    turnip cake + fried donut
    Donna T.

Mingkee Deli is a pretty good traditional Chinese breakfast restaurant. Service is okay, I noticed that most don't speak English but we are still able to get by to communicate our needs. The restaurant is pretty small but they are usually quick to get out your food. I usually get the brisket rice noodle roll, either the BBQ pork or shrimp and beef rice noodle roll, preserved egg and pork porridge with fried donut, and the turnip cake with XO sauce. The rice noodle rolls are very soft and thin, which I don't mind. The turnip cake with XO sauce I'd probably prefer without the XO sauce in my own preference, but I like how they always come out piping hot and crispy. The brisket rice noodle roll is my favorite kind to get out of the rice noodle rolls, but the second time I got it, it did taste a bit different where it seemed to lack some flavor compared to the first time, but was fixable with some added soy sauce and chili oil. Here, you do have to ask for those condiments, as they do not have it on the table. Overall, I'd keep coming back and with the added soy sauce and chili oil, they make it a whole lot better.

Comfort food when you are not feeling eating or sick. Very affordable in the area, and yummy. Highly recommend.

This Restaurant has good comfort cantonese food. There are QR codes on the table for ordering. They do have a menu if needed. The service was quick and friendly. Food was good for a quick lunch and arrived timely. The small restaurant is located in a outdoor mall with plenty of parking shared by all the businesses. Will be back to try more dishes.

Came here with family so we were able to try a spread of menu items. Most foods were standard, nothing wowed me. But if you're looking to try something a little different, try the milk pudding! Here's what we ordered: Pork/thousand year egg jook: they are generous on the egg, but the over flavor was a bit bland Sampan jook: a good variety of goodies in here. Somehow though, the flavors didn't blend too well. Bbq pork rice noodle: good amount of bbq pork and noodle. I wished the noodle was a little thicker, but I guess that's just the style of this restaurant. Yao tiao: crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside. Braise beef: beef was tender, flavor was good. There were veggies in it too. XO turnip cake: looked better online. The XO flavor was a little lacking. Not a fav. Milk pudding: served cold, silky and smooth. Not too sweet. Would order this again. Overall, meal was ok. You order through the QR code. So service was minimal standard.

Very homey place with delicious food. The food is definitely authentic from Guangdong China.

This review is for delivery order of rice roll. Got the beef & pork chang fen & were very good: silky & thin wrap, beef & pork were both tender & silky, the meat were thinly sliced chunks instead of ground meat. IMO The rice rolls are comparable to Yinji chang feng, Joe's rice roll in flushing, Hei Hei rice roll in Vancouver Richmond, and def better than any dimsum restaurants.

    Pork jook. No flavor.

I had a craving for jook. I was the only one there at 9:00 am. Had the pork and thousand year egg. And chicken feet. Service was quick. The bowls they use are metal and get really hot. I didn't realize and dropped it cuz it was sooo hot and dumped half of the bowl on me and the table. After cleaning up. They never helped. I ate most of the jook which had no flavor. It had an egg cut up and some pork. I had to ask for soy sauce to add to the porridge. The feet were just okay. I don't think whoever is cooking tastes the food. So disappointing. Not sure how they stay in business.

Today I originally planned to try the two most famous Malaysian dishes at Mingala Restaurant -- prawn noodles and char kway teow. Who would have thought they're closed every Monday! Feeling disappointed (and a little hungry), I ended up looking for a quick lunch inside the same Chinese shopping plaza, Lion Market Shopping Center. In the end, I chose a place called Mingkee Newark. At first, I just wanted something simple -- a plate of steamed rice rolls and a bowl of congee -- and then head home. But wow... once you start eating, you'll know the difference between ordinary and outstanding.I first ordered a lotus-leaf steamed rice with preserved-vegetable pork patty and a cup of iced stone-ground soy milk.I've never been a fan of preserved vegetables, and I usually never choose dishes made with them. But after trying this lotus-leaf preserved-vegetable pork patty rice, it completely changed my relationship with preserved vegetables. The moment I opened the lotus leaf, the fragrance of the leaf filled the air. The very first bite -- with the subtle lotus-leaf aroma and the freshly hand-chopped pork patty mixed with preserved vegetables -- was simply beyond words. Then I took a sip of the iced stone-ground soy milk and immediately knew it was totally different from the kind you buy at a supermarket. The rich soybean aroma reminded me of the fresh soy milk sold by street vendors when I was a child. After finishing that dish, I was already about 70% full. But then the server recommended one of their signature items -- chive and pork pan-fried dumplings. She told me they only make the dumplings after customers place an order, and then pan-fry them fresh, so they're especially good. Since there were only four dumplings per order, I decided to try them. When the dumplings arrived, I could already smell the aroma. With the very first bite, I knew right away -- the bottom was nicely pan-fried and slightly crispy, the wrapper was thin but not broken, and the filling was well-balanced and full of chive fragrance. They were truly delicious. At that point, I was almost 90% full. Then the server mentioned that they also have a very famous dessert called Shunde double-skin milk pudding. So... of course, I ordered one bowl. The Shunde double-skim milk pudding was not overly sweet, but very milky, smooth, and incredibly soft. After finishing the dessert, I practically had to hold my stomach on the way home.In the end, I even bought three bowls of cold Shunde double-skim milk pudding to go, to share with my daughter and Maria as tonight's after-dinner dessert.I highly recommend this place -- Mingkee Newark.

Came here for a quick lunch. Tried their shrimp and youtiao. The chang fen here is cooked all in one sheet and covers the whole dish. As a result, the actual portion of rice pancake is quite generous and it is more solid with more of a bite than other places (where it is more gooey). Their sauce is lighter and less sweet than usual. They don't serve it on the side or with any additional on the table. Super yummy and wish we had more sauce!

Glad to have another great spot for rice noodle rolls in the area! FOOD // Mingkee Deli's rice noodle rolls are thin and silky. Every bite was a delight. Variations we tried: + Shrimp & beef rice noodle roll + Beef brisket rice noodle roll + Chinese donut rice noodle roll + BBQ pork rice noodle roll with egg add on The two porridge that we tried were decent. The Sampan porridge (which we got with preserved egg added in) needed more salt/flavor. The preserved egg & pork porridge had enough saltiness from the pork. We also got the Spareribs Rice Clay Pot, which was decent but not particularly amazing. I did like how much green veggies they included though. Also, we really enjoyed their hot tea, which was richly flavored. SERVICE & AMBIANCE // Casual dining. The inside looked clean and well-maintained. The tables are sufficiently spaced out that it doesn't feel crowded. Service was efficient and helpful. We ordered via the QR code at our table. Overall - the rice noodles are a stand-out here, and I'd definitely come back for those.

I had high hopes for Mingkee Deli after hearing so many good things, but unfortunately, the food was a bit underwhelming. While the menu offers a variety of interesting options, the flavors didn't quite hit the mark for me.

The ambiance is good, carrying a sense of street food from Southern China. The waiters are fast as they use QR codes for digital ordering. The taste of food is average. The rice pot and black sesame are disappointed.

We don't have very good Cantonese HK style cafes that serve good A/B/C/D/etc. breakfasts and most places are overpriced. Good value for good foods here. Some chairs were taller than others, carpet needs to be replaced, its in desperate need of a deep cleaning, refresh and remodel. The food was just OK. Some stuff was overcooked and our fish dish and some of the crab was a little under cooked, while some dishes were swimming in oil. Between 8 adults and 2 kids, we had about 9-10 dishes with lots of leftovers (noodles) to take home. Since my mom picked one of the preset menu options, our bill was over $500 for mediocre Chinese food!!! Let's just say, I have no intention of ever coming back.
