Great concept! This is a good looking airport restaurant. You sit down and order from a provided iPad. You swipe your credit card and wait for your order. The waiter brings it to you promptly. Meanwhile you can use the iPad to browse the web. However, when you don't have human waiters taking your order strange things can happen! I ordered the Oysters which seemed like a great price. There was a photo of a dozen oysters on ice. When my order arrived, there was *ONE* single oyster. The *text* on the photo said "West Coast Oyster" (not plural, in spite of the photo). You need to specify a quantity. (I'm glad eggs aren't sold this way). Beyond that it's a mid-high price good looking airport restaurant that's notably high-tech. Certainly worth stopping. Hands down one of the better places to order food before flying in MSP. The atmosphere is modern and clean, with iPads at each seat and a credit card swipe to expedite the ordering process. There is even a feature to remind you about your flight so make sure you stay on track. Many people have complained about the prices and yes, they are higher than usual. But this is an airport and even McDonald's is going to raise their rates. The only negatives are 1. you have to tip in advance. With this model, service has to be perfect each and every time or people will feel like they are paying for something that they do not receive. 2. because of the minimal interaction with wait staff, unless you sit at the bar, getting a refill of your water glass is more time consuming than it should be. Airport dining has evolved! I've had food and drinks at Mimosa and their sister establishment, Minnibar, on several occasions, and the food, beer (I am a big Surly fan), and service have always been very good. The iPad ordering is kind of cool, kind of wonky, but it works out okay. Some reviews show concern about tipping up front, but I've always had good service. Have a little faith, flyers! The menu is just like a "regular" restaurant with salads, apps, sandwiches, and some pretty nice entrees like moules et frites. Pro tip: the poutine starter makes a really nice meal. It's a full bar that even serves some impressive cocktails - check out Thyme to Fly: thyme liqueur & champagne! I am a craft beer guy, so I steer toward whichever Surly or other local brew is on tap. Gone are the days of watery domestics as your only beer choice en route! I was just chatting with a server and she tipped me off that they even have Bell's Hopslam - a fantastic limited release seasonal IPA. At an airport bar! Yes, it's a little pricey, but show me another place at an airport that charges street prices for their wares. I was really impressed by their salmon dish. Wow, plenty of flavor between the dates, nuts, and crisp kale sprinkled on top, and perfectly cooked with just enough butter and salt. It wasn't worth the $27 price tag, but it was really, really tasty. Served over a bed of buttery orzo, it was one of the better dishes I've had at an airport (but just so expensive!) Relatively speedy service (under 15 minutes) and friendly bartenders willing to make suggestions if you need them. A good spot for an indulgent airport meal if you have lots of time. Overpriced even for an airport restaurant and bad food. The iPads at each table are an interesting gimick and are partly useful. You can pay at your table with a credit card when you order to make sure you're not waiting for your check as your plane is boarding. MSP airport: you can hoof it around the food court and eat pretty well for semi-cheap (Famiglia pizza!) or you can spend more, sit in a cushy half-booth by the G gates (or in the actual restaurant, for better ambiance), order on an iPad with a sweet online menu with photos of everything, and have fancy food brought to you. It seems a lot of people balk at the iPad ordering, but I'm not in this for the social contact. With the iPad you can order when you're ready, see a photo of the dish, and pay in a matter of seconds by swiping your card at the table. If you need something, don't crane your neck and wait around trying to spy your server--tap the Assistance button, request a server, and your server promptly shows up. My crab cakes and fries arrived very quickly--the server didn't blink when I declined ketchup and asked for some more of the lemon aioli (which was nicely tart and rich). The food itself was pretty solid. Crab cakes were classic and tasty if a bit lukewarm and pale. Rosemary fries barely tasted of rosemary but were an excellent vehicle for aioli. Fries came in the old-school white paperboard boat, quarantined in a larger cardboard box (inelegant but it did keep the fry grease off my table and therefore off my electronics that were charging). Why not a plate? $3.59 for a Diet Coke? All in all, if I'm hungrier next time I'm flying out of MSP I'll try the steak. read more

Ok, number one, if you don't take cash it should be on signs everywhere. Sat at the bar and ordered a wiskey diet from the bartender. The bartender brought me the drink, played with the tablet in front then said swipe your card. I told him I was paying cash and had a $20 bill out. He then, after I ordered says they don't take cash. I said well I'll go to a bar that does then and started to leave. He said give me the cash and I'll run my card. Gave him $20, he swipes his card then leaves without giving me any change!!! At first it's shocking to see all the iPads everywhere. The menu is limited as is the service. The food is seriously low quality. I had the French dip and fries. The meat was dry and over peppered, fries were bland and coke was really flat. I would have said something had anyone asked how it was. No one ever greats you or ever returns during or after your meal. And you tip? Note; You order from a pad, the tip is requested in advance. Ipad is in place of service and a tip is encouraged? I had a bartender speak to me when I first sat down. He was personable. He suggested a draft and then explained how the ordering works. The next time someone spoke to me was when my lunch came out. He stopped back by, brought water. NOTHING again. I have bartended and waited tables in my life. This was one of the worst service experiences ever and I left a tip? Who was the tip for? The IPAD? Concept might be good if the service was supported by human interaction otherwise we might as well have picked up lunch and a drink out of a machine. Over priced menu items as well. Wow, I am extremely impressed. I'm stuck here in the St. Paul airport and saw this cool concept for dinner. I thought I'd give it a try. First off, amazing wine selections. Prices are a little high but for a wino like me, it was refreshing to see good and obscure selections. I chose the Delas, Côtes du Rhône for 8 bucs. It automatically had a page with entree suggestions because of the wine I chose. Awesome, I chose the Grilled Rib-Eye, medium rare. Wow is all I could say. I can't believe this only has 3 stars. The rib eye was perfectly cooked and loaded with amazing flavor. My favorite part was the potatoes, drenched with delicious sautéed butter it was such a nice treat before my flight home. Go Big! On the outside, Mimosa appears to be fancier than what it actually is. Each spot is equipped with a tablet for ordering, which might have been designed for convenience, yet it more successfully delays the order since the tablet is loaded with annoying bloatware.. Ignoring the automated service, I wasn't too excited to eat my caesar salad with chicken. The head of lettuce was not entirely crisp and the chicken looked so processed that I still have doubts it was real. I was traveling through this airport, and I was in the mood for a chamomile tea with honey, and this place offered a wonderful chamomile tea in a very nice decanter. One of the fun highlights of waiting for a connecting flight, charging your wireless device and eating good but pricey food. I've never written a review on Yelp before but had to in this instance. I accidentally left may laptop at this restaurant and thought it was gone for good. When I came back 3 days later, the manager (Jason) called my server from that night on his cell phone, found out he turned it in at an adjacent Delta gate, and personally went down to lost and found to check. Turns out they had it and Jason was able to get it returned to me and I was even able to catch my flight in the nick of time. Truly above and beyond the call of duty! read more

My husband & I ate breakfast at this Mimosa. The order was placed using an iPad and paid by swiping a credit card before you see any food. An automatic 18% tip was added to the bill. A person actually delivered the food. Fortunately my husband noticed there was no fruit on his French toast so that was returned before the delivery person could escape. 5 minutes later, the French toast was returned but by that time it was cold. I actually liked this place! We came here for breakfast before a 11 am flight - We were able to sit, order & eat within 30 minutes and the food was actually pretty good. I had tea, a side of bacon, and crepes suzette. The crepes were pretty tasty (warm, orangey with ice cream on top) and the bacon was done well. My honey had the standard american breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausage. The service was prompt (not many people in the place, I suppose) and the food was better than standard airport fare. I predict this establishment will fail. The overall experience was horrible! First I have to touch an iPad screen to order that's been touched by who knows who? Sitting here I haven't witnessed any previous screens being cleaned after patrons leave...Eeewwwww! The ordering process isn't intuitive at all, my order was quite messed up and re-ordering is a beach (female dog pronunciation). Also if I'm doing everything to get my food, who gets my tip? Apple? This place is insanely overpriced and the food isn't that good. Had a tasteless steak salad and shared a fishy tasting crab cake plus cold fries. Had a mojito that was too sweet and not well made.
