The cart servers were very friendly and accommodating with their willingness to cut pieces in two or to serve a bit more sauce if asked. The best part was no one complained about the food. Given the dearth of good Dim Sum in Sacramento and restaurants with cart service, I turned to Yelp for help. Ming Dynasty got some favorable reviews and the photos looked good so we gave it a shot. Nice location on Broadway across from Target. Ample parking on both sides of the building and of course lots more across the street at Target. Success! We arrived just after they opened (11:00 AM) on a Friday. Several tables were already occupied and by 11:30, most were occupied. We were warmly greeted (manager?) and escorted to a spacious table for 4. There are plenty of 4 top and larger round tables for bigger parties. The place is spacious with nice distance between tables. Overall the place is a bit dated but seemed quite clean. Staff were plentiful and dressed in traditional uniforms. We took our time (1 hour) to savor and there were 4-5 well stocked carts constantly circulating. There were also other staff refilling our teapot and inquiring if we had other needs. In fact, towards the end of our meal we were patiently waiting for the dessert cart and a hostess took notice and asked if she could get us something. We asked for some Egg Tarts and she went straight to the cart and brought them to us (over and above!). There was a very good variety of items on the carts as well as menu items that could be ordered from the kitchen. Hot foods were hot and cold were cold, as they should be. We really liked the Siu Mai (very generous), Shrimp Dumplings, Shrimp Rice Noodles, Deep Fried Pork Dumplings, Deep Fried Shrimp Balls and a couple more steamed items (forgot names) and the aforementioned Egg Tarts. With one exception, everything was very good. The Shrimp Rice Noodles were disappointing - very generous but the sauce was devoid of flavor and the shrimp tasted a little off. Cart staff were very friendly and helpful, offering to cut larger items, offering more sauce and patient In explaining items. After our meal the same hostess inquired about our visit and offered to process our bill. The Bill was shockingly small! Everything was priced well below what I was expecting. Ate here after a service with 75-100 people. It was clean, well organized and they had a wonderful selection of food picked out. It was hot, fresh and tasty. Not a complaint in the group. I have ate here several times after services and it has been consistent every time. The only thing is you must be careful in parking lot due the unhoused no fault of the restaurants but there were needles on the ground without tops. Dim sum is good, but not if you have a large party on a holiday. No Dim sum served on Christmas. Some of our family (15) of us celebrated Christmas lunch there Dec 2024. When I called ahead no reservations could be accepted, but we got seated quickly. I was told dim sum would be served but when we got there, we were informed no dim sum so we had to order off the menu. We rolled with it and ordered off the menu. They must have forgot we were there as it took us almost 2 hours to get our food, which was a HUGE disappointment. They initially brought out our fish, but nothing after that; we inquired several times where our food was and they kept saying it's coming. Shortly after we seen a few of the servers arguing in their native language so we assume they kept giving our food to other guests. Surprisingly good Chinese/Canto Restaurant in Sacramento when attending my sister in laws wedding. The restaurant itself was decently large and it wasn't really busy when we were there. They don't really have a dedicated "space" for a wedding party but they blocked off one of the sides for our 8 tables. Overall, I thought the service was really good! I like the dim sum here! I usually spend an arm and a leg for dim sum in Natomas so finding out this spot tastes great and is less expensive is a win. We had a large group and luckily one in our group can speak Chinese. I always think that's a plus in speeding up service. I'd have to see what service would be like otherwise. My favorites were the ha cheung shrimp rice rolls, har gow shrimp dumplings, pork siu mai, don tot egg tarts, and the pineapple buns. All very delicious! It's dim sum, so all the usual stuff applies -- it's loud, parking is irritating, there are long waits at peak times, some annoying middle aged couple who just discovered dim sum is holding a nearly-empty table for 10 waiting for their party to show up, and it's hard to get people's attention to do things like refill water. But that's not a Ming Dynasty issue -- that's every casual dim sum spot from here to Hong Kong. Every one. Stand outs include egg bun (not to be confused with egg custard), tofu wrapped steamed delicious thingy, shu mai, and shrimp balls. But you do you. This was my first time eating at dim sum, overall i thought it was ok, the customer service could be better. We ordered a few items from the dim sum menu and some items from the regular menu. We came in around 3pm so there were some things that they were already out of. I think it was just finding things that were the right texture, i was not a fan of the shrimp balls but it was the chewy texture and really pink insides for me. I like the rice paper beef, green beans, and custard. No one took our order initially and then were were asked what we wanted and they took our sheet. Then when we asked to order something else the response was "ok what do you want?" In general i think asian establishments don't focus on customer service and i think it is a cultural thing, but overall my experience was ok. After Covid, every dim sum place I've been to has discontinued the dim sum carts, so I was pretty excited to see that they still have the carts here. Went here with a large party with kids in the evening to celebrate my sister's graduation. I made a reservation beforehand to let them know to expect a big party. We went around 8 pm and were split up into two tables. They close at 10 but the kitchen closes at 9:30 I assume since they reminded us that they close at 9:30. We ordered combination chow mein and fried rice, honey walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, vegetable egg foo young, and for dimsum - hargaw, shu mai, and deep fried shrimp balls. From the get go when walking in, the customer service was disjointed and a mood buster. I don't get to go to dim sum very often, so I was looking forward to it. But despite the dim sum being pretty tasty. The customer service marshed my mellow. I came into this joint in a happy mood but left less so. After saying hello to the hostess. There was a long pause. The restaurant was 1/3 full, so it wasn't that busy. Between my arm flailings, I was able to order dim sum off the carts. The dim sum was terrific. The egg tarts was good. Thick, flaky crust. It had a gorgeous yellow, glossy custard. The fried pork dumplings were yummy. The glutinous rice crust was fried to a perfect crisp doneness. The sui mai was a hefty size. Great flavors, not to strong nor mild. The thick rice noodles with shrimp was delish. Yum. The steamed black bean spareribs were great. First of all I gotta say the ribs were expertly cut. Sometimes when I order this at dim sum places, the cuts can be sloppily cut with shards of bone; not here though. The lo mai gai (glutinous rice in lotus leaf) was good. It had Chinese sausage and egg yolk inside. Mmm. Back to my quest for hot tea. I asked (in English) the cart staff that I wanted to order tea and asked how do I do that. I got no responses, just head nods. I finally was able to stop the manager by switching my waving to throwing a flat palm (Heisman trophy style) while he walked past. He asked in Cantonese... "what do you need". I replied "hot tea please, goak bo". Goak bo is a type of chrysanthemum tea. He came back in a few minutes with the tea pot. Success, even though my meal was half over and the tea was blazing hot to drink right away. The restaurant is now full with patrons and folks waiting for a table. So without me having to go into another round of arm seizures, the woman (in the red coat) and manager was swift to come over when I waved the dim sum tally sheet up in the air. This location is one of the few dim sum spots that have servers pushing the carts around. You can also ask for a special order too. This is one of my go-to dim sum place. I've ordered dim sum take out many many times during the pandemic. It was our weekend staple. We love the variety and quality dim sum. We dined in for the first time since we have family in town. They can accommodate large parties and have several large tables in the back. The restaurant is dated and can use an update, but quite spacious. My favorites are har gow (shrimp dumplings) and har cheng fun (shrimp steamed rice rolls). The shrimps are big and tasty. Dim sum are best when shared with at least 4 or more people, so you can try more items. Each dishes usually comes in three or four pieces. The service was slow because under staff. Some of the dishes we ordered included beef chow fun, combination chow mein, salted fish fried rice, sio mai, shrimp dumplings, shrimp noodle rolls, taro puff, honey walnut shrimp, chicken feet, etc. All the dishes were flavorful and tasty; honestly one of the better chinese/dim sum restaurants I've been to. I would definitely come here again, however, the reason I'm giving this place 4 stars rather than 5 is because the owner (or manager) accidentally spilled my tea on my plate of food when placing a dish on our table and didn't accommodate/resolve the issue. This is my go to spot in town for dim sum. This place was packed on a Saturday morning. Parking does fill up although I was able to find a spot. We got great seating by the fish tanks. The carts came by very often. We were lucky enough to have a Chinese speaking friend with us. We may have gone a little overboard. We started out with tea. My wife and I had five other Yelp Elites come to Dim Sum with us. I called and ask for a reservation but we went early enough where it didn't matter. We were seated right away and got right in the middle of the restaurant next to the fish tanks. It was so nice to visit with other Elite Yelpers and at such an nice location. Good solid Cantonese food carefully prepared. I ordered the seafood fun chow dry fried, and it was delicious, it's a very simple dish. I would say they could add a few more shrimp (there were 3 medium ones) but then again, there were a lot perfectly cooked small scallops and squid that had no fishy flavor at all. Everything tasted fresh, and I loved the "wok taste" on the fun chow noodles that were slightly seared. The stir fried cod in black bean sauce is another very simple dish but very well done. The fish was perfectly cooked, there were a lot of small cod filets with tasty big hacked chunks of red and green bell pepper and onion. Plain, but that's how it's supposed to be. The chicken with mushrooms was great. Downside is that it's across from "robbery Target" near the Old City Cemetary, but it surprisingly had a lot of Chinese Americans which means the food must be authentic and good.
