A wonderful place for breakfast! I had the Southern slammer sandwich. A pretty healthy choice with flavors that explode in your mouth. My husband had the breakfast tacos. They were a little spicy for him. I tasted them and thought they were great. We both had a blood Mary. The pickled vegetables that garnished our drinks were plentiful and tasty. Like most brunch places, they don't take reservations on Saturday and Sunday so we came right around 11 am on Saturday for brunch and there was already an hour wait - but trust that there's a reason why! There's also a 2 hour limit, which seems reasonable to me but for some who like to brunch for hours (my younger self) you might choose a different place. My wife and I always go for one savory dish and one sweet dish and split it, best of both worlds! This time it was the Cuban Huevos Sandwich and the coconut cream stuffed French toast. Both were absolutely incredible. The sandwich has house made bbq pulled pork that just melts in your mouth. The French toast is MASSIVE and so so good if you have a sweet tooth. This place is worth the hype. The inner harbor seems constantly packed, but there's always another location 15 minutes away that's not in the middle of downtown and might be less busy, if you don't want to wait. read more

Atmosphere: This was my first time at the Baltimore location. The building is nice, but it appears to be in an office space. Very modern. It's bigger than the Annapolis location. Food & Drinks: I absolutely love the Crab Cake Benedict. The poached egg comes out perfectly every time, and the crab cakes are seasoned to perfection (& no filler!). I visited this location on Monday around 11am-ish. The vibe was nice, the host, waitress etc were very attentive and friendly. It was pretty packed when my boyfriend and I arrived but there was no wait, we were immediately seated. I got the Shirley's crush to start and my bf got some type of Kentucky bourbon strawberry lemonade. The crush was really delicious, I definitely felt it's effects after the one drink. To eat, I got the cheddar chicken and waffles and my bf got the crabby Mac and cheese. Both very delIcious! The crab Mac and cheese had lots of crab and was seasoned very well. The chicken and waffles came with a Cajun seasoned butter and a honey mustard aioli on the chicken. The chicken was seasoned well and very crispy; however, it was a bit dry. Nothing some hot sauce couldn't fix (which is available right at the table). Ofcourse it's located in the city, so parking can be trIcky, there's a garage directly across from the restaurant that I think was charging $15 for 2 hrs and street parking for $3/hr. We ended up using the spot hero app and got parking about a 5 min walk for $8 for 3hrs (ablemarle street lot) since there was no street parking available. They never mentioned anything about validated parking so I'm not sure if they validate parking. Miss Shirley's is absolutely slammin'! I love coming together at a table with like minded people, who all agree to order the entire menu. Everything was so good from the fried green tomatoes to the fried chicken, biscuit and gravy omelet (though there for sure could have been more chicken in this). Their menu is focused on comfort food, so though I don't recommend opting here if you're on the verge of hangry (you'll have to wait for a table)... plan to indulge and maybe expect to leave satisfied, but a bit uncomfortable. Another flight attendant recommended this to me. The walk from my hotel was just under a mile on a particularly frigid day, but it was well worth the walk. Spoiler alert: underwhelming at best. Read more to find out why... Let me start by saying I'm a HUGE fan of the Baltimore food scene, and that I've tried food all over this awesome city. After hearing people rave about the breakfasts here, I decided to brave the lines and long waits and see what all the hype was about. I went on a Monday, around 1pm, in hopes to avoid the rush, and the wait was approximately 40 minutes. No biggie...I grabbed a coffee at the bake shop around the corner. It proved to be FAR better, and cheaper than the coffee served at Ms. Shirley's. I was finally allowed into the building after my wait, and the popularity of the restaurant was immediately apparent. Though no host was at the entry to seat me, the bustle of post lunch rush made it immediately apparent that this place, like so many restaurants in the United States, though probably doing their best, was woefully understaffed. Eventually someone came to the podium, looked up my name, and led me to my seat. On the walk there, a woman said "enjoy your meal!" Which was the only bit of extra interaction I'd have the entire time at this place. The QR code menu boasted a large variety of options, from light breakfasts to seasonally themed brunches, with savory, sweet, and generally interesting themed options. After considering the grits, which looked really good on paper, ordered the Chicken and Waffles as it seemed more substantial. Oh, and a cup of coffee. The coffee came out lukewarm (I was informed of this by the server, who realized it as I was being served) and the server immediately brought me 2 mugs of fresher coffee. It was good, but paled in comparison to the bean juice I'd indulged in during my wait to be seated from the bakery around the corner. After a while my food arrived. Three chicken fingers and three mini waffles. The waffles were supposedly mixed with chives or some sort of savory flavors, but they were raw in the middle so I was hard pressed to find that flavor. What looked to be Parmesan cheese was sprinkled on top of them, and the three were complemented by a dollop of some sort of compound butter. The chicken was heavily breaded, overcooked to the point of dryness, and dressed with about a teaspoon of honey. I tried to enjoy the dish as served but buckled midway through and asked for a bit of syrup to make the dish a bit more palatable. I was starving, so got down to business and ate the whole monstrosity while slamming water and coffee and enjoying the crowd. It wasn't bad...but I'd stop short of saying it was really really good. All told, with a 20% tip I was in and out for $30. Perhaps Ms.Shirley's is one shining example of what happens to once-great establishments once they're "discovered..." I mean the place was featured on a hit food network tv series so it must be great, right??? To some, it could be. But I've eaten enough amazing food to know that there are quite possibly DOZENS of better breakfast spots in Baltimore than this place. Do yourself a favor...get off of Yelp and check out eater dot com. It will point you in the direction of smaller, more intimate, more quintessentially "Baltimore" restaurants which haven't yet withered and worsened due to five seconds of TV fame. My bet is that you'll pay less, be served quicker and more professionally, and maybe just maybe their coffee will be good too. read more

Our waiter was wearing a mask and gloves, and was really professional and kind. 【Cuban Huevos Sandwich】 First off, the portions are huge, but the food looks so appetizing that we did not struggle to finish it. This dish is a smart combination between a classic breakfast and sandwich and a Cubano sandwich. You can find the traditional ingredient of the Cubano sandwich such as the pulled pork, with the ham, pickles, with Swiss cheese, and the addition of the fried egg, and the ciabatta bread makes it a really tasty sandwich. The hash brown was not particularly good however. 【Coconut Cream Filled French Toast】 This was recommended to us over and over so we had to go for it. I am French. I know what a French toast looks like. Those were more like French Loaves. Don t get me wrong, it was delicious, But maybe the coconut cream was a bit too sweet and thick. I'd give 10 s if there was a button for it. Miss Shirleys topped our New Years off with the most delicious buttermilk pancakes, to die for 2 egg breakfast plates, and egg white quiche. Perfectly fine Southern-inspired food, if a little on the overpriced side. I've had their Get Your Grits On (with salmon), biscuits, and Chesapeake deviled eggs. I definitely would not order the raspberry mascarpone biscuits again. The Everything but the Bagel Cream Cheese biscuits are a much, much better option. Quick walk from the convention center and we were luckily seated quickly. Seating is tight and larger groups need to wait longer, but that's pretty par for the course in hot spot eateries like this. We visited Miss Shirley's the Sunday after the Ravens playoff loss to the Titans. It was my first time visiting the restaurant, so I can't for sure how long the wait times are on average, but we had to wait for about 40minutes for a table for four at around 10am. We had the pleasure of having Zoe as our server. She was definitely as hospitable as a person can be, and on top of everything despite having multiple tables. I've been on a unique diet for the past a few months, and there are certain foods I'm trying to avoid. Zoe was very helpful and attentive as I modified my South of the Border Omelet to be more suitable to my dietary needs. My order came out perfectly the way I had wanted it, and it tasted amazing. If it weren't for the amazing food as well, I would come back just for the stellar service that we received. My only qualm against the restaurant is with the pricing of the jumbo lump crab meat that comes with the Fried Green Tomatoes. As delicious as the green tomatoes are, $10 for what was supposed to be 2 oz of crab meat seems hardly reasonable. read more
