We've eaten at a few of the Mission BBQs, but this was our first time trying the Hagerstown location. I've gotta say we were all very pleased!! We had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and Maggie's mac-n-cheese and the chopped brisket sandwich (which comes already sauced with Memphis Belle) with coleslaw and baked beans. I've got to say both were really delicious and very plentiful!! It was nice to try all of the sauces on the pulled pork before finally deciding on our group favorite...Bay-B-Q. My husband's 2nd favorite was the Tupelo Honey Heat. The mac-n-cheese was excellent and left us wanting more!! Also...the sweet tea is perfection, as is the lemonade!! read more

The food here has to be one of my top favorites of all restaurant, i haven't tried anything so far that I haven't enjoyed. They have good service for the most part, and it's a nice environment to sit and have lunch or dinner with others. read more

This week was our first trip to Mission BBQ. It was great!!! The food was excellent and the service was superior also. I got a turkey sandwich and fries and both were really delicious. My husband got the brisket and loved it. We will defiantly be going back. The restaurant was clean and we really like the anthem being played at 12 noon. read more

Oh my goodness absolutely delicious. I had the 2 meat dinner. I could not make up my mind. The salmon and brisket. I was really looking forward to checking this spot out because of the good reviews. I'm not out this way much, so when I happened to be out here and hungry, this was a top option! You order first and then wait to grab your tray of BBQ. I LOVE LOVE LOVE greens, so that was my first part of the order. I also went with the brisket, which you have a choice between the fatty and leaner meat. I went fatty, dah, more flavor! Then finally I ordered the fries. I picked up my order and went outside to their small patio. Nice scenic view of Kohls... But I digress. I was bummed first off because my items were room temp to on the colder side. Not sure what their process is, in terms of are these items pre-made and heated up? I assume they're not fresh out of the even, and it tasted that way. My brisket was cold, dry and not very flavorful. It almost seemed like they accidentally gave me the lean meat. There really wasn't much fat on it at all. The greens were drowning in vinegar and water and ended up being more liquid than actual greens. A little too salty too. The only thing that would have been good was the fries. But they were cold too. Out of the six BBQ sauces I really liked the smoked one the most. All the others were a wash. I'm not sure if I'd be back to this location, it was just disappointing. read more

This place has some righteous cue! I've sampled over 100 different styles, flavors and cuts of BBQ from across the nation and it's nice to have authentic smoked cue right in my backyard! The The bark on the smoked brisket is fantastic and the flavors of the pulled pork were outstanding accompanied by the super juiciness of the smoked turkey. My wife and I enjoyed the sides of coleslaw and barbecue baked beans and sweet potato with loads of meat in the BBQ beans and just the right amount of vinegar and mayo in the coleslaw. We finished out the meal with a fantastic deliciously blended blueberry cobbler which is to die for and is a must-have if you ever come for the barbecue. To get this quality of BBQ I would have to travel to Hog Wild BBQ in Warren Pa. or a few select smokehouses in and around Austin Texas. Trust me when I say you need to make room for this perhaps wearing your stretchy pants and coming with a big appetite after fasting for the day but you will not be disappointed. One of the best things on Mission BBQ's menu is their brisket - it is delicious! Having lived in Florida for several years with other BBQ franchises like Sonny's and such, it is good to have a decent BBQ place in Hagerstown like this. Excellent food and service. I had the triple sampler with smoked brisket, port, and Turkey. All three were delicious. I had the Maggie's Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans. They were both really good. As far as the sauces, Texas Twang was probably the best by itself. Smokey Mountain, Memphis Belle we're also good. I'm sure their Bay-B-Que would be good on their Salmon but I personally didn't care for it. KC Classic was ok but not my personal favorite. The Tupelo Honey Heat was also good but it's more of a glaze so I would suggest using it sparingly. I found if you mix the Texas Twang with a touch of Smokey Mountain then you have created the best combination. Now for the NC Vinegar Mix 'ER Up they have on the table. This my friend is a secret weapon! Splash on prior to adding sauce and you have a hit! Also, the fact that this place supports Veterans will in turn mean that they will also get my support. This is a wonderful place. The food is the best, the meat is tender and tasty. Tonight I had baby back ribs. The sauces are tasty, flovorful. Not overwhelmingly sweet. 6 different kinds. The sides are good...coleslaw , fries, beans, more. You get cornbread too. The desserts are heavenly, IF you have room for that! Everyone who works there is SO nice and so helpful. I hate giving this place a 3 star review. I love their military lifestyle and what they do for the military. However, I can not praise the food. I had the brisket, pulled pork and jalapeño sausage 3 meat sampler. The brisket was dry and lacked any substantial flavor. 2 star The pulled pork was okay, I wouldn't go back just for it. 3 star The jalapeño sausage, this was very good. Juicy and very flavorful. 5 star The fries were good, not freshly prepared but they still tasted good. 3 star The Mac and cheese was run of the mill. 3 star They do have some good bbq sauces and the ranch is good. I know a lot of people give this place great reviews. So, I am hoping they just had an off night. Since I am not from the area, I am not sure if I will get to try this particular restaurant again. Absolute banger of a bbq place. Ive tried just about everything on the menu and I love it all. Prices are a little steep considering its $5 for side and drink however I always find myself paying it because i believe its worth it. If you like bbq, brisket, pulled meat, etc this is your place. Aside from the excellent food, the service at this restaurant was far superior to many other locations with higher price points. While visiting my old hometown, I stopped in to Mission BBQ on the recommendation of my son. They did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel welcome. The overall atmosphere is unique, and uplifting. I could rave about the food all day, but instead, I would like everyone to know about the Manager, Jamie Atlee. While making her rounds, Jamie stopped by my table and asked us about our experience. To put it in to context, I visited this location the day prior with my 2 sons. It was so good, I came back the next day and brought my parents and my sons once again. I wanted someone else to experience this great place. Not only was Jamie sincere and honest, she was genuinely concerned about our experience. She is definitely an asset to Mission Barbecue and it truly a person who embodies customer service. This is probably an odd review for a BBQ restaurant but I'm on a diet so I went with the salmon I've always loved everything that they serve especially there cornbread but i had never had there salmon so I was a little apprehensive to get salmon from a bbq joint , well this salmon blew me out of the water !! Let me say one of the best pieces of salmon I've ever had in my entire life so if you aren't in the mood for bbq and the family is try the salmon you won't be sorry !! I am so glad my friend saw this sign when we were traveling back to CT. All I can say is wow. Super friendly service. The food was insanely flavorful and there were tons of BBQ sauce to choose from. My recommendation is to not too much though or you'll miss out on that good flavor. I got the pulled pork and the baked beans. Easily enough to satisfy me. The staff chatted with me and actually seemed interested to hear what I was saying. I don't do a lot of reviews but these people really shined as stars to me.
