Server (Brianna) started out good, fairly attentive until I got my food. After I got my food I got one cursory "all good?" and that was it until I got the bill. Anyway, on to the food: ordered two meat plate (brisket and pulled pork) with fries and coles slaw. Fries were the highlight of the meal. Hot, crispy, seasoned...awesome. Cole slaw was good....but it was super tangy (vinegary) for my taste. Don't get it wrong, it was good, just hard to eat all of it thanks to the tang. On to the meat. Got a pretty good sized pile of pulled pork and a couple slices of brisket. Both meats were lukewarm at best. Pork was dry (thank goodness for the NC vinegar sauce). The brisket made up for the porks dryness, it was extra greasy and extra fatty. Like, for real, do you think people are going to eat the fat layer between the lean point meat and the fatty upper meat? Yeah, not me. But since the brisket was also lukewarm (more like lukecold) it really didn't make a difference. I did think the Vision BBQ sauce tasted pretty good. If Brianna would have come back by after I got my meal I would have sent it back....and probably would have just left without worrying over a replacement, or a comp, or anything. Secondary issue: went to the mens room. It was just nasty. You get once shot to make an impression, and this one was not good. Would not/will not repeat.

They also baked a beautiful cutting cake and delivered brunch to the lodge we were at the following morning for everyone to enjoy. Overall an incredible vendor who expertly provided us multiple wedding services.

Mission BBQ in Charlottesville, Virginia, is one such place that deserves the highest praise. As a decorated and disabled US Army combat veteran, I am proud to patronize Mission BBQ, and I encourage others to do the same. During my recent visit to Mission BBQ, I had the pleasure of indulging in their Meat Sampler, and it was a feast fit for a patriot. The sampler included a generous portion of mouthwatering 1/4 LB Pulled Pork, perfectly tender and bursting with flavor. The 1/4 LB Sliced Brisket was an absolute delight, moist and succulent, showcasing their mastery of this BBQ classic. Accompanying the meats were two bone spare ribs, cooked to perfection with a heavenly smoky aroma. Each bite was a reminder of the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into their BBQ. To complete the meal, I opted for the XXL option, which included two sides and a fountain drink. The Cold Slaw was refreshing and complemented the richness of the meats beautifully. Amazing food, more amazing service! Mission BBQ offers a wonderful selection of meats, the turkey and yard bird are amazing, as well as delicious sides and various sauces. All BBQ sauce options are on the table and vary in flavor. The Bay-B-Q is my favorite, it has a hint of old bay, going MD style! The service is like no other place in Charlottesville. Danielle and Deanna are usually at the registers where you order. They go out of their way to smile, make you laugh and get to know you. They alone are worth coming here. Siena (I'm probably butchering her name) works the floor and is always super kind and friendly. They will refill drinks, clear your trash and anything else you need while you're enjoying your meal. I've yet to have a bad experience here and we come at least 2 times a week. It's a great place and totally worth the money! read more

I have been "lucky enough" to experience a national anthem moment. Imagine it, you are in the middle of having your ribs and then they announce that at noon you are supposed to get up and honor the flag. Really .. really? With your hands greasy in the middle of your ribs. Whoever conceived this idea must be a certified idiot. My advice, never come here around noon. PS. The food was OK. We have plenty of places in Charlottesville with better BBQ. I had the most terrible stomach cramps after eating here. It is quite unlikely that I will have another meal here ever again. read more
