Came in on a Tuesday night (during July) and two of us were able to get a seat right away. We were greeted as we walked in and flagged to the counter to explain that you order and then they bring the food to you. I have been wanting to try Mission since they did a collaboration with PVDonuts (they provided the burgers), which I really enjoyed. I opted for the Mickey D burger and added bacon and cheese. We split a side of fries. The food came out within 15 min and upon first sight, I don't know what looked better, the burger patty or the thick cut bacon atop it. Luckily, both would be enjoyed at the same time. The first bite provided a juicy burger cooked just right, along with onions and pickles, and that amazing bacon. The fries were equally delicious. So happy I finally made it down to try this place, but now I want to make the 45 min drive weekly just to get the burger. Definitely recommend and plan on coming back. read more

I gave these guys one lousy task. ONE! Please cook my Kobe burger medium well. I can't eat pink chop meat. $20 later and what did I get? A very small handful of fries, a warm soda and a medium rare Kobe burger on a pink mushy bun that was bleeding everywhere by the time I got home. I called them up pretty angry and told them exactly that to which they responded cheerfully, just bring it back. Guess what. I'm at the end of the friggen island. No, I'm not driving down there and back again to get another one. It's a 20 minute drive each way. Times that by 4 and it's an hour and 20 minutes of driving for a hamburger. Visited the newer one in Middletown the other day for dinner. We ordered 2 hot dogs, three cheeseburgers and a basket of fries. The guy taking the order seemed to struggle with the order as my child wanted a plain cheeseburger with meat and cheese only yet round 1 he entered hamburger, round 2 he said it back correctly and yet round 3 it came to the table with lettuce and mission sauce. After I scraped off the sauce he did come by and ask if I wanted fixed which was nice but not sure why the ball was dropped to begin with. We were the only people in the restaurant at the time of ordering. Oh well the rest of the food was good. Burgers cooked to the excellent medium rareness and fried nice and hot and crispy. Love this joint! Super chill atmosphere and delightful burgers. A very simple menu, but the food is top notch. The burgers taste like they're made of real meat, not some gross burger filler. The flavors of the toppings really shine. The hot dogs are ground and cased on site and are definitely worth a try. They have a good selection of local beers (cans only). Fries come in a huge basket, definitely enough for two to share. Cute dinosaurs for table markers. Service is quick and you bus your own table, so the prices stay low! Some free parking available in the neighborhood across Marlborough but it takes some finding. Near several of the off-Thames parking lots (~$15-20 on wknds). But when I came up for air, there were used napkins, an empty basket, and a very full me. This is the sister restaurant of Winner Winner fried chicken. They have burgers, hot dogs and fries. Their burgers and hot dogs are ground and made i house! I got a hot dog and it was really good! Mission is probably one of the more popular food places on Yelp in Newport. Given the volume of tourists, that's actually saying something. The place itself is pretty bare bones. They also have the smallest bathroom I've ever seen in a restaurant. Rather than giving you a number to put on your table, Mission gives you toy dinosaurs. Granted this is absolutely fucking stupid. But I absolutely fucking love dinosaurs, so it works for me. Good local beer selection too. The burger I'd describe as a better version of Shake Shack. Double patties, basic American cheese, and with a special orange sauce. Everything here is cooled to a similar level of doneness. I liked the bun here and the meat meat better though. It was clearly fresh and hit the spot at the time. The fries were also really good. Overall I wouldn't made this out to be more than a really good burger joint, but granted that's all they're trying to be. Considering the reasonable price point in Newport, well done. read more

I rarely give 5 stars, and this is one of the times that I think the food is so good that it outweighs any other flaws that one would perceive about this establishment. Service: friendly, fast and efficient; however I don't see why they would prompt you to tip them 20% when they don't really provide true "service" to the diners. Food: where do I begin? The burgers are so fresh, I recommend medium well cooked burgers and they are so juicy and never frozen tasting. I was told that they get their meat fresh from a farm in Portsmouth or Middletown (I forgot which one). The fries are nicely fried and salted and ever so crispy. The sauce they use is great and compliments the burger nicely. The hotdogs taste fresh but are a little on the salty side. I think the french fries are probably my second favorite. Democracy brewery in Boston has some pretty amazing french fries. Pretty decent place to get a burger! Came in on a Wednesday afternoon with a couple of friends. There were a few customers inside but not too busy. The restaurant is a little small, I can see it becoming difficult to find seating on a busy day. There are a few round tables with stools that can accommodate some larger groups and there are some high top tables available too. The menu consists of a variety of burgers (a bit on the pricier side at $8.25-$9.75), hotdogs ($3.50-$5.75), and a falafel sandwich ($6.75; for those of you who are vegetarian). They serve hand-cut fries ($3.25) and offer some additional toppings ($.50-$1) for your burger or hotdog. The burgers are made with 100% beef and their hotdogs are made of beef and pork mixed together (I am not sure if there is a 100% beef hotdog available). They grind all their burgers in-house and they grind and case their hot-dogs in-house as well. The girl at the front counter was very sweet and friendly. She informed us that they use canola oil for their fries and she informed me that if I'd like, they can cook my burger on a separate area of the grill that has not been contacted with bacon or hotdog. Since I can't eat pork and would prefer not to eat anything that has come in contact with pork, I really appreciated her telling me about this option. I was a little hesitant to cause any inconvenience for the cook, but she insisted that it was okay. So I think they are really accommodating and will go out of their way for some dietary restrictions you may have! My friends and I opted for the cheeseburger and hand-cut fries. Cheese options include American, cheddar, Swiss, or aged cheddar (aged cheddar is for an addition 50 cents). The burger comes with lettuce, red onion, and mission sauce. One of my friends ordered his with aged cheddar. I asked for regular cheddar and for a fried egg on top. The girl at the counter asked if I wanted the egg cooked or runny, which I also really appreciated! Definitely went for the runny egg. As for the meat, they cook their burgers medium unless otherwise specified. They give you little dinosaurs instead of table cards to mark your order, which I thought was a cute quirky aspect about the place. The food did not take long to arrive. Everyone really enjoyed their food. The fries are thick and crispy. The burgers were smaller than I thought they would be but they fit nicely in your hand without being messy. It's still filling. The patty is thick and the burgers were juicy! My fried egg was indeed runny. Normally when I ask for a fried egg on my burger at other establishments they cook it for too long - but these guys got it right! I don't think burgers have to be complicated with lots of toppings to be good. This is a nice place to get a simple, juicy and satisfying burger. No frills. Overall we were happy about our meals.
