The is a great diner. They have good food and they don't hurt your wallet. I have only had lunch her once. But I love there breakfast.

Just finished up a first time visit and was left disappointed. The place was crowded but plenty of room at the counter which we specifically had to ask for. Seems like the default question on a busy day should be "Counter OK?" I ordered a chicken salad wrap with cole slaw. It was about a cup of mayo with sprinkle of old chicken bits. They were out of cole slaw. Yuck. My fellow diner had a country breakfast which was extremely salty. Our sever was nice and fairly attentive though. I won't be back soon if ever. read more

Not worth it, in my opinion. The allure of the Miss Mendon is that it is an authentic diner car, and yes, it is, but don't expect to be seated in it. We were in the dining room, which wasn't that spectacular. Bummer. There were plenty of seats in the car itself... but oh well. The food itself isn't anything to write home about. I got my normal hash and eggs, and the hash browns were meh. The corned beef hash was... 'homemade' but very weird. It was made with sandwich/deli meat instead of the real deal, which isn't my thing. The food wasn't really that hot either. The service is sub par. I saw my waitress maybe, 5 times. Once to greet, once to get drinks, once for food, and once for a check in/give us the check. They sure did like to chat though, as there were three or four waitresses. Neat fact--there's a TV in the bathroom. Another neat fact--the chef was chewing gum. Pretty sure that's a health code violation. The folks who own Imperial seem to have a couple of hands in many different buckets. Stick to selling cars, you seem to be good at that :) read more

There's no excuse to go here. I love my breakfast and when I think morning coffee, conversations and good, quick food I'm thinking of any other diner besides this one. Well I guess if you like long waits, in your face advertisement (you'll be eating in the lot of an Elvis fanboy's car dealership), an amount of neon lights that is uncharacteristic of everything within a 20 mile radius, food sub-par with every diner in the same 20 mile radius, costly menu, and an unnecessarily small dining area (the owner has plenty of money and space to make an adequately spaced building but decided to go with novelty over function) then if you want all those unavoidable characteristics with your coffee and pancakes you should definitely ignore every other diner around and come straight here. read more

Very cute refurbished diner, nicely decorated, retro feeling with nice furnishings and little juke boxes. I was so excited to come here and had high hopes for a great diner experience in my local area, one I could show off to guests when they come to visit. I ordered a breakfast burrito and my friend ordered the two eggs any style, which he ordered over easy, and we both had coffee. The coffee was nothing to write home about, and my burrito was served luke warm. It was basically scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, along with raw tomatoes, green peppers, and onions; a bit bland. It would have helped if the vegetables had been cooked, imparting some flavor. My friend's eggs were a little over cooked, and the home fries were not crispy at all, with almost no browning (i.e., flavor) and too much salt. Although a fun novelty place to visit for the atmosphere, I would not recommend Miss Mendon based on the food. Too bad because it has great potential! I would expect with all these luke warm reviews they would consider improving the food. read more

I had heard of the Miss Mendon diner. Since we were in the area we decided to try it. I loved the diner ambiance and the service was friendly and efficient, but the food was unimpressive. The haddock was good, but the rice pilaf was inedible. I was looking forward to the vegetable of the day which was grilled zucchini, but they were all out. The green beans were blah. The turkey gravy was too salty. Coffee was very good. If I go back it will be to try the breakfast. I won't waste my time or money on dinner. read more

I went here with 3 other people and we all kind of sat there and looked at each other when we were eating wondering what it was. This food was horrible and I would not eat there again. For someone who has all the money in the world you would think the owner would get his food and service 100% correct for the diner. Not good Kevin Meehan. Mendon is a great town that just happens to be a hidden jewel of food and shopping. The bonus is it borders my town. I have driven by this little place maybe a hundred times and was thrilled to see it finally open. Breakfast would have been great if they had gotten my order correct. I asked for scrambled eggs and received very (loose) over easy eggs instead. The toast was the best thing about the meal. The bread was thick but not heavy. Home fries were just to mushy and not at all flavored. The waitstaff were very cheerful but a bit overwhelmed I believe. It is a new place so I usually let these first experiences slide do to working out the kinks. So i gave it another chance for lunch. I was so excited after looking at all the great dishes that are offered. The menu is full of so called "diner" food. The meatloaf sandwich, Sheppard's pie, mac and cheese, and chicken fried steak are all available. But what it is not is "diner" food. These offerings are made with certain twists. I chose the Sheppard's pie. I figured that would be a good choice seeing it is a great diner food. I was very surprised to see it come out with shavings of cheese on the top. But the real surprise was that this Sheppard's pie was basically beef stew with a sparse layer of mashed potatoes. I was so disappointed. I really was looking forward to the original type pie - ground beef, corn and mashed potatoes. My companion had the meatloaf sandwich. The meatloaf comes on sandwich bread and topped with mashed potatoes and onion straws. I was hoping one of us would like our meal but no luck. The dish came out luke warm and I was told there was no herbs and spices in the meatloaf. The waitstaff again was overwhelmed. The cook was training a new cook and I can say he is one patient guy. Our waitress was very pleasant but seemed to forget about us every so often. I felt almost bad for asking for anything else but the check. Now I have had breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is the safest best and well worth the price. Our lunch selections were over priced. I still am looking forward to having dessert. The menu boasts home made apple and blueberry pie! I really really want to like this place seeing I keep going back. I love that diners are trying to make a come back especially in the east hopefully without the creative twists. I often get a dessert too and they're homemade, fresh and fabulous... seriously, the coconut cream pie is freaking amazing! The waffles are amazing! As good (no....better than Waffle House) and service that is 5 star! My hubby had the breakfast burrito (yummy) and my FIL had an omlet...also yummy. Hot, fresh coffee...what more could you ask? I have been here while my truck was getting serviced in the Ford dealer, as well as for dinner. The food and service have always been great. Don't go if you are expecting good fast service. Took our three children for Sunday breakfast & waited 1 1/2 hours only to get cold food. Service was crabby & clumsy. Stopped in for a bite after a day of fishing. I ordered the chicken-fried steak which came with a nice side of fresh sliced carrots and peas. The steak was good, and the white sausage gravy was tasty, but much too salty. It also was served with mashed potatoes and I chose the brown gravy for those. Very good mashed, and all in all a pretty good meal. The diner is comfortable, and very clean, which is always a pleasant surprise. Very nice restroom too. There are a number of flatscreen tv's strategically placed around the diner and little jukeboxes at each table. A quarter gets you 2 songs. If I was in the area, I'd probably come back and try some other things. Service was ok, nothing special, but competent. Overall, a 3 star joint. read more

My boyfriend had the corned beef hash which was basically a plate of potatoes with bits of corned beef mixed in. My eggs benedict was nothing to write home about either. We have been here many times with the family but tonight will be the last. Terrible chicken caesar wrap with home fries - gluten free wrap was stale so much that wrap broke apart and home fries were hard like they had been on the warmer for hours. The kicker was that they charged me $2 more for the gluten free wrap which the waitress failed to mention when she offered it as a option. Only offered to remove it from check when I expressed my displeasure in an elevated tone. I work directly across the street and for the longest time there wasn't much to eat around here. Thus my surprise when I found out that we would be getting a diner, I thought to myself "awesome diner food". That big smile was quickly removed when how long the wait was to pick up a to go order. My boyfriend and I ate here this morning and got some basic egg sandwiches. They were absolutely delicious. Service and seating were quick and efficient. However, what really stands out about this place every time I go and especially today is how friendly, outgoing, and positive the staff are. I've never had a waitress who wasn't smiling, and when you look around, they all seem to enjoy what they do. Our server dropped some dishes by accident today and her positivity and humor throughout the situation was great. Wow, this may be one of my best burger experiences ever! After seeing this cool Worcester style diner cart place on the phantom gourmet show several times, I finally convinced my wife to go there with me today for lunch. After getting lost twice on our way there - once by my doing, and secondly by her doing, I was starving! On the menu there are lots of all american comfort food choices, so it wasn't easy to choose. When I saw they had a double 6 oz pattie burger called " The ImperialBurger" that came with bacon and thousand island dressing, I had to go for it. Sara went with the baked haddock plate. The burger - sizeable, juicy, slightly charred, smokey and tremendously flavorful! My wife even had to have 4 bites of it. The haddock was real good and tasted fairly fresh and was well liked. The sides of corn and mashed were just okay. My onion strings were stringy, crispy and tasty. We decided on trying a desert even though we were stuffed in the hopes that it might wow us. The piece of apple pie and oreo pie were store bought and just not great. The service was good and attentive and we got stuffed for 36 bucks plus tip. I loved the old fashioned juke boxes stationed at each booth, so I used all my quarters playing the hits of Kenny Rogers, Johnnie Cash and Frank Sinatra. Very nice fully restored antique diner . Marty Meehans restaurant experiment on the property of Imperial Ford etc in Mendon. You can tell there is no shortage of cash at this operation, beautifully done woodwork, custom leather seat covers. The waitresses all wearing uniforms. It's worth the trip just to experiece the 1940-1950's ambiance. The Food: Coffee very good My meal was supposed to have 2 scrambled eggs, there were at least 3 on my plate. Very generous serving of homefries also and they were quite tasty, nicely browned as I prefer. Sausage was pretty good, although I usually prefer the natural casing type. Service was very good. Complaints: well the menu is configured in such away that to get a full breakfast with eggs sausage toast and homefries you have to add a side dish of homefries thus raising prices a little high. Oh yeah, the place was freezing cold when I arrived, but someone had fixed the thermostat before I left. Bottom line , it's a great place for breakfast ! read more

Love the fact that it's a classic diner, decor and all. Good food, big portions and so cheap. They have specials daily, so you have more of a selection too. Service was exceptional, very busy during lunch time. Also, its great that its located in a plaza with dealerships so that if you're getting service you could go grab a bite instead of just sitting in the waiting room. Will be back. read more

The Diner has good comfort food. I love their fish and chips. Portions are big and delicious. For Veterans Day, I took my folks. My father is a veteran and they comped his meal for his service. I've never seen this done. He was so excited and so was I for him. Great food as always. Got a piece of peanut butter cheesecake for the ride. It was a hit. I've been to the Diner many times. I have driven past here many times and decided to get breakfast here finally. But will probably be our last time there. The place is a small, cute diner with a nice little atmosphere. We had good service during our meal. But the food is only average (even for diner food). We had a couple omelettes. They were good and well packed full of the items we asked for. The major downside for the plate was the home fries. Over seasoned with paprika for that red color (but no flavor) and extremely mushy and soggy. Have to say that I like mine with a nice crust and crunch to the outsides of them. Family also had pancakes which were fairly average (not bad, but not great either). read more

They have some good early bird and late specials, but besides that it's not really worth it. I'll certainly update if I end up getting convinced to go there again but as of now, not worth going back. Stopped in late night for a bite. Service was spot on. Very attentive and helpful. We ordered turkey clubs and sodas. The club was fresh and well made, french fries were hot and plentiful. Overall great experience. We have been in for weekend breakfast and will say service is a bit slow when they are busy. Food sat for a bit waiting to be run to the table.. Meh. This was our first visit and I don't think we will be back. The food was decent. I liked the amount of veggies in my omelet, but I've had better flavor wise. I also like that they offered peanut butter and honey for my English muffin. My fiancé's meal however was disappointing. The eggs were not equally cooked and the hash was really skimpy on the "hungry Irishman". My Irishman is still hungry after that, which is typically not the case for his hash breakfast experiences. The ambiance was classic diner. Our waitress was friendly, but we had a long wait (nearly an hour) for a table for two. It was a Sunday at noonish time so I know that's peak time, but we were told 25 mins and the front desk lady was a bit curt. I go here very often because it's close to me, but the food is very 50/50 as well as the service. There are a few good waitresses,but I've had 2 bad experiences with them giving me dirty looks when I ask for a frappe or rushing me. The food wait is long, although sometimes I have had only about a 10 min wait so it's a hit or miss. One time I went with my girlfriend and her French toast was completely raw, and my home fries weren't fully cooked either. read more

I was super surprised when I saw all the bad reviews because I grew up going here! I went for lunch with my boyfriend on a Wednesday afternoon and we were treated really well by the staff and we got our food in such a quick time! I had my college graduation party in May. I absolutely loved the cozy comfort of the "Imperial Room". Jacki was the woman that I coordinated with and she was so absolutely friendly. Chef Jen limanekI made some incredible steak tips that one of my cousins couldn't stop talking about (hes from Boston and says they were the best steak tips he's ever had, and man does he love steak). I enjoyed the setting of the room because it was classy and cozy! The food was amazing and my guests made sure they left behind no left overs! Overall, I had a great experience and really enjoyed myself the night of my Grad Party. Do your events here! Only my 2nd visit, but excited for many more. It starts with the incredible wait staff, so friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and just downright nice! Good was great, typical Diner fare, but the best so far, the homemade soups. Those are a lost art in too many establishments, and it was just delicious. 2.5 stars seems right. Have eaten here 5 times over 5 years. Miss Mendon Rating: C- (meh), where it was "D" before (don't go). Expect 30-45 minute wait time to get breakfast. Atmosphere is good, clean, but I can't recommend this as a good eatery to frequent. TODAY (8/15/2016) Went back today after about 3+ years last visit. They've expanded and now have a lounge area - this is where we ate breakfast on a Monday. In the dead of a hot summer, it's well air conditioned in there, though the lounge area fans above the tables are about 75db loud... (hard to have conversation) The breakfast crowd filled the diner to maybe 1/2 capacity. Wait staff were good - pretty attentive, but like the other 4 times, wait times for simple foods (Imperial Special Breakfast) were 30+ minutes or longer. This is NOT due to the wait staff, but the food preparation end.. FOOD REVIEW Home Fries, Toast - Pretty good but warm (not hot) Coffee - very good Pancakes - Cardboard (batter old or over-beaten) - couldn't eat them. Bacon - one order came out undercooked, the other was OK. The cook seems to have cooked things in the wrong order or something, food was warm, not hot. (Felt like order sat for (estimate) more than 5 minutes before served) There seems to be only one flat-top being worked, maybe that's part of the problem. Maybe if you're at the Meehan dealerships getting your car serviced, it's worth coming over during a 2-hour+ service. My guess is a good amount of the diner business is directly from the dealership traffic and other businesses in the plaza. SUMMARY This time (at least for breakfast), the food was not prepared that well, and also not served hot. So, go if you must... but don't expect much.
