Looking for a Chinese restaurant because my daughter is a Beef and Broccoli and Egg Drop Soup addict. We visited Miss Wonton for the first time. Although Miss Wonton is a very small takeout only eatery, there is a short corridor to the bagel and breakfast restaurant next door where I'm told you can sit down with your Chinese food. My wife also ordered Taiwanese Rice Noodles to share with me. It took a long time for our order to come out, but my daughter absolutely loved her Beef and Broccoli, and gobbled it down like there was no tomorrow. The Egg Drop Soup was good, but personally I wish it was just a little thicker with more egg drop. My wife usually complains that such and such dish has too much salt, but she really savored the Taiwanese Noodles and so did I - super scrumptious. We got the tofu and broccoli, kung pao tofu, Taiwanese noodles, fried rice and soup dumplings. The food is not good but it is not horrible and it is edible. I think they have their own delivery person who for some reason didn't leave the food at my door man or my front door and instead texted they were outside my house then were leaving WITH my food to the point where my partner had to chase them down the street to get our food. The kung pao does not have any flavor mostly and barely any sauce then in some areas is oddly sweet. The fried rice doesn't have any flavor. The tofu and broccoli and Taiwanese noodles were best though the tofu and broccoli was a bit bland. The Taiwanese noodles were nothing special in terms of flavor but I just like noodles The soup dumplings were not good. I would not order from here. My partner was like why did we get it given the reviews are not good I will say the portions are generous. If anything I would consider ordering the noodles again and possibly the tofu and broccoli and hope it has a bit more flavor but it was all not very amazing. Absolutely ridiculous wait time and system for ordering and picking up in person. Waited for over 30 minutes. No one to assist at the front, she only Pops out once several orders are ready so even if your order is first and ready, you won't receive until she feels like bringing it out. Also she doesn't look like she wants to be there and dismissive. They don't pick up the phone at all for pick up orders while still charging higher prices for online orders. Broth was flavorful and pork strips were tender. I decided to also get Wonton Soup and Hot & Sour Soup, which were both good. The Hot & Sour Soup had a nice light spicy tang to it. Newly opened just two weeks, they share the space with Kossar's Bagels & Bialys. Same owners! The setup is cute. There is only a little red bench available and it's quite small inside. I immediately noticed their signage as I was walking to Kossar's for some bagels for the fam, after work. While I was waiting for my bagel order, I noticed patrons in Kossar's eating with chopsticks and I thought it was odd to bring in food from other businesses to eat. After I received my order, I noticed the entryway that leads to Miss Wonton, connected to Kossar's. Naturally, I walked in to check the place out. It's a small operation and borrows the same color pallette at Kossar's. I love how they use the steamer baskets on the wall for decor. Since I already had a huge brunch order in tow, I only ordered a few dumplings to try them out. I opted for the fried pork, the shrimp & celery and the spicy chicken wontons. Lisa was manning the counter and she was very friendly. She said they've only been open for two weeks now, and upon inquiring about the connecting entrance, she told me that they share the same owner. I waited for a couple of minutes and had my dumplings in hand. I didn't want to wait until I got home so I tasted each order in my car. I love pan fried dumplings, but unfortunately, they only have pan fried pork or impossible dumplings. You can not get any of their other dumplings pan fried. Spicy Chicken Wonton - the aroma that traversed my nostrils was mouth-watering. You can smell the vinegar and spices. It gives a Szechuan vibe. I wish they were spicier because the font on the menu suggests they are really spicy but my 5 y/o was ok with the spice level when she tasted one at home which means it definitely was not spicy enough for me. Fried Pork Dumplings - these are constructed differently than I've seen. They look like mini fried pork burritos. They're cute. The dumpling sauce has a great umami flavor but the dumplings themselves, are kind of bland. I love a dumpling that can be eaten without any sauce. I mean, I love to dip, but the sauce is an added bonus IMO. The dumpling should be able to stand on its own. The filling ratio is good but it definitely needs more oomph. It was kind of a let down after trying the spicy chicken wontons which were way more flavorful, sitting in their own sauce. Shrimp & Celery Dumplings - these are steamed and they're cute little pockets of fresh shrimp. The shrimp flavor really stands out and the celery brightens it even more. Unfortunately, I experienced the same issue as with the pork dumplings; the filling needs more seasoning. It is again, a bit bland, although, the sauce is a great help. Biting a little hole and getting the sauce inside completely transforms the flavor. I'm glad I sometimes work in the area so I will get an opportunity to try more of their menu items in the future. Let's see... not sure which review to describe - I've placed various orders, fried rice, pickled cabbage, soups, tofu, chicken , scallion pancakes... all freshly made, with in 10-15 min, good portions, generous- I should say!! 1 important fact; they pack well for travel!! With the extra Wonton I counted 8. Wonton were mostly pork with just an occasional hint of pink shrimp. Shanghai Bok Choi added. Topped with dried seaweed like nori. Noodles were typical but not special. However the bowl was full and filling. The Nextdoor space is Kosars and the emailed receipt was under their name. The food is very good. It definitely satisfies the cravings. I liked the pickled cabbage with pork rice noodle soup. The soup and pork is very tasty. I recommend this rice noodle soup. I think for the noodle soups, the noodles are mostly rice noodles. They don't do the yellow ones in the soup. Maybe for the wonton-only noodle soup. I also liked the Dan Dan Noodles with pork. This is the yellow noddles with just the right amount of sauce. Not too saucy. The wonton soup on its own is pretty good too. I also tried a few other dishes. The beef rice noodle soup is pretty good. It's the marinated sliced beef. I prefer stewed beef though. I don't think they have this. They have a few pieces of bok choy in it too. I added wontons. They were ok. I like the wontons better in its own soup. The soup for the noodles with beef is brown vs a light yellow soup. The staff are friendly. It's a take-out place, so the store itself doesn't have tables. It's connected to Kossar's Bagels, which does have tables and chairs. You can walk through from the inside too. I think you can use those seatings if you feel comfortable doing so. It can be a quick 30-minute meal. read more

Food was not bad but the reason I'm giving 1 star is because I ordered General Tso's tofu, but found a piece of chicken in my food. It is unmistakably chicken because of the smell and texture. I'm assuming it happened because of a shared fryer. But if they are using a shared fryer for the tofu and chicken then the tofu should not have been labeled as vegan. My mouth and tongue are itching so who knows what else was in that fryer. We were disappointed in the spicy chicken wontons as they were not spicy at all. Something that needs to be worked on since it's one of the few items on the menu that are supposed to be spicy. This is a cute spot with the same owners as Kossar's Bagels and Bialys. My interest was piqued at a new soup dumpling spot right here in the neighborhood. Upon visiting, I realized it's fast casual Pan Asian food which is also nice for the neighborhood. I ordered the chef's special spicy chicken wontons and the pork Xiao long bao (soup dumplings). Both types of dumplings were perfectly serviceable. The spicy chicken dumplings were not all that spicy and I found their sauce a little sweet. The soup inside the dumplings was perfect temperature after walking home with them, which tells me they were very hot when they came out. The soup was nice and flavorful as was the pork inside. What I did notice and appreciate was how the ingredients were very high-quality. The dumplings didn't sit heavily or feel too greasy. The sauce for the spicy wontons wasn't too salty either. This meets an important need for food that's well-made and won't break the bank for a fast dinner. 6 soup dumplings were $10.95. The spicy dumplings were $8.95. The value was actually in the entrees of which the menu was stacked with Chinese and Chinese-American favorites ranging from $12-$17. Portions also looked much better for the money too. Given the quality of the dumplings here, I'd say they'll do in a pinch if you're not able to make it to Chinatown given price and quality. read more

After passing by so many times after enjoying a bagel at kossars located in the same building, I decided to try ordering a Bento Box on Feb 8 at 4:15 PM. The food quality could not have been worse. I was given a half of a small container of average tasting wonton soup. The two pork dumplings were pretty decent (or I would have marked one star.) What ruined my dinner was the General Tso's Chicken. The sweet taste was alright, but when I tried to chew the chicken, the batter it was fried in was so chewy.,.... that it was "inedible." Today on Chinese New Year, I went to Miss Wonton located on York Ave & 76th St and ordered a small Wonton Soup. I waited 20 minutes while the cashier was yapping away on the phone. Finally, got my order and went home. I was very disappointed. There were 4 skimpy wonton in broth. It was bland and tasteless. I guess I'm spoiled I expected a little more ingredients like a sprinkle of scallion , chopped greens and roast pork. Just like Charlie Mom used to do. The pan fried pork dumplings are criminally under-seasoned and have almost no taste at all. Discarded the first piece of chicken I found hair on and while trying to move on found another piece. The gentleman at the register was very nice and immediately gave me a refund, however the staff member (who obviously thought I didn't speak Spanish) sucked his teeth a continued to make comments saying there was no hair in the food. The worst thing you can do as a chef is have an attitude about food that is not properly prepared.. especially when it's a health violation!!! Had trouble finding a phone number for them. After entering my financial and personal info, the next screen thanks me for my order and it shows $23.88! No screen to accept or correct! Incidentally, no area tp enter a tip. Quickly scrolled up. No phone number, just an address. The food was nothing. Just a pile of noodles with a few slices of red onion and regular shrimp. YUK.
