The chicharrones de pollo is literally chicken thats chopped up and deep fried, and it was delicious with the mayoketchup sauce. the pickled red onions gave the dish overall some nice acidity as well. Very worthwhile as our first 'street eats' experience in PR.

I know nothing about the scene in San Jose, but I'm betting it's the only biker rock and roll bar in the city, maybe even the only rock bar. But don't be intimidated by being a biker bar in a dark, warehouse area by the docks, it is a very friendly, chill place, where everyone seems to know each other and party together. Heavy metal seems to the main genre here, but one band was an 80s 90s pop cover band. I enjoyed 2 meals from the little but good quality kitchen, including the Papa's Loco, good bar food. I also splurged on the steak sandwich, it was good, but I'd probably just stick to a hamburger next time.

The bar has a classic mid century club vibe with all the energy you could ask for. We booked a table for two using Open Table, and it worked perfectly. We had a great view of the stage and the musicians while we enjoyed our cocktails and appetizers. Our waitress was very attentive, even though she was handling the entire bar seating area. The music and the overall experience were so good that we went back a second time at the end of our trip. If you want a classic Latin music experience in a traditional and upscale setting, look no further than Chico Cabaret. It was one of the biggest highlights of our trip. The next time we are in town, we will definitely be returning for more great music in an energetic setting.

It was like eating pork but tasting Cinnamon Toast Crunch and as said before, it tasted great but too sweet for me. This one was way too sweet to where it seemed like a dessert item. I just had poor luck and got one of the one items that were sweet. This doesn't tank the rating down whatsoever because I also should've read it had cinnamon. It would've been great if they made a dipping sauce or something to pair it with and not have it on the pork belly itself. It was locked, so we along with two other couples, walked to see if there was a side entrance.. Nope! We kept walking to the rear and stopped a random parking lot attendant that shirt had a different restaurant's name on it. He asked us if we had reservations for Santaella and we said yes, and he directed us to a rear entrance. Once inside, my friend realized this was NOT Santaellas but a rooftop restaurant with an entirely different name. Visibly perturbed, she asked our server QUESTIONS! He said, it's the same restaurant, however, only the rooftop is open on Sundays and it's named Azotea.. WHAT?!? LOL! Because we took an Uber, we decided to stay a while. The menu was extremely limited, but we decided to try the Tamarind margaritas, which were really good, along with two appetizers, the tuna lollipops and the pulled pork quesadilla. Both VERY good, but the dinner menu was lacking. That said, I suggested we go to STK for the seafood tower that I had my eye on the evening before, so we exited stage right! Shame on Santaella for accepting reservations through Open Table knowing full well they are not open. I'm giving them two stars because Azotea was decent but it definitely wasn't what she was going for!

The food was extremely fresh and flavorful -- I wish we had time to go back. Service was amazing -- we were the only ones there for a bit and they gave us our space but checked on us consistently. They also happily stored our luggage in one of the corners (we were very grateful) so we could eat in peace.

They recommended so many amazing places to eat and shop, in and out of the property. The prices for food on the property were reasonable and there were a lot of different options for food choices. The big Concha restaurant on the property is absolutely gorgeous at night but it is a bit pricier than the other food options on the property. There are 4 pool ameneties you can choose from, with one being adults only. I loved that you have the different pool options. However, I wish the pools were bigger. I felt like it made more sense to have fewer pools but, bigger to fit more people but, we were comfortable in each. The beach is beautiful and every day there were plenty of surfers riding the high tide waves. It wasn't the best beach for swimming since the tide was so high and waves were really strong but, lifeguards are on the property to help those who have trouble getting in and out. We stayed close to shore to prevent any accidents and enjoyed watching surfers ride the waves each day.

We booked an "ocean view" room, which was really more of a nice 45-degree angle looking down the length of the beach. Still enjoyable, just something to keep in mind when booking. Some reviews mentioned dirty rooms, but our experience on the 8th floor was the complete opposite. Our room was spotless when we arrived, and housekeeping returned it to that same condition every day. Honestly, it was probably the best housekeeping service I can remember at a hotel. On the other hand, we had the same A/C issues others have mentioned. The room simply wouldn't get cool enough the first two nights, but the engineering team fixed it when we finally inquired. The room itself worked really well for a family. The pullout sofa was surprisingly nice, the shower was very spacious, having the toilet behind its own separate door made getting everyone ready much easier, and the room key is a wristband, so it's easy to keep with you all the time. Unlike some of the other places we visited, it's also removable if you'd rather not wear it. The only other area I'd mention that could be improved is the front desk and concierge. There were a few times they seemed unmanned when we walked through the lobby, and while everyone was friendly, we didn't get the sense they had enough firsthand knowledge of the area to tailor recommendations to different interests, ages, or travel styles. The hotel definitely has a nightlife vibe. Every evening the lobby filled with people heading out in club attire, and the casino is a nice little bonus if that's your thing. The lobby itself is large, clean, and often had a good balance of customers being served and available space for others. The pools were nice, though I'd like to see the third pool reopened before maybe considering it a four-star stay. The beach is pleasant, with plenty of room to relax in the sun, but be warned that the hotel advises against swimming, and multiple locals elsewhere told us the same thing because of the currents. Plenty of people were wading well out or swimming close to shore, but I'd be nervous if I had kids venturing out very far or swimming alone. If swimming is your goal, there are safer beaches just a short Uber, taxi ride, or even a reasonable walk away. (I think the closest one recommended to us was about a half mile to the west.) The location is another big plus. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, Old San Juan is just a quick Uber away, and the sushi bar in the hotel was surprisingly affordable and much better than I expected for hotel sushi. Overall, I'd probably stay here again if visiting that area. It has a great location, comfortable rooms, excellent housekeeping, and enough amenities to keep most people happy. Just go in expecting a lively atmosphere, and hopefully get a room with an A/C unit that's already behaving itself.
