Not sure why all the reviews are so positive, because I had a very negative experience before even placing an order, specifically with Julian. I tried getting a quote from Julian on Sunday night for some custom postcards, prints, and color copies. I also asked over the phone the next morning. I'd printed these files with other printers before, so I thought I'd get a straightforward quote. I waited and waited all day after that phone call, and it wasn't until 3 minutes before closing that I got a quote with some OUTRAGEOUS prices (eg. $5 PER half sheet on standard size printer paper). I significantly reduced my order to avoid some of the egregious price gouging. I sent my files, which were the correct ratio for printing but in higher resolution to avoid quality loss, and asked for a new quote. This time I didn't even get a quote -- I told immediately that first I had to add bleed and trim marks myself, which I've never been asked to do by a printer before. I said the files I sent already accounted for bleed, and they said bluntly, "Your files are not ready to print and they are most definitely not set up with a bleed." They also called one of my inquiries "pointless." Rude!!! They then sent me screenshots of how to add the bleed / trim guides myself (on software I do not have), and added guidelines to one of my files as an example... which tells me they could DO know how to do it, but don't want to. TLDR: Slow quotes, rude/unprofessional employees. Just look elsewhere. Plenty of other printers are probably more capable when it comes to file handling, and would be happier to work with you to get the job done. read more

I had been using my preferred printing vendor for about a year, until I realized how expensive they were. It was unreasonable what they were charging, so I decided to shop around for another place that had decent prices and quick-responding staff. Minuteman Press was 1 of 10 options, and they came out on top! Wayne and Noah are incredibly helpful. They're quick at responding, whether email or phone calls. They do lots of custom work, and I especially appreciate their patience when I waltz right into their shop and start asking them questions about my future projects. The first project I asked for help with was foam core poster boards. I designed the files myself, and I just needed someone to print them. They gave me a very reasonable quote and a quick turnaround time. It was a no-brainer to accept their proposal. Within a few days, I picked up my posters and was in awe at the marvelous quality! The people here are amazing accommodating and very fast. The printer is great! I used these for my digital art prints (i know a lot about size scale/dpi and digital paintings) and they saved me lots of money as opposed to having things printed at an archival inkjet place which would have charged me way too much. I came in here to get my 30th birthday invitations made. I told Ken what I was looking for and emailed him a template. We had a brief discussion about my vision and he told me we would work together to find something I'd like FIVE HOURS LATER Ken emails me a blue print of an invitation and I love it. We email back and forth a few times making edits and boom, all my invitations were printed the next day. Yes, you read right-the next day! I am so happy with their work, their quality, their speed, and especially their price! I shopped around a bit and everywhere else wanted to charge me 70% more than Minuteman. I wish I could post the invitation here to show you all what a great job they did. All my friends have commented on how awesome my invites are. We had our invitations done with him and when we asked that he expedite them, he actually hand delivered them to our house at 9pm. He's great. Once again I had a great experience, this time working with Ken. OK, I admit it. My bosses can be really difficult when they want something done. Case in point, it took us over two months to finalize our proofs on business cards for everyone at our co., but it had to be done right. Of course, when they finally are ready to order, they need it right away and it's an emergency. Ken and Wayne were both very helpful, providing multiple proofs and taking initiative and following up with me. They were patient and consistent, which I really appreciate, since I am the middleman here. In addition to the cards, we also needed to print some nice flyers for a promotion we are doing. I was able to drop the files off in person at their office, where Ken spent a good half hour optimizing the image and getting it just right in Photoshop for me. He even printed a test page to make sure everything looked good. Not only did they look great, they also were done in about 36 hours. These guys are great! We showed up, unannounced, hoping to get a 2 x 3 ft poster printed. They were super swamped with some magazine/brochure looking orders so I was a bit worried that they wouldn't have time to work with us, but thankfully, their huge poster printer was free! They printed some sample slips of poster for us to check on the color, and worked with us to adjust until the shade of purple we wanted was just right :). We got our poster an hour later as the printer worked its magic. Great quality, super quick, and nice to work with even with last minute requests! Little tip! Make sure all your fonts are outlined (made into vectors instead of referencing a font file) in your ai file. read more

the folks at Minuteman are excellent professionals who understand good value and customer service. we went to Minuteman because we had to get wedding invitations printed, and the order we had was smaller than what i guess the usual order for invites might be. unlike a lot of the other printers around the area (and even in the East Bay!), Wayne and Ken at Minuteman were willing to do a sample press run to make sure the colors were right, go through a few revisions to ensure the sizing was correct, and otherwise went out of their way to make sure things were great. THAT is customer service! they also went out of their way to find the most economical means to print out our invites. we ended up spending much less than we originally budgeted for the invite printing. i definitely recommend the folks at Minuteman. they do great work and go the extra mile. read more

I begin using Minuteman Press on Commercial last year to have some business cards printed. I was very pleased and used them again about 4 months ago for the same project...again, an excellent job. What blew me away was the service they provided me for the Pride Brunch Silent Auction. As with most charity events, I was running late and they were able to provide a quick turnaround for my large print job. Not only were they able to turn around the project, but they advised me as to the best size for some posters I was printing. They suggested that I avoid going too large because the quality of the photos was not good enough to handle that size. So, instead of just giving me what I asked for (which would have been a disaster), they were looking out for my best interest for my print job. I can't recommend them highly enough.
