Past 9am on a Tuesday. Perhaps they should update their posted opening hours??,
    CM P.

Advertised times for opening says 9am. I was there from 9am to 9:50am. The place was still closed. I'm not sure if they have changed their opening times, but it would be nice to know so people don't waste their time going there. Hours posted on the door say 9am...posted times on Yelp also say 9am. I've had food there before and it was okay...so take it for what it's worth if you plan to go there...

Came by in the afternoon this past Sunday, and there was a small line at the entrance (inside Lion food center). The wait to order was about 15 minutes with just 4-5 people ahead of me. And I liked observing how they chop up the meats right in front of you. I ordered the roasted duck rice plate for takeout, and it was juicy and delish, a good amount of meat on the bones, and just enough fat to add flavor. But the ratio of rice to meat was way off. They are really generous with the rice, as well as the cabbage. I had a satisfying meal. However, I would never dine in here, even though they have tables and seating inside. The place is just really run down and not very inviting. The cleanliness is questionable. The plastic utensils were cheap and flimsy too. Also, service wasn't the friendliest, though they get the job done to keep the line moving.

    BBQ Pork (Cha Siu)
    Jia M.

The cha siu was dry and the pieces were huge! I wish they would cut them into smaller pieces. The pork belly wasn't crispy anymore by the time I ate them for dinner, but I think it's still better than the cha siu. There was also a long line at around 1PM on a Saturday. It took us around 20 minutes to order. Keep in mind that they will charge you a service fee if you use credit card to pay.

Came here and was really craving Chinese food. I got the char siu and the roast chicken plate over rice with two pork buns. The food was ready immediately and it was about $20 for all three items. The food was tasty but the portions were a bit small as we got a lot of rice but not that much meat. The roast chicken had a couple of bones in it and had a bit of a rubbery texture but the char siu tasted pretty flavorful. The pork buns were good and curbed my cravings but didn't have enough char siu filling in it. The seating area here wasn't very clean and the tables looked like they weren't cleaned in a while. I think most people take the food to go though so that would make sense. Overall, the food was about a 3.5/5 and the atmosphere of the restaurant was about 2/5.

This is one of those places to get your lunch. However, you're better off doing a take out rather than dining in because of how bland the atmosphere is. Still boxes at the front. I remember dining here when I was a lot younger. Wasn't really looking bad there at that time. The food was slimy and oily. I consider it below average tbh. It's cheap at the bright side. I highly recommend going to other restaurants if you want to get better quality of duck and chicken.

Wow I bit into their show my is so delicious you got to try it

I highly recommend this establishment you could eat there or you could have it to go just like me I had it to go my gosh they're barbecue gross pork was so delicious I can't stop eating it and their pork buns the sesame seed roll and their show my I highly recommend it to everybody to order their food cuz there's is so delicious yes it's a small establishment but it's worth going into their establishment because their food is so delicious I want I've been wanting to taste the dim sum and I finally did this morning and it's absolutely rated 10 not 5 but 10 because of the way they put their tender loving care into their food the way they make it I highly recommend everybody to go and have their dim sum and their food whether it's to go or you could eat there go and try it cuz I I still have some more that I'm going to keep on and on and on eating and not only that I'm coming back for more

    Hopefully they will return soon

    Roast duck

Located inside Lion Supermarket in Newark. Came on a Sunday around 1pm and there was a long line. It took me 15 minutes to order and I ordered the roast duck and the bbq pork steamed buns (siopao). The roast duck smelled so good , I bought the roast duck for my family and they said it was very delicious. The pork bun was big and tasty. The pork bun is actually cheaper than when I buy from Filipino bakeries and the bread bun is softer. Paid around $34 for the whole roast duck and 3 pork buns and I paid with a credit card. It is a hole in the wall so don't expect fancy tables. Also, it is better to pay cash because they charge 3% processing fee for credit cards.

Shui mai was hard and the meat was not fresh. No wonder they had buy 3 get 1 free. Credit card add 3% fee.

I agree with a review before me that said "haters gonna hate," but this spot is undefeatable. You think the aunties yelling "next" and the uncle chopping the duck care about what we say on Yelp? Lol. With that said, this spot is a no frills Chinese bbq and dim sum spot. You go in, get what you want, and leave. They've been in this plaza for as long as I can remember. They take card payments but charge extra 3%.

Sampan porridge ($13) is so creamy with a lot of ingredients, definitely add the green onions and crushed peanuts as well as white pepper and salt for more flavor. Turnip cake with XO sauce ($8) is also delicious here, it's so crunchy on the outside and tender in the inside. Love it!! Those two are must haves. We also tried chicken feet and special spare rib rice which were just ok, wouldn't order those again. Chicken feet were a bit lean and spare rib rice unfortunately didn't taste 'special' to me, even if it took 30 mins to make haha. Wasn't bad though and it's very affordable here. Great first impression after so many years. Authentic Hong Kong foods. If you're coming from the South Bay Area, this place doesn't disappoint. We don't have very good Cantonese HK style cafes that serve good A/B/C/D/etc. breakfasts and most places are overpriced. Good value for good foods here. I paid $16 with taxes included for B-breakfast, so I left them $4 tips. $16 for everything was considered cheap! I had french fries/hash brown/two eggs/chicken steak/broccoli/carrot/etc. and comes with hot beverage of choice. Very fulfilling. Delicious foods with authentic drinks. Everything was generous in portions and delicious, so I ate the entire plate of foods along with my hot cup HK milk tea. No leftovers. Yummy! I'm really loving their big breakfasts now. Updating my original review to increase to a solid 4 star review…read more Last night, May 30, 2026, Dad and Thelma treated me to dinner at Pearl Bay Restaurant to finally celebrate my birthday. We arrived around 7 PM without reservations. The restaurant was PACKED with several parties one of which was a wedding. Still, we were able to be seated at a table after about a twenty-minute wait. Below are what we ordered: Macau Style Roast Pork Belly ($22.99) - Good, but on the salty side. Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (6 pcs, $16.99) - Yay for Pearl Bay offering these dim sum dumplings for dinner. These are HUGE har gow because there are two shrimp inside. Double yay!! Sweet Corn & Minced Chicken Soup ($18.99) - Velvety smooth and the perfect balance of savoury and sweet from the corn. Sweet & Sour Chicken - I didn't see this in the menu, but I requested for a plate of crispy chicken with a sweet glaze. Our waitress suggested this and said that she ask the kitchen to fry the chicken to a crisp. Although I would have preferred a little more crisp, I was happy with the flavour. Special Deep Fried Tofu ($13.99) - These looked a lot crisper than they were, but I still enjoyed the little cubes of fried tofu. Crispy Spring Rolls (6 pcs, $14.99) - These fried egg rolls were crispy, indeed. The side of sweet and sour dipping sauce were a good complement. Wok Fried Minced Chicken, Diced Fish & Pine Nuts with Lettuce Cup wraps ($23.99) - I heard our waitress ask if we wanted it with chicken, and I didn't taste any fish in the yummy mix. Very nice. Pan Fried Beef & Vegetable Egg Noodle - This was another special order that I requested. Very good. Dad really liked it, too. Deep Fried Sesame Ball - Yummy, but, again, I was looking for more crisp. Service was stellar again. Now that Ho Chow has permanently shuttered, Pearl Bay Restaurant is looking to become my new favourite Chinese restaurant in Fremont.

For something heartier, the Wonton Noodle Soup features a very clean, savory broth and snap-to-the-bite noodles.
