My review is on MiniLuxe Wellesley, but my first time at ML was in Boston. So this is how I compare. I received an email for the New Year special for $49 Mani/Pedi and decided my husband and I would start our year off right! I called and spoke to Cathy (who I realize is the Mgr from other yelp posts) she was friendly; answered my questions regarding the price and such. Cathy was friendly, prompt and I made the appt - I started off on a good foot! We went the next day and was not greeted so well by Vivian at the front desk. I was almost 30+ minutes early for my appointment because it was our first time and I hate being late. I walked in the door and got a short hello, I asked if the street parking was free since it was NYD and she quickly said no. However, she failed to tell me like the woman next door at DD that there was FREE parking in the back. Anyhow, I told her who I was and that I had a 4:30 appt with my husband. She cut me off to say "I don't see a man's mani/pedi in here and if you are making an appt. for a man, you really need to let us know b/c not all technicians feel comfortable doing men" I as politely as I could said " I called yesterday and spoke to Cathy and we talked about my husband, so It was noted on the phone and if it's not in your system, then I don't know what to tell you". Vivian said "oh well, this was not noted" ... Not, oh sorry for any confusion or some sort of CUSTOMER SERVICE BS you can feed me. Ok - so that's how we started. I did also want to mention I also babbled to Vivian about the SPECIAL I specifically was there for and spoke to Cathy about. Upon returning from parking, nothing is said to us; we sit down for the 25 mins or so - and I'm ok with that since we were pretty early. I picked my color and made many observations of Vivian being polite to every other woman who walked in the door. What I did observer was all the other women were of money. It was not hard to see this based on the baubles on their hands and such. I was dressed in comfy sweats and a sweater, so clearly she thought I was not worthy of being nice too. Two things to note Vivian and Wellesley ML - I may not flaunt a look of (no money) but would Vivian care if I told her I pull in six figures, this is where "Don't judge a book by it's cover" comes into play. But I digress..... Where the fun begins - We see Be and Kadijia (sorry if misspelled) for our mani/pedis. Both women were very very nice and super chatty to myself and my husband. They both did a fabulous job on both. I enjoyed their charm and their OCD of doing my nails :) I would recommend them to anyone. My husband esp. loved the attentiveness to his feet by Be! We get done, feeling nice and I have my husband deal with Vivian. Funny - she's somewhat friendlier to him, but I hear the charges in total and think that didn't make sense. When I'm done - I walk up, Vivian looks up from her computer (says nothing), I said I was wondering how the total came to price for our services as we had the special. She curtly said "Well, it was not noted in your appt. and how am I to know who received the email and who did not". Valid point Vivian, but was (again) the tone necessary? And again I said - I spoke with Cathy and if it was not noted, then I don't know what to tell you. I only called b/c of the email. Vivian said "Oh ok, then let me get you a refund" .. Gave me back cash and that was that - we left. *PS - Both ladies did thank us as we walked out* High level comparisons. Boston ML - Quirky girl behind desk, super busy on a Saturday, said hello, thank you for coming, were you happy with your appt, would you like to make another one. Is there anything else you need (i.e. polish, lotions, etc..) and would you like me to write down on a card who you saw today. Wellesley ML - Vivian NEVER said hello, good-bye, how was your service, would you like to make another appointment, is there anything else you need, and we had to ask who we saw and she wrote it on a sticky note - most importantly Vivian never said THANK YOU. Cathy at Wellesley ML - you have a nice place, but I will not return with rudeness that starts from the beginning and ended the same. read more

Rude and unprofessional. I called at 9 am to make an appointment at 4 pm, they misbooked me for 3:30 pm, then when I got there are 4 pm, Cathy (the store manager) was rude, spoke over me, did not apologize and did nothing to rectify the situation. She did not admit that it was her mistake that she incorrectly booked the appointment. She told me I could get a polish change, when I had booked a warm oil pedicure. I wasn't wearing any polish. Then as I was walking out exceedingly frustrated, she threw a card for a complimentary manicure on the desk, which is ridiculous as I never get manicures (I work with my hands) and I had come in for a pedicure. I wasn't asking for anything, honestly a nice apology that she had messed up the appointment and that she was sorry would have been nice. Being told it was my fault and that I could get a different service that I didn't want, nor applied to me, was not professional. I subsequently went to another salon, got my pedicure and a nice neck massage and moved on. For the prices they charge, I would have expected much more professional service. read more

Virtual no hand massage and when I requested a glitter coat that my friend sitting next to me was getting, the manicurist said no and got up, walked away, and started a pedicure. I used to go here quite frequently and went last week after a 3 month hiatus. Sadly, this place is no longer that great.... It took an hour and a half for a basic manicure and pedicure, that chipped within a few days. The cost for this service was extremely expensive and the women at the front desk was on her phone the entire time. I told her the appointment took way too long, and she didn't apologize (she needed to get back to FB). I'm upset that a pedicure chipped within a week. I would call and complain but I NEVER want to go back here again. The customer service used to be great, but I don't recommend paying a high price for mediocre services. I will not be returning! I was absolutely disgusted by the service that I received at Miniluxe this past weekend. I went for a manicure with a friend of mine. I went when they first opened and wasn't really impressed but thought I would try them out again. Big mistake...! The technician that worked on my nails was horrible. To start, she was incredibly unfriendly and rough while shaping my nails. She then used a base coat that was clearly too old and was clumping on my nails. I asked her to redo the base coat and she could not be more annoyed with me. Needless to say, she did a pretty crappy job on the manicure. The atmosphere of the place is also extremely snobby. I know they focus on cleanliness but other nail salons in Wellesley are focusing on this too. Save your money and go to Juju or Mass Nails instead. read more

Mina did my manicure and pedicure today. She did a great job, everything was very clean and sterile, and I didn't feel like I had to talk to her. The front desk woman also went around and asked everyone for water/tea and she used first names when she asked/or returned with a beverage. I'm not from Mass so usually I find the customer service here appalling, but today it was great. There was also a a little sign that had first timers names on it, it made it seem like they appreciate the business and don't take the customer for granted. read more

I am an avid- Miniluxer! I am at a location at least once a week for a manicure or another service. I either go to this location, Newton or Boston. Wellesley is the newest location and I absolutely love it-- the staff is great-- friendly, courteous and the technicians are really talented and quality conscious . My only wish for the studio is that they had the latest OPI/Essie collections as soon as the other locations have them. I also wish that when purchasing a gift card, you were able to include gratuity. Otherwise everything is super ! Miniluxe is the BEST nail salon ! read more

I don't know why I keep coming back to Mini-Luxe. The pedicure is decent, and I do love their streamlined appointment process, but $37 barely seems worth it. My technician was friendly, but the one next to us was so loud and talkative it was distracting and did not create the typical peaceful atmosphere. I think the service overall could be better, and the prices are just too high. It was disjointing to have a different person checking me out from check-in and both were weird, although mostly friendly. I will say, they did accommodate a last-minute change to my appointment time, which was appreciated, but I wonder if that's because they are never fully booked? They do not accept tips on a credit card, so make sure you bring cash or a check. There is a free private parking lot in the back, so don't go searching for those metered spaces. read more

I work down the street and made an appointment for a Brazilian after work the day before my vacation. I was called the morning of because the esthetician quit and they said they could fit me in at 430. I was working till 430 and asked if it was ok if I got there at like 435 because I was right down the street and the woman said no they need a full 30 min. So I asked what if I just got a bikini instead and she said no she need a full 30 min for that too and the persons shift ended right at 5 which is bull. I understand things happen but if you cancel my appointment at least have the decency to accommodate me. Not a good way to run a business. Just left MinLuxe after my first visit. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I decided to try them out bc they offer a low chemical polish. I booked the MinLuxe Signature Pedicure. This is listed as a 45-minute "anything but basic" pedicure. Let me tell you, it was beyond basic. I was seated for my 7:15pm appointment promptly at 7:15pm and soaked my feet for 4 minutes before my technician saw me (no big deal here). He was very nice and seemed quite attentive. However, within the first couple minutes of filing my nails and scrubbing my feet it was clear he was in a rush. He tried to push a callus treatment and when I declined, that was then end of my foot filling/scrubbing. The creme massage lasted a total of 5 minutes between both legs/feet (at this point I was keeping track). The polish job was fine, so I left with a decent looking pedicure (besides skin that could have been removed from bottoms of feet). When my technician finished it was 7:52pm. So my 45 minute pedicure was 33 minutes and the thing we all enjoy the most (massage and foot filing) is where I was shorted. I will be heading back to my other local nail spa and will just bring my own polish! Positives: on-time appointments, clean facility, clean tools and basins, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Just realized I meant to post a good review here months ago, but forgot. This place is great! I went to see Oanh every few weeks for a couple months before my wedding last fall, because I have a bad habit of picking at my nails, but knew if I was paying to make them look nice, I would be more likely to leave them alone. She's super nice, and does a fantastic job - regular manicure and shellac. I brought my grandmother in when she was in town, and every time I came back after, she asked me how was my grandmother doing. Love the online booking - you can pick your technician, and if your schedule changes, it's easy to reschedule too. The only downside is the price. Haven't been back for awhile, because I can't personally justify spending money regularly on my nails, but if I could, this would be the place to go. read more

I had been to Miniluxe Wellesley twice before and had been pleased with the service. A little expensive, but it is a treat for me. I booked my appointment days in advance for sunday. I had been there on a sunday before and it was really quiet. The technician that day told me that they were normally quiet on Sundays. Anyway, I booked my appointment online for a manicure and a pedicure and there were multiple appointment openings available for this Sunday. I was just getting ready to head out the door for my manu/pedi appt when I got a phone call from Miniluxe saying they had to cancel my appointment (this was only 25 to 30 minutes before my actual appointment time) because one of the technicians called out sick. What? I understand that people get sick, but that is the business' responsibility, not mine. Your clients should not be the people who suffer. The person on the phone explained that they were booked solid (?) and that they coud either schedule me for a manicure at a later time or a MINI pedicure at also a later time. A mini? So I booked an appointment well in advance for a full mani/pedi, got canceled at the last minute, and offered altermate time slots for not really the services I orignally booked for? Nope. Sorry. Consistently good service. Have had regular and gel mani/pedis. Have had eyebrows tweezed (trying to get them back into shape after they had been waxed too thinly at another salon). Had a thorough bikini wax. Everyone has been very professional and technically good. Very clean. Front desk is easy to work with for scheduling, upbeat greetings, like the text reminders. Came in for a gel manicure. The technician Lisa took so long to soak off the nail polish I thought my fingers were on fire. When I asked to wash my hands, she laughed and said no and sprayed them with some alcohol - I was so confused by her manner I only later realized that they clearly have a bathroom where I could have washed my hands. I have been to Mini-Luxe in Wellesley a few times. The first time I waited waited 20 minutes because the receptionist never told the technician that I was there. Once I got to the technician, she did a nice job. The second time I went the technician went over her time with her customer because the customer wanted her daughter's nails painted with flowers and it took extra time that wasn't booked on the schedule. So again I waited 10 minutes for my appointment. Once I got to the technician, she did an okay job. Today I booked an appointment because I got some promotional email for mani specials and made an appointment same day for after work. I was late to my appointment by 8 minutes (traffic in downtown Wellesley was a bear and parking was a challenge) and when I checked in with the front desk I apologized for being late due to parking/traffic. I took cash out of my wallet to pre-pay and that's when I got the attitude. The young lady/receptionist told me that they could not take me, but not in a nice way. She looked down her nose in a snotty way, gave me attitude and said I could come back in 1.5 hours for the next appointment. Really????? I walked out and won't be back. I'll take my business elsewhere to a salon who have friendly receptionists and helpful staff. The service is poor, the can't seem to figure out the scheduling and this last experience is the worst experience that I have ever had at a salon. I had a gel polish done there and it was a clean facility (almost felt spa like). Didn't feel like the run of the mill nail salon where they churn you in and get you out. My manicurist (Larceny) did a fantastic manicure. Very meticulous. Got all the edges and no bubbles or bumps. It was clear that she took her time and wanted them to come out as perfectly as she could get them. I appreciate that! The only con is the cost which is to be expected in this area. However, it was $27 just for a polish. For a full mani it would have been $45 (before tip). So if it were a little more affordable, I would be going back there frequently! read more

2nd time with a bad gel manicure. Had them done on Sunday and today (Wednesday) it is already chipping off. I am very careful with them, I wear gloves when washing dishes, etc. Ive gone to cheaper nail salons and a gel manicure will look perfect (but growing out) after 3 weeks. I was so incredibly excited when I received a gift card to Miniluxe and immediately signed up for my treatments. With my gift card I received a brochure for the Wellesley location Miniluxe, which advertised the following offer: "Introductory Sepcial - Receive 20% off your manicure and pedicure service Monday - Wednesday when combined with any MiniFacial treatment." I was so excited to get such an amazing deal and booked online, which was very easy to do and convenient. I couldn't wait until my appointment. My appointment started with a MiniFacial by Mariella ( I think that was her name). She was very kind, helpful, informative and knowledgeable about the products and procedure. What I love most is that she didn't try to sell me all of the products in the facial, which I so appreciated! I hate the awkward sales pitches that you get when you're trying to relax and enjoy your treatment. Wonderful start to my appointment and very nice for my first facial. After, I went out into the sitting area to wait for my pedicure/manicure. I waited for 15-20 minutes, which I wouldn't have been upset about if someone had told me that my scheduled technician was running late. Another technician came over to get me and started my treatment. Many other nail salons that I've been to had comfortable massage chairs or lounge chairs to sit in, whereas here there were uncomfortable benches. I'm also used to nail salons who have pedicure tubs with jets in them, which help keep the water warm and feels luxurious. The tubs here did not have that and the water quickly turned from comfortably warm to room temperature within 15 minutes. My technician Insun was great, but a little rough. My foot twitched out of her hand when she was pushing back my cuticles, but she was very apologetic and was much gentler after. She did a great job, but instead of using toe separators when painting my toenails (like every other technician doing pedicures next to me) she rolled up a ripped piece of paper towel and wrapped it in-between my toes. I was confused about that. Did they run out of separators? I loved how all of the tools were brand new and not being reused on other people, but overall the pedicure was mediocre. After, I had my O.P.I gel manicure. My technician was Lizz. I had never had a gel manicure before, so I was not familiar with the process. Lizz got started with the gel polishes and told me to hold my hand under the machine. I did as she said for both hands for the base coat. However, I apparently didn't hold my hand all the way under the machine and therefore it didn't turn on. Again, it was my first gel manicure so I had no idea how it was supposed to work and I was embarrassed that I didn't know any better. Lizz seemed annoyed with the fact that she might need to start over and in turn I felt bad for not realizing how the machine worked. Thankfully, she didn't need to restart but I felt like I had to walk on eggshells the rest of the appointment because I could tell she wasn't in the best mood. My hand twitched while she was painting a nail and a little polish got on my skin. Normally, not a big issue but she huffed and seemed annoyed that I messed up her painting. Yikes. It continued to feel this way throughout the appointment and I felt like I was a nuisance. As she finished up she finally explained to me that her first client came late and she was supposed to do my pedicure, but was unable to because she ran late. Look, everyone has a bad day, trust me I've had plenty, but you can't allow that to ruin your customer's experience. It was awkward and uncomfortable and if she had put aside her feelings before starting my manicure or explained it before we started, we both could've had a better experience. I was happy to be done. I finally headed to the register after my three appointments. After I received my total I asked the receptionist about the introductory special that was on their brochure, which I pulled out of my bag to show her just in case she wasn't familiar with it. She wash't and immediately refuted with, "but you didn't get a MiniFacial." I had to remind her that I did indeed have one, which was awkward. She then laughs at her mistake and says, "you're like 'bitch gimme my discount!'" I wish I was kidding! I had to wait for my ride to come pick me up from my appointment and instead of waiting inside the salon I went next store to Dunkin Donuts because I had to get out of there. I guess I just had high expectations for my appointments. I thought that given the pricing the staff would be friendly and accommodating, and that the services would be far superior to those that I've gotten at regular nail salons. There were so many small, yet disappointing events that happened that could've been handled differently. I'm not a picky person, so I'm surprised that I was disappointed. I tried to convince myself that I had a good time, but the more I think about my day the more disappointed I become. read more

Great service and get results. I love my nails especially my waxes with Mariana. She's is great and very professional. All the tweezers and equipment are CLEAN and comes right out of medical packaging. If you need a good waxer, Mariana is definitely the person to see! Everyone is great at doing nails there so I don't really have a preference on who does my nails but when it comes to waxing, Mariana is my go to. read more

Honestly mini lux has a very relaxing and clean atmosphere. BUT.. when booking appointments they very often write you down for the wrong time schedule a appoint less long then you booked and then there for not being able to fit you in. Do not expect to walk into mini lux Wellesley and get your nails done within 9 hours this place is definitely NOT walk in welcome they are booked 24/7 so you will have to book you appointments about a week ahead if you don't want your appointments to be at 8:00 on a Sunday!the reception is reckless when booking and is not sorry when you have to leave the store because they got your order wrong. Even one time as was getting my eye brows waxed and the woman doing my eye brows ripped of part of my skin under my brow leaving a pain red mark and bruise that lasted for many days. Over all mini lux Wellesley is like eating gross food when your very hungry it starts off very good and you keep on eating it because your very hungrey and then realize it's gross food you were eating all along you just were Hungary so you didn't realize it. read more

MiniLuxe is a great facility and the staff is friendly, but the quality of the manicure was the worst I've ever had. I got regular polish rather than gel, and while I'm aware it shouldn't last as long, my manicure was chipping by the next day. I did nothing dramatic to chip them, and I never have this experience with any other manicures. Within a few days, 3 of my nails were lacking half of their polish, and within a week, 8 of my nails were severely chipped. Very disappointed by both the manicure and polish quality of MiniLuxe and will not be coming back. read more

Definitely very professional and more luxurious than other places but not a very quality manicure/pedicure. maybe it was because i used the 'luxe' nail polish instead of an OPI or Essie polish, but my manicure chipped terribly within DAYS. For my toenails, the polish stayed but a week later I found the skin around my big toe had become sensitive and discovered a very irritated area. I mentioned it to my friend who I got the pedicure with and found she had dealt with the same problem!! Apparently they rip off some pretty essential skin in their 'cleaning up' process.
