Can sit at most ~25-30 ppl at a time. The owners are really nice and give good suggestions. The weekends tend to have the longest wait as we waited 10 min for a table. We usually order takeout from here. The pork rice is one of their specialties and delicious. As for today, we had the following: 1) Seaweed wonton soup: savory, delicious, and 15 wontons in there! 2) soup dumplings: lots of soup and you can tell it's homemade. Each serving comes with 8. No need to go to DTF. 3) I was craving rice cake today. Also homemade and fresh. The dish didn't taste oily and overly heavy either. 4) braised beef noodle soup: this I would consider ok as I have had more flavorful broths. But meat is tender. Kind of a hole in the wall spot but we randomly came across it so decided to stop by. Ordered the Xiao long bao, pot stickers, and the spicy pork wonton soup. Well, they are located in a small plaza with not much food traffic or busy business around, but at 2pm Saturday, they were still half full for lunch. I walked pass a table of two people and they spread a feast on the table. The food looked good, authentic! The service was also friendly. The lady explained what they had in the frozen take out section and gave me their take out menu. The food prices are quite reasonable with most items in the $13 range. The most expensive item was less than $16! Onto the frozen items, my friend recommended their large wonton which was homemade with ji cai, a Shanghai local vegetable and pork. A bag of $50 for $32 in cash. They were quite big and plump! After 30 minutes of driving in the trunk they were not melting or sticking together. I cooked some at night, just need to boil. Pork kidney noodle soup is something hard to find in the U.S. but unfortunately it's thick cut and not stir fried so it lacks flavors when blending into the soup and therefore is recommended to eat as side. Xiaolongbao is tasteful but the appearance is towards the rustic end without elegant wrinkles you would expect from higher end places like Dingtaifeng. A classic fixture of the Irvington area. I don't exactly know when this place opened, but it's been around forever. And for great reason! Even after inflation, Shanghai Noodle House remains one of the cheapest, tastiest ways for two people to get stupidly full in the Southeast Bay. It's in that cluster of shopping malls and stores around where the Cloverleaf used to be, so parking is easy and convenient. Given that the restaurant is called Noodle House, I have always ordered the noodles. I understand that they also serve Shanghai-style buns, but I haven't actually tried them in all my years of eating here because quite frankly, the noodles are massive. Absolutely massive. Enough to feed two people. It comes out very very quickly, because the noodles you get in every noodle dish is more or less the same. The base of the broth is also fairly similar - but the sauces/flavors you mix into the broth differ based on what you order. So in practice, you'll get a huge bowl of broth and noodles, far more than any one person can eat. In addition, you also get a huge amount of meat/vegetables/sauce to pour into the bowl - and there's so much, just that amount of meat/vegetables/sauce could be considered a full dish on its own. I am not sure if this is how you're actually supposed to eat it and I have no confidence in my parents ability to authentically eat Shanghainese food, but we've always just slid all of the sauces/meat/etc. into the bowl of noodles and then eat it like a noodle soup. I hope that's how you do it, or else I've been doing it wrong. Cash only - presumably one of many ways they keep this place super cheap! Authentic noodles from northern China. I've gotta tell ya, I'm so glad my family members all agreed to host a dinner party at Shanghai Noodles House 上海麺馆 for a real treat. There are 2 entrances. The one in the back seems more popular. I guess the rear parking lot is bigger than the one fronting Fremont Blvd. Tables and chairs were simple but it got crowded before sunset on Sunday afternoon. Just about everything we ordered were delicious. Especially the dumplings 小笼包 got more soup than anything I had ever eaten. Dry noodles were awesome too. One dish that I don't know what is on the menu but I'm Chinese is 菜饭 which is rice with miscellaneous vegetables and meat. I would absolutely recommend coming here to get their Dry Pork with Green Onion Noodle, Pan Fried Pork Bun, and their Shanghai Style Potstickers. The Dry Pork with Green Onion Noodle are super flavorful, especially with the green onion oil! It is definitely an oily noodle dish, but that's what makes it so good. The noodle portioning is also huge! The Pan Fried Pork Buns are so unexpectedly juicy inside. You would think otherwise because of the crispy outer dough, and the flavor is amazing. I would highly reccommend these. The Shanghai Style Potstickers are also delicious with a perfectly crisp bottom and succulent meaty filling. Some of their noodle soup dishes are a little lacking in flavor, but if you have a noodle craving you're trying to fulfill this is the spot because they definitely give you a lot of noodles.
