I very rarely review places, I especially hate to give a negative one but I feel very frustrated with this salon. First I'd like to start positive by saying the salon is very clean and welcoming IF you have an appointment. They open new files, buffers, etc. for you so you know it is sanitary. I have been here a handful of times, I really liked it because they have the bio seaweed gel polish which is better and less harsh for your nails and they have really great colors. This place is not the place to go to if you are in a pinch and don't try to ask them to squeeze you in because they won't attempt it or even pretend to see if they can. You basically need an appointment at least 72 hours in advance or you just don't get one at all. This is frustrating given you pay $$$ for a mediocre mani or pedi. When you do finally have an appointment everything is timed and feels rushed so it's not relaxing at all. Everything has an up charge. Want care for your cuticles? there's a fee. Want a leg/hand massage? there's a fee. You don't get enough for what you pay for. It's extremely over priced $45 for a gel mani and $64 for a gel pedi, this does not include gratuity. It's just not worth the stress of it all. It's also very tight in there, just rows of tech stations and you share a pedicure bench with other people which can be uncomfortable. I really wanted to like it here but after spending as much as you are enough times to understand how it runs, none of it feels worth it. Had THE BEST gel manicure today from Kristy. She was extremely nice and explained how miniluxe runs their business. It was the cleanest nail salon I have ever been in and everyone was very nice. She offered me tea or water which I thought was a nice touch. It was also a very quiet and calming atmosphere which I enjoyed. I will definitely be going back to see Kristy!! read more

I wish I knew about MiniLuxe earlier because I would of been going there the entire time! The salon itself is so clean, crisp and bright. The only downside is the services are rather pricey, but you get what you pay for. The quality of service makes me come back every single time. The fact that they guarantee a chip free manicure is what separates MiniLuxe from other salons. Appointments can be booked online for convince, which is another bonus. I love this place. read more

Horrible establishment. We booked two pedicures and were told when we called to confirm that the appointment were not together. Victoria was unable to fix this for us and continued to tell us it was an "app glitch". She made zero accommodation for us (although she kept us on the phone for 30 minutes) and also offered no incentive for us to return. I called back and spoke with Kelly who was condescending and unapologetic-and apparently the manager. It was clear she did not want our business and that she does not know how to run a business. Pretentious, unprofessional and immature. It should be noted that the same thing happened to us the day before and we did exactly what we were told to do and this STILL happened. **EDIT** The below reply from Kelly is dishonest. Kelly is who I spoke with PRIOR to writing this review and Kelly is who told me there was nothing to be done and she was in no way apologetic. This establishment lies, is fake and has zero integrity as proven by Kelly's reply. Interested to see if I'll really get a call. I have been going to the miniluxe in Newton Center for 2 years now and absolutely love it there, I have also had a great experience. A girlfriend recently moved north of the city so a group of 4 of us decided to book gel manicures for a wedding the next day at the miniluxe in lynnfield. I wish we had gone to Newton. We arrived 3 minutes late, when we walked in we were reminded we were late and we understood we would have to pick our color quickly. Then after 3 women chatted for 15 minutes trying to decide if they could squeeze us we were told 2 of us could get regular manicures 2 of us could get polish changes. If they had taken us in when we first got there they would of had plenty of time. After a very uncomfortable 18 minutes we decided to leave. As we were leaving one of the girls mentioned the wedding and all of a sudden the girl at the desk offered to squeeze us in. At this point there was so much frustration and annoyance with the situation none of us wanted to get our nails done there. Miniluxe in Newton has great customer service and a great team, Miniluxe in Lynnfield needs alot of work, the customer service is absolutely terrible! read more

Parking was a little tricky for my weekend appointment. After 10 minutes, I found that that if you drive around to the back of the salon, you will find much better parking options. I arrived for my appointment 5 minutes early- but had to wait 20 minutes for my service. The women that run the front desk are incredibly nice-- and the salon is beautifully decorated. Although I didn't find any of my usual "go to" new OPI colors to chose from, I was okay to try something new. They carry OPI, Essie and their own brand. However, if you are very particular about your shade- you might want to bring your own. I was completely taken back that a customer brought a baby with her to her appointment. I absolutely love children, (and I am also a parent) but I couldn't understand why an upscale salon like this doesn't have a policy or a polite sign posted about this, especially when you think about ALL of the other young women in there that have booked a sitter so they could have that badly needed "me" time,--- only to then have to listen to a baby crying. In my opinion, it takes away from a relaxing experience for everyone else in the salon. On a personal note, my feeling is it's not all that great for a baby to be breathing in high volumes of nail polish and remover. This new mom clearly just saw this as a stop on her errands- and had no clue that bringing her baby to a salon where women are paying very high prices to be pampered is just not okay. The salon was very polite about it, but that situation turned me off. Okay, on to my pedicure. Had I read the reviews on Yelp prior to my service, I would have seen that the set up is very different than most salons. They have a very open concept. If you want to book a pedicure with friends, this is a nice set up. If you want some a quiet relaxing atmosphere, this is not for you. Take a look at the pictures posted and you'll see that the pedicure stations are booths- not individual chairs. You are sitting very close to the person next to you. In fact, are sharing a bench with her. Constant chatter. The bench is not adjustable, -- it doesn't push back, recline, or massage. This will be a challenge for taller women. The tub for my feet looked very clean, but it doesn't have any kind of whirlpool/bubbling action. It's just a basin of warm water. The nail tech used tools that were clearly in a sterile pack. A+ for that! They also use a fresh emery board and that little white sand block on every client. I watched them dispose of the tools after my service. I get pedicures once a month and I always like to try new places. I've never ever in my life complained about a pedicure, but I felt the nail tech didn't completely know what she was doing. She had trouble cutting, filing and painting. She spent A LOT of time with her paint brush cleaning up the mess around the toes. I paid for extra massage and that was nice. The end result was that all 10 toes were painted, but it was painful for me to watch her work. For sure this is an usual thing, because everyone else there looked very happy with their service. I wondered if this was the person's first day on the job. I asked how long the salon had been open and she had no idea. She asked the nail tech who sat next to her and she said 8 months ago. So- my tech hadn't been there long. I didn't say anything through the pedicure, but finally spoke up and the manager, without hesitation, switched me to another tech for my manicure. That service was perfectly fine. Furthermore, the manager talked with me and asked for specific feedback - explaining to me that they saw this as an opportunity to improve and coach. I really liked their philosophy. In addition to the fact that this is very clean salon, I must also mention that they use awesome lemon products. Wow- that scrub and cream is crazy good and smells so nice and clean. I LOVED it. The second thing I liked about the salon is that they take a lot of pride in their work. They want you to be happy and will bend over backwards to be kind. They offer water, magazines- and they're just really nice people. Ultimately, I gave 3 stars because the design of the salon is conducive to women chatting. I have a very high energy job where I talk all day long, so this won't be my first choice salon. I prefer a quiet and peaceful environment where they have individual bays so I can recharge. However, this is perfect for a bridal party- or a girls day out! read more

Absolutely the worst manicure of my life. My nails were cut to the quick so that it is somewhat painful to do anything as there is some exposed nail bed. They are not evenly shaped and the polish bled onto the skin and was not cleaned up. Given the prices you should receive a flawless manicure. Additionally, it took the nail technician 15 minutes longer than it should have. In fairness, I was comped for the service and offered to have my manicure redone - due to time and that it hurts to have anything now touch any of my fingers I did not take them up on it. read more

I Love Mini Lux. Have been to this salon in Lynnfied several times since they opened. Each time I have been greeted by Dominique at the front desk. Dominique makes my experience that much more special. She goes above and beyond to be sure my experience was perfect. The ladies that work at Mini Lux are very professional and thorough with their nail and brow care. I have been visiting MiniLuxe Lynnfield for the past three years, and have always had a wonderful overall experience. I really like the cleanliness of the salon, as well as the friendly staff. Sarah V. was the nail technician who gave me a pedicure last week when I came in, and it was great. I was her last appointment, and she took her time (even though I was the last client there), which I really appreciated. Both my manicure and my (alleged) no chip pedicure chipped within hour of leaving the salon. The salon is beautiful and the person who did my nails was really nice but I was SO disappointed at how quickly both my manicure and pedicure looked old and couldn't last for more than 24 hours ( I went to the wedding I had the next day with chipped nails). I have had my fair share of mani-pedis before and for the amount of money I spent I was hugely disappointed with the quality. I am appalled at this establishment on their rudeness and lack of service. All I wanted done from them was to take my nail polish off. I am not allowed to have nail polish at my job so I figured right before I go into work I'll have them take it off quickly. I went in and they absolutely refused to do it. I told them I do not want anything done to my nails just to quickly take off the color and the lady behind the desk said in a very rude manna "No, I'm sorry we can not and will not take off the nail polish." I was astonished I asked what kind of business is this and how do they have any business if this is how they treat their clients and won't even do something as simple as take of my nail polish. I went to the Lynnfield location this past Thursday and in the middle of signing up to be a new costumer the receptionist looks at me and says "oops sorry someone just booked an appointment online for that time." She told me at 3:55 there was an open appointment for 4 and now was showing me the door because she did not take the time slot off online. Double check your appointments at all times, as others have mentioned the appointment scheduling system needs to be updated and more precise. You are dealing with people who have to take time out of their day to use your service and if you didn't have them you wouldn't be in business. This is an overnight wonder, years from now you will not be in business. Treat people special from the appointment schedule to the time they leave and they might come back. Train your employees and have a manager on staff at all times, even on a Sunday. Your staff ruined a special birthday get together for my daughters and I because of scheduling issues. You lost out on five gel mani and five pedi. Plus we will never use any of your salons again and neither will any of our other family members or friends. Now that's to bad, but get your act together, you are dealing with the public. read more

I received a really fantastic gel manicure from Liz on the house. I went during a light snowstorm, so there was only one another customer and thus I can't re-comment on the wait times. (I did have a much better experience with their online appointment system, though.) I'd like to give MiniLuxe Lynnfield 3.5 stars based on this third try, but their gel prices are still way too much for me to continue going here for that service. Have never had nails come here before but I went in for a manicure on Tuesday. I wanted a break from gel and the concierge informed me that their "performance polish" is a great alternative to gel because it wears like gel, looks like gel, and lasts like gel.... It didn't look like gel, it was streaky and my manicure chipped within 24 hours and was completely ruined by today (Thanksgiving) which was a real bummer and so inconvenient because I got my nails done for the holiday. Ended up removing the polish myself because it peeled so bad. Definitely will not be back and will not be paying $30 for a manicure that lasts a day. Would not recommend at all. The plus, my manicurist was very nice and pleasant. read more

Very disappointing manicure. I always get gel manicures, but a friend told me about the "Performance Polish" manicure here and I thought that I would give it a try. Apparently that decision was a mistake. My nails were not filed evenly, there are multiple bubbles in the polish, and there are many jagged edges. I literally went home and filed my own nails, so that they wouldn't be so uneven and jagged. It is a very loud environment and not relaxing, at all. The seats and tables are also not comfortable. The chairs are stiff and they do not use a pad on the tables, like most salons do, for the comfort of your arms. There was no toilet paper in the one bathroom there and there were no extra rolls in the cabinets, only tissues. The girl at the desk was also not very helpful or friendly. It was also very difficult to hear and understand what she was saying. All in all, a very disappointing experience and I will not be going back here and I do not recommend it. read more

My awesome coworkers got me a "preggi pedi" as a gift and I was so excited to use it. I went in last night for a 7:15 pm appointment and only waited a few minutes. My technician, Binh, was so genuinely nice. She held my purse and helped me up from the chair (I am almost 9 months pregnant) without hesitation. She offered me water several times and was just gentle and so accommodating to my swollen, tired feet. The 60-minute preggi pedi was so relaxing and the scrubs they used had great scents. In my opinion, the services are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I would definitely go back to see Binh over the place I've been going to for the last year. I have been going to miniluxe for quite some time now. Probably 2 years at least. What I have noticed from peering around during my last few visits have been worry some at best. I've seen a couple of girls (girls I've never seen before until recent) barely clean the pedicure tubs, it's just a rinse and go. In the past 2 months there have been problem with the gel lamps (example: a couple of times my technicians have had to switch machines at least 5 times to find one that works). The technicians seem to be stressed and running behind which was never a problem before (i assume from being overbooked). This place is just not what it used to be. I can say for a fact though that there are some girls that need recognition (I.e. Ali, khanh, julie, Lina, Kim) these girls have always been top notch. Please miniluxe fix your flaws cause you guys were an amazing salon. read more

I have been going to this milnluxe for the past few years and was always satisfied, until the last two visits. The first visit the pedicurist was very forceful with the instruments and basically only did one foot. The second time, which was today, the management let a woman with a crying baby stay in the store for 45 minutes. The mother was extremely rude in not taking the baby outside, but management did nothing! I will look for another place, somewhere where I can relax! read more

I rushed in here needing a quick color change before a meeting one day. I was greeted and fit in the schdule. I than had a very plesant experience with Miriam. The color change lasted me a full week, so I decided to make an appointment for a full manicure. I figured since Miriam was so great, all of the other technicians would be too. Wrong . . . I now have a $30 manicure which consist of bubbled polish and bleeding cuticles. I knew something was off when I sat down. The technician kept dazing off and looking out the window. She was not really paying attention to the job she was doing at all. I asked for round nails and she filed (very roughly) them into a severe square. She was even worse with the cuticle cutters. I actually cried out in pain loud enough that three other customers asked if I was ok. When my nails were done, I pointed out that they were bubbled. The technician huffed and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to fix them. At that, she only would fox three of them, and two of them bubbled again. When I mentioned this to the cashier on the way out, she grabbed my hand, told me that this happens sometimes, and that if any of them chipped they had a five day guarantee. I also mentioned the technician had cut me and was offered a $3.00 discount on a $30 manicure, and was told that my file would be noted so I would not get the same technition again. At this point I do not think I will be going back. Miriam's superior service sold me on their expensive manicure, thinking the extra money would be worth it, but the other technition just ruined my whole MiniLuxe experience. read more

I really wanted to love this place but nope. I was a first time walk in and they were able to take me right there which was great. I picked my gel color (they had great choices) but after that it was down hill from there. I sat down then she just looked at me nothing no hi nothing. I know they work for tips but thats kind of rude, so I started talking asked her questions but they were one word so I stopped. She got up many times, but what really made me mad was I was pretty much took care of my own nails. Pushing the gel light button turning it on and when I reminded her she said " umm i know" but you clearly didn't because you forget when you put the first coat on and got mad that i didn't do it. I was in complete shock I just wanted to leave, and to make it worse something that should of took 30-35 mins ( i was told) took over and hour and 15. ( i am guessing because she got up so many times). There are many more nail salons out there way cheaper and much better service. If you want to do your own nails here then this is the place to be. The only reason this place got 2 stars is because i didn't have an apt and took me right there and they had many color choices. I brought this down from 2 stars to one because I already have a chipped nail. ( last one day) Total waste for 45 dollars! read more

I have been going to various MiniLuxe locations for years (Newbury St, Prudential and Lynnefield) and it has always been a positive experience. But this recent experience was very lack luster and very frustrating. I rarely write reviews on Yelp, but I felt this one had to be submitted since it might bring a little bit more awareness on how good customer service is important. I came in for a signature pedicure and my technician was Eloise. While getting my feet filed after being trimmed, she filed so hard on the right big toe nail that I pulled back a little bit and said to her if she could be a little bit more gentle. So she apologized and said she would. Then as she was cleaning underneath my left big toe I pulled back again because I felt the instrument being poking too deep. So she then apologized. I told her that my feet could be a little sensitive, but I was hoping this was a sign that she should take my cue and try to be a little bit more gentle with handling the tools and using them on my feet. So then as she was cleaning my right big toe, she cut me and I started to bleed. She then apologized again and I asked her if I should not continue with the service. She said that it would be fine and she put antiseptic on it and continued. She then told me that I was one of the most sensitive clients she has ever had. I was taken back by that comment. I have had many pedicures with various technicians at this location who have given me very thorough cleanings and have never cut me or have been very aggressive to the point where even filing nails would hurt. I paid for my service, left a tip in the envelope and asked the receptionist where I can make a comment and she notified me that at the bottom of my e-receipt I could leave a comment. I am waiting for my e-receipt to come in and will be making a comment to let corporate know. My right big toe still is a little bit sore from the cut and I am hoping that this will heal without any issues. I am hoping that MiniLuxe management teaches technicians to be more aware of their client's needs, preferences and how they would like to be treated and serviced in a comfortable manner. But also technicians should remember that it is about customer service and uphold a high standard of professionalism. I will definitely not go back to Eloise as she was a little too rough. For the money you pay for a pedicure here or any service, you would like to make sure that you are given a pleasurable experience that includes a great treatment and a professional technician that doesn't just keep apologizing but also asks what she can do to make the service better. I love this place! Over the past few years, I've visited MiniLuxe in both Lynnfield and Newbury St. for manicures, pedicures, and brow waxes and am equally impressed by both locations. I'm actually moving to upstate NY and I just had my final appointment, and I'm dreading having to find another go-to spot. I'm a teacher, so cost is certainly a consideration; while MiniLuxe's prices are on the higher side, I've come to realize that it's totally worth it for the level of professionalism, quality of results, and longevity of services. I love that the technicians and waxers here are consistently pleasant, appropriately friendly (i.e., not overly/annoyingly chatty, but seem to find that proper level) and really seem to CARE about the quality of their services. When I go to cheaper salons, I find I almost always leave disappointed with some aspect of a service--streaky polish, suspicious 'sanitation' practices, inconsistent nail lengths, asymmetrical brows, etc. At MiniLuxe, this has never been the case. The technicians take their time and are careful to make sure I'm happy with the results. On the off chance they make a mistake, they quickly perceive it, are apologetic, and quick to rectify, unlike some of the other crappy chains where I feel the technicians often aren't even focusing on the work. As an example of this, my brow waxer at MiniLuxe (Teddy, I believe) gave me perfect brows the other day, aside from the fact that I was left with a tiny nick (I have very thin skin, so this is common). She apologized profusely and went beyond this to give me, out of her personal supply, some Vitamin E caplets that would reduce the chance of scabbing. I really appreciate the attention to detail at MiniLuxe. In addition, manicures and pedicures from MiniLuxe last much longer than those from anywhere else. I'm on my fifth day and I'm still having people ask if my standard mani is actually gel. Nope, just extremely well-done! Spotless facilities, easy online booking, occasional e-mail promotions (free upgrades, discount packages, etc.) add to my affection for the place. (I saw another reviewer mentioned that the place can become overly social and less-than-relaxing, with the openness of the space. This is true, and a bit unfortunate if you happen to be there the same time as a gregarious group, but I'd still place ML miles above most any other nail/wax salon I've visited.) EDIT: I'm editing this review a few months later. Unbeknownst to me on the day I wrote the review above, gushing about my beautiful fifth-day manicure, I would become engaged later that night! I was so impressed with my MiniLuxe manicure (keep in mind it was NOT gel!) because, throughout the next few days when EVERYONE wanted to see my hand, my manicure remained chip free for FIVE more days--a total of ten wonderful chip-free days. I actually had to remove it on the tenth day NOT due to to chips but because of growth from the bottom. Some of my friends were incredulous that the engagement was a surprise, because my perfect manicure seemed to suggest I was preparing for it! If you were thinking of getting your nails or any service done at this quaint, modern looking salon which is beautiful & a LIE to the eye, it's happened more than once. With me & my close friend. Walk in and ask for a service. I was told there was "nothing open " on that day and to "pick any other day just not today " i was basically turned away without being able to even make an appointment. The same with my friend the other woman behind the desk told her there were no open available time slots open for the next " month". Come on that's such a lie. I went back into MiniLuxe to see if someone would please fix it for me. The woman working at the front desk stated no one could help me. I was so eager to try out miniluxe as I've heard good things. However I am unable to say the same... When I called to make an appointment it rings to the "concierge" took almost 3min to answer the phone. I had a preggie pedicure and manicure. The woman cut my skin and proceeded to buff the area and it got infected. But the manager made it right and offered that service for another time. Then experience#2, I called no one answered the concierge so I left a vm. They called me back and I scheduled a manicure, pedicure (again) and a brow wax for that same day 12:30. As I arrived, I was not in the computer and they couldn't provide me with the brow service??!!... It was extremely frustrating as I scheduled my afternoon around these services. There was no manger here to speak with. Seems like they need better communication, management and service. I hope my mani lasts more than 2 days. After my services today, I was pleasantly surprised by the managers (Lauren & Ann??) that they comped my services due to the lack of communication, time and stress. I would say miniluxe is WAY overpriced for the above type of service. However, the techs I had today Cia and Lauren did a great job and it wasn't their fault for the various issues. I am hopeful this feedback can help them improve and workout the kinks. read more

I went there this past Wednesday for the first time. I got a gel manicure that was 45 dollars and half of them have already chipped. I won't go back for nails because it was over priced and didn't last long at all. On a positive note they are better at waxing eyebrows. read more

I've been here twice now, both time for a shellac manicure. The entire space is very clean, and inviting as well as the staff being welcoming. Both times I received my shellac manicures however they started to come off within a couple of days. I've been to a couple different salons, and never had the polish peel off so fast. I'm sure that some of the other services are great here, however the shellac just didn't stay on. read more

I think this place is beautiful and very clean! I give it 3 stars however because it is not worth spending $45 on a pedicure!!
