The place is definitely cute, the best part of the experience was the customer service. They definitely have some great people working here. I ordered the American breakfast. It was just ok. The Canadian bacon was great, the potatoes didn't seem cooked all the way and the eggs were overly cheesy. I might try it again next time I'm in MSP, perhaps it was an off day for food. But I don't want to take away from the people, especially is a busy airport. The hostess and my server were an absolute delight

While on a layover at MSP Airport, I tried this large, open and generally quiet restaurant (depending on how many flights are departing from nearby gates). You order by QR code, so there's no opportunity to ask a server about the menu. I opted for the French Dip with Jack Cheese and Fries, with a Stella Artois draft. The flavors were basically good, although there wasn't much cheese or complexity to the sandwich. And be prepared, it is expensive for what you get. This lunch set me back $40. Service was pleasant but not warm.

As far as airport food goes, the chicken strips and fries here were pretty good. There was very few options available at this airport late at night so it was an easy decision and I'm happy that they were at least tasty and gave me enough energy to last until I got home to San Diego.

    Breakdown of Mimosa Yelp ratings

At the time of this post, Mimosa has 62 one-star reviews, which far outweigh any other rating - the numbers speak for themselves, folks. Please, I implore you, do yourself a favor and avoid this sorry excuse for a restaurant. As others have already written, you're forced to scan a QR code on the table, which pulls up a digital menu where you must place an order. My wife and I had a short layover in Minneapolis, placed an order for two meals and two beverages. Shortly after placing the order, a waitress came out with the beverages and stated the kitchen was closed. I asked why we were able to place an order, to which she could not provide any logical explanation. I stated if the food order is not being fulfilled, we also do not want the beverages and inquired how to get a refund. She insisted there was nothing she could do and that I needed to request a refund via the digital receipt I'd received on my phone, to which I did. A short time later, I received an email response from Mimosa / OTG stating the kitchen is open for another 30 minutes. Completely ridiculous given the staff at the restaurant insist the kitchen is closed and that I need to request a refund, for which apparently, they're helpless to offer any resolution. The gentleman behind the bar then proceeded to patronize me by smiling and acting with a completely over-the-top and clearly fake politeness and telling me to have a nice day. I truly empathize with travelers who have to put up with and deal with such unscrupulous and dishonest business practices, coupled with such nasty people as this young man. I then responded to Mimosa's email stating the kitchen is closed and the restaurant won't fulfill the order. The "manager" then wrote back stating he would issue a refund that would be processed in 5-7 days. Truly an inconvenience and annoyance, but had it been resolved there, I wouldn't be taking the time to write this post. But it wasn't resolved. It's been 11 days and the charge is still on my account and has posted. Mimosa / OTG and the "manager" who replied via email have done nothing to resolve this. I also added the hello@otgexp.com email as the Business Owner has suggested in other negative Yelp reviews, and that too so far, has done nothing to resolve this situation. In reading other reviews, I'm not the only person who's been charged for orders which were not fulfilled, and also did not receive a refund. To break it down -- customers are forced to place an order via a website by scanning a QR code, meanwhile the staff at the physical restaurant location insist the kitchen is closed, while the digital store / website indicates it's open, thereby placing customers in the middle of a (likely intentional) "miscommunication" between the digital store and the physical restaurant. These type of unscrupulous business practices and fraudulent charges are completely unacceptable. In taking a quick look at Yelp and Google, it's quite clear this is not an isolated incident. Despite having it in writing that they would issue a refund, Mimosa / OTG did nothing of the sort and have not responded to further inquires. Since then I filed a claim with my bank disputing this transaction since the order was not fulfilled and the company has done nothing to resolve it, and it's now well beyond their stated timeframe of 5-7 days. Do yourself a favor, go anywhere else in the airport. You will be saving yourself time, money, a headache, and you might actually get something to eat.

The mimosa was delicious! However my butternut squash risotto was not very hot and way too cheesy. It was more like cheesy rice than a risotto. My server was great and super friendly though!

Mason was an incredible bartender tonight - he got us drinks and food right before closing before our flight. And he did it with incredible kindness - give this man a raise!

We had time to kill at MSP, so stopped at the Mimosa for a late lunch. The place was basically empty. We bellied up to the bar and the bartender advised us that we had to order and pay from a digital menu. It was an impersonal experience, but the food was good. We had a french dip, the bread and meat were very warm and the au jus was flavorful. The salad was fresh and the fries crisp and piping hot. We left to pick up some items and returned for a pre-flight beer. My credit card would not work the 2nd time around. According to the bartender, that's a common occurrence with the credit card companies declining 2nd charges to the Mimosa. I offered to pay cash and the bartender had to call a manager over to verify and take my cash! Well, the manager wasn't available for cash transactions. I got a nice cold glass of ice water instead. What a disappointing experience!

Here's a rundown of our amazing meal: Starters: The Kanpachi CRUDO, POMMES DAUPHINES (with amazing gruyère dipping sauce) and Chilled GREEN GAZPACHO (they split this for us since it's a soup) were all fantastic. Entrees: The Walleye was great and we really enjoyed the AMERICAN WAGYU STEAK butchers cut. They all had great and unique flavors. Desserts: The server recommended the peach cobbler and we received a delicious complimentary sundae since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Cocktails: I really enjoyed the Paper Plane since I like tequila and my husband liked his Old Fashion. The Spritz was also refreshing. The server did a great job pacing everything, and was knowledgeable with the menu and the waitstaff was polite and attentive. We reserved a table outside since it was a nice summer day and enjoyed our little spot along the restaurant. Other tips: We found free parking in the lot at the building at 5:00. Make reservations several weeks in advance if you want a table since this place is super popular. The location used to be the Revival restaurant if you are familiar with the area or the previous restaurant. We would definitely dine here again and it's one of my favorite restaurants now. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

However, Bûcheron, located in Kingfield, one of the most down-to-earth neighborhoods in Minneapolis, deserved all its accolades. We grabbed two seats at the small bar, and I was immediately wary. The woman behind the bar, while professional, was ice cold. She warmed up later, but what registered from her affect was that we weren't worthy of dining in this esteemed restaurant. It was off-putting, but she was friendlier later in the evening. I'm old, so that might be it too. Many younger people in the Twin Cities don't like old men. Bûcheron's space is small and homey, tying in well with the Kingfield neighborhood. It's cozy and unpretentious. I liked that. The food was scrumptious. Everything tasted wonderfully, and there wasn't even one miss. The menu changes constantly, so listing the dishes might be moot. However, the Pomme Dauphines, gazpacho soup, halibut, and sticky toffee cake made us sigh with pleasure. On a Monday night, the place was packed, but it empties early. That's typical in the Twin Cities. Late dining is not in vogue. However, Bûcheron is popular, so make reservations early. For the 12 months that we have lived in the Twin Cities, Bûcheron and Myrial provided our best meals. Bravo and Brava! Both were priced fairly, providing bang for your buck. I don't need cheap, but I yearn for great. Bûcheron provided great.

They were fresh, light, and had an excellent texture. Everything else was pretty disappointing. The broccoli and cheese soup was bland, and the broccoli seemed more grated than chopped, giving it an odd texture. The prime rib was nothing special and lacked the flavor and tenderness you'd expect from a supper club. The twice-baked potato was dry and didn't add much to the meal. The Wisconsin Old Fashioned was another letdown. I ordered it sweet, but it was surprisingly bitter and not enjoyable. As someone who's had plenty of Wisconsin Old Fashioneds, I'd give this one about a 4 out of 10. It also didn't help that the dining room was extremely hot on a warm summer day. It was uncomfortable enough that it took away from the overall experience, and it didn't seem like the air conditioning was keeping up. To top it all off, the prices felt much higher than what was delivered. For the quality and portion sizes, the value just wasn't there. I don't mind paying more for a great supper club meal, but this simply didn't justify the cost. Overall I left disappointed. Aside from the excellent popovers, the food, drinks, atmosphere, and value all fell short of expectations.

We arrived a bit early for our reservation and were seated right away (woo hoo!). Our awesome server, Nico, came by right away with menus, which we eagerly began to peruse. I was stoked to see that they still have an amazing selection of creative zero proof options on the drink menu. I went for a non-alcoholic bubbly (yum!). The menu had some old favorites (hello, piquillo peppers) and some new things. I highly recommend the smashed cucumbers. They are so refreshing and well-balanced. The dill yogurt foam is creamy and tart, and the pickled Fresno peppers and garlic add just the right amount of bright bite. Another don't-miss is the fry bread. Fry bread is delicious however it comes, but this came with whipped ricotta and salsa macha (which became my favorite condiment of all time when it first graced my lips here several years ago) and the loveliest smoked beets I have ever had. (Full disclosure: I am pretty sure they are the only smoked beets I have ever had, which is a crying shame.) For my main, I ordered the cabbage, which was beautifully caramelized and topped with a delightfully umami-heavy mushroom gravy and cloud of grated cheese. It tasted like comfort and home. Bliss! For dessert, I had the tarta de queso, which is one of my favorite desserts in the Twin Cities; creamy and light with just a hint of sweet, this one is a winner, and I am sad it took me so long to discover.

But do get it on a Tuesday night! We did also do the Cheesecake. I might not be the best person to judge as I don't normally pick the cheesecake but I found this one to lack a lot of flavor and it did seem a bit like the vanilla wafer topping might have been a bit stale. The place itself was great. We sat on the patio which is small and on the sidewalk but inside there are lots of cozy booths and a fun bar. And our server was great as well.
