menu and met with management to work out the details. There was no sense of urgency or any concern about what was going on in our room. Our waiter ended up in the kitchen trying to move things along. It was embarrasing for me and frustrating for my guests. I will not be using Mimi's again for this type of event and I strongly suggest that "buyers beware". read more

TERRIBLE!! Service, food, cleanliness all Beyond disappointing. Salad was drenched in dressing and served with processed chicken. Burgers had black avocados. It took the manager 15 minutes to come to our table after we asked to speak with her (it was not busy at all for a Friday night). She took burgers back to replace avocados and brought back the same burger and grease drenched bun. Some of our food never came out but the service was terrible that we were never able to notify anyone so we had to write it on our check to get any acknowledgement. It felt like the desert outside and to make matters worse inside the restaurant was humid and HOT! I felt bad for the employees in the back that had to cook in this environment. I hadn't been here in years, and now I know why. Don't bother! I was out doing some shopping Saturday night on my own and decided to grab some dinner. I went in about 8 pm and had to wait several minutes for someone to show up to seat me despite very few people in the restaurant. I was finally seated by what I think was the manager (a woman who wasn't very friendly and didn't notice or probably even care that I'd been waiting for awhile). My first table was extremely dark so I moved myself to an adjacent table with a bit more light since there were so many empty tables. Eventually a waiter showed up after waiting for longer than I should have. I asked him about the rotisserie chicken versus the turkey, and he wasn't very helpful. I asked him if the chicken looked like the picture in the menu, and he said it was identical (spoiler alert: it was not). I ordered it with green beans and potatoes au gratin. When it came out, it was anemic and pale, looking nothing like the picture. I didn't say anything and started to eat since I was hungry. The green beans were way overcooked and had clearly been sitting for awhile, and the chicken and potatoes were flavorless, dried out and also clearly had been sitting for awhile. I know I came in after the dinner rush, but it wasn't that late, particularly for a Saturday night. All I ended up eating was the scrawny thigh, part of the potatoes and the green beans. The rest went home. I tried to eat it tonight, but it wasn't worth it. I ate a couple of hard boiled eggs instead. Much tastier and fresher than the food the night before straight from the kitchen. The waiter kept disappearing for very long stretches of time and wasn't very good. I had wanted dessert, but he dropped the check without my asking and quickly took off again. Probably a wise move on my part not to call him back. I'm not planning to rush back. There are enough other dining choices in this area. I'd rather not settle, and I suggest you not settle either. Unsure as to why my eggs and bacon needed to sit in the back so long they were ice cold when I got them? We went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast prior to my son's baseball tournament because it was close to the field and we were very pleasantly surprised not having heard of it before. The food was wonderful and they were very accommodating getting us out quickly knowing we had a short time to eat before having to get to the field. We ordered the muffin of the day after we already had our food because we noticed it on the board and it came out immediately and was delicious. Pineapple upside down muffin, get it if you see it on the board, but the other muffins going by looked great too! Our omelets and other food was yummy too! Okay, I will be the first to admit that I adore all French cuisine and I would give this restaurant a very high rating if I were only judging it on selection. But I do think I need to be more critical on presentation and product, because what's the point of serving French food if you don't serve quality French food? Mimi's has delicious dishes, don't get me wrong. I love the French onion soup; it's probably the best I've ever had, very flavorful and cheesy. I also enjoyed the creme brûlée cheesecake, spinach artichoke dip, quiche Lorraine, and eggs Benedict I've had there. But I do think they could work on presentation and consistency. The cheesecake was beautiful, but the quiche was really unattractive and had too much oil in it for my taste. The bottom seemed almost uncooked it was so watered down. Their fruit cups are also poorly proportioned. Also, good lord, the number of calories in every meal on the menu almost forced you to get a box for half of your meal! Staff and atmosphere are both great, though, so I raised my rating from three to four. Ive always been comfortable and even charmed by this restaurant. If you're looking for a taste of France, this is a pretty fair shot; I do hope they continue to improve with the comments they receive here! read more

My mom and I were so impressed with our visit here. It was on Mother's Day weekend, and it was a little busy, but we only waited for about 10 minutes to be seated. Our waiter Mohammad was very nice and extremely attentive; he delivered bread right when we sat down, and kept our drinks filled the entire visit. We opted to share an entree and get an appetizer to share, this is also where our waiter was great -- we asked for two plates so we could split the entree between ourselves, and he actually had the entree split up between the two plates (half sandwich and fries on each plate), and we didn't have to do anything. On to the food. First, I have to say that the french bread they bring out is so good; warm and yummy, the bread bowl also included smaller pieces of sweet wheat bread with nuts; they were different from anything I've ever gotten in a bread basket, but nevertheless, were just as tasty. Our appetizer was fried zucchini, and it was phenomenal -- lightly breaded, still crisp (not soggy), and came with marinara and ranch dipping sauces. There were so many pieces we ended up leaving a couple behind, or we would have been stuffed. We ordered the Roasted Chicken Croque Monsieur sandwich with fries. The sandwich was one of the best I've ever had, with melted swiss cheese on top, and had chicken and caramelized onions inside that were cooked just perfectly. The fries are similar to Steak n' Shake, in that they are smaller cut, but these, in my opinion, are better because they were perfectly crisped, not one soggy fry in the bunch. We had a coupon for 2 free muffins or croissants, and we decided on the seasonal pineapple upside down muffins (these are ah-mazing!!). When our waiter dropped off the check for us, he said that we could get 2 more muffins or croissants if we did the survey for him before we left. So, I went ahead and did the survey, it is a fairly long survey, but was worth a couple free items in my opinion. We opted for the croissants (I had mine later that week, it was just perfect and fresh even 3-4 days later). I keep daydreaming of the great food at Mimi's, I'm already trying to plan a time I can run over to Chesterfield to go back. read more
