Nice spot in the MKE Burbs. While the meats can't compare to those in the motherland of BBQ, this place puts up a good fight. I had the 3 meat sampler. Brisket, Pulled Pork and Ribs. Gotta say I wasn't disappointed in any of them. I'm a big fan of Joe's in KC, Q39 and Jack Stacks. Those places have great meats and great sides, with great sauce. Night of the Living Dead is one of my favs. While the meat here was great I was disappointed in the sauces. None of them struck me as outstanding. For me, BBQ is probably 60% meat and 40% sauce. Need to hit a homerun on both! Anyway like I said this spot holds it own. I would repeat if I was in the area and probably try some of their other meats. read more

The best bbq place I have ever been to. I enjoyed the salmon which was cooked perfectly. My husband had the brisket sandwich which he loved. The atmosphere is modern clean and fun. The french fries were abundant. We enjoyed trying all six different sauces on the table. We will definitely come back here. read more

For a chain this is above average Q, good selection of the essentials and great sauce choices about 1 from every BBQ Region. I've sampled Q from all the major markets, KC, Oklahoma, Nebraska, St. Louis, Carolina's, & Tennessee so not only should the Q stand on its own the Sides should as well. 3 Stars- Brisket, a bit on the tough side, great that it's sliced to order. 5 Stars- Coleslaw, one of the top 3 I've ever had 5 Stars- Beans excellent flavor and thickness 5 Stars- Service, well trained staff & very friendly, this is a true compliment to the management to seek out people who care and want to excel Will be back to try the Ribs! read more

We like this place so much we had them cater our wedding. They were awesome caters and we still come here all the time for food.

Counter service only, like fast food. Staff was friendly tho. Pulled pork was bland, no char, and lukewarm. KC-style bbq sauce was watery and inauthentic. Mac 'n cheese side was good. Decor is packed with military and police iconography. And to their credit, the owners donate $$ to uniformed personnel and organizations that support them. But make no mistake -- Mission BBQ is about politics, not food. If you want to donate, send your money directly to our deserving men & women in uniform. But as an Air Force Veteran and son of a WW2 veteran, I so appreciate the way they honor Service and Sacrifice of Generations of Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen, many of whom lost their lives or risked their lives in the service of our County. Included are our Law Enforcement: Police, Fire and First Responders. They even play the National Anthem, every day at Noon. Who does that any more? Five Stars. read more

This is a great addition to the food available on Bluemound Road. On its first day this location is doing a great job! The servers are well trained and very knowledgeable about the food. They did a great job answering all of the questions i had. Definitely a great resource for anyone that isn't familiar with BBQ. Even the staff cleaning tables stopped to ask if I needed anything. Service was so good it was hard to believe it's a quick serve restaurant and not a more expensive establishment. The slab of spare ribs I had was right on target. The meat had a solid smoke ring and the meat was juicy. The rub was very good. The ribs could have been eaten without sauce. Mission offers six different sauces to catered to any taste. I tried the Texas Twang which was very good but it leans more to a KC-style than Texas. Memphis style is on target with a great sweet and spicy flavor. We also had the cheese and jalapeño sausages which have a great flavor without the smokiness being BBQed adds. They were delicious but I would like a little more smoke flavor. If Mission can maintain the service and product I had today it's sure to become a very popular place to eat. P.S. Don't pass on the caramel bread pudding if it's available. It's fantastic. read more

This is the second Mission I have been to. Neither has been up to par. At this location, the food is the disappointment. The corn bread was inedible. Literally, all four in our group took one bite and tossed the rest. Cold, hard and flavorless. I had baked beans for my side. A BBQ staple, right? Again, these were inedible. Two bites and into the garbage. Luke warm and horrible flavor. I did the beans because the last Mission I was at I had the collard greens. Another two-bite and into the garbage experience on that one. I had the two meat platter with chicken and sausage. The chicken was not high quality meat. It was a lot of parts and pieces, was rubbery to eat and left a puddle of grease on my tray. On to the jalapeno sausage. I had this both times I have visited Mission and it was very good both times. I love the concept here and the support of our military, law enforcement, first responders, etc. Because of that, I have not given up on Mission and will try them again. But they need to really up their standards on the food side. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner and workers here are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and outgoing. They answered all my questions and gave me the best bbq sauce for my brisket sandwich (which is good by the way). So when you come here, because you can't not stop here at least once, communicate with the employees because they are awesome and really have knowledge on the business. Ordered takeout (Spare ribs and half chicken) while staying at the TRU Hotel down the road, returned to my room and ended up throwing the food out. Absolutely know texture. As career military and now as a first responder, I had heard all about the connections and dedication of Mission BBQ to both, so I was compelled to try it on a Saturday night for dinner. I was pleased with the heavy-duty decor upon entry... a lot of military, Police, Fire, and EMS stuff on the wall. A full size US Flag hangs from the rafters. My wife and I each ordered a combo, she the 2 meat, and me the 3 meat. We also each upgraded to add the sides and the drinks... she did the XL (one side and a fountain drink) and I did the XXL for 2 sides and the drink. The guy taking the order seemed a bit impatient and totally devoid of care or concern for us as customers. Our bill came to $33.61 for the two meals. We found a table and sat down. It didn't take long before they called our name when it was ready. I appreciated the array of six (6) different BBQ sauces available on the table. (According to their menu, they have ten different sauces but we had six plus vinegar on our table. My meats were Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Turkey. My wife ordered the pulled pork and the Jalapeno/Cheese Sausage. For my sides, the fries were good; the baked beans with brisket were sweet and tasty but there were far more beans than brisket. The corn bread was a little too dry for my liking. All of the meats were tasty but were small portions. The Pulled Pork and the Turkey were very typical but the brisket was not really sliced, nor was it really shredded. More like a ice cream scoop size of stringy beef with some burnt edge in there somewhere. None of it was bad but it certainly wasn't anything special either. I guess the big shocker to me was that none of the meat entries were served hot. They all hovered right around room temp. I'm not sure if this is just the way they do it there or if this was a major oversight. Either way, it turned me off immediately. The other thing that was sort of a turn off for me was the fact that when we went to leave, every drop spot for trays and garbage were overflowing with trash and I had to compress the waste in the barrell in order to get our trash into it without it going onto the floor. I appreciate the fact that the company gets behind many of the causes I personally support and they seem to be generous in their donation policy towards those causes. I suppose I may be able to justify it in my head that the smaller portions are a way to increase margins so they can donate generously, but somehow my cynical side prevents me from freely making that leap. I like the decor, I like the variety, I like the sauces, and the taste was good. I don't, however, seeing me rushing back to this place again anytime soon. Nor do I see it ending up on my list of places that are a part of my normal rotation of go-to locations for exceptional food and service. read more

I've been to several of their locations and all are excellent. The bbq is spot-on and they have a nice menu of choices. Sides i had were excellent and the place is very well run- clean bathrooms and the eating areas as well. Once more, as i find with most of the independently-owned restaurants, very pleasant staff that clearly show how much they appreciate your business. And the fact there is a military involvement in this chain means even more to me..... Very worthwhile to try! read more

I spent a large portion of the pandemic in Brookfield with my family. Eventually we got around to trying Mission BBQ. Honestly, the baby back ribs are the star of the show. Pretty sure I've had all the choices there and the other stuff is quite good but the ribs are exception. They have a subtle almost dry rub seasoning and several choices of bbq sauce as well. Well done Mission BBQ! Today was my first time and I happened to be there at noon. It was chilling (in a great way) to see the staff and patrons stop EVERYTHING to respect our troops with the National Anthem. Everyone stood with hands over heart. Not one person was talking. Very touching. Absolutely amazing! And the food - holy yum! I had the pulled chicken and received enough for 3 meals! It was delicious and fresh! The staff was friendly and outgoing. We had several staff come by and ask if we needed anything, how things were, etc. I will definitely be back, not just for the good food, but for the support they give to our hard working service men and women. We came for lunch and got plenty to eat. Tried the two-meat platter, with brisket and pulled pork. The meat was moist and fairly smoky. Mac and cheese on the side was excellent. All the bbq sauces were good, I liked he one with the state of West Virginia on the label. The name escapes me. There's a very strong military decorating theme in this place. I've never been to the first two places that I am about to mention, but in my imagination this is what you'd get if a Golden Corral, Aldi's and a Boston Market had a love child, minus the buffet and non-BBQ meat options. I ordered the brisket and it was not what I expected. You choose between "lean" and "moist" when you order, and at the time I didn't appreciate that "moist" meant a visible layer of white smushy fat on the pieces. The slices were about 3/4" thick each, and somehow seeing said fat on those big pieces made me not want to eat any of it. I had ordered the green beans and was surprised that they were canned, not fresh. My husband went and got me a side of turkey, which was better, but better in the sense I could eat it. The bbq sauces weren't impressive, and the blueberry cobbler was dry. I really wish I had something better to say. The young man who took our order was very nice. Maybe I'm just bitter because "barbecue" was my 6th grade spelling word - you know, the word that every time you hear it you are reminded of the fact that your dreams of ascending from the 3rd round at your elementary school bee to the nationals were dashed because of it. [The moderator threw me by pronouncing it "barb-a-cue", and I spelled it like any easily influenced 12 year old would, with that fool hardy "a" instead of an "e". My son's spelling bee word was "soiree", which is a much cooler word to go out on.] Anywho, there are better places to get bbq in town, even if they don't have that particular nice server. read more

After eating here 3 times, I've realized Mission BBQ just isn't for me. I will say that I love how they honor America and veterans. I've been there at noon where everything stops for the singing of our national anthem. That was very cool - then they found a veteran in the seating area and publicly thanked him. It was a cool moment. So patriotism aside, the food is only okay. I can only endorse the beef brisket as that is the only menu item above average.
