Diners Beware. There was nothing fine dining about this restaurant. More like find a new restaurant. My wife and I decided to patron this restaurant for Valentine's Day. There was a special for 2 that included three courses for $145. We made reservations at arrived at 7:30. Packed dining room which was great to see since this was our first time. We also had to bring our infant with us, and the wait staff didn't greet us until 7:45. Not ideal, but they were busy. Only three waiters for a packed dining room. They also had no direction or host greeting diners. Finally they took us to our table, which hadn't been bussed. So they made us wait an additional 10 minutes while they got it cleaned off. What's the point of a reservation if you're not guaranteeing me a clean table at the time of arrival? We were sat down and the couple next to us wished us good luck as they said they were waiting for their food nearly an hour. Yikes. It took the wait staff another 10 minutes to bring us water and menus. Luckily we had looked online so we knew all three course what to order. I also asked for a drink menu and ordered a martini. As I looked around at other diner's experiences, the wait staff looked so confused and were bringing random food to all the tables to figure out what went where. This is the basics of running a dining room. If you can't remember or properly communicate together, write it down with table numbers. It's that easy. The couple next to us finally got their first course which looked no better than what you could get at HyVee, and literally one minute later they were trying to push their entree's on them as well. Absolutely ridiculous. How dare you make diners wait so long to get food, and then try to rush them when it's finally ready. That couple got up and left. We got our first course which the potstickers tasted almost like the ones from Trader Joe's. Makes me question if Chef Mike(Microwave) was involved in the cooking that evening. My scalloped potatoes were unseasoned and bland. Then the staff brings me over a beer, which I had completely forgot about my martini. Definitely did not order a beer. We weren't done with our 1st course and the same waitress pushed our entrees on us, but at this point, we just wanted to eat what was edible and leave. We ordered our Filet Mignon medium rare, and let me tell you, that steak was still mooing. Completely raw, cold in the middle, and likely unsafe to eat. The waiter finally brought my martini which had melted from sitting at the pass too long, and I asked to leave and pay for only my appetizers. The only good thing that came from this experience was the waiter being understanding and even agreed that the night was a disaster and expensed our meal. We took off at 8:30p, and got home, put our son to bed, and while my wife was doing that, I made a romantic dinner at home. Moral of the story here, if you can't run a competent kitchen with a competent staff, turn your restaurant into a buffet or close. At this point you'd find a better Steak at Texas Roadhouse by a country mile. First, Katie our server deserves a raise. And Lisa was attentive and absolutely kind and made it right. Blue Birch deserves to be shut down. I ordered the Yoshi Burger MEdium Well and it was absolutely terrible. Raw! Lemme say it again, raw flesh in my mouth. I tasted raw hamburger and cut into the burger and it was bright red cow flesh. Fries were soggy. Taco salad was basic and chicken tasted processed. When they asked me if I wanted another burger I said no way. But I would like another option but the kitchen left for the night. After 20 minutes of being here. Kitchen not just closed but chefs gone. Branding made me think this was going to be on point as a vibe... it was a total dive! Many things went well, just met my dad for breakfast on a Friday morning. I didn't want to meet at a chain restaurant and wanted to explore near by spots. This absolutely fit the bill. We did the buffet and there was a lot! Staff being friendly was a super plus! The space was open and bright! Dad wants to bring his retiree group here for the 1x/month breakfast group, you have made a friend! ( am sure you if the group wanted a semi quiet spot... seemed that could be arranged!) This was the one disappointment I had with my stay at this Marriott property. The lunch and dinner menus are nice and priced accordingly. Good food for the most part. The daily breakfast buffet? $18ish per guest for a meal that other Marriott properties provide for free. smh Limited staff as would be expected with a buffet. Eggs from a bottle, bacon, sausage, pancakes, fruit, grab and go fruit and yogurt, and toast your own bagels and bread. Had breakfast here and waited a good half hour to get my food. Just eggs, hash-browns, bacon and toast. Sat on the outdoor patio, which is very lovely! Nice pools with goldfish and water fountain. I have not been here for about 3 years and I see on the edge of the pool there is now an ugly stainless steel bar blocking the lovely pool view from all the tables! Ugh! I like to keep my reviews positive but this one was hard. The staff was not able to recommend a single good dish, they looked confused, like they had not eaten there or if there was nothing good. I was pleasantly suprosed that the burger pattie was very good. The fries were soggy and not crispy at all. But the biggest let down were the house smokey rub wings. Good God add a lot of salt and some sugar and you get the same inconsistent overly salted flavor. It was a no go for me. It was sad, because they are sure not cheap. read more

This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant. This time was a huge disappointment! Still a very nice atmosphere, but the menu has been slashed. No longer have any entrees or the bowls, only appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. The walleye sandwich was horrible! Quite obviously fried in old grease, it tasted like old grease and came on a dry bun with No tartar sauce or anything on it. Just 2 small filets slapped on a bun. Ick! My partner had the philly steak sandwich which was somewhat better but was also served dry. No au jus to dip into. Blue Birch is located inside a Marriott hotel and is a nicely designed hotel bar/restaurant. It is modern with a clean design, plenty of sunlight from giant windows, and a nice outdoor space with fire pits, tables with umbrellas, and a fountain. Their space is one of the most positive parts of dining there. I stopped by for a happy hour with a coworker and we started with a round of beer and wine. The wine list doesn't include anything spectacular and the bottle are ones I wouldn't choose to purchase if I could avoid them. Their beer list however is good - lots of local beers on tap or in bottles and cans. We followed those drinks up with martinis. The cocktails at Blue Birch struggle. We were automatically given a rail gin for the martinis and they weren't strained and were full of ice. One coworker got a Manhattan and the complaints were similar. Finally, our servers were friendly and were working hard, but they must have been understaffed because service was slow. We asked for waters a few times and didn't receive them until we were leaving. It was probably the busiest I've ever seen the restaurant, so I can't put too much weight in the service being slower than usual. Overall, this is a good spot to grab a beer after work or if you're staying in the hotel, but I wouldn't recommend a special trip to visit. read more

We stood at the connecting Marriott for 5 days and ate here each morning for breakfast and several times for dinner. Breakfast was great (and included depending on your Marriott status) and our server was the best - he was super friendly and very accommodating. For dinner, I rate lower.. felt overpriced and the cocktails were heavy on the bitters. In summary, definitely come for breakfast and your best bet is a bowl off the dinner menu and a beer or spirit served neat for dinner. read more

The food here is ok but the service is glacially slow. You pay a lot for the food but what you get is very wee, and on a huge plate almost to rub it in that they are messing with you. I actually just walked out as a hotel guest after waiting a long, long time to have someone take my order. It also took a long, long time to even get a menu. This is on my second visit. A solid three for a hotel restaurant. The bar and restaurant have a variety of seating and several TV's to enjoy when traveling solo. The menu is really large, which is a rare find at a hotel restaurant, and allows for good variety especially if you stay at this Marriott property often. I'm not impressed with the beer or wine list. Given the immense amount of craft breweries in MN, let alone the U.S., they haven't plucked for most of them for their offerings. Service is pleasant, not always quick, but adequate. read more

The service was okay and that's being somewhat nice. The decor was nice, trendy place, could definitely see hanging out at the bar but not at the prices they were charging for breakfast. Best hotel room service I've had in a long time! My food arrived on time; burger, fries, soda, and bottled water. Food was hot and delicious and the fries were perfectly crispy. We were hotel guests over the weekend and we visited late Sunday evening right before they were closed. The server was so helpful and the food was very good. I am usually hesitant to eat lunch in hotel restaurants. Blue Birch blew me away. Their lunch menu had tons of healthy salads and noodle bowls. I had the grilled vegetable quinoa salad with grilled salmon. It was the perfect size with crunchy veggies, a huge piece of salmon and the vinaigrette was light and tasty. The server was very timely and a manager stopped by to check on our meal, which was really comforting. The lobby is beautiful, which makes for a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I spent 5 days at the Marriott and 5 days at this restaurant/bar. The sweet and spicy fries and truffle chips are highly recommended. They also have great pickles. My favorite part was the bar with Nick and Jen. They both made some of the best lemon drops that I ever had. I also had some tasty mimosas made by Elmer. Bennet was very professional and hustled when there was a busy afternoon rush. Not only did everyone behind the bar make great drinks they also provided service with a smile. As a consumer I have never had better service. Their prices are very reasonable and their drinks were made just the way I liked them. I wish I was a local so that I could become a regular but if I was a local I know I would get in a lot of trouble. read more

Not bad but overpriced as usual nothing special. Will try it for dinner sometime but, not super excited about the possibilities. Nearly impossible to get two in the opus complex. Went there for breakfast, The air was cold by our table. The coffee was luke warm so we asked for hot coffee which the gladly replaced, we had the breakfast buffet. Ambiance was nice. My husband was disappointed as he thought it would be nicer and not so average. The buffet food was also barely warm. I noticed others were also cold at their table.
