I've used Minimoves for 2 moves. 3 of the legs went great. I would have given them 4 or 5 stars if all 4 legs were that great. Plus, they've always given me the most reasonable quotes and stuck to them. Pick up in Chicago: 4 stars for this move because they did forget to confirm my actual move date. They rescheduled for the next day. It was frustrating as I had to take 2 days off work. The movers were great. Drop off in San Diego: 5 stars. The movers were fantastic. Everything arrived in good shape. Pick up in San Diego: 5 stars. I was moving to Boston but didn't have an apartment yet. Customer service was very helpful and everything went smoothly. Boston didn't work out for me. My stuff stayed in storage for just over 7 months as I looked for an apartment and then found a better job in Chicago. Drop off in Chicago in 2017: This gets 1 star. I did switch my delivery address from Boston to Chicago, but the delay in responses was frustrating. I was also switched from Anthony, who had been my customer service representative and was not happy with my new customer service rep. They sent me a delivery range of 2/15-2/24. I was going to a conference on 2/20, so I immediately responded those dates wouldn't work for me. Then they said the warehouse in MA wanted my things out. They wouldn't change the spread. I got an e-mail that said, "I think there is a good chance it will be here for delivery by 19th. You could change spread but this is set for pickup on Monday 2/6. I would not guarantee it but we can check on it middle of next week." On 2/13: I got an e-mail from Kathy that said this: "Hi, ETA is tomorrow, unfortunately will not be delivered tomorrow. Dispatch will call you tomorrow to talk to you about scheduling. Thanks." I requested clarification and she said dispatch would contact me. On 2/13, I got an e-mail from that said, "Hi, ETA is tomorrow, unfortunately will not be delivered tomorrow. Dispatch will call you tomorrow to talk to you about scheduling. Thanks." I requested clarification and she said dispatch would contact me. On 22/14, at 9:30am I got a call saying my delivery was going to be that day. With no notice. Knowing my spread started 2/15, I had rearranged my entire work schedule, pushing all of my meetings and time-sensitive work to be done on 2/14 so I could be more flexible 2/15-2/20. They reminded me several times that I was the one who was going out of town, so they were doing me a favor. I asked what time the delivery would arrive, and they didn't know. The next time I talked to her, she said, "in about an hour." I live 30 min from work. I then spent 30 min rearranging my entire day and trying to convince my new boss I'm not irresponsible. Then they say they'd probably be there between 12pm and 1pm. The 2 guys who did the move were great. They were quick and efficient. They were helpful and thoughtful. Then, as they were unwrapping my wood furniture, one guy said, "This leg on your dresser was broken when you shipped it, right?" Um... NO. Of the 4 pieces of wood furniture I shipped, all four were damaged. The dresser had a leg ripped off. The back wood piece of my writing desk was completely split so it is no longer steady and the top is uneven. My chair and nightstand have gouges. Dishes in my fragile boxes were chipped. They also told me I had added 5 boxes and would be charged more. I could count when they arrived. I did. There were no additional boxes. I was told I wasn't charged more though. I am still confused about whether I was charged more or not. Lastly, I was charged again for my storage and was told it was a fee for moving my things out of storage. This company prides themselves on "no hidden costs," but I cannot find a record of agreeing to this charge. That's the only hidden cost I had in all of my interactions though. Follow up: 4 stars: The Executive Vice President gave me a call personally after all of this to apologize and learn more about my experience. I do believe they pride themselves on customer service. I hope they're to more consistently deliver the service I received with the other 3 legs. I also received a settlement for my damaged furniture. It wasn't enough to replace the furniture, but it does ease the frustration I felt. I do appreciate the follow up. read more

We recently used MiniMoves to move my 86 year old grandma from Chicago to Arizona. I couldn't be there for everything so I had to find a company that didn't mind going the extra mile and boy did I luck out with MiniMoves. We got a quote from Minimoves to move some furniture and boxes from the Chicago area to Michigan. Quote was good ($1500) and everything sounded great. They were very friendly on the phone and seemed knowledgeable. Then, around 2 weeks before the move, we called to book the move. All of a sudden, it was difficult to talk with anyone. When I finally found out what was going on, they explained that our house in Michigan was further away (4.5 hours) that they had thought (even though we gave them the zip code in the beginning), and the quote was increased to $3500!! Stupid me for not reading reviews. My stuff hasn't even arrived and I'm furious with experience so far. All I know is that I've had to hound these people every step of the way to get an update on the status of my mother's things. They are also super slow as it took close to a week to leave the warehouse from when it was picked up. Stupid. BEWARE..they are crooks! I had $800 of merchandise stolen from me, when I had arranged a move from LA back to NY. In order to cut the cost of the move, I had decided to pack my own boxes, everything was packed precisely. A week later when my boxes arrived, the box that had the most expensive electronics in it was not there. It was stolen in their warehouse. I called many times and worked with Aja, their customer service manager. I opened a case and sent them a long list of items that were in the box. I spent a lot of time putting a letter together for the case and waited months. After 3 months , my answer was: since I had packed my own boxes, I would not get reimbursed. Not even a penny! I lost very expensive sunglasses, a GPS and many other important items that I will NEVER get back. What bothered me was they never tried to work with me on a compromise, they took my money and all I got was extra bills when I had to re-buy the merchandise that was stolen from me. All in all, my moving experience with MiniMoves was very disappointing. I will always spread the word of my terrible experience with them. They don't care about their customers and it appears that they hire very dishonorable people. Please think twice before moving with this company. I had such a great experience using MiniMoves from my move from Chicago to the very west side of Iowa. I used MiniMoves to transport my kitchen items, bedroom and living room furniture from my large studio apartment. From the initial phone calls to the day of my move everyone was friendly, the movers were on time, and my moving quote remained the same as estimated. My things arrived safely in about a week and a half-just as predicted. All of my items were in the condition in which I packed them. I hired MiniMoves to move me from Miami, FL to Portland, Oregon. Despite having done thorough verification of their license, and BBB record, which said MiniMover to be a 5 star company, it performed at a one (1) star level despite having paid $646.00 for "premium" packing. I was supposed to be packed on June 28, 2016. The movers arrived on the 28th, with NO PACKING MATERIALS. Upon calling MiniMoves, they tried to convince me that it would be okay to have the "packers" dump all of my household belongings into one huge create, and once they got the crate to the warehouse, they would individual pack my items into boxes, and then place all boxes in a sealed container. Instead I got packed on the June 29, and I discovered that they did a horrible packing job. Upon unpacking I discover that they apparently ran out of packing material and use my bath towels, kitchen towels, and plastic wrap to finish the job. My packed goods were NEVER placed in a sealed container. Instead, during transport they impaled my entire load with the forks from a forklift truck. They broke in half my 60" one year old flat screen TV. They crushed and ripped open all our wardrobe boxes. 40 of the 68 boxes that were packed, arrived crushed or badly damaged. 5 of the 68 boxes are missing. When they impaled my household load with the forklift it ripped open a few boxes. They picked those items up and threw them into the damage wardrobe boxes, thus soiling all of our clothes. The damage was witnessed by the subcontracted movers who delivered our belongings. They informed that the load was never place in a sealed container, as contracted for, and that it arrived damaged. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. IT WILL BE A NIGHTMARE!!!! read more

We had one piece of furniture needing transported from New Jersey to Arizona. It was a highly carved antique oriental robe stand that my N.J. friend purchased while living in China during the 1990s. She was down-sizing so I agreed to give it a good home in Arizona. The move went beautifully. They picked it up on day 4 after the official "open window" date and delivered it 4 days later (which included a 2-day weekend). The piece was packaged as agreed to, carefully loaded (according to the people in N.J.) and unloaded, all packaging carefully removed and the piece placed as we directed. Paul H. in the Chicago area, Christina on loading and Nancy on delivery (both with Regal Designer Delivery out of Texas) were fantastic......always available to answer questions, give insights, keep us informed and honest/up front about all phases of the process. Tom and Ricky (drivers/delivery) were very kind, careful with our piece and excellent communicators. At all times we felt we were in good hands. In this day and age, it is a pleasure to find a company who is customer centered in deed and not just in words. Everyone we dealt with was professional, knowledgeable and focused on service. I couldn't have found anyone better. It was a sincere pleasure doing business with all of these individuals. My heartfelt thank you! You've earned gold stars for your outstanding service. I've done three interstate moves and one international, yet had forgotten about the minor details and stress that comes with moving this round. During my recent plan to move, things slipped my mind and MiniMoves saved me from a moving scam and made themselves available to help me at the very last minute. I had almost put down a deposit with another company when I decided to give MiniMoves a call based on a relative's great experience with them. I worked with Paul H., who gave me a head's up on some red flags with this company, including putting down a third of the cost as a deposit. When I went back to the first company and asked for references, they went radio silent. Paul provided a fair moving estimate and made himself readily available for my questions or inventory updates to provide a fresh quote. Ultimately, based on the size of my small studio apartment move and not having anything of major value, I decided to go with a moving container. That worked best for me based on a number of factors and I had flexibility to experiment with this type of move (which I wanted to try once!). While it saved me some cash, the next time I need to move, I know I'll save ample time and worry by going directly to MiniMoves for a fair quote, excellent communication, and over-the-top customer service. The kind of customer service Paul provided throughout is exactly what you want to be working with during the stress of a move. I can't say enough good things about him or thank him enough for pulling in movers last minute even though I went with a different option. It's rare to find great customer service like that anymore. I hired Minimoves for a move from Berkeley, CA to Queen's NY. At the beginning the costumer representative (Whitney) was prompt, correct and helpful. She is the only one of the business (besides the delivery guys in NY) who did her job correctly. The problems started after I confirmed the move. They included the following: - Pick Up Damage: There was no communication between MInimoves and the third party they hired in California. As a result they were not prepared to take all my items and this eventually resulted in major damage that was not fully acknowledged (picture frames and bed rails broken, lamp and part of the kitchen table missing, etc). - Estimation Price: The company requested to be generous in my estimation to be sure there will be space in the truck. But when my move was significantly smaller they insisted to keep the high price and eventually ended paying even more than the original price quoted with less belongings. - Charges: I was told that there was going to be no payments until delivery. But as soon as they picked up my things they started charging my credit card (I actually also needed to call my credit card company a few times because the repeated charges raise an alert fraud). At the end the charges went beyond the budget and after loosing way too much time with them, they accepted to reimburse me for half of a very moderate request for damages. - Delivery crew: The delivery guys in NY were great. They saw the damage and wrote in a piece of paper the description of the problem. They even told me to contact the manager of claims directly and gave me his personal number. - Damages: I called the manager of claims and he was very rude not understanding how I got his phone number. I submitted my claim and everything went to a black hole. The assistant (Aja) did her best to answer my e-mails, but for over a month she had no information to give. It was only after my insistence that they decided to reimburse me only half of a very reasonable list of damage costs. This doesn't start covering the damage, the time I wasted with them, and the effort to replace all my items. They argued that despite the fact that the crew acknowledged the damages and the pictures I took were very clear, I was not presenting receipts (and no, I didn't kept the receipts I use to buy a dinning table or the bed rails 5-6 years ago). At the end they sent me a very minimal check and called it a final settlement. I will never use them again. The costumer service people (Whitney and Aja) may have good intentions. But this company will destroy your goods, not acknowledge the problem, loose your time, overcharge you, treat you as if you are owing them an explanation and finally unilaterally decide about a minimal price to pay for the major damages they caused. read more

First, Whitney please don't respond you "don't see a move under my name" like I see you do often to these responses. I have talked to you and many others in your company many times. I contracted with Mini Moves to move furniture from California to Arizona. The delivery window was 2/12 - 2/26. On about 2/10 I received a phone call saying one piece of furniture was over sized and was going to be $300 more. I gave them the dimensions of all my furniture when I contracted with them. I told them I wasn't going to pay any more. I based using them on the quote they gave me. On 2/24 I called to check on my delivery and the furniture had not left California yet! Mini Moves was clueless that the furniture was still sitting in California! I think it would still be sitting in California if I hadn't called! After many, many phone calls most of the furniture finally arrive on 3/7. The larger sofa arrived several days later. During the move Mini Moves was never able to tell me the location of my furniture or the day of delivery. I can't tell you how many times I heard them say they were waiting for operations to get back to them. I finally asked for the "operations" number myself and talked to the location in Arizona to find out my furniture arrived "30 minutes ago." But was not able to be delivered because now "all the trucks are in California." I've talked to Mini Moves employees from customer service to the VP. I was assured I would receive an adjustment to my charges. It is no surprise to me that now they won't return my phone calls. I spent time on my vacation trying to track down furniture. I had house guests sleeping on the floor because beds did not arrive. I don't know if I have ever had a more frustrating experience with a company. read more

These guys were absolutely terrible. I was moving long distance from Massachusetts to Florida in 08/2011 (they contract around the country, not just in IL), and it was one of the worst and most regrettable experiences that I had. Pricing: Their pricing system is very sketchy and unreliable, based on solely and estimate of how much something weighs, so if you have something like a rug, that is much lighter than their estimate, they still charge you for whatever they thing a rug weighs. Their insurance policy is terrible. They give you the option of either purchasing insurance (about $150 option in my case), but it's limited liability, and has a $500 deductible, which essentially makes it useless if something gets damaged that is less valuable than that. If you decide to not go with insurance (which I did since I was put off by the terms of the insurance that I just described), the only coverage that you receive is $.60 per pound. So if they damage anything, you receive almost nothing in return for your belongings. Not to mention, they actually double charged me for my contracted price, which took another day to have them reverse the charge. Move Experience: On the day of the move, they moving company that they contracted with showed up 3 hours late. Luckily I was able to work from home that day, but if I actually had places to be and couldn't work from home, it would've ruined my day. When they movers arrived, they were nice enough, but were unorganized as well as not having really any knowledge of the terms and conditions that MiniMoves states in their contract. They also only pack your stuff into a corrugated cardboard container at the location of your move; they were not (most likely true for any long moves) the company that receives and transports your belongings at your moving destination. This is an issue, because they have no incentive to take care of your things, since they are not liable for anything in this transaction. When my belongings arrived in Florida 3 weeks later, everything was damaged. They broke off two of the legs of my dresser that I was shipping, all the boxes were destroyed, so if I had more valuable stuff that the few items that I had, they would most likely be broken. To top it all off, they "lost" my TV, by somehow shipping it to Miami (I was moving to Central Florida), and it took them two days to recover it and deliver it back to my house. It was a miracle that my TV wasn't broken as well, as the expensive shipping box that I bought at Uhaul to ship it in was completely destroyed as well. Moral of the story is, stay far, far away from MiniMoves. They are a disorganized, sketchy, and generally difficult company to deal with. They were very unapologetic at the state of my belongings; as they claimed innocence since they only contract, not actually ship the items. Find another company, or you will risk having an experience that I did. read more

I used Mini Moves twice (long story), and both times it was a disaster in different ways. The first time, among other things, they left stuff behind on the truck. The second time they showed up seven hours late and took almost an hour to get from my old to my new apartment even though they were about one mile apart. Not much in the way of apology, just kind of "these things happen." They never happened with New City, which will be my go-to from now on come hell or high water. Their moving men, nice as they were, were some of the slowest movers I've ever had. There was one small youngish guy, one small middle-aged guy, and one elderly man who stayed on the truck. They stacked things in the storage locker all helter-skelter, with heavy things on top of small things. Some dishes got smashed to pieces. Worst of all was the indifferent and arrogant attitude of the management. A piece of furniture sustained minor damage, but instead of sending a repairman out like some other movers offer to do when it's a small fix, all they did was refer me to the standard insurance claim form. I had to fix it myself. Really? After showing up for a scheduled 9 a.m. move at 4:15 p.m. and finishing after 10 p.m., that's the best they can do? They just don't care. I think this company under-quotes to get your business. They never take a proper inventory of your stuff, so the final cost ends up being higher than the estimate they give you. Take their name literally and don't use them unless you actually have only a few things. They can't seem to handle a normal apartment move. If I had picked a random couple of guys off Craigslist I couldn't have done worse. read more

Pickup- movers were OK- not very professional but I wasn't expecting too much, this is a discount service after all! Two guys- one told me he was hungover (lol) and the other did all of the work. Delivery- I was kept in the dark for several weeks on when the delivery date would be. 3 weeks go by and at 7pm a rep called asking if I was available for an 8am delivery the next day. Luckily, I was! They were late, but it was early so I can forgive that. BUT I think that I may have gotten bed bugs from this move! My boxes that had clothing items came back and they were damaged/ripped. I got freaked out and washed everything but nonetheless, noticed small bugs in my home that weren't there before the delivery of my boxes. Yikes! I was going to write a whole long narrative review. But that is boring; so here is the bottom line. Getting everything set with the company was a breeze; online quote, paperwork, you're set (talked to Sherice and Todd). And even though I had made a mistake, Todd fixed it for me and still fit me in. Moving day, they called, said be there in 30 minutes. 28 minutes later, they were there. They took exactly as long as their estimate said, which was based on me telling them what I had. They wrapped everything in pads or plastic, were very professional and friendly, and did an excellent job. No damage, everything in place. The guys were funny too. (At one point, my wife said, "Oh my god, you're carrying the whole thing yourself?" The gentleman responded, "Mama said there'd be days like this.") I have always moved myself, but after this great experience and the good price, they're my people. I was literally writing this review right after they walked out the door because I was so impressed. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY. If I could give MiniMoves.com no stars, I would do so. I should have checked the Chicago Better Busines Bureau before hiring them. They received 3 complaints about delivery in the last week of July 2013. I hired them in Chicago to move my furniture and stuff because I was moving to New York for a new job. I chose the company, based on word of mouth. A HUGE MISTAKE! For starter, their account rep scheduled their movers to come to my Chicago apartment for pickup between 1pm and 3pm on August 21st. The lead of the movers even called me a day before to confirm, but he and his crew showed up an hour earlier on that day. The move from my Chicago apartment to their warehouse/storage was smooth. They did not promise any solid dates to deliver my stuff in New York. The household inventory list given to me only stated that would deliver between August 27th and September 5th. On August 26th, their account rep told me over the phone that they would not do delivery on the weekends no matter what. REMEMBER. THIS IS MY FIRST WEEK ON MY NEW JOB! I live by myself. I supposed MiniMoves expected me to be at home from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday?!? Two days later, my boss on my new job gave me a work-from-home day for that Thursday or Friday, August 29th or 30th. I immediately requested MiniMoves to try to get them deliver on one of the 2 days. The account rep informed me that they did not have any trucks available for those days! From that point on, the customer service became pretty bad. I was like speaking to a brick wall. A day prior to my delivery day, the customer rep didn't even bother to speak to me when calling me to provide an update. She just went straight to my voicemail. Her voicemail said that the movers would deliver my stuff between 1pm and 5pm on September 5th. I ended up being stuck at home and couldn't run necessary errands. Pickup date was rescheduled 3 times and 3 days from the original date. When items were delivered more than half my stuff is missing. There was some confusion on how many crates were at the receiving location and how many that should be delivered. Also found out after the fact all my boxes should have been numbered and itemized, Now I am having to go back and try to remember how many boxes were picked up and what was in each box. Minimoves is trying to find my missing items however 5 days later they still have no idea. Because of this I have also had to go out and purchase new items to hold me over until either my stuff is found or a claim can be done which I am hoping does not come to that. I'm not going to say it was terrible. I've actually had worse. And let's face it, moving is always some kafkaesque experience even in the best of circumstances. For a fee you can hand your beloved items over to strangers, these items vanish for weeks on end and return to you, sometimes in more pieces than when you handed them over. Rather than unscrew the legs of my headboard, they were snapped off in transit. "Did they tell you about this?" the moving guy said when he carried it in? "No, they didn't," I said. Why would there be any accountability about something like this? I filed a claim on it, and received some compensation. Oh, it wont pay for a new headboard. No sir. It's not even a fraction of current value. But it covered the cost of the premium for the upgraded insurance and in these modern times, you can't ask for much more than to break even. Another side adventure was that my couch did not fit on the original shipment. It left my house on a truck without any issue, but then it wouldn't fit on the next shipment. It's 'oversized' for this company--but no one asked about that when it was loaded. Naturally, I was to be charged extra for this oversight on my part. They pleaded with me to sign the papers so they could return my couch to me, its rightful owner. Happily, reason prevailed and the couch was to be shipped as part of the original moving quote but after signing for its departure I was told there was no one to take it and it would be sitting around for a while. It arrived three months later, probably by way of the Panama Canal; a three month cross continent odyssey worthy of Steinbeck himself. I really wanted to talk to customer service about the whereabouts of my items, the vague and shifting time frames of arrival, etc... but they seemed much less chatty once I had signed everything and I could hardly ever get a response unless by the 3rd or 4th email or call. In the end, the fault is mine. I have moved many times with other national movers. I would say in every case but two I have been satisfied and treated fairly. I don't know why I overthought it this time. I don't know why I am writing this either. I guess I felt like the story of my couch and headboard needed to be told. The highway is jammed with broken heroes on a last-chance power drive. When I get into my time machine and go back six months, I'll pay a little bit extra, and have everything arrive on-time and in-tact. read more

This company is the worst and 0 stars would be given them a better rating then they deserve. I hire this company to move me from Bryant, Arkansas to Costa Mesa, CA. When I agreed to pay I told them I needed a pick up date of 11/05/11 because I moved into my apartment on 11/11/11. They did not pick up my stuff until 11/18/11 and did not deliver my items until 12/08/11. Then when they brought my furniture and boxes, my bed was missing the slates that holds the box spring to the bed and my TV stand was destroyed in the moved. I was told that I could go and buy replacement items and submit the receipts for reimbursement. I filled out the company's claim form, attach pictures of the damage stand and missing slates, and the receipts. After 2 months I received their claim check. I paid $13.88 for slates from Home Depo and $290.90 for a new on salt TV stand, but MiniMoves claim check was for $43. 88. In the letter with the check MiniMoves say they only will cover 0.60 cents per pound of the items. That does not even cover half the cost of the items that their delivery people called into the company saying they damage and could not find the items. After I pay it would take me calling three times for someone to answer their phone and 2 out of 10 messages left for Anthony, the dispatcher, the driver, or Aja would actually be returned. This is my second move cross country, but my first time using this company. I feel cheated, and that they did not honor the contract considering I had to be in my apartment without my stuff for almost month. Also the fact that I am out of pocket an additional $260.90 for the items that were lost and damage when Mini Moves were responsible for them. read more

After quite a bit of comparison shopping I chose MiniMoves for my daughter's move. I felt they were the company that was straightforward -- no gimmicks, such as free tape, etc. Also, all movers have loads of complaints so I looked to find a company with fewer complaints. Despite the movers stuck in traffic which delayed our start time and ended up causing us to rush to finish before our time expired at the dock of her new place, things were efficiently loaded, nothing damaged, lost or broken and the team of three employees (beware of companies that hire day labor or temps) were polite and hardworking. Please do yourself a favor and READ ALL THE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ABOUT THIS COMPANY RIGHT HERE because they are BAD NEWS. About me: a. A WORKING PROFESSIONAL with limited savings. B. Have a 4 Year College Degree from a major university. c. Very honest. d. Will GO OUT OF MY WAY to help others from getting ripped off. e. I have MOVED 12 TIMES IN the past 10 YEARS and NEVER EVER HAD such a terrible experience. First, they are seemingly FRAUDULENT, not to mention RUDE RUDE RUDE. They did the classic "bait and switch" AFTER hijacking my personal belongings and claiming they "underestimated" the moving costs by nearly 250% --- yes you read that correctly. 250% MORE REQUIRED OR "YOUR THINGS GO UP FOR AUCTION". Questions? They tell you to refer to you lengthy paperwork agreement. Second, the ODD QUOTE system is based upon "an inventory via phone" inventory of rooms and approximate sizes of various items -- this was UNUSUAL and A RED FLAG. BUT THE QUOTE WAS LOWER THAN 2 OTHERS SO .... I was misled. Then they drafted a quote -- and if you read the super small 4 pt font print -- all 8 or 9 pages --- it basically says the QUOTE is NOT BINDING. Third, they sent an affiliate to pick-up my things who were SEVERELY understaffed - 2 guys for a 2 level move took like 9 hours -- AND MINI MOVES PROCEEDED TO SHOCK ME with a MEGA INCREASE AFTER THEY HAD MY STUFF. The other problem is that they simply sub-contracted to other movers (long distance) so BEWARE. There was a SEVERE lack of communication when the third party movers arrived. They REFUSED to work on Saturday - all of which was PROMISED to me by Mini Moves. The movers had no idea what they were moving. They didn't even bring any boxes even though I requested about 10 additional boxes about 4 TIMES previously. Fourth - even though PROMISED BY MINI MOVES IN MY CONTRACT -- the movers FAILED TO HAVE A PERMIT to park outside my busy residential street -- so it was OFF TO CITY HALL while the MOVING TRUCK AWAITED at my apartment... and let's just say CITY HALL WAS IN NO HURRAY. Like 90 minutes + to get the pass. FACT: My bill was initially quoted at $2450 but was increased to OVER $9000! Not kidding. Oh, you ask - how much stuff? Well, to be exact - 1 APARTMENT 1 BED 1 BATH, and 850 sq ft. How far? 900 miles --- FROM ONE MAJOR US CITY TO ANOTHER. How long to deliver?--- well - they lied about that too. It took 25 DAYS!!! Not 10 or less as promised. So I was forced to LIVE IN A HOTEL until my things arrived. Upon complaining and asking to speak to the owner, look out. The owner, Jack A, was a threatening individual who felt like he should be AVOIDED (sociopathic ways). He turned very nasty after I literally begged him to be fair with what they contractually agreed to with the quote. His basic threat was "we'll sell all of your things if you don't pay us within 3 days." Crazy! Last time I checked - that's bait and switch. BUT - the moving industry is about as corrupt as you can get. And these guys rate up there as scum of scum. As if that's not enough -- Mini Moves Chicago also trolled my user negative feedback and immediately reply acting all sincere. Ethical companies do not fiercely defend themselves with every comment. They are LOSERS in every fashion. You have been warned. read more

I used minimoves for an apartment move from NYC to SF. I cannot comment on their handling of furniture, but all my boxes and their contents arrived in perfect condition. I talked to a dozen moving companies and MiniMoves had BY FAR the nicest, least pushy, and least sketchy employees. Because they specialize in small moves, they were able to accomodate my move the NEXT DAY and for about $1K cheaper than everyone else. Make sure to read your contract carefully. They made a mistake leaving out the flight of stairs at the delivery address, which could have caused a hiccup upon delivery (and possibly higher charges). The delivery company (which was contracted by MiniMoves) came on time and worked quickly. When the dropoff was made, the contracted delivery company had been misinformed that I had purchased curbside delivery only (vs. in home) and MiniMoves very quickly reached out to them and resolved the issue. I paid exactly what was quoted to me and my delivery arrived in 5 business days!! I would use this company again in a heartbeat. read more

They gave me choice of price Options. Option 1 was included insurance and option 2 was not included Insurance. From begining I told them I would like to choose option 2 and I do not need insurance. The customer person told me Ok. But the end after they delivered my stuffs. They told me they will charge me for option 1 which us included insurance which a coupld hundreds dollar more. I told them I did not choose option 1. But they made excuses Oh, because of law. Plus they came to deliver my stuffs in the morning and forgot my stuffs to bring. Plus the dirver did not give me any explanation and left. Then same driver came back in the afternoon and delivered. Then ai asked what happened in the morning. He said he made mistakes and took wrong truck. No apologies to me. Also the customer person did not apology and only made excuses. Terrible Terrible customer service! I never use this company again. Now that I've unpacked from my move this week and surveyed the condition of my stuff at the destination, I can officially say I am overall pleased by the service I received from MiniMoves. This is my second time using them and, despite some hurdles with the back office, I am a happy customer once again. My moving team - Miguel, Tony and Carlos - got slowed down in traffic en route to my old place but had the courtesy to call 10 minutes before their expected arrival time to let me know and give me a revised ETA. Upon arrival, they listened closely to my instructions and promptly got to work. They more than made up for any lost time, were friendly and had smiles on their faces the whole time. The guys took great care with my stuff. They wrapped everything in blankets - instead of shrink wrap and tape, the way another moving company that is more highly rated on Yelp did in a previous move and ultimately damaged a lot of my stuff - and were very careful to not scuff or ding any walls. My condo association thanks them for that! I even trusted them to move my electronics and everything arrived in as good of shape as when it left. There were no surprise charges either - no $12 rolls of tape or other BS fees. Why four stars instead of five? Dealing with the back office left a little to be desired. After my initial contact for a quote, the only effective way to communicate with my sales agent was by telephone. Though very helpful on the phone, he ignored my emails even though that was the way all paperwork was communicated. Once I verbally committed, I was put under a great deal of pressure by their QA person to sign the contract. I'm a repeat customer, I booked one month in advance for a late-winter move (typically quiet time of year) and I found her to be quite rude. Once I signed, not a word until I called them the week of the move to make sure it was still happening. If I hadn't had such a good experience with MiniMoves once before, I would have gone with another mover for no other reason than my experience with the back office. In spite of all of this, the high level of quality service from my moving team made up for it. Not all movers are created equal, and Miguel, Tony and Carlos were a top-notch team. read more
