2.5 stars seems right. Have eaten here 5 times over 5 years. Miss Mendon Rating: C- (meh), where it was "D" before (don't go). Expect 30-45 minute wait time to get breakfast. Atmosphere is good, clean, but I can't recommend this as a good eatery to frequent. TODAY (8/15/2016) Went back today after about 3+ years last visit. They've expanded and now have a lounge area - this is where we ate breakfast on a Monday. In the dead of a hot summer, it's well air conditioned in there, though the lounge area fans above the tables are about 75db loud... (hard to have conversation) The breakfast crowd filled the diner to maybe 1/2 capacity. Wait staff were good - pretty attentive, but like the other 4 times, wait times for simple foods (Imperial Special Breakfast) were 30+ minutes or longer. This is NOT due to the wait staff, but the food preparation end.. FOOD REVIEW Home Fries, Toast - Pretty good but warm (not hot) Coffee - very good Pancakes - Cardboard (batter old or over-beaten) - couldn't eat them. Bacon - one order came out undercooked, the other was OK. The cook seems to have cooked things in the wrong order or something, food was warm, not hot. (Felt like order sat for (estimate) more than 5 minutes before served) There seems to be only one flat-top being worked, maybe that's part of the problem. Maybe if you're at the Meehan dealerships getting your car serviced, it's worth coming over during a 2-hour+ service. My guess is a good amount of the diner business is directly from the dealership traffic and other businesses in the plaza. SUMMARY This time (at least for breakfast), the food was not prepared that well, and also not served hot. So, go if you must... but don't expect much. Only my 2nd visit, but excited for many more. It starts with the incredible wait staff, so friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and just downright nice! Good was great, typical Diner fare, but the best so far, the homemade soups. Those are a lost art in too many establishments, and it was just delicious. Watch your bank account, the waitresses like to change the tip you put on the bill. I went for a meal, got terrible service and got charged a $10 tip which I did not choose for the tip. Went back to the manager and the manager said he would take care if it but did not help at all. read more

I was super surprised when I saw all the bad reviews because I grew up going here! I went for lunch with my boyfriend on a Wednesday afternoon and we were treated really well by the staff and we got our food in such a quick time! I got the hotdogs and fries (Loved it!!) and my bf got the grilled cheese (Also amazing!!!) and the oreo milkshake was great!!! Honestly so surprised by the bad reviews! I recently came here with 6 other people for dinner on a Saturday night. I can sum it up as a typical, average diner experience with nothing extraordinarily good or bad. Bonus points for the juke box built into your table, although I wish it had more songs to chose from - still 3 plays for a quarter is pretty cool. I had the Oreo milkshake and turkey club with fries. Being from Boston, the place was ridiculously cheap and the portions huge. The food all tasted good enough, like I said, very standard diner quality. I do wish the place was a bit larger, but it attempts to be an authentic diner, so I understand why it's so small. Also wish they had more than 3 beers (Stella, Bud and Bud Light) but I guess they don't really anticipate people drinking much there. I certainly wouldn't go out of your way to come here, but if you're in the area and looking for a quick meal, I think Miss Mendon will fit your needs. read more

The food is not bad, but an average it can be better for the prices. The dinner is really beautiful and the menu need to be more short, to manny things for just a menu. I ask for Benedict Eggs, is my second time here but today the egg muffin was soggy. The customer service is good and the waitress are joyful thats a good start. read more

Don't listen to anybody who tries to cover up mediocrity by saying "it's diner food." I've been to alot of diners with amazing food--this isn't one of them. Greasy, bland, and generally middle of the road food. The omlettes are terrible, as they tend to be very watery-- I'm not sure how they manage to offer so many options for fillers, yet none have any flavor. They offer endless pancakes, but unfortunately the ones they make are dense-- not exactly appetizing. Don't bother with the corned beef hash--again, bland. Prices are low, but that's the same for all diners. Unfortunately this area doesn't have any choices for actual diners, so people tend to come to Miss Mendon's thinking it's better than it really is. If you happen to be in the area with no other options, feel free to stop by. You won't be thrilled, but at least its a cheap place to get breakfast. The building is adorable however the food was awful. The waitress asked if we wanted our fries early....of course as we had two little kids with us. After an hour the fries came, undercooked and greasy. The kids chix fingers were hard as a rock with a ton of breading. barely any customers and the servers were constantly in the weeds. This is an authentic Worcester Lunch Car Diner built in 1950 and refurbished and expanded. The menu is classic diner food with a good selection of breakfast and lunch items. The service is good as well. I love omelets and had an egg white meat lovers omelet which was very good. My only complaint is that they don't offer fresh fruit as a side. My waitress said that many customers have asked for this and it still hasn't made it onto the menu. You really need to add this guys! read more

One star is an overstatement. This diner has it all....except what really counts. The food is terrible and the service is horrific. We were in the dining room, the new addition, with only a few other people in the diner and it took us almost one hour to get our food. The food was salty and terrible, tasted like canned food. The desserts were just as bad. The pies tasted like the refrigerator, and the crust was nothing but thick lard. It is really a shame because this place is so cute I have given it 3 chances, but three strikes and their out! I am done going here. It has soooo much potential, if someone would care enough to hire the right people to get the food right. The owner needs to put his money into that end of it instead of all the bells and whistles. I have been here a few times and honestly I would a hundred times over prefer to go to The Town Common in Hopedale. The food isn't good here but the atmosphere is pretty cool! What a poorly managed place. We went on a busy morning. One waitress seemed to know what to do, the other two were wandering around and appeared lost. Waited over 10 minutes for a burnt cup of cofffee. We ordered our meals and the result: the eggs were loaded with burnt pancake bits and other detritus from the grill. The homefries were overdone and dry. The only good points, the toast, fresh and soft crispy. This place is way overpriced. I thought, when we ordered that the prices were for large diner portions. Not so much. Rather normal, bland portions. Lastly, for the effort it took to find this place (in the middle of car dealerships), you'd think it would be better. I had liked this place my first couple visits. Large portions and great food. Then we went and waited about 40 minutes for lunch and the place was close to empty, but gave them another chance. Next visit about the same wait and food was sub par. Last visit (can't believe there was another, only because of our original good experiences) got there at 11:30 for lunch for a party of 3, left at 1:15... and we barely touched our food, not for lack of hunger, it was just terrible. The decor is nice and there's spacious seating, so that gets them an additional star. The food was barely edible. My wife ordered a buffalo wrap that was way too spicy. She gave up after a few bites. My fried chicken tasted like something you get at an amusement park. The vegetables that came with it had the consistency of rubber and I still can't figure out what they did with the potatoes. Went in for breakfast. Food was lousy. Homefries were under cooked. Had the Florentine omelet and it was like eating runny scrambled eggs. Ate about a quarter of the plate and sent food back. Didn't re order something else. Tipped the waitress who was very friendly and provided good service. Not her fault cook is doing a lousy job. Won't go back there again for breakfast. Waiting outside Miss Mendon Diner...again. The restaurant has decent food (though kitchen can be slow making it) but why have a 30 minute wait when patrons can see open tables everywhere??? We come here often because it's close to home but this summer I'm thinking we need to branch out. If the kitchen can not handle the addition they put on years ago it's time to expand it. We've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I love the diner atmosphere. It's also very clean but every time we have been here, the service was slow. In addition, it took a long time for the food to come out, even when all I wanted was a hamburger and a chocolate frappe. The food quality is okay but nothing special. I've eaten at many Worcester diners whereby their food was better than Miss Mendon. It's worth coming here if you're in the area and need to eat or like me, are getting your car serviced at the Ford dealer next door. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. This place looks cool on the inside and outside, so it's a fun place to eat. Service is not great - We sometimes wait three or four minutes before anyone walking by acknowledges us, but once we're seated our waitresses have always been polite. Food can take a while, but everything we've gotten there is pretty good. Pros: good money for portions (big), nostalgic ambience, big menu. We love diners and were thrilled when one opened in our town! The staff is incredibly gracious and so friendly. The food was fantastic and it was fairly priced. My step-daughter loves the jukeboxes at each table, and when wasn't working quite right, the waitress made sure she still could hear her song. We have come here for breakfast a bunch of times and it has been great. Went in for dinner around 7 on a Sunday and the food was sub par. Got the chicken pot pie. It was very dry with very little chicken in it. The crust that seemed to be placed on top of the bowl instead of baked on was pretty decent though. We also got the turkey turnover. This was tasty but the gravy that it was served with had a very strange flavor and was brown? I would think it should have been a lighter color-me just being picky I guess. The mashed potatoes were extremely salty. The cranberry sauce it came with was definitely the best part of the meal. Sad. Got a Corona to drink and they didn't even put lime in it. hhmmm maybe me just being picky again? Will come back for breakfast but that's about it. read more

This is a real old-style diner. Be prepared for good service and long waits. There aren't enough people to serve the entire facility, so it seems that it takes too long for the kitchen, and too long between service staff. Similar experiences apply for the food. The crust of the pot pie was dry and overcooked, but the body of the pie was delicious, not too heavy and not too soft. The chili was excellent, but the tortilla chips "just out of the oven" were undersalted and greasy. The hamburger was excellent, and the potato chips were proper home fry style chips. Some people, not expecting that might be disappointed. The lemon meringue pie, was classic American fare. A crispy crust, lemon filling from a can, and piles of delicious egg froth. There are no huge American serving sizes here either. This is the way people used to eat, for a decent price. If you're not in a hurry and want a more traditional style meal, highly recommended. read more

Nothing to write home about. We tried the Miss Mendon Diner for breakfast. I got the crabmeat benedict which came with homefries. The eggs and crabmeat were good, the english muffin underneath was sogggyy. The homefries had no taste at all. My boyfriend got the hash and eggs. The eggs were cooked perfectly. We were told the hash was home made which would make you think it would be extra special. The potatoes were undercooked, there was barely a speck of corned beef to be found, and for some strange reason it actually tasted fishy. The coffee was very good. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We will try it again but I think we will wait a while. I was very excited to see a diner open in this area. While the food was just okay, the servers and atmosphere were pretty outstanding. It was reasonably priced so that was a plus. We have been going to the diner since its inception. Because it is local, and because we love the feel of a good diner, and because it is clean and wonderfully restored, we were, regulars, BUT......we kept waiting for the food to improve and for the coffee to improve......we mostly get breakfast there and let's admit, there are basically three things for a good breakfast, good coffee, great bread, and great potatoes. Cooking an egg or breakfast meat or pancakes should be a given.....I do admit the pancakes have gotten a little better, but not great. Our last go at it was another disappointment, my potatoes, (I had quit ordering the potatoes in the past because they were so bad), were limp and cold. How sad. How can you serve limp cold potatoes? There are other great diners in the area...I wish this was one of them. By the way, the wait staff is great.......too bad the food is so bad. read more

My review in 2013 was 2 stars. Came back and it was good. Have been coming back since. I should have updated my previous review. However, came in tonight. They have a new menu and it is much smaller than before. The service was slow. My son ordered the Irish breakfast and it is described as 3 eggs over homemade corn beef hash. They brought out a plate with a small amount of hash and scrambled eggs on it, not over easy. I ordered the chili special and it was mediocre at best. Used to be a great place to go for good good at fair prices. Doubt we'll be back again. Has gone way downhill. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

I ordered the turkey pot pie which they should call potato pot pie .There was hardly any turkey in it . It also was dry and cold ! My friend ordered eggs over easy and they served him dried burnt eggs cooked all the way through . Also his food was cold. I complained to the waitress which didn't do any good.
