Sitting the are and the day after a major snow storm. Was looking for a place to grab lunch. Saw the Ming Moon sign and it was already almost 3 so figured let's give it a shot. You order at the front desk and then sit down and they bring you your order. We were still able to get the lunch specials so I got the veggie lo main with veggie fried rice and wife got garlic shrimp also with the veggie fried rice. Only $7.50 each. $20 for 2 with two bottle waters. Couldn't beat the price and the portions. They were huge. Lo Main was solid as was the fried rice. Wife loved the garlic shrimp and he fried rice. Food was served quickly and they were very nice. Bottom line was solid Chinese food served quickly for a good price especially if you are able to get one of the lunch specials. If you have an urge for Chinese American food with no frills and good portions this is your place. Glad we walked in. read more

Here was pretty good, placed my order and everything was right as I placed it. So my seven stars around the moon, all meats were cooked perfectly and bathed the sauce, the veggies which I have admit there was more then necessary were fresh and seasoned well. Loved the egg battered shrimp, since not too much batter and the shrimp itself did not shrink when fried. As for the wonton in garlic sauce, filling was good and wonton's were very crispy and not too doughy. The sauce was very savory with a light spice. Overall pretty great meal I got here. read more

Someone picked up the phone, but did not speak. I am new to the area and did not have a welcoming experience at Ming Moon. At least I know where not to eat now. I'm from San Francisco, where there is no shortage of great Chinese food. When in stone ridge we decided to skeptically give this place a try and it was actually really delicious. We ordered enough food for an army and almost all of it was delicious and came to a total of $100. Things you should get: eggplant in garlic sauce if you like eggplant. It was tender and really well reasoned. Sesame chicken was great, and so was sweet and sour chicken (all white meat chicken) and green beans and shrimp. This place is great for takeout of pretty decent Chinese food. I wouldn't recommend sitting at the restaurant, as the ambiance leaves much to be desired-but for a yummy night in-this place was great. Warning: do not order the chow mein thinking you're getting noodles- it's just veggies. Apparently for noodles you need to say "chow fun". read more

One of the best Chinese food places in the area. Wait time after placing an order is between 10-15 mins (usually 10 though). Pricing is also good. The amount of food that they give you is also a great amount for the price. Never hungry after getting food here. The staff are always attentive and polite on the phone and in the restaurant. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

This is a great restaurant. The food is excellent and the people are very nice. They are very good with meeting the dietary needs of vegetarians (i.e. substitutions) for many dishes and I always enjoy the food. -Their black bean sauce dishes are excellent. -Steamed dumplings are good too. -Wonton soup is good. -Egg rolls, spring rolls, lo mein, fried rice, vegetarian dishes, chicken dishes are all excellent quality. -The portions are good sized and priced right. If you want something special like to spice it up or substitute tofu for meat or change a sauce they will accomodate, which is awesome. Cannot stress enough how nice and courteous the workers are! I don't understand how this place got 3 stars, much less how it's still in business. It is quiet/empty/no work or cooking going on until you order something - then takes 3 minutes for the most disgusting food you've ever eaten. Truly inedible. My experience: When I called to order they were short and rude over the phone. When I went in to pick up, the place was empty except for 2 girls and the "cook" talking at the counter. Seemed like they made my food when I got there...cut to...when I got it home...the noodles were STALE; and the chow mein consisted of warm, wilted lettuce, thick gross sauce (luke-warm) and small pellets of chicken (barely any). I'm a vegetarian, so I can't speak for the meat dishes but all the bean curd dishes are really delicious - they have the nicest tofu I've ever tasted in a take-out place. When you are eating the sesame tofu, you can almost be afraid that it's actually chicken because it's got so much texture and flavour. The portions are big and the prices are low. Every "greasy spoon" Chinese place like this one has a few specialties and here (to me) these are everything on the Szechuan side of things. I have eaten at Ming Moon at least monthly for more than a decade and have always been happy with the food and the service. Dishes are well seasoned, freshly prepared, and cooked with care. The prices are reasonable, and they've been serving up the best Chinese-American food in the region for years. That being said- if you're accustomed to eating high-end Chinese cuisine at expensive NYC eateries then you should take a moment to consider where you are before passing judgement. Did you notice the cows and the cornfields when you drove into town? Do you see much cultural diversity? I have gone to Ming Moon for 15 years. And I feel terrible to say, Change is not always good, when it comes to take out or fine dining. I have gone to many Chinese Restaurants over the years, and I have rated these restaurants in order, from the BEST to the WORST for Good Food and Good Service. Here they are as follows: 1. Mid Hudson Buffet, Kingston, New York- Good buffet and Mongolion Buffet, mediocre soup 2. Chen Young Buffet, Wappingers Falls, New York-very good buffet, but NOT good Wonton Soup. 3. Yangs Kitchen, Kerhonkson, New York- They have the best Won Ton Soup and Fried Wontons and egg rolls. 4. Ming Moon- Good fried Won Tons. Not so good soup like they used to. Change of ownership did not improve the service. And, the food has gone mildly downhill. Sorry! 5. Number One Chinese Restaurant, Rt 44 Plaza, Poughkeepsie. Incomprehensible how something as basic as a bowl of noodles could taste like this. It tastes burnt, fishy and slightly more than funky. Its the last time I order chicken lo mein (or anything else) from this sad excuse for a Chinese restaurant. You can play the WTF game with a number of their specials since they can only be identified by DNA analysis - is it pork or shrimp? Is this how it is supposed to taste? How long has it been since this chicken was alive?etc. The sesame noodles are a congealed mass that resembles linguini with Jif peanut butter. I'm getting queasy. Demand something better! read more

The previous reviewer may have had an unfortunate experience or is maybe just a food snob, but I couldn't be happier with the quality and freshness of the food offered at Ming Moon Stone Ridge. The service is excellent (always 5-10 minute) and the prices are very reasonable. As for the food, it's slighty better than average for a small town chinese take-out place,and the portions are huge! I've sampled nearly everything on the menu, and have never had a complaint. Head over heels better than the nearest 5 competitors (20 minutes North in Kingston)- it's absolutely a great place.
