Went to this place on a whim. Since I moved up to the Hudson Valley from NYC I have always found it difficult to find variety. The area is filled with chain restaurants and diners, which aren't bad, but are more or less the same. My wife and I wanted something different and I found this place. We went there for lunch and it was nothing short of awesome. This place is spaced out well, service is very good, and the pho was great. My wife got vegetarian pho, I got the beef, each a side of jasmine rice, some hot tea and vegetable spring rolls with peanut sauce for an app. The staff is super friendly and they have high chairs that actually work (most places don't in my experience). We are definitely going to return! Oh yeah, we had bubble tea as a dessert. Man, I haven't had bubble tea since going to Flushing on weekends for dim-sum. We found the pho place not far away from our hotel on the way back to NYC. We ordered its Special pho and Seafood egg noodle. Both came with decent size. Pho tasted good and authentic as stated in the menu. Seafood egg noodle tasted good with various selections. The service is attentive and prompt. Being full Vietnamese, I thought this place was quite authentic and had a good variety of viet food. I was pretty impressed with it since I can't seem to find very much Asian food on the east coast compared to where I lived most of my life in Southern California. The food itself was good quality, my boyfriend and I ordered pho with brisket, pho with meatballs, a white coffee (ca phe sua da), and an avocado shake. They were all great! The atmosphere was also pleasant, the restaurant was very clean and open, with bright walls. Service was also good, heck the food came out within 5 minutes of ordering it. The waitresses were polite and nice. It was a little pricey but I'm not going to complain when it comes to authentic food. The bowls were also as large as they should be, a big portion for most people. I will definitely be going back again, it's so nice to find your own culture's food! read more

So this new shop opened up on june 9th. And I've been waiting for it since the promotional pictures that were posted on the glass. And since then I have visited 3 times. The first day was a bit rough they did not have the full menu available. I tried the pho with jumbo shrimp, it was delicious as well as the popcorn chicken which I loved. They also don't charge for soft drinks which was awesome. They also make iced coffee and milkshakes, they taste Devine! I recommend this place to any one who is a closet foodie like myself. First time trying Pho. Place is cute, service was good, not great. Not particularly warm and friendly Was kind of looking forward to trying a Bahn Mi, but was told they aren't making it anymore, which is odd bc it's a popular Vietnamese specialty that is on the menu and large photos advertising it hang on the walls in the resto. I had the sliced rib eye Pho and since hubs only eats fish, he had shrimp with rice and vegetables. All of our food was good, but I just didn't find enough wow factor to drive out of my way to visit again, unless I specifically wanted Pho which I don't see myself craving any time soon. read more

Authentic Vietnamese Pho joint! Pho Max has the The "Pho" pronounced (Ph-uh) I've been craving for, Savory beefy broth not overly done with rich flavors of blended spices. Succulent mixture of beef flanks, rib eye and steaks with fresh plate full of bean sprouts, fresh basil, lime and jalapeno, cilantro and onion. Plenty of spices to add on the table: Sriracha, Red Pepper Sauce and Hoisin sauce. What more do you need? In my constant search for Vietnamese Pho. I've found that diamond in the rough, in Wappingers Falls. Searching for authentic Vietnamese restaurant in the East Coast have been quite difficult, with most owned by Chinese etc. but this place is "Viet" which is rare especially in the Hudson Valley, Danbury CT area. I'm just uberly happy I can have my Vietnamese fix. Oh yeah other stuff besides the Pho. Eggrolls (summer/spring) with vermicelli and vegetables were awesome. Making lettuce wraps with rich fish sauce makes them taste so good. The restaurant also serves Ban Mi, Bún bò Hu, and vermicelli dishes which I'll try next time. The Ambiance of the place is modern and clean with plenty open space for couples and families. I am here for the great food and I don't care. The wait staff is very helpful, Seems they fix the kinks of opening up a restaurant, which have been mentioned in previous post. Great place for Vietnamese food on route 9! Came here when it was empty one afternoon. They have an extensive menu and plenty of seating. Looks very much like a new place. I was craving lemongrass chicken for some reason and they didn't have it on their menu but the guy said they could make it which was nice. On a long road trip back home, my family stopped here for a late dinner on Sunday. (On a side note, I think this place changed their name somewhat recently. If you're searching in Google Maps, Google still thinks it's called Pho Max but it's the right location.) This was the only Asian restaurant open late on Yelp that we could find between Eastern Pennsylvania and the section of New York we were passing through to get to Connecticut (traveling on I84), and it definitely helped that my Vietnamese friend Thien wrote a great Yelp review on it (check it out!). The place has a really cute modern cafe / froyo bar feel to it, which was thankfully devoid of the overrated stereotypical Asian decor. Great place for a date or a meal with family. In fact, this place was pretty poppin'--during the course of our meal, there were four couples and a big group of eight friends eating here (not including takeout orders), which was pretty impressive between the hours of 8:30-10:00 PM. Largest portion of bean sprouts to add to the vegetable pho we all ordered that I've ever gotten! Each bowl came out super hot, and I had to slow my eating to avoid burning my tongue. Great selection of veggies in the dish - bok choy, napa cabbage, daikon radish, carrots, broccoli, onion, and tofu. Also was happy to hear that their perfectly savory vegetable broth is MSG-free. (If you need additional flavor, they have sriracha, chili sauce, and hoisin sauce on each table.) The amount was comparable to most pho places where you pay an extra dollar for the larger size, but at this restaurant there's only one default size. The plus to that is you get a big bowl of steaming pho for only $8.99. A couple of reasons that this place is close to 4 stars and not quite a perfect experience for me... As of this visit, their bubble tea is made from a powder and not fresh. I also heard a dairy-free customer trying and failing to order drinks, and it didn't seem that they were flexible with accommodating for those with dietary restrictions (as a vegan, I sympathized). Finally, instead of a recyclable plastic container to take my soup leftovers home, they use sytrofoam, which is every environmentally-conscious person's worst nightmare. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back - albeit with my own takeout container. read more

Well this place seems have gone through three separate owners and each one has done better than the last. The new batch has revamp the entire menu and added one of my all-time favorites shrimp crackers or shrimp puffs to the menu which are amazing. Highly addictive and highly recommended. The menu has a very extensive vegetarian section which wasn't a main feature the last go-around comma I was tempted but I stuck with the bun Bo hue which is my all-time standard dish when trying out new Vietnamese spots. Reading the other reviews I was expecting much better food with perhaps spotty service. Our service was fine -- except at the end we were not told to bring our bill up to the desk to pay. We got some grilled beef spring rolls and fried calamari for appetizers. Both came with nice dipping sauces, but were otherwise unremarkable. Especially the calamari that was weird fake shaped and some frozen prepackaged stuff. We both got the house special pho, that is still repeating on me 3 hours later. If there was a full ounce of beef in there I'd be surprised. The "brick" of noodles was not even broken up at all. Broth lacked any depth of flavor and was greasy. The sauce was a little light, I had to pour all of the sauce into my noodle to get some taste. The Chicken clear noodle soup was good. The broth was light with enough seasoning. Food here is an absolute 5 and service here was a 1. I ate the pho with egg noodles and shumei dumplings with chicken dumplings and beef broth. I also had the garlic butter rice appetizer. It was so delicious and the 6 other people I went with said the same thing and we all got various forms of pho. I can't say enough how excellent everything was as well as being reasonably priced. Alternatively, the service was horrendous. It took FOREVER for the waitress to Come over to us as she was the only one, they forgot one of our bubble tea drinks so that took a long time. Then when the food came out they insisted we got four soups with chicken broth when we only got 2. The Beef Pho was good. The meatballs were the best part of the bowl. The service was very poor. The tables all need to be cleaned. There is stuff under and on top of the plexiglass. Took several months mutes to get a menu, and several more for my order. No one checked on me, and i had to flag down the server for the check. The quality of the food was solid, i believe the restaurant could do so much better clean with prompt service. There was one other thing that just bugs me. They keep the chop sticks and spoons on the table for all customers to paw getting them out. In my opinion simply poor service. The food preparation was under 20 minutes. I'll give them the props for that. However, I believe I'm being over charged for both number 56 and 63. For number 56, the meat is flavorless. The sauce is neither sweet or sour. It tasted like nothing. As for number 63, the banh mi is so much shorter than the banh mi's I had in NYC and Lee Sandwiches. I believe the sandwich is around 4 inches, and it was $8.25. As for the taste, once again, the flavor was barely there. I am disappointed. One of the better Vietnamese menus in the area. Wide selection of authentic entrees as opposed to your usual handful of plates catered to an American crowd. The pork summer rolls were great and LIGHT! The food was fresh and the owners are very nice. The pho was good, but the only suggestion would be to have more noodles! We eat a lot of pho and this was one of the skimpier portions we've had. The flavor was good, but it is a more aromatic broth than other places, so be ready for intense flavor. Great place to get Pho if you're in poughkeepsie. It's right off route 9 and there's parking. No wait time for a week night around 630pm for 3 people. Great customer service and extensive menu! The appetizers are great, vermicelli, and pho are good. Everything tasted clean and the broth was tasty. They have take out as well. Lots of seating too! What a great addition to the area! There are so many Chinese and Japanese places in the Hudson Valley, but pho is hard to find. Can't beat the price for healthy, tasty takeout or a quick sit-down meal. The veggie pho has more ingredients than most spots I've been: broccoli, both raw and lightly fried tofu, carrots, onions, scallions, and a whole slew of greens and spices. When dining in these restaurants , we are often taken care by family members of the restraint owners and I feel it's a unique experience to appreciate. Everything I have had here is delicious. Dumplings are out of this world, vermicelli is amazing, pho is amazing. You can't go wrong here. And if you want to feel crazy you have to try the coffee, it is delicious and strong. I tried Saigon Pho several years ago and thought it was okay. I read some reviews today and decided to try it again and now I am sorry I have not been going here on a regular basis. Nicely decorated, nice and cool inside. Had the spicy beef Pho and it was delicious. Wonderful complex flavors, beautiful spicy broth, nice mild noodles, topped with a whole fresh little 'branch' of basil...so cool ! Wonderful fresh bean sprouts, cilantro, a wedge of lime.....so sooo good !! Also had the vegetable egg rolls which came with carrots and what I think were pickled onions....all that went into the Pho too. The slightly sweet, light dipping sauce served with the egg rolls was wonderful. Portion was large and I was VERY full when done. Several young men working very fast on helping everyone.
