Awesome burgers and heavenly fries. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait because seating is minimal but worth it for, arguably, the best burger in the state. Order at the counter and receive a dinosaur token to identify you and your order will be delivered promptly and accurately. Bleh. I can't get over how overrated this place is. It's in a touristy/hipster location which must be why it's so popular. It's overpriced and the burgers are small and bland, nothing special about them. The fries are decent, hot dogs decent. The drinks are overpriced, and the place has very limited seating. Last time I went there my babe and I got a burger and fries each, we got a hot dog too and we both ordered drinks. It came out to over $50. I personally think that's ridiculous for a burger joint. After a day in Newport visiting the mansions, we stopped in for a burger. Kids all had a burger and my sister and I split one and some fries. First off, I wish I had ordered my own burger as it was so yummy. The micro greens and quality taste of the meat far surpassed our expectations. The French fries are hand cut and their home fermented sour kraut and pickles were a great accompaniment for the dinner. Went to Mission this afternoon for lunch with my boyfriend. He ordered the cheeseburger, I got the crautdog, and we shared a fry. First, wowza on the fries!! The weather was warm for a February day so they had a couple windows open. The crowd was diverse and everyone seemed happy to be at Mission for some great food. You order at the counter and there are several burger and hot dog options. We went for the cheeseburger, fries, and a dog. I ended up with the Chicago dog since they were out of coleslaw for the coleslaw dog. We got our food fairly quickly and ate a small bar table. It was crazy busy for a dinner service on a Saturday night, but some stealthy table-scoping skills will serve you well. I have perfected the "stand nearby but with back turned and nearly-finished table in peripheral vision so as not to be staring awkwardly willing them to finish their food" technique. I swooped in on the table the moment their butts left the stools. Seating is very limited, although there were some spots available at the narrow ledges that line the room. Ventilation leaves something to be desired so understand you will smell like burgers when you leave. Whatever. I'd bathe in their burger juices if I could. My beer and burger with fries ran about $17, which is a good deal for Newport and frankly for anywhere considering the level of quality and craftsmanship that went into the meal. Super yummy. Eating a burger from here has probably made me unable to eat one anywhere else. The patty is made of fresh ground meat and was inexplicably juicy. I've never had a burger so juicy that each bite was absolutely mouthwatering. The patties are thick and no joke. This is applied to their fries as well. They are cut very thick , almost like a steak fry. The potatoes are grown in Newport and you can taste a real potato instead of freezer fries. I did my research and apparently this is the best burger in RI, so I drove 40 minutes from Providence, and paid two tolls for this burger ! The working staff was really friendly. The burgers are good, yes, but I paid $10 for a relatively plain burger with no fries. 2 burgers, fries to split, and 2 beers came to a whopping $34 before tip. Seems a little steep for some grilled meat. The burger was tasty, but it was overcooked. The mission sauce they put on it was also yummy, but it looked like there was but a mere teaspoon on the bun, and naturally there was an up charge if we wanted extra. The beer selection was pretty solid, though, and the service was great, I'm just not understanding how more people don't have a problem with the prices. I felt that there could have been a little bit more, like a piece of lettuce or more pickles. I added some grilled jalapenos and cheese to mine because I'm hooked on all things spicy and melted cheese. I had a brief moment of confusion when our food was delivered. I can see that this place could get really busy during peak hours (lunch) and I noticed they had a bench outside, so lines are probable during lunch. They have quite a few choices for burgers.
