It has been over a month since that appointment. I have now called four times and left messages with no reply. Needless to say, Mirabelle will not be baking my wedding cake. This restaurant is really nice. I had an egg white omelette with feta spinach and strawberries, which sounds strange and tasted delicious. My friend had a tuna sandwich, hot which she said was also good. For dessert I had a little lemon tart. The coffee was great and the service was excellent I will come back here again and I recommend it to other people. read more

What a surprise and what a delightful dining experience!! Mirabelle just started serving crepes--I savored every mouthful [unusual for me]. The crepe was crisp and light; it was filled with sauteed chicken, peppers, cheese and a delectible red sauce. Huge portions! Their menu is varied: sandwiches, salads, as well as a variety of entrees and breakfast is served all day . I couldn't resist the case of partries. Loving chocolate, I had the chocolate moose and had to bring half of it home [also unusual]. I HIGHLY recommend this find and look forward to returning. Fantastic food and service. read more

I went to this restaurant after reading a glowing review in the Sac Bee and I couldn't believe how rudely we were treated! A young employee behind the counter ignored us until we asked if we could order, then told us she would find someone to help us, even though she appeared to not be doing anything. We then waited over 10 minutes as others came and went from the kitchen, pointedly ignoring us, and as we finally walked out shaking our heads in disgust, an older women came out and yelled in another language @ several men in cook type clothing as they stood outside smoking. They obviously have no interest in or concern for potential (but no longer) customers. What a way (or not) to run a business! read more

I went to Mirabelle this afternoon to buy some pastries for the first time. It wasn't busy and there were a couple employees behind the counter doing nothing. There was an old man who was just standing around doing nothing, he saw me and I saw him, so I thought he's going to ask me if I needed help, but he said nothing. From the outside this place looks nice and classy. I expected good customer service, but when I went inside no one said "hello" and no smile. I tried their pastry but I don't think anything is special about it. To me, it's too sweet and over priced for the quality. Only one thing that I like about this place is that close to my house. lol But since I didn't get any good impression from this place, I don't think I'm going back there or I might try one more time and see how the service and different foods are. read more

Went to this wonderful cozy place for breakfast and we loved it so much we came back the very next day! I had the meat lovers crepe with a side of toast and raspberry jam it was yummy. The coffee is delicious and the staff were very warm and friendly . Why go to a crowded noisy place when there is a quiet charming table waiting for you at Mirabelle's? I live in San Diego but look forward to coming back to Mirabelle's next time im in town. First time visiting although have enjoyed treats from Mirabelle previously and LOVED! Place is quaint, service was spot on (Thank you AMAZING Courtney). Crepe & salad combo for $8.00 stuffed with seafood goodness was over the top enjoyable. Couldn't roll outta there without a sweet and the Creme Brule (sp) did NOT disappoint. I brought home their Hazelnut cake for hubs and he wow'd thru each bite till gone. All 'n all, a wonderful escape that I would recommend again and again. read more

I like this place and they have some good desserts but I went there at 3:45 pm on a Sunday and they refused to serve us anything but pastries, Normal restaurants serve and seat you up to closing, after inquiring about this they said "oh well we cut off the food at about 3:30" so I suggested they make some reference to that on their website or their sign which state their hours, they ignored me. read more

lovelovelove mirabelle! my family has been coming here ever since it opened, its the first place in a looong time to occupy that building and LAST! We don't eat here much but for all birthdays it is the go to place for a cake and a baker's dozen of their desserts. The dozen is a good idea because it isn't terribly expensive and we cut most of them in half and turn it into a fun lil game of "what to try, what to try?" My favorite cake of all time is the tiramisu and we are always pleased with it. read more

This place was not at all European. Not sure why they call it that. I am not sure any one there has ever even been to Europe, including the owners. There are so many reasons why I want to give zero stars. The only saving grace about the terrible experience here is the nice waitress, and that they comped our dessert. Basically, we came in about noon thinking we would try this place out. I guess it was a little late for breakfast but I ordered the Benedict. The waitress came back and told me about 20 minutes later they were out of potatoes, and to see if I wanted potato salad instead. I would have liked to have known they were out of a key ingredient ahead of time. 10 minutes later, the waitress came back again to let us know that they were out of cheese for the omelet my friend ordered. They asked if they could sub in brie which really was the worst idea ever. So you're probably thinking, wait it took 30 minutes for them just to figure these details about our order out? Yes, that is correct. Despite being one of two tables seated, the other only drinking wine, the level of service was terrible. When our food finally did arrive it was luke warm at best. By the time I got a few bites in my food was completely cold. I dont blame the waitress, I assume she wasn't notified in time, and obviously didn't prepare the food, and she did try to apologize several times. It was a terrible experience. Save your money, between waiting for nearly 45 minutes only to get what we did not order, and the low quality of the food- this place is not worth it. read more

Six months ago I would have agreed with the two star reviews for Mirabelle Cafe and I might have even them a minus one star -- we sat at a table for twenty minute without any acknowledgement from the five employees lingering behind the counter so we finally walked out. Yesterday we thought to give them a try again and we were happily surprised. As we walked through the door we were greeted , seated and attended too immediately and this attentiveness continued all throughout our meal. I was so happy with my experience that I stopped the owner who was also helping in the dining room and complimented his staff. Come to find out , Mirabelle Cafe has a new owner named Phillip , a charming man whose mission is to give his customers a good experience in his cafe. This was the worst place ever. I took my family here that was out of town they were disappointed. The Manager was of no help. We got cold coffee and when asked for new cup to be made that was fresh she told us it was to late and didn't want to do that. The service was terrible the line was out the door and no one to help. I tried going back to see if it had changed But the same bad service and yet again cold coffee! I would never recommend this to anyone. read more

What happened to Mirabelle's? When we first discovered Mirabelle's European Bakery and Cafe about 10 years ago, we were thrilled. This was a very classy, beautiful cafe and bakery. There were white tablecloths, many varieties of fresh baked bread, a very large selection of wine tastefully displayed on shelving behind the sparkling glass display cases that were filled with delicate pastries, everything from tiny melt in your mouth apricot and raspberry tarts, eclairs, napoleons, zabagliones, delicate cookies, to the most delicious beautiful cakes of every kind imaginable. The menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner was just as impressive. There were omelettes, savory crepes, dessert crepes, pasta dishes, and so much more all made with your selection of many different cheeses, and fresh vegetables. You could even sit outside at bistro tables surrounded by vines and flowers. It was very elegant, so relaxing and delicious, but hard to get a table as it was usually full. We had family celebration dinners here, romantic date nights, girl lunches, and always chose it for after graduation brunch with all of our out of town family. Then about a year and a half ago we took out of town friends there for lunch and were so disappointed. Two large flat screen TVs had been set in the middle of the wine shelves (on and advertising the cafe). The display cases were not even half full, many of the mouthwatering pastries were no longer available, there was no fresh baked loaves of bread, but the menu looked familiar, so we ordered. The staff were wonderful and looked the same, but the atmosphere was different. The restaurant was nearly empty. I ordered a crepe with chicken, mushroom and gruyere cheese. I had always loved the food here, but this time I could not even find the cheese, it was so sparse. It seemed like they had the same great chefs, but were trying to save money by using less of the more costly ingredients. I found out later that the cafe had been sold to a new owner. The next time I tried to meet a friend there for lunch, but when we pulled up we found the cafe was now closed on Mondays. Why? Don't people eat on Mondays? The next time my friend called me, after I was seated, to say she had to work through lunch, so I dined alone. As I was sitting there a man who either the manager or owner sat down at my table and well....made me very uncomfortable...as he seemed to be looking for a date. We no longer eat there! A few months ago I noticed what looked like stacked furniture in the parking lot in front of the cafe as I drove by. I though perhaps they were putting in a new floor or doing deep cleaning, but it turned out to be ugly little tables with canapies that roll. Very carnival like, I guess you are supposed to ride the table while you eat. We did wonder why they put in more seating when the tables they did have were never full. I could not imagine anyone wanting to sit in the parking lot so close to a busy street. It is not a picturesque block. I did, however still stop by to buy a cake for my husband's birthday recently. It looked incredible, and was expensive, but I remembered how the cakes there used to melt in my mouth and did not mind the expense. I do not know what they are using for ingredients, but it tasted like stuff from a can. The raspberry whipped cream style filling was so gross tasting (and had soaked the bottom cake layer) that no one could eat it. The shaved white chocolate tasted like wax. Maybe it wasn't really white chocolate, but a food substitute. Anyway this is the first time the rest of a cake has sat in the fridge for 2 days. I guess even the kids don't want it. I will toss it tomorrow. I am so sad. This was the nicest place before it was sold. I am looking for a restaurant like the old Mirabelle's. Does anyone have a suggestion read more

If you have time to wait an hour for your food, it's a great place. Because the food is good, we've been there 3 times, each time thinking things would be better. This past time, we found a table outside quickly, as most were empty. The server took 30 minutes to get our drinks and we waited another 45 for our food. No apologies, no reasons... just very bad, very slow service. We didn't get refills on water, tea, coffee, because she never came back after we finally got our food. Very poor management. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places. As a vegetarian I always enjoyed the wonderful veggie burger and french fries. A couple of years back things changed and the price of the same burger went up to $15. and the quality of it hit bottom. I vowed not to return but a friend from Colorado wanted to try it and could not be dissuaded. So four of us headed there. They have one good waitress and one young guy who must be comatose. After eating and waiting for our change the guy came over and asked us if we were ready to order. He had been there all along and the table was full of our plates. He did not look mentality challenged but 'hell-o'. Also my one friend had soup and asked for bread with it. The store bought loaf type of bread showed up on a plate, one slice,toasted and not buttered or accompanied by butter. The charge for this 25 cent piece of bread was $3.75. When questioned the waitress told my friend the price was correct but she looked embarrassed. So my overall review is 'stay far away' from this once wonderful and now awful place. If you want a tasty veggie sandwich go to the Sunflower or the Old Fair Oaks Deli. What Mirabelle offers cannot compare to the long time quality of these two local and fun places. In fact if Mirabelle stays open it will be miraculous. read more

Mirabelle is like finding a jewel in the desert! I discovered this place after driving past it a few times until I realized it was a restaurant. I went it for lunch and ordered a roasted turkey sandwich and a salad. My meal was delicious. They have a bakery filled with the most beautiful pastries and cakes so I ordered some pastries to go to take to a dinner later that evening. The pastries were a hit! I've been back to eat outside on the gliding benches and the meal never disappoints! I highly recommend the food, coffees and deserts! read more

An old Fair Oaks institution. I believe they have new management and I think it improved the service. They have limited food service hours, but the outdoor seating is dog-friendly and me and my best friend get served and treated well out there. The food is very good, if a little limited menu. The service here is atrocious. They're grossly understaffed and the staff they do have are awful with their customer service skills. The foods OK...I have eaten here before when I was the only one in the restaurant and the service then wasn't great either. Tried to come in on Sunday brunch/lunch time and they were about 30% full. Didn't get greeted when we came in. Was told to sit down and they would bring the menus to us. Sat for about 5 mins then got up and asked for menus at the front counter. Returned to my seat and waited for about 15 more mins as the waitress continued to walk past our table not acknowledging us once. No drinks no silverware. This place has cool pastries but the employees all need to be retrained or fired and they could use a few more people on staff. This place has to be a front for something else for it to have survived as long as it has with service this awful. I will never go here again. read more

I used this place for my wedding cake last month. I had never been there prior to the wedding and I can say that I will never return based on the horrific customer service I received. These people are rude and obviously don't care about their customers. They were very discourteous and condescending from the first appointment, did not return phone calls for days at a time, did not show for appointments, ignored us when entering the bakery and were over 30 minutes late delivering the cake to the venue. The cake was good, but there are a lot of good bakeries in the Sacramento area. It wasn't worth the stress and hassle dealing with them. read more

I ordered a birthday fruit basket cake for my 9 yearS old boy two days ago with specific instruction about the decoration. I asked them to have a Popeye figure on a rectangular 1/2 sheet. I went there today to pick up the cake. The waitress gave me a round cake with real Spinach leaves around it with a very messy drawing of what was to be Popeye the sailor man. Brought the cake home. The most horrible cake one can imagine. It had soggy super wet bottom. The liquid was actually dripping from the cake. The sponge cake was so old that you hardly could eat it without throwing up. Overall, it was a disaster. They ruined our party. Took the cake back and got refunded. This was the second time. Previously they gave us a frozen cake. I was introduced to Mirabelle a month ago and I have visited several times since then. I love the ambiance with the European pastries, cherry wood wine displays, coffee machines, white tables, tile floors, clean bathrooms and the like. It definitely adds to the fun and makes you want to indulge. The food is delicious no matter what I have ordered and reasonably price to boot. I usually tap into one of the daily specials. I have enjoyed meeting the servers and telling them how wonderful it is to have a place to go like Mirabelle in a town that lacks such delicacies. I highly recommend it and take your time when you get there. No need to rush. read more

I've been to Mirabelle a number of times for breakfast and lunch. Each time the service is terrific and the food delightful. One time the power went out just as we began to order. They still allowed us to order salads, even though there was no electricity. When it was time to pay the bill, they told us it was on the house because of the power. I've enjoyed Mirabelle in the past for lunch and dinner. I always went at off peak times, so the service was fast and good. The food was healthy and delicious. My husband and I decided to try Mirabelle for brunch on the weekend. We loved the ambiance and the classic crooner music. The manager helped us right away and was very warm. Our waitress was extremely cheerful and professional. The place was extremely busy and crowded, so the service was much slower than the other times I had been there. I wouldn't recommend going there at a busy time if you have to be somewhere afterwards. But we had a very wonderful, leisurely brunch. I loved the vegetable quiche and my husband said the Hollandaise sauce on his was incredible. We will definitely go back soon. read more

I love Mirabelle's Cafe for brunch. They serve fantastic breakfast food including incredible crepes. They have everything you could ever want in for brunch. It's a step up from the chain restaurant brunches around town. Service is a little slow. But this is a fun place to go on a weekend morning for a languid brunch with friends or loved ones. Their pastries are incredible. You can get all kinds of beautifully designed desserts and they make spectacular cakes. read more

One word describes this place OVERRATED, the decor is nice and the food is presented nicely, but there is little to no organization at this establishment, You walk in a no one greets you or seats you, eventually after waiting you seat yourself, which they should just have a "please seat yourself" sign which would eliminate much of the confusion, then once yours seated the service takes forever. The servers neglect the tables and when they do finally reach you, it is clear they have little to no training and experience when it comes to customer service. I really think they should rethink there whole dynamic with this restaurant become more organized and it would be so much better, because the food is not bad at all, just terrible service. read more

Having been there several times under the previous ownership, decided to try out the new after reading the Bee review. What a disappointment! Went for lunch with my daughter and 8 year old grandson thinking surely they could make a grilled cheese for him. While we looked at the menu, they asked for our drink order - only asked for lemonade for the grandson, which turned out to be a bit unusual for them, When they did come with a glass of lemonade, it was apparently a big deal. Noticed that the pricing had gone up considerably ($13 for a vegeburger - really??), but the real kicker was that they could not produce a grilled cheese for the grandson, even tho they had grilled sandwiches, with cheese, on the menu! We decided it was not the place for our lunch, and asked how much for the lemonade - $3, and they had a difficult time finding the change for a $5 bill. We left, went to LaBou and had a great lunch for the three of us (including a delicious grilled cheese with drink and cookie for the grandson for $4!) for a total of $20. Sorry to say, we will not be back under the new ownership - and they had no desserts out to try!! read more

I really want to love this place because it has great potential. I love the outdoor seating area, food ( when it finally gets to your table, preferably hot), and the yummy desserts. I had eaten here twice before with my family and both times they seemed understaffed, but I thought they might have worked this out when we decided to go for breakfast this past Mother's Day. They were busy, and really understaffed. It took almost an hour to get our food, and when it did come, it was barely warm. I ordered the "Lemon Berry Pancakes" that were priced at $13. What arrived was three medium sized slightly warm pancakes with a little dish that held about 2 tablespoons of lemon curd, and ONE strawberry on top. The food my family ordered was also just warm, and the potatoes cold. I think they are way overpriced, and need better management. I will not give this place another chance, sadly. read more

A very nice place to dine, with a wonderful quaint location and such nice people. We didn't realize where to go either when we first walked in, but it's a family run business, so we just went to the cash register and someone sat us right away. The food is very good, wide choices to enjoy. The wait staff were more than pleasant. They were very nice and attentive even though they were a little short that day. Perfect? No, but pretty darn close. We are looking forward to returning with our friends for dinner. After the rudeness at Plan B, we were very happy to find a new local restaurant for us to enjoy.
