Food was delicious and hot as always. This time around I was a little disappointed in the service. It seemed a bit off. Our order was taken right away and the food came out quickly. The waitress never came back to check and see if everything was ok and our coffee never got refilled and we were never asked if we wanted water. Stumbled here looking for a late lunch and although I was wary to eat here I am so glad I walked thru the door. Pleasant and helpful staff, well rounded menu, and local flavor for days. We split the soup of the day (which they were kind enough to divide into 2 bowls) and the special of the day - Cuban with fries (my weakness) Well seasoned soup (perfect for a cold day) and a perfect Cuban sandwich were devoured (but not before I took a photo). Most of the time, the breakfast food is perfectly fine, and the price is right. Sometimes, the service can be spotty. We still come for our brunches often. Can be very loud. Very close knit clientele. Better volume control in summer when the windows can be opened. All in all, a good choice on route 81, where there are not a lot of sit down options. read more

The Copper Skillet is American food at its best. It's just delicious stick to your ribs country fare. The menu is extensive with daily specials. However they aren't like a diner where there are tons of selections that are mediocre at best. I ordered the cheeseburger club and substituted onion rings for the French fries. My portion was large. The meat was perfectly cooked and juicy. The onion rings had a lovely batter and were light as a feather. Even the coleslaw was delicious and was not dripping in juice. For dessert we had their home made tapioca pudding. Just wonderful light and a generous portion. Perhaps one of the nicest part of our dinner was our server Erica. She was a delight and made us feel welcome and nurtured. You can't go wrong with stopping at the Copper Skillet going to or from the Connecticut Shore. This place is a treasure. The Cooper Skillet saved my life. So say it with me Copper Skillet... if you live in town, well then Cooper Skillet. If you are on vacation, definitely Cooper Skillet. If you are passing through, gotta stop at the "Skillet." Or - like me - you are new to the area and you are looking for the one place that says "Home", that treats a "newcomer" like family, that serves real home cooked food, say Cooper Skillet. Before I go further, I have to thank Maria and Nick. Immigrants from Greece they poured their life into the Cooper Skillet and of course they gave us the "next generation" Bill and Dennis who work the kitchen like you came to their house for breakfast or lunch - which brings me to the FOOD. Ready - there is no such thing as a bad meal at the Skillet, it doesn't exist. This is real food cooked without fancy names, or pretentious presentations; big portions, and - yup - hot if that is what you ordered. OK there is one problem - everything is so good the first time, it's hard to want to try something else! but thankfully I have. Here is just a sampling: Eggs Benedict - and not just one kind but 3-4, all are classics. Breakfast potatoes are addicting - there, I warned you. Pancakes are not an afterthought and there are plenty to choose from. Even something simple like eggs over with polish sausage and English muffin is plentiful and full of flavor. So the Skillet is breakfast and lunch. Warning - the Hungry Man is not for the faint of heart - but and this is important - the meat is top quality because you feel satisfied and not weighed down. Remember real foot-long hot dogs? I think The Skillet's a foot-an-half! Get a "stuffed" sandwich and guess what, its actually stuffed! The fish sandwich with cheese was crispy on outside flaky on the inside. Onion Rings, French fries and slaw are all perfect compliments. I ordered a bacon, tomato, onion and cheddar omelet - perfect. Belgian Waffles with strawberries and whip cream Forgetaboutit! Waitresses Deb and Paulette are simply family serving family but, on the run, of course. This is a social place where regulars talk about everything, but my first few times there I knew no one and felt right at home. Causal and family-owned. I had a short stack of french toast with bacon. I liked that the french toast was the size that you'd prepare for yourself at home. My husband ordered the eggs benedict which comes with homefries. You can tell the have the potatoes sit on the stove/griddle and get cripsy on one side. Personally I like all my homefries to be crispy all over with get a little more tender-ness on the insides. The server was nice and refreshed my hot coffee many times. Stopped in for lunch. This is near enough to my wife's office. For lunch today I had the gyro platter. The Greek salad it came with is for true feta lovers. They don't skimp. This came with a gyro which came out very hot so literally right off the grill. The fries also very fresh. For the wife a roast beef sandwich with lettuce tomato mayo bacon and a pickle. The Copper Skillet has been the lowest point in my exploration of the dining options in this area. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll with a side of fries for lunch since I had had to skip breakfast that morning due to being time crunched. I got off my shift at 6pm and by the time I got home I started feeling sick. By 10pm it was clear to me that I had food poisoning and since I had eaten nothing other than the food from The Copper Skillet that day, it was obvious where it came from. I was up all night, getting physically ill many times. I had to miss work the next day which not only cost me a day's worth of pay, it also put my elderly client in danger with the possibility of our company not being able to find a temp on such short notice. The point is, if you work with food and are serving the public, please make sure you are keeping food in appropriate conditions and are handling the food properly. When customers come to your restaurant we are trusting that you take our health seriously. Unfortunately, I will not be trusting the Copper Skillet with my health again. read more

We had been here once before years ago after visiting the lavender farm and loved it, so when we made another trip to the lavender farm this year, lunch here was a no-brainer. We ordered from the car and food was ready to be picked up in less than 15 minutes. Though indoor dining was open & tables were appropriately separated, it was a beautiful day so we ate outside at one of the few tables. Debbie took our order and gave us our food & she was welcoming and friendly & made me feel like a regular. Our order was simple- just some sandwiches, but they were well made. California Eggs Benedict, Omelettes, Pancakes and breakfast sandwiches are the best around. The Cheeseburger Deluxe platter with mayo on the burger, is better tasting than that famous burger the King serves. The outdoor seating during COVID was a great addition to serving their guests. This a family run business. I've been here a couple of times and the food is good. The place is very cozy, the staff is very friendly, and the cooks are funny. Plus, the price is very reasonable. I recently ordered their homemade corned beef and hash with well done home fries. It was fresh and I really appreciated that I got well done home fries. I've been to some places where the restaurant did not listen and gave me a regular order of home fries (boo). Outside the restaurant are ginormous sunflowers. Check it out! My family recently moved to Clinton and have been on the search for a good local diner. The Copper Skillet seems very out of the way and when you pull up it doesn't look like much but the food is surprisingly great! The service was so-so, nothing more than you expected in the type of setting, but not necessarily rude. The food was completely unexpected and amazingly cheap. The turkey club had thick sliced roasted turkey, not cheap deli-meat. The bacon was thick and crisp and the portions were filling. For lunch for four adults and a child our meal came to $35, and that included drinks and a tip! We will definitely be going back, maybe to try breakfast! read more

The place is a very simply-decorated luncheonette. However, it's worth a trip for the food. Burgers are great. The turkey club was the best I've had in 20 years; they roast their own turkey and use good bacon and tomatoes -- a peak experience! Potato salad and coleslaw are made here and it shows. Like everything else here, it was colossal (we ordered the "large" 'cause we thought for $5.95 the "small" wouldn't do it - we were wrong). If you are wearing a face mask for COVID precautions please don't bother to go here. You will not be waited on if you are wearing a mask. The servers will not even make eye contact with you. I was here yesterday with a friend (both of us wearing face masks) and the servers ignored us. They would not wait on us even when there were no other customers waiting to be served. Other customers without face masks came in after we did and they were greeted and their orders were taken immediately while we sat at our table waiting for service. After waiting 10 minutes we realized that we were being ignored intentionally, so we left. The servers watched us get up and leave and did not apologize or call us back.
