Let me first start off by saying I'm from Houston, Texas...I'm a Texas girlie so I know my BBQ. Now with that being said this wasn't the worst food; but I wouldn't come back if I had to pay. The sides were amazing though, I must give them that. I had the Mac and Cheese, The green beans and one of the cooks let me try the greens that I happened to miss on the menu and they were all a 10/10!!! I mean they were AMAZING!! The sausage was good (a lil dry) and the brisket...baby I asked for fatty brisket (and I always have to tell ppl I mean the part you'd probably not eat lol, don't judge me) and I swear they gave me the driest leanest slices they could find lol. Now I love the variety of sauces that was dope although me being a Tx girlie "if I need sauce, that means it ain't smoked right or is lacking something" but that's just me. If you're not from the south (which my date ain't) you'd love this place!!! As for my southerners you'd enjoy the sides and the sweet tea. Oh and I tried my date's shredded chicken (another odd choice) and it tasted like baked bbq chicken...oh and the cornbread was dry as hell!! Tasty but like eating a biscuit from Popeyes But anyways the service was great!!! The sides were amazing but the actual bbq left a lot to be desired...again if you're not from the south I can see yall loving this spot.

Been to this location countless times and have always been greeted by the friendly employees. Love listening to music and looking around at all the military memorabilia while dining on quality food. Love this restaurant!

I went there a few hours after completing a 10-mile road race. I was starving when I entered and was stuffed when I left. Initially I was skeptical cause they're a nationwide chain (this was my first visit) and there are so many amazing BBQ joints that are owned and operated by independent proprietors. Well I had an amazing meal will recommend to others.

It's hard not to love Mission BBQ when the staff pour their hearts into making sure you have a great time here! My friends and I couldn't leave Virginia without having some great BBQ. We were so excited to try Mission and felt great supporting a business that gives back to service members. Their decorations honor the memories of those who have served. Staff are very invested in ensuring you have a great time. I wanted to try their special Hawaiian steak but when I asked to have it medium rare, the cashier told me, it's seared for a little longer to give it that char to compliment its flavor. He offered to cook it medium rare for me anyway, but I deferred since I wanted to go with the chef's suggestion. My giant 12 oz steak platter came with cole slaw and a hefty hunk of corn bread. It was definitely more than I could handle. The steak had that great charred BBQ flavor and sweet/savory Hawaiian marinade on the outer edges, but the middle was a little dry for my liking. I still found myself enjoying the juicyness and fatty edges, but found myself reaching for one of the varieties of BBQ sauces when it came to the middle. Speaking of the sauces, they are so generous with allowing you to use as much sauce as you please! There are so six different varieties that you can grab and bring back to your table. We had a lot of fun sampling then. While my steak was good, the brisket was absolute perfection. I don't even like brisket that much, but this brisket was so tender, fatty, and just melted in your mouth. Words escape me as I try to describe how luxurious the brisket tasted, the juicy strips just seem to almost dissolve in y our mouth. Long story short, the brisket is a must try and you can't go wrong with a platter so you can pair the meat with some buttery corn bread and cole slaw. Mission definitely fulfills its mission of serving hearty BBQ with love.

I see mission BBQ akin to what Outback is to steakhouses. The BBQ is decent, reasonably priced and gets the job done, but isn't a place to brag to your friends about. Some hits and misses trying most of the menu. The jalapeño sausage is tasty, I just wish they served the link whole rather than in halves to preserve the juices. The cheesy potatoes were also a winner. Really more creamy than cheesy, but I liked them all the same. St. Louis ribs were tender and falling off the bone with good flavor. That was the best meat of our meal. The misses were the brisket and pulled pork, which both suffered from being too dry and not having much in terms of seasoning. The spare ribs also missed the Mark with lack of seasoning and were nowhere near as tender as the St Louis version. Mission BBQ probably won't win any accolades, but will get the job done if you need a BBQ fix,

The BBQ was wonderful! I loved the smoked turkey, and my husband loved the brisket. The sides were very good! The service was excellent!

Server (Brianna) started out good, fairly attentive until I got my food. After I got my food I got one cursory "all good?" and that was it until I got the bill. Anyway, on to the food: ordered two meat plate (brisket and pulled pork) with fries and coles slaw. Fries were the highlight of the meal. Hot, crispy, seasoned...awesome. Cole slaw was good....but it was super tangy (vinegary) for my taste. Don't get it wrong, it was good, just hard to eat all of it thanks to the tang. On to the meat. Got a pretty good sized pile of pulled pork and a couple slices of brisket. Both meats were lukewarm at best. Pork was dry (thank goodness for the NC vinegar sauce). The brisket made up for the porks dryness, it was extra greasy and extra fatty. Like, for real, do you think people are going to eat the fat layer between the lean point meat and the fatty upper meat? Yeah, not me. But since the brisket was also lukewarm (more like lukecold) it really didn't make a difference. I did think the Vision BBQ sauce tasted pretty good. If Brianna would have come back by after I got my meal I would have sent it back....and probably would have just left without worrying over a replacement, or a comp, or anything. Secondary issue: went to the mens room. It was just nasty. You get once shot to make an impression, and this one was not good. Would not/will not repeat.

Service up front was solid, but the food did not deliver for me. The restaurant is located just off UVA grounds. Plenty of parking maybe should have been a clue. My daughter the pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese. My wife the turkey and shared sides. No one cared for the macaroni as it was flavorless. The wings were good, but small for the price. They say it's a half pound. The baked beans were tasty. My wife liked her turkey, I'm not inclined to recommend or try again. It also burned me that they have a tipping option and do not deliver the food to the table.

The sandwich was pretty tasty and most importantly, the turkey wasn't dry! The slices were pretty thick (almost 1/2" thick). I would have preferred slightly thinner and just more pieces, but good flavor. The combination of the turkey with white sauce, slaw, and pickles made for a tasty bite. The sides were a mixed bag. Pretty good overall, but I could have taken 25% of the salt on the greens and added it to the casserole! The casserole may have had enough salt, but with the greens so salty, the squash seemed slightly under seasoned. I usually don't comment on bathrooms, but the hand dryer being located directly above the toilet was pretty gross. No paper towels either. I used my shirt to turn the knob with wet hands and grab a paper towel from one of the tables. Again, staff was great. The food was pretty good, but I'm not a fan of the bathrooms!

To me, a good bite of brisket, should be like a good bite of steak, no sauce required. Here sauce is required so there is enough moisture in your mouth to swallow. Same with ribs. Well, at the register we were advised, "we don't serve them here, only the Crozet location." So my wife recommended that they be lined out or taken off the menu option, we were told by the cashier, "I have no control over that" and when suggested he lets the manager or own know, a reply of "yeah" and a chuckle was under his breath. The restaurant is still clean and well presentable but the friendliness and excitement from the employees is lacking from before when the Crozet location was not open. So as for the food now, disappointment continues. The French Fries, as pictured and video, are not cooked all of the way. The pulled chicken is dry and over cooked. The sides are 1/2 the previous sizes, look at the pictures, and the side of chicken salad for $5 is not even enough for a sandwich. Guess it's time to look for another BBQ place to go to since $45 equates to uncooked food and 1/2 servings....rather disappointing when I was such a fan. If this is fixed, I will update but for now...maybe it's back to Vision BBQ downtown Charlottesville.
