Every piece of fish = yummy, fresh, and I loved the wasabi touch + light seasonings for the fish. Didn't had to use any soy sauce or anything for this. Plus, the price here is definitely reasonable for the high quality fish :) Can't wait to come back and try out more of the sushi rolls and do another round of the omakase set.

I recommend the Omakase selection, but if you want to start out with just a simple roll, try the Stone Way roll and splurge on the Cucumber Unagi appetizer. Tried Moriyama Sushi based on those reviews and was so happy that we did. Everything was delicious and fresh. The young sea bream was great. The geoduck was fresh and very good (my first time trying it). I didn't do the omakase, but pretty much went with the chef's suggestions... so happy that I did. All of the staff were super friendly. The meal definitely made me wish that we lived here as opposed to just visiting. Definitely a return spot for us if we get back to Seattle.

If they use five-spice powder, I couldn't really tell since I was popping the chicken into my mouth as fast as I could without burning myself. It's super juicy and flavorful. I didn't get any hard bits of connective tissue despite it being made from deboned chicken thigh. I would get this again! I also got to try some wings. Their wings were super moist. When the order came out, the wings were piping hot. Biting into them would release a gush of hot juices, nearly causing a burn. I actually did burn myself, so I couldn't tell the seasoning as much, but they were delicious. Service was fast, and there were a bunch of people getting takeaways.

The chef himself is on the quieter side (which I prefer) and so sweet. The food itself was pretty yummy. Standout items were the sesame tofu thing that was served in the appetizer tray, the king salmon, the soup, the barramundi, and the wagyu. I found the salmon salad to be an interesting choice since it was served with tartar sauce. And the uni had a strong gas-like taste, which was a bit off putting. Everything else was standard fare. Overall, a solid omakase experience! I'll just point out that they didn't ask for allergies in the beginning, so we had to tell them mid-meal. They also didn't do anything special for my friend's birthday which was sad. But service was really smooth and nice, and the food was solid.

For $170, the price is was on par with some of the well established omakase/kaiseki locations such as LTD Sushi, Sushi Suzuku, and etc. My overall feeling of the night was a mixture of this is just OK and oh that was different. The food unfortunately didn't leave that memorable of an impression on me. Like another reviewer had already mentioned, because there's a mixture of tables and bar seating and what seemed like lack of staff, the chef had to cut all the fish for everyone dining there that night and leave it sitting out for 30-45 min. He presented it on a nice platter, but it was still just sitting out for a long time before they were served. The only piece of fish that I thought was really good and different was the akami served with a touch of honey mustard. The akami was prepared super well, very soft and the honey mustard added an unexpected flavor that I didn't know was going to hit the way it did. So kudos on that. There were also some weird ones like the orange potato au gratin dish that replaced the chawanmushi. It was oddly sweet...and was just really weird and didn't feel like it was a good addition/replacement on the menu. Service wise, our servers were really attentive in terms of removing finished plates and refilling water, but where it really left a bad taste in our mouths was how it felt like we were treated by the head chef. The couple next to us got the $300/pp kaiseki and it felt like they were treated better than us because they had spent more money. The head chef was on their side the whole time, smiling and exchanging playful banter (as much as he could since he wasn't a fluent English speaker) but didn't look at us once. It was only us and the other couple at the bar so you can imagine how awkward this was. I tried many times to make eye contact but felt like his gaze was somehow averted every time. What really hit home was the fact that the person who served us our nigiri at the bar was their hot foods chef that didn't seem to know what he was doing. He had to ask the head chef numerous times throughout the night on whether or not the nigiri was prepped correctly before serving it to us...and he looked like he had trouble handling the nigiri in general. They turned out fine, but it really felt like we were given second class treatment because we paid less. If this place left a better impression on me with the $170/pp option, I was considering going back for the $300/pp option, but after seeing what the other couple got in terms of food and my experience, I think this place is a one time try for me.

I made a reservation weeks in advance and came in a couple minutes before our reservation time. Parking is pretty bad especially when there's an event nearby (we parked at Safeway..) When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and sat by the chef. And then given warm towels. The space itself is small, cute, and pretty thoughtful. There's baskets to put your personal belongings, phone charging stations, phone stands, and little trays to put your phone, keys, etc. There was only one other group that dined there that night, so a total of 4 people. There was a divider between us, so we didn't interact at all. The chef was sweet, pretty quiet, but so knowledgeable and informative. Being right at the sushi bar, it was so much fun watching him prep all the courses. Overall, the meal was outstanding. There wasn't a single bite that I didn't enjoy. The uni was spectacular, I could've had 14 more little scoops of that crab, the eel literally melted in my mouth, I've never had such tender eel, the tilefish was delectable, I could've had 14 bowls of that miso soup at the end, and definitely could've eaten 14 more scallops served over an ice block. So delicious and so worth the price tag. At the very end was dessert, and a little birthday surprise for the birthday boy! All in all, it was an 11/10 experience (better than kashiba) and I'll certainly be back to try chef's new menus in other months!
