Prime rib was surprisingly tough, definitely not what I expect here, especially at $44. We dine at Ike's often and almost everything is consistently excellent, and the service is always top-notch. Happy hour can be a great value as well. They offer smoked prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights, and this was my first time trying it, unfortunately, it missed the mark. The medium-rare temperature was perfect, but overall I wouldn't recommend it at that price. That said, I've had nearly everything else on the menu and it's been outstanding. We had an early dinner during happy hour at Ike's and their HH menu is extensive! We were seated in the bar room area which is very close quarters, but I never felt uncomfortable. It has more of a dark and cozy vibe. We had a variety of happy hour snacks and the Guacamole was by far the best item. The wings had a good coating of sauce and a significant side of ranch. I wouldn't recommend the spinach artichoke dip, but we did have to sub the bread for tortilla chips as a GF option. The perfect little spot for a nightcap and dessert! We stopped here after dinner down the road in Excelsior and I'm so glad we found this little gem. Best part - they have Sebastian Joe's Ice Cream! Live near here but has only visited once and now I'm feeling like I've missed out on a great happy hour spot. We swung in Friday at 4PM and it was busy but thankfully not too busy to grab a table for 3 without a reservation. The service was very friendly and prompt. Love the dark yet vibrant old school steakhouse vibe of the place. Their happy hour menu is extensive. There are 5ish flatbreads and a dozen other options from Guacamole to cheese curds to wings and pickle Fries. We tried the Brussels sports (really good flavor but needed to be cooked a little longer), deviled eggs (loved these but note that they're spicy!), and our new favorite spinach and artichoke dip with their chips. This is the best S&A dip I've ever had. So delicious! And I recommend getting with the chips as opposed to the flatbread. Enjoyed the flatbread during happy hour for $9 and it was hot, hearty and the base (dough) reminded me of lavash with its thin crispiness. I'm not happy with my experience at Ike's. To put it plainly the food was not good. Everything lacked seasoning and most especially salt. I was most offended at the ribeye steak plate. It was 46$ but it was a thin cut steak. A clear rip off. It was FLAVORLESS. All I tasted was charr. I broke down and ordered the Bernaise sauce but the waiter forgot it and she took forever to make the rounds. When it did come my steak was ice cold. So upsetting but the waitress was obviously not able to keep up for some reason and never checked back in to ask if I even like the food. It was so bad. Steak isn't meant to be slathered in steak sauce when the price is 46$. I ordered mid well and if I had known I was getting a thin cut ribeye I would have done mid rare. It was like eating shoe leather. I couldn't send it back because our waiter was slower than molasses. There was not even 5 tables occupied this 4th of July. Busy wasn't a factor in this case she just wasn't good. Nice but not efficient at all. Our table spent 350$ before tip and I can say it was the worst money spent. The kitchen needs to step op their game and the chef needs to reevaluate his design and execution. Both were severely lacking. I do not need to season every single piece of my food. Please Ike's do better for the ones who do have taste buds. You have so much potential. read more

The salad was large with huge chunks of fried avacado, very tasty and filling! The special sandwich of the day was a Cuban with pork, ham, bacon, cheese and pickles on a hoagie roll. It was tasty and huge, half came home with me in a box. To wrap up we took home a generous slice of carrot cake. It was fabulous, and didn't exist long enough to be photographed! It's a comfy place with booths, tall tables, and bar seating. Finding the place is a bit of a challenge, but the turn is off 101 and use google maps... Parking is easy with spots in the front and back. Service is great at a very comfortable pace, carrying on a comfortable conversation without shouting. It was my wife's birthday and she wanted to dine at Ike's Minnetonka. We had dined there last fall and had a wonderful experience. Tonight was good, but not the experience we had last fall. Two things were different. First, when we intered the restaurant we were greeted by two expressionless hostesses. Not a welcoming smile or any other greeting except "Can I help you." When she found our reservation she said "Follow me" and led us to our table. She plopped the menus down and then she was gone. That experience was very underwhelming. Secondly, our waiter Greg was cordial only to the extent that I believe that he felt he had to be. Went to Ike's last night for HH and thoroughly enjoyed out dinner with friends. From the moment we arrived to our departure the service was excellent, timely and attentive. I like the open kitchen view and the service seems to be always friendly. I think the prices are reasonable and comparable to places like the Olive Garden, Chilis or Fridays. Outstanding all around. We had a 7:30 reservation Friday night and it's a good thing we did, the restaurant was full! On arrival the hostess gave us an option for seating due to the previous guest declining the high top in the bar versus a 2 top table in the main dining area. I thought that to be a nice touch as opposed to just seating us at their convenience. The location at the bar was perfect and I appreciated that it was not loud in the bar area. Our server greeted us promptly, he was attentive but not overwhelming and we did not feel hurried as we ordered our drinks, appetizer and then main meal. My Martini came with a nice surprise - it comes with an additional pour, saved in an iced glass vase. As my drink became low I simply refreshed it. Our appetizer was the crab cake, one good sized cake to share, that was flavorful and light. My main meal was the shrimp and crab fettuccine, our server pointed out that they use real crab which shreds and mixes into the dish, so there may not be chunks of crab meat to find. This was not an issue since there was so much flavor and still about 6 -8 large shrimp in the dish. Highly recommended! My husband chose the hickory smoked king cut prime rib. Our observant server walked by just as the kitchen runner was serving us, and stopped as he noticed that the prime rib "looked a little thin" so he (on his own accord) returned it to the kitchen and came right back with a king cut that weighed out correctly. Now that's service! The prime was delicious with the hickory. No desserts for us this time, we'll save that for our next visit. read more

Stopped by Ike's for a committee meeting on a Thursday around 4pm. Our group of 6 was seated without a wait in an interesting U shaped booth. The location is definitely a dive-like bar but there's nothing wrong with that- we selected the location as it was close to an event we attended later in the evening. Anyway, our server was nice and took our drink order while we waited for two more people. They have a happy hour until 6 with quite a few options. The other two people arrived about ten minutes later and their drink order was filled. It is now about 4:30 and our server dropped off the drinks but did not ask us for our orders, and we had to head out before 5pm. We tried to flag him down around 4:40 to get our orders. The good side: all of our orders were filled immediately and we got our food about 10 minutes later. The strange part was that the guacamole really IS made to order. They bring a bowl to your table and mash up the avocados and tomatoes right in front of you. It was a little bizarre but fresh as heck. I asked for the check right away as we had to leave but the food, from what my partners said, was quite good. In total, we ordered a side salad, appetizer pretzels, a bacon cheeseburger, chips & guacamole and two beers and totaled $58. I wouldn't go back for a meeting but it wasn't terrible. The lighting was very dark, especially because it was winter so the sun had set and when the door opened to let people in, the wind traveled all the way to the back and was quite cold. First time here with my son. We volunteered playing baseball with Miracle League at Bennett Park and I researched yesterday and their menu seemed cool. Sat at a booth in bar area. Ordered Ahi Tuna Sandwich with coleslaw and homemade handcut fries. The sandwich had pickled ginger, lettuce, tomato and Wasabi mayo. The bun was bigger than tuna portion, so peeled some off. Coleslaw was basic with just mayo. Fries were fresh and hand cut. The water was in a glass bottle with stopper and warm. Needed to ask for ice. My son ordered Italian Hot Hoagie. I needed to explain what salami and Genoa ham was. I had a bite and knew it was gonna be salty and it was. We had a vanilla shake for dessert. Today my girlfriend and I had lunch at Ike's to celebrate our February birthdays. Our server was Floyd and he went above and beyond for us. He was attentive, answered our questions and made recommendations. We had mentioned to him at the start of the meal that we were both celebrating our birthdays. Imagine our surprise when he walked out, after clearing our table, with two ice cream sundaes, complete with candles, whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauce and maraschino cherries!? Pure delight! The food we ordered was delicious too. I ordered the calamari, which was crispy and tender. The portion wasn't huge but it tasted so good, it was worth it. My girlfriend had the SW Fried Avocado Salad. The salad was huge and had four avocado halves, battered and lightly fried. It was so large, she couldn't finish it and took the leftovers home.
