I should have checked Yelp before bringing my car here for an interior detail which cost $135. Here is what I experienced on Wednesday. I dropped my car off at 8:30am when they opened. I picked up my car 5 hours later. It was obvious that they had not even touched the inside of the windshield, so before I left, I complained. Raul was quite nice and quickly redid all of the windows. I asked to speak to the manager. Brian was not apologetic and said that the windshield had just been wiped down. I persisted that I was dissatisfied, and he gave me a card for a free hand-wash. The hand wash only costs $30, so 20% of what I paid... He was clearly not interested in making sure that his customer was satisfied - so I drove home. Later in the day, I was still fuming with dissatisfaction, so I went back. Brendan was the on-duty manager. I explained to him why I was dissatisfied. I do not believe that my car was detailed, it appeared that I only received a hand-wash. Brendan claimed that he had been there earlier in the day and witnessed my car being detailed. He said that there was nothing more he could do for me. Again, he was not interested in making the situation right. I am writing this review several days later, and I can barely stand to be in my car - it smells like a dirty rag. I wish I had checked and believed the Yelp reviews. This place is a hit or miss. I've taken the car there a few times for the Gold car wash, which includes vacuuming and dashboard cleaning. On one occasion, worker only put the tire shine on half of the tires. On another, a worker did not clean the dash and console at all. On yet another, some popcorn crumbs were still clearly visible on the passenger floor. I only keep going with them for lack of having another place nearby that's as convenient as they are. read more

Awful awful car wash. I would not even come back if it were free. Didn't even dry my windows so there's streaks everywhere. Still dirt all over the carpet like they never even vacuumed. They use towels with extra lint so it looks like my car has more dust inside than when I brought it in. I never get my car washed because I just don't really care. So when I brought my whip here to get a bath I had zero expectations. I only wash her when I can barely see out of the windows. So any washing is probably a good one. It seemed to be busy as there were roughly 8-10 people sitting outside waiting. There are plenty of seats for the patrons to relax and read at. They actually have a basket with a ton of magazines to peruse through while they wait. I opted to play a highly addictive game on my phone. After burning my eyeballs staring at my phone screen a man called out that my car was ready. I walked over, handed him my receipt and tipped him nicely. I tip well when someone is doing a job I know I would suck at. I checked around the outside and it looked awesome. Almost new. As I hopped in I noticed the windows were clean, the seats and rugs were vacuumed and even the dash board had been wiped down. There were a few little spots the gentleman missed, but all in all she looked clean. It was $22 and I believe it is a smidgen over priced, but I rarely get her cleaned so I'm not breaking the bank on this. I'm sure I will be returning. read more

I used rave about this place but quality has definitely gone down. Took my car there this past Sunday for full hand wash. Came out to $25 without tip add $4 for tip and you're looking at close to $30 for a wash no wax. I have a black car and it was hot but I opted for the hand wash because I did not want swirls. I waited for over an hour for my car to see the attendant stall it twice because he didn't know how to drive stick or know where reverse is. I was just happy to get my car back and looking closer at the job they did I'm never going back. Water spots on mirrors, windshield and back window, noticeable streaks, Water spots all over including on chrome trim pieces. On top of that they left cleaning residue on my steering wheel and interior trim pieces. If they were still using filtered water there would be no water spots. read more

It's a Wednesday morning and there was 1 car ahead of me in the car wash. Have now been here 40 min according to the date/time stamp on my receipt. Have a receipt already because they make you pre-pay for gas before your car wash to bring the gas price down by $.20/gallon. FYI.... it's still almost $1/gallon more than Costco about 3 miles away. You have to guess about the amount of gas you need and preform so math in line to get it right based on the discount. But hey at least everyone here is so friendly. read more

As I was driving by, I saw a worker drop his drying rag on the ground, pick it up and continue using it to dry a customer's car. This is completely unacceptable, since the dirt on the rag will scratch the clear coat. I would never bring my car here (or any other place that is not a dedicated high-end detailing shop) and subject it to this type of negligence. read more

I have taken both of our cars for detailing and the service is quick. Get there early. Like EARLY if you don't want to wait for an hour plus. The cars have always been very nicely finished and they even squeezed me in for a new battery while I was there! Thanks guys for all your help! read more

Best hand wash ever for me. My car was a mess and they cleaned it up. And only $22 The wait was about 30 minutes and they told me that's how long it would be. I took a walk down to Best Buy and when I got back my car was shined up and ready to go. They seriously did not miss a spot. I hate spending money on car washes and I hate any up sell. Used to be fairly happy with this place, but they've successfully just lost a customer. I decided to get my Jeep washed during my lunch break from work. I pulled up and the guy proceeded to tell me that I need one of the more expensive washes because it "is covered in bugs and yellow stuff". There were no bugs on my car, and the "yellow stuff" was pollen that I could rub off with my finger. I opted for a silver wash, but would've had more luck with a bucket of water myself. There is still dirt and marks all over my car. At one point there was 6-7 people washing it, because clearly it was a slow afternoon. And yet they still couldn't get it clean! The only reason I take my car to get washed by someone else, is because my apartment complex lacks a car wash bay. Needless to say, I will not be taking my car back to this place. read more

Do not go here! I am livid! I went in for an oil change ($45) and apparently they do a free car wash with an oil change purchase. So I'm sitting there for 45 min...an hour...an hour and 15 minutes before I finally go to see what's taking so long. I see my car just sitting there parked on the other side of the shop. So I say "um is my car done?" And the mechanic goes "oh yeah." So nobody was going to tell me this information?! I'd say I probably sat there 30 min after my car was done and nobody informed me. My husband and I go here for the car washes. Definitely our go-to place. Usually we get the 100% hand wash. They will vacuum the inside, do floor mats, wipe down everything, do your windows (inside and out). Never really had an issue! Last time I got my car washed the front bumper just had a couple spots that were missed but when I brought it in, there were a lot of dead bugs so I'm impressed by what they were able to get off anyway! read more

I got the complete detail and it was not worth the money. It looked no greater than a basic quick wash. There were spots all over my car along with new water marks. They also stole the floor mat for the driver seat of my car and tried to tell me that there was no mat there when I gave it to them. I recommend checking out another car wash spot. Do NOT waste your money here. I am still seething at how little muscle they put into cleaning my interior. It looks like they took an oily rag and just brushed off my seats. I have a child so crumbs get everywhere which is why I get it "DETAILED" when I can afford it. The whole back seat did not get done. They covered it in my daughter's blanket and when I moved it they hadn't touched the seats at all. The guy even cursed at me in Spanish before quickly rubbing his rag over the area and sending me on my way. Crumbs in the seams, console , and cup holders. This Shell station has a small convenient store, a car wash and an auto repair dock. According to Gas Buddy, it is much higher priced compared to other gas stations in the surrounding area. It's located right off Friars road being somewhat of a halfway gas station marker between Mission Valley Mall or Fashion Valley Mall. Getting in and out is not much of a hassle due to its spacious layout. Overall, aside from the amenities and convenience, I would not come to this station unless I was being paid to do so and/or the gas is free. You are much better off driving an extra 10 minutes for a significant price reduction. read more

the absolute best deal car wash I have found - the starting level of $10 for a car is absolutely a great value. I have been using them for about 4 years and have never had a problem with scratches. they take the time to clean mats (albeit for the next level of service) and they will even do a handwash for about $20 (great if you need alot of detail after last weekend's 4-wheeling trip in Mammoth ;) Highly recommended, but alot of people know about it, so go early (think they open at 8:30am) or you'll be waiting for awhile. read more

DO NOT ever bring your vehicle to the Mission Valley Shell!!! I had my car washed there recently. They didn't shampoo my floor mats as promised and payed for. To add to that they damaged my front floor mat by ripping it off the velcro that secures it to the floor tearing it apart. I went back to talk to the owner so they could pay for the damage or replace my ruined floor mat and he refused saying it was normal wear and tear! He was a complete jerk. I had my 2007 Toyota Rav4 due for its 120,000 maintenance. The estimate I received when I dropped off the car end up being accurate as they found no surprises. Brennan performed the maintenance very well. On the way home I noticed the car had more pep. Perhaps it was due to a changing of the spark plugs. They told me I still had 80% front and 60% back on brake pads. And in full disclosure, I met Brennan through a friend a couple of weeks ago. I come here every now and then for gas, but I'm rating this based on my smog check experience. I thought getting a smog check was a brutal, pain-in-the-ass, wait forever type of ordeal.. it's not. The guy was super friendly and my car was ready in about 40 minutes. i just went to lunch, came back, and my registration was on its way. This is literally my first review ever but I felt compelled; basic wash, I'm told, does not include anything being done to my wheels; nothing, zilch, nada...they won't take a towel, soap or water to them. The cost for a wash that included cleaning the wheels was 17.99 for my SUV. Rediculous; I don't need a wheel "treatment", just the basics like every other car wash I've had done for the past 25 years. Finally I found a quality, honest and inexpensive place to get my car serviced. I had an issue with another car service place so I had a friend recommend Mission Valley Shell. Not only did they quote me more than a $1000 less then the other place but after inspecting the car the repair the other place said I needed wasn't. Brain was really cool about it he could have done the repair and charged me for it but instead he was honest and said "no you don't need that repair and I'm not going to do a repair and charge you if it's not needed." My car is running smooth and I am ecstatic I have finally found a nice, honest and reputable car service station. read more

This car wash sucks. This morning I went to have my car washed. They did not even spray water on my wheels to take the brake dust off! Then when I asked them to clean the dirt on the wheels, the "illegal" car wash staff wanted to charge me $5 more for taking the brake dust off the wheels! Mind you, I did not want to have no cleaning or service to the tires. So, I did what I could the best in this situation. I just cleaned it myself, I did not tip them the usual $2 that I tip! The "illegal" just blew his tip! I will never go back to this place again. Whoever wrote the other two reviews must be related to the owners.
