My favorite dim sum in the suburbs. Before Naperville opened, I went to the Chinatown location (also good food & fast service), but I'm so glad they opened in Naperville... saves me at least 30 minutes driving, no parallel parking, and ample free parking. We typically order dim sum dishes if we have a small group or just two of us. When we come here for large birthday celebrations, we'll order entrees. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Never had issues with food quality. I called on Saturday to make a 12 p.m. reservation on Sunday for 7 people. She said they weren't taking any more reservations and it's walk-in only. When we arrived at noon, we were told it'd be a 25-minute wait which wasn't bad considering how busy it was. If you order a lot of dim sum dishes, make sure you receive all of them. They'll print your full order and staple the receipt to the dim sum menu you marked. Once the runner drops off a dish, they'll strike out the item on the receipt with their fingernail. Don't feel bad about asking where missing dishes are. If they're on the receipt, you're going to get charged for them. On the last visit, we were missing three dishes. The prior visit, we were missing one. They used to offer a 20% discount on dim sum during the week before 6pm, not sure if they still do that. There's a small, nice looking patio on the side of the building if you want to dine al fresco. read more

MingHin has a pretty good selection of what you'll normally find on standard menus. I do wish they had more soup dumplings, wonton dishes, and my favorite, Kurobuta Pork Shao (but hey! It's not Din Tai Fung!) Solid recommendation for dim sum nonetheless. read more

Absolutely love this place - best dim sum hands down. The place is clean and the items are not too oily. The servers are quick and very straight forward. We get our orders quick as well. We usually get the rice crepe, shumai, taro fried balls, tripe (my favorite). It gets really busy during lunch time. Great place to bring large parties - looking forward to be back! read more

i came here to try out their dim sum menu and i was amazed! the food is delicious and has very in depth flavors. there are a ton of options to choose from their restaurant menu to the dim sum one. the inside was beautiful from the outside to the inside. it was very spacious and i did not feel very crowded next to people. moreover, the service was wonderful and very attentive. multiple waiters came to assist us right away. the food also came to us pretty quickly even though we ordered a lot the first round. overall, i definitely recommend this place if you want to try amazing dim sum options. next time i am going to try items on their other menu and i know it will be good :) read more

I visited the original Minghin in Chinatown many years ago, so when i saw that they opened several locations in the suburbs i was extremely excited. My family and i love dim sum and it's so convenient to have delicious dim sum close to home and not have to drive into the city. All of their locations are big, spacious and nicely decorated and maintained. The service is always good and they are friendly and seat you very fast. You choose your food from a tablet and when you're ready they take it and send it to the kitchen. The tables are large and spacious, you also get hot tea and whatever else you want to drink. They start bringing your food as it comes out not all at once so it gives you a tiny break in between. They have a very large food selection to try. Most of the time their pork belly is sold out because that is their number one food item. If you get a chance to try it order it. I will always keep coming back Minghin. read more

Minghin is my go to Dim Sum place in Naperville. I've been here several times and am never disappointed. It gets pretty busy on the weekends, so I would recommend making a reservation online prior if you have a large party. I usually go with a large group and order at least 15 dishes. Service is quick and prices are reasonable. My favorite dishes there are the chicken feet and the egg tarts, but every dish is very tasty. Color me impressed! I haven't had too many experiences with Dim Sum. But this spot looked tasty and seemed like it had a good mix of authentic and Americanized options. We arrived with low expectations and were blown away at how fresh and flavorful each dish was. Every plate that came our way tasted better than the last. Everything arrived hot/warm and tasted freshly made. The complimentary tea was hot and tasty as well. Would definitely come back. The steamed pork buns, egg custard muffins, and seaweed crab sticks were especially good. But I think the honey glazed short ribs were my favorite. I had a strong dim sum craving and this did a great job satisfying it. Pro: You order from a paper menu for the dim sum and an Ipad for larger Chinese dishes. This system is a lot quicker than the traditional cart system and seems to be popular here in Chicago. Although who doesn't like being yelled at in Cantonese by an old Chinese woman fighting you for some dumplings? The restaurant is also huge and accommodate large parties and seems a lot more welcoming and friendly towards Westerners than other dim sum spots. Cons: I don't like how you have to ask for vinegar and chili oil. It should be at the table or just come standard. The dim sum menu doesn't include some of my favorites, although it does have many of the more common ones. This is a great dim sum place to bring out-of-towners. The dumplings were all packed full of meat and veggies. For the price and quality, Minghin is hard to beat, especially for being in the burbs. read more

One of our goto Chinese restaurants. Nice big/bright dining area. Adequate parking. Menu is very large and you order using iPads which is cool. They have dim sum, which is an awesome find in the suburbs. The food/value is very good. We love their Peking duck, fish dishes, and noodles. Hubby loves their chicken feet (ewww... I came here for dim sum with my family, and the food was good but the service was not. The waiters were quite rude and dismissive to my parents whenever they had questions and seemed visibly annoyed when they answered. The service from table to table also seemed to differ as we were given bowls/utensils to serve ourselves for an order of porridge, but the same waiters would pour individual serving sizes of soup for a table right next to us. Not all of the servers were bad as we had one guy who regularly checked up on us to refill tea/water, but the poor experience from a few servers left me not wanting to come again. I would have liked to give a better review as the food is not bad for the area, but I hope for an overall improvement from the wait staff. read more

We have been here about 3 times and they were all very good. Tonight was probably closer to a 4, than a 5, but still very good. To start, we have always been seated right away. The restaurant is bright, light and airy. It feels very elegant, very beautiful inside. Very clean with comfortable seating, spaced nicely apart. Servers are friendly, very efficient, always taking COVID seriously wearing masks correctly. The tea and water is always filled before you even can ask for more and the food is always fast, fresh and hot. In previous visits, we've had the sweet n sour chicken and chicken with cashew and potstickers. I remember all of it being a 5. Great flavor, not too thick of a breading on the chicken, lots of chunks of pineapple. Tonight we had the mongolian beef and the orange chicken. The mongolian beef had large cuts of beef with slices of sweet and green onions, red peppers and pepper flake. I don't do spicy and we forgot to ask for not spicy, but it was actually fine. The sauce was flavorful and plentiful. The beef was slightly chewy. The orange chicken pieces were decent chunks, but the breading was a bit heavy. There was plenty of flavorful orange sauce covering the chicken. We washed it down with more than a pot of jasmine tea and a glass of peach tea with tapioca beads. Tapioca beads were sweet with a brown sugar flavor, but probably would get the tea w/o the beads next time. Not a fan of the chewy texture when drinking tea. The total was $39 w/o tip. Definitely our favorite chinese restaurant which also offers dim sum, which is great. read more

Some co-workers invited me out to lunch. I was a little apprehensive, since I had never been here before. I ordered bbq rice with veggies to be on the safe side. They ordered, a variety of things to share. I continued, to stay on the safe side and tried the crab rangoon and pot stickers which were very good. Would I try it again? Yes! Love this place, my first time being here. The servers are really attentive and friendly, I love how there's unlimited teas and the tablet ordering makes it easy to just click your desired orders. My friend ordered a lot. 4 stars because the noodle seems like it didn't cook so well not a fan of unchewable noodles. The fried rice were just fine, key to a good fried rice is a good quality rice I believe. Highlight of this dinner was my congee and the bao buns you have to fill with the roasted duck skin, I would say even with my migraine and not wanting to eat that would be the entree I would surely come back for. read more

The entry way was flooded and my elderly mom was not guided to the other door but encouraged to walk through the flooded area which was a huge fall risk. General Tso's, very sweet, no spice at all, and tough and stringy like a really bad breaded chicken jerky. It became difficult to chew and was completely unappetizing. First time trying this place out due to the high rating reviews online. Well for me it's was just okay! I ordered online and it was ready when I arrived at the restaurant. I walked inside the restaurant which gives that old authentic charm that is really cool! I ordered the lunch special beef with onion and ginger over white rice, I chose an egg roll, then I decided to add on a cup of hot and sour soup and brown sugar milk tea with boba. The beef was pretty tender which I enjoyed, but I wish it came with more gravy because it looked very dry with the little amount of gravy they put in there; the egg roll was not so good tasted very soggy; the soup didn't have much flavor which hot and sour soup can get tricky because it requires a certain rich taste; and the milk tea did not have that brown sugar taste, for me it fell flat because I've tried the same flavor milk tea at other places and there's were much better! read more

Chinese tradition might say that dim sum is not thought of as a dinner for romance, but with an assortment of hot buns to sample, I disagree. BBQ Pork Buns, Pan Fried Pork Buns, Egg Yolk Paste Buns... So many hot buns and so little time. I loved every dumpling or bun that I tried. The pork dumplings with peanuts were his favorite, while mine were the Siu Mai (pork and shrimp). One of the things I love about dim sum is the way something new keeps arriving throughout the meal. I think every restaurant should take that approach as well. --It's like unwrapping presents on Christmas Day. Just after you finish sampling something, a new something arrives. The only thing I didn't care for was the brisket. Just way too fatty for my liking. Burned a lot of cals just trying to chew it. And while I loved the Fu-Kin Fried Rice --dried scallops, scallops, duck, and chicken, He thought it was fishy tasting. I heartily disagreed. But it came as no surprise when I went downstairs the next morning and saw that he left my leftovers out all night. Drat! Had to toss. He probably did that on purpose. ;) This restaurant always looks completely packed, but wait times are generally 20 min or so on weekday evenings. Up to an hour on weekend evenings. Just one word. Wow! MingHin Cuisine has long been known as a Chinatown staple for classy dim sum and they have recently opened another beautiful location in downtown as well. This location in Naperville continues to impress and I would be suprised if the owners weren't trying to push their case for a Michelin Star. Spacious parking, gorgeous decor, attractive exterior, speedy service, and a wide variety of menu options make this the perfect place to go for a large gathering of family & friends. Unlike many of the Chinatown options, you won't have to worry about being packed tightly in the dining rooms nor being so loud you can't have a conversation. In the suburbs, this is definitely the place to go for dim sum in terms of both quality and selection. There are a few items you can find elsewhere (like Bistro Chen or Royal Buffet) that are fairly good as well, but neither possesses anywhere near as many options as Minghin offers -- and not consistently at as good of a quality. Like Lao Sze Chuan in Skokie, the food at the Minghin location outside Chinatown is not only good for the suburbs -- it's among the best for Chinese in Chicagoland. Food temperature was great, items were generally not too sweet or salty and did not rely on sauce for flavor, and textures were excellent. Here are the items that stood out for me: Tea: Nothing ruins a great dim sum experience more than using poor quality tea. This is not an issue here as the tea is tasty, hot, and delicious. Fried squid: Light, crispy fluffy batter that covers softly prepared squid. Simple and delciious way to start a meal. Beef crepe: This is among the best in the area you'll find (Phoenix is the other great one that comes to mind). The chewy elastic rice crepe perfectly envelopes a soft filling of spiced and herbed beef prepared masterfully in a thin meat patty. No restaurant outside of Chinatown even comes close to the quality of this crepe. Baked creamy egg yolk bun -- Imagine a delicious egg yolk filling that is not quite creamy but not quite hard boiled surrounded by a slightly chewy dough and this is what you get. Based on the quality of this dish, I'll need to try the puffy egg custard tart one day. Chicken and dried scallop bun. Not sure why all the steamed options are called bun instead of bao, but this really delivered in terms of dough fluffiness and having a tasty meat filling. The dough is a bit sweeter than what you'd expect from a bao but this worked out perfectly with the meat. Try the BBQ Pork bun if you've tried bao elsewhere, the difference in quality is apparent from the first bite. Fresh fish paste congee: Definitely the creamiest congee I've had anywhere in the Chicago suburbs. Healthy and lightly flavored, this is a perfect item to have on a cold day or if you're looking for a more soupy-type option. Crispy Pork Belly Macau Style: Perfectly marianated pork from a nice juicy and fat cut with a delicious crispy skin. It's great to find such high quality Chinese BBQ outside of Chinatown (I believe the next closest respectable choice is in Richwell Market in Morton Grove, but it doesn't even come close to this). Pork Rice Noodle Roll with XO Sauce: Just like the rice crepe, the rice noodle roll has a fantatic bouncy texture to it and is perfectly presented with spicy XO sauce and peppers. Fu-Kin Style Fried Rice: One of the more saucy preparations of fried rice, but the egg flavor is infused perfectly into the rice and the sauce captures the flavors of meat and seafood very well. Overall, a fantastic experience. I only regret that I cannot write a much longer review without this being the size of a chapter in a reference book and that my stomach didn't have the capacity to try more dishes (you can easily get super-full with even trying half a piece each of a huge order of dim sum!). Definitely worth the trip if you live anywhere west of O'Hare airport, it'll completely alter your perceptions of fine Chinese cuisine. read more

Talking about the expectations. I have been waiting for Minghin to open their Napervile location for more than half year since the rumor started that MingHin was planning to have a dim sum place here. Today is not even their official openning day, more like a trial openning. If you liked the MingHin at Chinatown, you would like it here too. Bigger space with elegant decorations. Love the high ceiling in the lobby. We ordered from dim sum menu as well as the regular menu for 9 of us. Kids loved the shrimp rolls. Short ribs was fine. I liked the Duran buns but half of the table hated the smell just you know. They don't have the congee yet which hopefully coming soon. The special soup for today was pork bone soup with lotus roots which happened to be my favorite. We had roasted duck and Maucau style roasted pork belly as the appetizers. Pork belly tasted great with the nice crispy skin as the top layer. Roasted duck had very tender meat and just right flavor. Loved both. Among the entrees, Steamed bass was my favorite. As they used the Fresh fish, it was delicious and flaky meat and not overly seasoned to keep the right taste. Beef with Japanese sauce was great too. Tender meat and slightly on the sweet side. Kids liked it. Pea tips with chicken broth was fine. The green bean with shredded duck meat was OK which I probably won't order again. Yangzhou fried rice was well welcomed by kids.. We ordered puddings and golden yolk custard buns for dessert. Puddings were good. Yolk buns were excellent. Creamy and sweet. The services were one of the best services I got especially from a Chinese restaurant. Oh complementary tea was pretty decent too. One big issue I could say now is that the menu is no where near the china town one. No fresh shrimp yet which was my favorite. And no casseroles which should be great for the winter time. Their buns are EVERYTHING & dim sum!!! . I went here for the first time for lunch and ordered pork & veggie buns, short ribs, egg drop soup, and tea. All the food was delicious. It was so fresh and tasty. The tea was very good as well. The service was excellent and the restaurant looks nice has a great atmosphere. WEEDS knee high everywhere and in need of paint. Sloppy building. It has been said to observe how the outside building/grounds and bathroom are.
