Came from the airport for a light breakfast! Construction made me drive around in circles so don't get discouraged if you're coming from out of town. Had 2 breakfast sammies, a large dirty chair, and a medium vanilla latte for ~$35 pre-tip. Food was good but eggs were a little hard, could use a little more salt. Drinks were pretty good and loved the lighting and ambiance. If I lived nearby, it would totally be a cute place to work on the afternoon. The two employees there were really nice and it was a refreshing experience!

Nice spot here in the Cortez Hill area for neighbors in the area, passerby, and visitors from anywhere. Staff recognize me and my partner and always make us feel welcome. I usually have a baked good--their paradise bar is my fav, but the honey bran muffin and vegan zucchini bread are also my go-tos--with one of their Signature decaf espresso drinks. I get a new drink nearly every time but find myself going for their honey lavender latte, cafe con miel, or whatever their seasonal special is. Personally haven't tried their boba drinks, but that's an option here for those who want it. My partner usually orders their breakfast bagels or sandwiches and / or protein smoothie and I've always heard praise from him regarding those. I've done remote work from here many times. Might not be best if you have a meeting planned in the workday, but if no talking is required then you'll be in a good spot. Plenty of seating available, nice lighting because of the large windows, and the plants inside are a very nice touch. There are outlets here, but they're not in all areas of the interior. There are two that I can think of to the right of the Ninth Avenue entrance.

This cafe was walking distance to our hotel, WorldMark. It is super cute inside, they have a great menu with a variety of great options for everyone the breakfast sandwiches were delicious! I tried the Loop which was a pesto cream cheese bagel with tomato's I've never had anything like it! The best part was my iced honey lavender latte. It was soooooo good!!! Most lavender flavors are a little overpowering but this one is so smooth and subtle. Even my husband really liked it and he HATES lavender lol. It almost tastes like a cereal milk latte. We wish we had a Mio + Tuo back at home in LA.

This place is cute and cozy. I went there in the morning around 8:30am and not many people there. I ordered white mocha and the service was a little bit slow. The white mocha was okay, didn't offer any sweetness option, it was a little bit sweet for me.

A bit underwhelming. I expected a bit more after reading the reviews online. I got a matcha latte and a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese. The matcha latte lacked depth and was bland. The bagel was a very ordinary bagel, nothing to write home about. Prices are comparable to other cafes in the area. The service was friendly but overall it's skippable for me.

Solid lunch spot in downtown san diego. Chicken panini is ok. Could have more chicken. Taro milk tea is good. Jasmine milk tea is also good. Can't go wrong with either of these. They have tables inside & wifi. Close too early though, 2pm.

Great to find a place that sells bagel sandwiches, nice and toasty and very affordable! It's almost like a hidden gem. I tried other local popular bagel places and they are always sold out before its' even 11AM. This place has sandwiches in croissant or bagels and they were not sold out before 11AM. However, that doesn't mean it's a bad thing! I ordered an everything bagel with two eggs, pork patty and cheddar cheese and it came out piping hot with my cheese melted just the way I like it. More importantly it was under $9 including tips! I've had similar sandwiches at Spill the Beans and it was easily over $15! It was clean and spacious inside, with a variety of seatings. I also appreciate the different plants throughout the shop.

This place I've lived above for a couples months now my first time trying I can say it was pretty good, service was fast and drinks came out even faster . The vibe of the coffee shop was cute too wasn't too busy was very clean and the fresh aroma of coffee!

The Little Owl downtown, a not well known location, but one to definitely discover when one has a chance. I had an Americano with whole milk. It was flavorful and quite good. It was a little easy on the milk, so it could of used more. They make breakfast and lunch sandwiches, not to mention a full menu of coffees and teas. They use Dark Horse Roaster's product for their coffees and espressos. For post Covid-19, it's good to know that they offer a good amount of inside seating for study groups and meetings. For now, they are certainly following the restriction set forth my the city and county for Covid-19. Service was welcoming and friendly. read more

Cute little coffee + boba shop in DT San Diego. Parking was convenient, it was on the side of the road with a parking meter. We had come here for their boba drinks, and I got a Jasmine Milk Tea. It is definitely not authentic, it honestly tasted drinkable, not enjoyable. Super disappointing tbhhh. They said their drinks were pre-made so I couldn't adjust the sugar level which kinda made me raise an eyebrow. Maybe they have better coffees but their boba was not it :(( the cafe was so cute and cozy too w/ lots of seating area, it was just so hard to like their drinks read more

Love, love, love this place! To start off, the staff here are awesome. I like to read here with my dog everyday and they are always so welcoming and friendly. Very cool, tasty and user friendly coffee shop in the Cortez Hill/East Village area. Easy in and out for a tasty (caffeinated or non caffeinated) start to the day and great for meeting friends or setting up shop alone, working remotely or chilling with some music, e-mail catch up, etc. Open layout, simple and tasteful decor are good for focus. Very pleasant and welcoming owner and staff! Closes at 2pm generally. read more

To the girl who left a review saying this was the best thai tea, BYE. This one was god awful and made with powder instead of boiled tea. There were clumped balls of powder at the bottom because the drink wasn't mixed thoroughly. One star for the thai tea. Can't speak on anything else because that was all I tried, but absolutely DO NOT ORDER THE THAI TEA. If you're looking for authentic Thai tea go to a Thai food place. I only tried this place because someone on here said it was "the best". read more

I feel very mixed about Mío + Tuo. The shop itself is very cute and the customer service is always impeccable. It's pretty pricey for a coffee shop for the food and drinks to be pretty mid. I think it'd be worth it if you're staying for awhile to utilize the space, but for something quick it's not where I typically spend my money. read more

Cute little place tucked on the corner of the Vantage Pointe Apartments. They use Dark Horse coffee and it has such a smooth taste. They also offer a few breakfast sandwiches and lunch ones as well. The pastries all look delicious and they have gluten free and vegan options as well. The only reason for 4 stars is the lemon loaf that a tried was a little bland and lacked the lemon flavor you expect to have w/ a lemon loaf and the egg and bacon croissants are good but nothing memorable. The lattes and teas however are delicious :) Place has a very warm and friendly feel and I highly recommend this place if you are in downtown and tired of the big chains like Starbucks. Definitely will be back when I come back to SD. read more

We had brunch nearby so we stopped into this new coffee and tea shop! I wanted a warm drink and they had plenty of options to choose from. I loved that they had milk teas and boba on the menu too. This shop definitely has an Asian influence with many of their drink options. I chose a hot taro milk tea to warm up. It was rich in flavor and super creamy with the oat milk. MIO+TUO = SPETTACOLARE! This delightful Coffee Shop located in downtown San Diego is definitely worth a visit (or two). Everything is served fresh and tasty. I had their Panini Delux sandwich which comes with roasted chicken, provolone, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ranch and mustard on pressed sourdough which is simply TDF (TO-DIE-FOR)!!! Complement that with either Taro and Matcha Boba (I had both because it was just so good) then add an Almond Danish made me scream BELLISSIMA!!! To quote Gen. The roasters they use is Dark Horse and for those that love Dark Horse they use as the house coffee the "best friend" blend! This place offers a great selection of coffee and food, unfortunately no vegan options. But they were super friendly and helped me find a location for food that is vegan friendly. The staff was all wearing masks and had on floor signage for the 6ft. read more

Super excited to have stumbled upon this place!!! We ordered a Sausage croissant $6.95, bacon croissant $7.25, a white mocha $5.25, and their seasonal white mocha with peppermint $5.15. All of it was delicious and reasonably priced for downtown. We live in the Rey so we usually go to Achilles, but Achilles is pricier and not as good so we're stoked about this place. We've been trying to find other options so we can't wait to come back! Definitely think this is the best easy grab and go breakfast in the area. read more

First of all, I love the vibe of the shop when you walk in. It's so warm and welcoming. The staff are all so considerate and kind. I was really hoping to like this new spot but unfortunately the sandwich I ordered was underwhelming. I ordered the TBA: Turkey, Bacon, Avocado, Pickle, Lettuce, Tomato, Ranch, Mustard on sourdough. For a $10 sandwich it came with MAYBE 3 small slices of Turkey, awkwardly cut tomatoes, chunks of lettuce, pickles, and smashed avocado. No ranch & no mustard found on the sandwich so it was fairly dry. The only positive takeaway was the sourdough tasted fresh and the service was quick and friendly but unfortunately I won't be coming back for a sandwich. read more

The people who work here are amazing. Every time I've came to visit here it's Been a 100/10 in service and food. I appreciate the interior of this coffee shop as well as the conversations. The muffin is perfectly warmed and sweet enough get that blueberry hinged sugar taste. And the pumpkin spice latte was creamy , fall tasting heaven. Amazing spot. It's a great hidden gem that I found recently. I'm in the area in the morning and I love stopping by to grab a cup of coffee. They are open at 7:30am so it's nice to get your caffeine in before work. My favorite coffee shop! The espresso is the best I've had(and I try a lot of coffee). The drinks are always consistent and delicious, as well as sandwiches. Baristas and owner are all so kind! Always willing to add any modifications I want. Very friendly and quick service, even when busy. The plants inside are so cute and add such a earthy and homey feel in the middle of downtown. Coffee is good, food is delicious, pastries are amazing, and the staff are kind. They serve Dark Horse coffee at this time and that name carries a good reputation in San Diego so you're getting good stuff here and for a great price. This place is slightly more expensive than Starbucks, as most coffee shops are, but you get better tasting coffee. Ultimately, it's a nice gem and they deserve more notice. read more

I live in the neighborhood and really enjoy coming to this coffee shop. Their drinks are super yummy and creative, you can tell that the barista makes them with care . I've also tried their delicious French macarons and their tasty sandwiches never disappoint! I would recommend their breakfast croissants, turkey pesto sandwich, and my son loved their BBQ chicken sandwich. Inside is spacious with plenty of seating to relax with your cup of coffee and laptop. I give it 4 out 5 stars because sometimes they can take quite a while to prepare your food, one morning I recall waiting over 20 minutes for my croissant sandwich to be ready. Also, I am never quite sure what to call this coffee shop since the name has changed several times over the last 2 years that I've lived in the area. Formerly known as "Tom Toms Cafe", then "Little Owl on 9th" and now I believe it is called "Mio + Tuo". Not a big deal, just a tad confusing. read more

I LOVE Mio + Tuo, I am a die hard oat milk fan and they are always so kind with any substitutions you ask for! The baristas are very nice and quick with orders! Also with the big windows for natural lighting and lots of plants it's a very Instagram worthy shot for breakfast. I've been a few times and it seems really comfy and quiet perfect for studying or working remotely. The sandwiches are amazing! My favorite is the bacon egg and cheese with avocado on an everything bagel, but the sausage egg and cheese on a croissant comes a close second :) read more

They offer $7 draft beers, $9 wine, $10 mimosas, plus a handful of bites for $9. We started with the Fried Calamari Tentacles from the US Hour menu. They're served with Japanese mayo, although it tasted like there was some citrus mixed in because it had a nice tangy kick. Whatever it was, it worked really well with the crispy calamari. To drink, I ordered the Yuzu Matcha Mimosa. It had a really vibrant green color that almost reminded me of green juice. I actually enjoyed it. The matcha flavor came through without getting lost. My friend wasn't the biggest fan because they thought it leaned a little too bitter, so I think this one depends on how much you already enjoy matcha. For my entree, I ordered the Duck and Waffles ($24), which comes with crispy duck confit, a waffle, passionfruit guava sauce, and chili crunch. This was easily the highlight of the meal. The duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned just enough to let the meat shine. I also appreciated that the chili crunch actually had some heat instead of just being there for texture. The waffle was light and fluffy. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combinations, so the powdered sugar paired with the rich duck was enough to win me over. The passionfruit guava sauce was the only part I wasn't completely sold on. It wasn't bad by any means. I just think it's one of those flavors that comes down to personal preference. This ended up being one of those meals that reminded me why I keep a running list of places I want to try. Great food. Great service. A fun happy hour that I accidentally stumbled into. The dessert display was really eye catching, and everything was arranged in a way that made you want to try a little of everything. It had a relaxed, casual vibe that works well whether you are just grabbing something to go or sitting down for a quick treat. I ordered the Napoleon for $7.99, although it was honestly hard to choose because all of the desserts looked so tempting and beautifully presented. That said, I personally was not a fan of their version of the Napoleon. I was expecting a more traditional take, but theirs had a caramel element I believe that changed the flavor profile quite a bit. It was not bad, just different from what I had in mind. Overall, I would still be open to coming back. The ambiance and presentation alone make it worth another visit, and I would love to try some of their other desserts next time.

A nice fresh meal with excellent coffee, beats a coffee and reheated snack from that other coffee chain.

It's street parking only, so can be challenging depending on when you come. I stopped in during the week, as I walked from the nearby Padres stadium. It wasn't very busy when I came in around 11:30, but after I ordered it really picked up. They do have a counter where you order the food, and also a bar that you can sit at that appears to have a pretty good selection of alcohol. There are a few tables to sit at. After I place my order I decided to sit at the table with the Ronald McDonald statue, because why not? I asked the very nice server about the menu, and she let me know what was popular and answered my questions. I decided to go with the muffaletta as it was on focaccia bread, which I really love. The sandwich was huge, and I definitely needed someone to share it with. They do cut it in half, so it is actually perfect for sharing or taking the other half home. It is filled with several different types of Italian Meats, including salami, sopressata, mortadella, some cheese and arugula and onions, and a sauce they use. I've never had a muffaletta before, so I can't speak to how authentic this is, but I can tell you it was a very good sandwich. I loved all of the flavors and the way they came together, and the fact that it was on focaccia bread just made it all the more perfect. Overall this is a very cute place to grab breakfast or lunch, I believe they are only open until 3:00 p.m.. The decor is very cute, with several different statues, disco ball, and a music area , and I think kids would love it as well as adults. I also enjoyed the food, and would like to try some of the other things on their menu as well. I could see myself going back if I'm in the area.
