Sunday afternoon. What to do, what to do? Wander into semi-sketchy looking bar in the Hong Kong Supermarket shopping center? Sure, why not? A Bloody Mary and 5 or 6 mimosas later (I lost count), I was glad I did. Mister Tramps is in an awkward location, but everything else about the place is pretty much right on the money. The staff is cool, the food is better than decent, and the drink specials are great. I wasn't crazy about the Pot Luck Pork sandwich which was recommended by our bartender/server, but the Vegabond pizza was pretty good and the Corn and Crawfish Bisque was delicious. Hubs stuck with beer the whole time, but I took Tramps up on the $4 Bloody Mary & $2 Mimosa weekend special. Great success. read more

We just flew into Austin and wanted to find a sports bar to grab some lunch and watch the Masters. This place was exactly what we needed! The place seemed to have a lot of regulars, but that didn't change how the waitstaff treated us. The bartenders/waitresses were great and even gave my boyfriend samples of local beers when she found out we were from out of town. What impressed me the most was the food!! I expected typical bar food, but the quality and presentation of the food was on another level. I had to try the crawfish bisque after all the reviews and Yelpers, you nailed it! Every sip was full of flavor and creamy goodness. The club sandwich was also perfect. If you add pesto mayo to anything, you have yourself a winner. I didn't get the chance to check this place out on Yelp before heading over there - so from the looks of the place, I felt like it was just going to provide some average bar food. That's all fine and dandy when you're there for the sports - so it rocked that the pizza was scrumptious (when's the last time you used that word?). My friend said that his BLT rocked it... but he was drunk, so who knows. But it sure did look awesome. Yupper Tramps is a dive bar and is in desperate need of a good hosing down but it is a great place to catch a game. There is an extensive craft beer selection, daily drink and food specials. We both ordered the Philly cheese steaks and onion rings. The sandwich was delicious and the rings were fried to perfection. We both loved the fresh rolls and the large deli pickle spear. I'm sure Tramps will be rocking this upcoming Sunday for the Dallas - Philly football game. I, obviously, will be elsewhere (Insert grin here!). I wouldn't have thought to come here as it's in kind of a weird spot with an unassuming exterior. However last night I stopped in for their Wednesday night comedy open mic and had a ton of fun! It's a cool sports bar with ample inside and outside seating. Drink prices are pretty average with a good selection of beers on tap. Not being into sports, it wouldn't have been my go-to bar, but the comedy open mic was totally worth the trip. Will be back! Wow, their drink specials are unbelievable. Came here on a Monday evening for their $5 well pitchers. Let that soak in for a minute....not $5 wells (which would agreeably be overpriced) but $5 well PITCHERS. Not only that but they have a back room set up with game consoles and as my girlfriend and I were walking in a game of Super Smash Bros Melee was being played on the back wall. That is a nice little touch. The music doesn't really fit the vibe but maybe it was just one bartenders preference that night. It was a nice place to have a drink and not be bothered. We ordered the drunken chips and queso. As the description says it is their "Signature queso mellowed with Shiner Bock beer..." Mellow is an accurate description of the queso...it looks similar to Chili's queso but lacks some flavor. It was edible but I probably wouldn't order it again. My boyfriend and I tried to go here this evening, but were turned away because the condition of his ID/too worn out: "Usually a very chill place, been here several times... but had an awful experience with the waitress on the patio. She denied me entry b/c a worn corner on my ID. I understand she's just tying to do her job, but she had a huge attitude when she greeted us and after I asked for the manger." So ridiculous since we have been to this bar before and I remember she specifically has served our table more than once. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and just assume she didn't want to make the extra money and work because the patio was already almost full [we sat at the last open table]- but don't put out extra tables for guests if you don't want to serve them is all I have to say. I used to go to Tramps at least once a week back between 2013 and 2014 for Geeks Who Drink and have come sporadically since. It's the only bar I've ever felt comfortable in, and it's one I always recommend when I'm looking for something to do north central. Pros: -GREAT food which has been consistent throughout my years coming here. The southcoast turkey sandwich and fried pickles are my go tos -Great drink selection and specials. Mondays used to be $5 well pitchers but now they're $5 doubles. Wednesdays I believe are still $3 wells and Saturday and Sunday are $2.50 mimosas. -It's an awesome place to work remotely. I used to go to coffee shops because that's what you do, but the bar has ironically been far less noisy and people are entirely less bothersome even when a game is on. -The staff has always been pretty solid, nice and accommodating, prompt and friendly -Good parking when it's not crazy crowded for Geeks Who Drink, if it's a Wednesday night, get there early. -Spacious covered patio Cons: -They used to play really awesome music, but recently it's been...not my favorite, but that's on me -Bad parking on busy nights -It'd be cool to have more outlets, but obviously that's not what the place was made for read more

Good environment and great service, all beers are fairly cheap if you're more of a liquor person $3 wells all day everyday. On Sundays multiple football games are on. Midnight special is a great deal buy a pitcher and get a pizza for $1. Definitely will be back. read more

I want to love this place but they just won't let me. First time we went we loved it so much we returned the same day for dinner. Thought we hit the jackpot and found our new spot. We were dead wrong. Only time we have gotten good service was the first visit, her name was rosie. We have returned at least 10 times hoping to repeat the excellent food only to be disappointed. The crawfish and corn bisque used to be like heaven in a cup, yes overpriced but worth it. Now food is close to ineddible. Two months ago we swore we would not return, after today I know that statement to be true. Service is terrible, food is at times unedible, way over priced, and completely inconsistent. I have always wanted to try the MAC and cheese yet refuse to spend $10. Today I listened to the cook coughing praying it wasn't my food she was preparing. We will not return until world cup and we will not be eating. Almost forgot a month ago I called to see if they were showing the UFC fight..the response I got "is it a pay per view event?" Not 100% sure if you're a competitive person? Head to Mister Tramp's Wednesday night trivia. When it was initially proposed to me, I thought I might sit on the sidelines and have a few laughs. Now I squeal like an evil king who has successfully pillaged an entire village by midday. They have food too. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, and they're pretty huge so I usually share or take half home. It comes with some alright potato salad, which I sometimes order all by itself. And I otherwise usually hate the stuff. The specials are nice, which is why yesterday I got a $3 well drink, and then ate almost an entire pizza by myself. Sure, it's personal sized, but I normally can't put away as much in one sitting. But it was gooo-oood: brie, figs, garlic, uh... well see, the drink was strong. That's what I'm trying to say. I can barely remember eating that delicious pizza. Wish the ingredients had been better-dispersed, this I recall. Yeah they are a little short-staffed sometimes. But the staff they do have is super cool (props to Russell for tolerating our obnoxious crew with a smile). And really, any place that hosts a dance off to break a tie is bonafide in my book. One note: you may wake up expecting mounds of fresh breads on your kitchen counter. This is because your clothes from last night smell yeasty, and you might think you'd sleep-walked yourself into bread-making, a feat you may not have accomplished previously in your life. Okay, here's the deal. I've been here a few times with friends, and a few times to watch certain sports events. All in all maybe 8 times. I don't know why. So here's the deal - the service? AWFUL. The food? Not bad but way over priced. My biggest gripe is that I have YET to receive even close to what I consider decent service. Decent. Not Great. Decent. Now - the good part? This is definitely a locals place and I love that! There is plenty of parking, seating inside and a large patio on the front! I sat at the bar and wasn't quite sure what I wanted to drink. The bartender asked me if I had tried the Deep Eddy Lemon and I said no but, go ahead and make me a cocktail with it! She made an awesome cocktail and it wasn't expensive at all! The bartenders were attentive and the bathrooms are clean. This is a place you can definitely come to just relax and drink. This place has good food, great beer selection, and fantastic service. But don't go here, because I want to keep coming back to an empty chair at the bar when CBS decides to be a jerk and televise the Cowboys (WHAT) instead of the Texans game. I had been here before in the back room with giant projectors and black leather bachelor style couches and it was just an average experience because I liked the food and beer, but hated the couches. The couches were just too big for little ole me. Buuuut, more recently, Mister Tramps were my Sunday morning saviors -- I loved my cozy corner spot at the bar with a view of 3 different NFL games. Bartenders are friendly and it's a great place to watch a soccer game. It's a small place with a bar area on the right side, a small dining area in the left and a small back room. They have a small parking lot. It's located in the same area where Target is located. I come here to watch Tottenham Hotspur games and this is the home of Austin Spurs, Tottenham supporters living in Austin. (COME ON YOU SPURS!) I had the two egg breakfast which was good and they have various items like curry, fish and chips, pizza, etc. Let's say you have to go to the bathroom but afraid to miss the game. WARNING ! This place will rob you and try to make you feel guilty about it! I live about 2 blocks from this bar and I heard how neighbor friendly they were, so I decided to check it out myself. First off it is pretty grungy in there to be such a small bar. Second off the men's restroom smelled so strong of urine! It was awful , and I use port-o-potties at construction sites. Clearly no one's been in there all day to clean. They do have a great variety of beer and liquor, but they are all over priced. So, my story goes...after spending $103"at the bar".I decided to close my tab, and not leave a tip. So when the bartender found out she immediately walked from around her station to confront me in front of my lady friend about why I didn't leave her a tip," Is there a problem"and started giving me this spill about how she only makes $2 and some change per hour. Not even taking into consideration that it's the holidays, I make minimum wage,and inside there with my work clothes on and spent what I made for that whole entire day at work. All of this happened in front of their manager and the rest of the staff, while they sat behind the bar and laughed and smirked about her comments. So then after hearing enough about her problems I still tipped her a $10 bill and she didn't even say thank you. This place has no consideration for the working class. My reviews are typically on the lengthy side, but I assure you this one will not be. I've been to Mister Tramp's four or five times and have been unimpressed each and every time. Part of my trivia team and I used to go to Tramp's for Wednesday night Geeks Who Drink-sponsored trivia. We play GWD trivia every Saturday night at Opal Divine's Marina, so when they started doing Mister Tramp's a couple of months ago, we decided to clean up at a new place. Yeah, we typically win. Our team name is Freaks Who Drink, but I digress. The service at this place is lackluster at best. The very first time we went there we got great service, but as word of mouth about trivia night spread and Tramp's got more crowded on Wednesday nights, it was hard to get noticed at all by the waitstaff. I would typically head in around 7:30 to grab a table and wait on my mates to show up for 8pm trivia start time, but I wouldn't be greeted or asked for a drink selection for at least fifteen minutes. And if we weren't ready to order food when the server brought our drinks out, we would easily wait another fifteen minutes before the server would return to our table. I should have taken that as a sign to not order any food at Mister Tramp's. The first time we went I ordered a BLT. For some stupid reason, the BLT contains onions. Why the hell does this BLT contain onions? It's not a BLOT, it's a BLT! I specifically asked the waitress for no onions on my BLT, but guess what? Yep, onions galore. Sorry, but that was just a bad sammich. Whoever thought to add onions to a BLT should be fired. Even once I picked out most of the onions, the sandwich still stunk. I will say that their pizza is quite good. I got it on two or three occasions, and it did not disappoint. Take my advice and only order pizza if you go. My teammates who got pizza liked it, as well, but they didn't like any other food they ordered. The bartenders seem to constantly disagree about what size beer glass a customer should get, as I have gotten two different sizes on various visits. Sometimes I'd get the HUGE glass of Blue Moon for $4-something, and sometimes it would be a regular sized pint glass... for the same price. Say what? If you decide to try out Mister Tramp's for trivia, do it TONIGHT, as Geek goddesses Evelyn and Chelsea will be hosting tonight in place of normal Quiz Master, Patrick. And if you order a BLT, lemme know how you liked them pesky onions on it. Oh wow, this review is longer than I thought I could manage. I felt compelled to write a 5 star review to offset the 1 star review written by a very angry, very troubled individual who was recently banned for a variety of reasons including trashing the showrunner, trashing the venue and making racially charged statements. Good food but bad taste after today... I've been to Mister Tramps many times since I first was introduced to it a few months ago. I was more than excited when a recent groupon gave the opportunity for me to go to a cool local establishment and enjoy some of their food. However, today I was less then pleased when one of the managers/owners continued to argue with staff out in the open while customers were in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the manager/owner decided to make her case, then return to the back, come back out again and continue to argue. This back and forth action and arguing continued for 30 minutes. I didn't hear enough to know who was right or wrong in this scenario. However, I do know that in front of customers trying to enjoy their lunch, was not an appropriate platform to have such conversations....over and over and over... The server was more than apologetic for the outburst from the manager/owner, but it wasn't the best way to end the meal. I've always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at Mister Tramps but after today I'm not sure I need to continue frequenting this establishment. read more

Went out here on a Monday night after seeing The Big Lebowski at the Draft House. I'm not from Austin (and don't worry people from Austin, no plans on moving there) so asked the bartender for some local brews, preferably something like an IPA. He looked at me like I asked him to deliver a baby or something. He scoffed at me and just kind of repeated my question. He named off mosiac, which I did actually have a chance to have before, and then he just scoffed again. Since he had a hard time figuring out local beer, I said anything from Texas. He still gave me a hard time so I stuck with Mosaic. When the second round of drinks had to be ordered, we had the same issue. We were actually sitting outside and no one ever came out to take our order the first time. We never got menus or anything. So the second round, the bartender came out to us and asked for our drinks. Again, when we asked for suggestions, he looked at us like we were crazy. It wasn't busy at all. Maybe he was just mad that he actually had to do his job. So, I went back to try the food. I had the "corn chowder and crawfish bisque", which was bloody amazing, and The Don, which is a mozzarella sandwich. Both were good, though I'd hoped for toasted bread on the Don (I didn't ask for it). I dragged five or six friends up to meet me, and had a great night. The bartender brought us our drinks outside, and I tipped well. I ended up with a large tab, but that's my own fault for hanging out there from 6:30pm until midnight. Mister Tramps has become my home away from home during this World Cup. I've been so impressed with the wait staff and how the owners clearly value the fans coming in to watch the games. During yesterday's CRC game, they put on a Costa Rican party mix before and after play times so the ticos could have a party. Any time a team from a Spanish-speaking country is playing, they're more than happy to show the game on Univision with Spanish announcers. It really shows when a bar wants to do right by their customers and they most certainly are. As for food, the burgers aren't generally worth it (overcooked and underseasoned), the fried pickles are PERFECT, the pizza is almost flawlessly done, and the bread pudding is the kind of thing I still mention on a near daily basis even though it's been three weeks since I tried it. The beer prices are about what you would expect, maybe a little less, but the drink specials and the pitcher prices are a steal. No drink specials during World Cup, though. read more

If I could use only two words to describe Mister Tramps they would be, "severely underrated." They pretty much hit the nail on the head for everything that matters to me in a sports bar. TVs? Got 'em. Playing whatever sport you care to see. Don't care about sports? Neither do I! They also have trivia and and karaoke in a cute little room perfectly blocked off from the rest of the rowdiness. The food is surprisingly delicious. They have brie pizza. And the spinach salad is so amazing that if you cut the size by a third it could be in any fine dining establishment in town. Drink prices are extremely competitive; $3.00 wells all of the time and great pitcher specials. Not to mention a wonderful selection of craft and local drafts such as, my favorite, Live Oak Hefe. Note: They used to offer a free pizza with every pitcher, however, on our last visit informed us that the offer is no longer legal... sigh... I wouldn't take a journey to dine here, but I will recognize that for cheap, quality good eats and good drinks Mister Tramps holds their own for sure. We've been waiting for this place to open - it's within walking distance to the casa and it's always good to become familiar with bars in the neighborhood. Yesterday, we popped in for a drink during happy hour and a snack. The place is definitely in it's pre-opening phase, it has a new bar smell and the walls are pretty bare. They're only open from 11-9 Tuesday through Saturday, and they are still trying to get set up. However, they have a lot going for them already. Our bartender was extremely personable and accomidating. I got introduced to Gaelic Rules Football which was awesome! Half soccer, half american football, sorta rugby-ish, and totally brutal. I really like the vibe of the bar - we ended up chatting with quite a few other people that stopped in to check the place out too, and it's always fun to meet new peoples. The drinks themselves - a little pricey but you have to try one of their specials - it's muddled cucumber and mint in lime juice, with gin, tonic, and simple syrup. They had a huge list of crazy specialty drinks that sounded reaaaallly good. However, they also had 4 dollar happy hour Irish Car Bombs. Yeah, those did me in. We ordered the meatball sliders as well and they were suuuuper tasty. Very unique food. Can't wait to try some more of their food. They only have 4 appetizers, but they are half price during happy hour. We will definitely be back. Oh yes. Good stuff. read more
