I got my hair done by mary and i had the worst layers. it was one layer and was 3 inches higher than the rest of my hair. she cuts it horizontal, I've had my hair done at other places and they will cut up and down and it looks much better. after 30 minutes of having my hair blow-dried it started to shape my face and go in, and I don't have a bob. I asked her for a tiny trim and she cut off almost 2 inches. I'm not very happy about it. but the shampoo was nice. read more

My hairstylist is Brooke and i love her work. She does great highlights, color, and is always consistent. They serve beverages such as coffee, soda, and even wine! They have a tiny parking lot located in the back but they share it with their neighbor so there are only 2-3 spaces available if that. You're better off parking on the street, and even though it's 75 min. parking I have yet to see the meter maid come by when I've gotten my hair done. They also have a small nail salon located in the back that offers manicures/pedicures. If you have hair that gets tangled easy then I highly recommend purchasing the Unite 7 second hair detangler! I swear by this stuff and it smells heavenly. It really does work in 7 seconds to get those tangles out and saves your hair from breaking off. I will continue coming to this salon as long as Brooke continues to work here! She is the best and sweetest hair stylist. read more

Even though the salon was supposed to be closed on Sunday, Andrea opened the salon for myself and my bridal party. Even though I wasn't the best at communicating how I wanted my hair to look on my wedding day, Andrea did an amazing job on my hair. I've been going to this salon for years! I am loyal to Jenna- she is a master! I'm always so satisfied with my haircuts and feel like a princess when I leave. The salon itself is gorgeous and the front desk receptionists are always so friendly. Parking can be tricky, but I usually go into a nearby neighborhood. The available hours are great. I've been going to Mishay for several years. My normal stylist is Jenna (who is amazing by the way!) so naturally I decided to go with Mishay for my wedding day. My hair was by Brooke along with one of my MOH's. My other MOH and bridesmaid saw Thi. My daughters (Jr bridesmaid and flower girl) saw Eefje. My mom saw Tracie. Covid time has also tested out hairstylists' talent. I was happy to have my hair cut again by Thi. A proof for her talent is that my hair is still in a very good shape after more than three months. I didn't know until the haircut service was locked down due to Covid in CA. I was surprised and of course amazed to find out. I had been going to the same hairdresser for about 18 years, but my beautiful amazingly talented friend Danielle works here and I think when your friend works in any type of service industry it's important to support them in their work. I had been wanting to go very bright red, Little Mermaid red for a while and my hairdresser wouldn't go anywhere near that bright. Not only did Danielle get the exact color I wanted without bleaching my burgundy hair, but she was excited to do it and the atmosphere in the salon was great as well. It's small and well decorated, gold accents which I love, everyone is so sweet and friendly. Danielle cut, styles, colors like someone who has been doing hair for 20 years. She makes you feel like a goddess when you leave, I really recommend her and not just for crazy bright colors, she's a wonderful stylist and a genuinely kind human being :) read more

If only ZERO stars were a possibility!!! BRIDAL TRIAL NIGHTMARE I went yesterday morning for my bridal makeup trial with Thi (pronounced Tee). I live in LA and we drove up for this experience! My appointment was at 10 am and I received a call the night before confirming. I arrived on time and was told that she was running late. There was a woman getting her color put in by Thi. So, right off the bat I am thinking to myself that it seems that I am being "squeezed in" and for the $80 that they quoted me for the trial, I was not excited. This was only the beginning! When Thi came over she didn't even smile, said hello and took me to her station. At this point my mom went to wait in the car because their couches are so low they may as well be bean bags and she has a bad knee. No one offered an alternative place for her to sit when we stated this was why. Once at Thi's station, she told me to not let my mom go because she's not doing my make up today because she has NO MAKEUP!!!! I asked why no one bothered to call me and tell me this, ESPECIALLY knowing that I was DRIVING UP FROM LA! She had no answer and never even apologized! She said her husband was getting her makeup and she could fit me in in a few hours. I said NO and walked out! If they are this inconsiderate and unprofessional who knows if they would even show up to my wedding! I was completely shocked. If not for not wanting to ruin the experiences of the others at the salon, I would have completely lost my shiz! SO rude!!! read more

I hate going to places, paying hard-earned money, and then not getting treated well. I was a walk-in to Mishay, having only depended upon what these girls previous to me have experienced, and I was so happy. I've never been to a place like this before... the girls in the hair salon are beautiful, sure, but they're also business women who know how to treat a customer. I brought a picture in and Angel did EXACTLY what I asked for--she even styled it beautifully. Such a friendly group of gals-- (though, the lady who was running the pedicure area needs to lighten up. I asked if they were doing pedicures and she gave me a "P'Sha!" look before saying, "Uh, we're booked at least two weeks in advance.") --they work as a team, offer you water or cappuccino or coffee, and they want you to be happy with your hair. I'm a student so $45 is a little pricey, but I'm picky about my bangs and always feel nervous when getting a haircut. Angel worked on my hair and she was super sweet and did a great job. I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and I was in Santa Barbara for my sisters wedding (she lives in town). My family and friends had appointments for our hair to be styled/up-do for the wedding. Pros: Mishay was able to accomodate all of us (7) from approx 10:30am to 1pm (although they forgot one of us on their schedule). The place is clean, the stylists and receptionist are nice. The outdoor patio has a nice waiting area. Cons: The parking is bad - boarderline impossible to park in their lot. It's hard to turn around if your car is bigger than a small car. Park down the street, and dont drive a truck. My stylist (I am not mentioning her name) was polite, clearly had talent with hair, but didn't listen to what I wanted. I have long curly hair. I requested an "up-do" with loose curls, which is easy to do with my hair. I showed her a picture from their website of an "up-do" that I liked. She parted my hair down the middle, combed it out, straightend it, curled the ends with a curling iron and tucked it back in a bun. She left a few pieces of hair for bangs (which she was going to flat iron and I said no). It was nothing like I requested. All my curls were straightened out and my hair was flat on my head. It was also $65 which is way too expensive. It should have been $35. I didn't even make it 3 miles back to the place I was staying at before it started coming out. I ended up taking it out 30 minutes later. It was very upsetting, and my sister was very un-happy that my hair looked so bad. I had to wet it down and try to do something with it an hour before the wedding. I would be hesitant to try this place again. read more

I treated myself to my first facial, ever, for my birthday weekend in Santa Barbara. I am wracking my brain trying to remember the name of the person who did my facial, but whoever she was, it was great! The room was serene and quiet, and I was able to fully relax while things were put on and taken off of my face. The facial also involved a lot of neck and scalp massage, as well as my hands. It was heaven. She also waxed and shaped my eyebrows (an extra service I requested), and did an amazing job. She even asked me afterwards to step outside into the natural sunlight so she could ensure they were even and didn't need any extra work. I feel like she took her time and cared. I'm sure if anyone there reads this, they can figure out who it was - sorry for not giving her proper recognition! read more

It seemed with every visit my hair was getting no where closer to the blonde I was working towards. So eventually I took things into my own hands and took my own route, needless to say I FINALLY got to the blonde I wanted. It'd expensive being a blonde, but whats even more expensive is being a push over and having the stylists not honor what is being asked. I felt like I was blowing money on getting my hair color and not being happy each and every time I walked out. I'd like to add though, everyone at Mishay is extremely nice and I enjoyed each and every one of them, I just wish they could color my hair accordingly. Good prices, and great results is what Mishay delivers. I saw Brooke for about a year until I moved to San Francisco. I was sad I wouldn't have a dependable hair stylist anymore to give me my highlights. If you're looking for someone to do highlights or blonde, Brooke is definitely the right person! I think it was about $80 for highlights. Just explain what you want and she can do it. They even serve you tea, coffee, water or even wine while you wait for your hair to process. When I moved to SF I tried someone new to touch up my blonde and ended up with orangey hair! I miss you Brooke! read more

I mostly go for color and cut to Kelly and when she is out having another baby I see Andrea and I have always had 100% hair happiness. My husband goes to Ti and my kiddos have seen Jenna. I have also think Brooke is great too. The team of stylists there are sweet, wonderful and talented girls and I would recommend them to anyone. I completely agree with Mari's review. Why does a great hair salon have to be uppity and rude to it's customers and make you feel like they are doing you a favor? I called and got an appointment with JENNA for 2 days later . She is a great listener, gave me a supah' sexy haircut and knows color UNBELIEVABLY WELL! I was a result of some severe hair--carnage from The Underground salon and a friend referred me to this place to fix it. AND I WAS SO HAPPY!! It's true, ... the girls in the hair salon are beautiful, but more importantly... they know how to treat a customer. I was even ENCOURAGED to bring my kids in when my sitter cancelled at the last minute. Who does that? And sincerely means it?? Every girl in this place was nice to them, gave them a lil' juice box, said hello, talked to them... and of course a nice glass of wine and head massage for momma :) I'm a little sad I didn't discover them sooner, but now that I did, I'll carry her card around and hand it out to anyone that will listen. I am a very particular person. I am particular about my french dips, I am particular about my tiramisu, and I am especially particular about my haircuts. Since I moved to Santa Barbara, I was on a mission to find an adequate substitute for my precious hairdresser in Atlanta (you can see my glowing adulation for him in my Adore review). I was looking for the same magic, trustworthiness, and skill that so far, only he possessed. I kind of went on a hair cutting spree getting my hair cut by whomever, just trying to find that magical fit. Ok, I"ll say it: I was a haircuttin' slut. I thought I'd try out Darin Jon based on the great reviews and ended up with the butchering of a lifetime (you can see my disdain in my Darin Jon review). I had gone to Mishay several months before. Angel cut my hair and she did a great job with my cut and highlights. It was long at that time though, and I had been unhappy with my hair, struggling with whether to keep it or cut it. Well, after my Darin Jon fiasco, I went back to Mishay, tail in between my legs, and even though there wasn't much hair on my head left, I desperately needed help. Angel did a fantastic job and fixed me! She fixed me!! I no longer feel like a 70's male porn star Chuck Norris look alike. I must admit, at first I didn't put my full faith into Angel's capabilities since she doesn't have as many years under her belt (Steven has over 15 years....and yes, when it comes to my hair, the name Steven will always have a special place on my head!!) but she listened to what I wanted and successfully executed the rescue mission with pizzazz! I think I'm done whoring my hair out. I feel safe with Angel and coming from me, that means a lot. Oh, and wine while you wait is always a nice touch :) read more
