Wow! Went here in a flash before an important weekend, and had Undra as my manicurist. I got a no-chip service, and I can confidently say this is the best manicure I've gotten in my life. She was extremely focused, and did a fabulous job on my cuticles. It's a bit awkward in this salon as it tends to be silent (I went in morning so could just be that) but Undra's warm demeanor made it all worth it. If you're not sure who to book with, book with her!!! Can't speak to the work of the other girls but if Undra is the standard then you're going to leave with beautiful nails. read more

Unfortunately I had a pretty frustrating time at this salon. I first booked myself a pedicure and facial. I had to pay a downpayment to book the services online, so I'm charged $16 and $43 (pedicure and facial). Later, I get a call that their facial services are down, but I can still go in for the pedicure. No word on refund. I end up adding a pedicure for my partner. We go in for the service, and my partner's "pedicure" was essentially a just a coat of paint, and then he waited while I had 15 extra minutes of massaging. Confusing that he didn't receive that too, so we paid for the same service. Then, I go to pay, hoping to use my DePaul discount, and they say they don't accept it. Fine, I'll pay full price. THEN, I get charged the full amount - disregarding my initial down payment. I have since called and gotten refunds for the down payments, but overall a pretty frustrating experience, and we won't be returning. read more

This is my go to nail salon for manicures and pedicures. I really like the attention to detail and how clean everything always turns out. I used to go to salon NB which is a block north from MItazi and the service doesn't even compare! Salon NB staff used to pressure me to upgrade to gel when I specifically wanted regular polish, the staff were always yelling and laughing loudly with each other, one time I came in with my boyfriend for a pedicure and they kept bombarding us with questions about our relationship... It really pains me to write this review because I think most of the manicurists in this place are awesome and they always try and accommodate appointments even when they are busy. However the last 2 times I have been here for a manicure, I have come out with cuts (some pretty bad from my manicures). The last manicure I had, the manicurist actually cut me 3 times. The third time, she actually said "Your skin is so dry", I was so annoyed by then I didn't say anything. The fact of the matter was she was really, really rough when dealing with my cuticles. She was not gentle when pushing the cuticles back and thats an understatement. I could feel the cuticle tool cutting my skin. I left the store with 3 cuts and one so deep it hasn't healed. I really hope they can train their staff better because I would like to keep coming here and like I said, not all the manicurists here are bad. read more

I went in for a no chip manicure. I didn't have polish on already, the service was $45 and I believe they do charge extra if you need polish removed. The good: -Walked in and they got me in relatively quickly -Good location/easily accessible -Hand and arm massage at end was good The not so good: -The tech continued to sigh and seemed really annoyed and didn't say anything to me when I tried to talk to her -I don't think the tools she was using were properly disinfected. Went in for a no chip manicure and regular pedicure. The pedicure started at about 6:40 pm and then maybe 20 minutes later a girl came by to start my manicure. The manicure was done and the pedicure was STILL GOING ON. 1 hour and 20 min for a regular pedicure and I get home to see them look like this. Left this place so confused with how sloppy the manicure was. She painted underneath the tips of my nails so that upon finishing my fingertips were covered in nail polish. The french manicure lines are sloppy and she actually smeared some of the white from the french manicure onto the clear part on one of my nails. I asked for the white tip to be thicker because at first it was a very thin strip which looked really odd to me, so maybe that annoyed her and this is what I got in return? Either way, what a disaster she created on my fingers and I definitely won't be back. read more

I didn't think you could mess up a pedicure but it turns out, you can. Brunette woman with balayage is doing my pedicure at this moment and cut and filed my nails so far down to a point where they were in pain. I have long nail beds, but she cut them and then filed them to the point where the skin came above them. Then she proceeded to pull skin from the top of where she filed?? I had to tell her to stop because it was painful. I flinched multiple times and my toes burn. Please walk a block up and go to Salon NB. Never coming here again. read more

Got a reasonable Groupon deal for leg waxing. I walked in 6 minutes late due to traffic/parking, but they didn't have any issue. It was a little weird to walk into a nail salon for waxing and having the service announced to the entire salon, but it was ok. Shazia was my waxer. She was the right amount of talkative and focused. I tried this salon after a recommendation from some friends and I can say that I had a great experience. I got gel x and they were perfectly priced, some places in the city charge $85 for gel x and and additional $15-$25 for designs but here it was $68 + $10 for designs and I could not be more pleased. I have been wanting to get the smiley face design and Inessa was able to do them for me. Will also say the employee I had (Jika) paid attention to detail and cleaned my cuticles and cut down my nails before putting the extensions on which I appreciated. I visited this salon through Class Pass because I was a lazy bum last month and didn't exercise enough. I called to book my appointment and the lady on the phone was pleasant. When I came in a bit early for my appointment, I sat down to wait. What I can only assume to be the owner (older lady) came and looked at my hands, and seeing that I had about 4 nails with no-chip polish on, told me to "chip them off myself" right there, otherwise I'd be paying $10. I actually chuckled out loud at this instruction but did it anyways. When I chose my color (white), the same bossy lady asked me "really? Are you sure?" I joked that I wanted to look even paler than I already was (what's it to you lady?!) While she was doing my manicure, she was sighing and sounding extremely exasperated and disappointed by the state of my nails. She continued to sand them down over and over and told me they were "very weak." Well no duh lady you literally told me to peel off my polish. My "no-chip" chipped in two days. She didn't talk to me at all during the manicure but did snap at her employees. This lady gave me a bad feeling. Not the way you want to walk out after a little self pampering. I came here yesterday because my main salon down the street Nail NB was booked up for the rest of the night. I called around to get the best deal. This place said originally $30. I get there. This Asian girl with the glasses does a no chip color for me on my toes. This isn't even a pedicure. Just a no chip color change. It was really annoying how the seat and the pedicure feet/water bucket where you soak your feet aren't attached to the chair. So my feet kept slipping which was annoying as hell. I didn't realize until the next day my toe has been stabbed with the cuticle cutter. She kept stabbing at my toe which I don't know why because my cuticle was already cut. Then when I went to check out they charged me $43? How did it go from back $30 to $43? She said $10 extra for a French manicure? That's super messed up. They gave me a good stabbing and charged me up the ass. Never will I come to this place again. That's why I didn't end tip. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE. Silly me, I went to the old location, thank goodness that they did not move that far or I would be very late and in trouble with the technician! Very lovely solon, love the metallic walls and the decor is very modern and beautiful. Wax was painless and quick, 15 minutes for me (but I have been doing this for a while). 1st visit and they did a great job on the gel mani, which lasted approximately one week. Really expensive for what you get. 50 bucks 2nd time coming in, this time with a Groupon. When I called them to set up an appointment the day before, I had trouble booking online, they were short and snippy, but I took it as they were just busy. Fine. Told them about my groupon for this place, for gel man/regular pedi. I was told all is fine, I could use it no problem. When it came time to pay with the groupon, they refused it. They refused my groupon because they told me I have been there within 6 mo and this groupon is only valid to first time customers. VERY MISLEADING, I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THE GROUPON HAD I KNOWN. The fine print DOES NOT say that, so if you are going to have a rule like that make it explicit. Good to know they value strangers coming in the door than existing customers! Moral of the story: don't use a groupon here or white lie and say you've never been. I tried out Mitazi Salon and I was not impressed. The staff wasn't very friendly, the seats for the pedicure didn't have a massage feature, and the foot soaker was sub par. I asked for a design, and the woman told me she didn't know how to do one. She also said didn't have time to do one either. I noticed my finger skin had nail polish on it still after I left. The spa pedicure and manicure was just okay. The experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. It was just alright. Update: The nail polish on the pedicure chipped in less than a week. I had a really great experience for eyebrow threading and a standard mani-pedi! I would recommend making sure you have an appointment, as getting for a walk in is difficult. But, that means good things. They are popular! I had Shazia for the threading and she was thorough and did a great job. For the mani-pedi, I had John and he also did a fantastic job. Really appreciate that they carry Dazzle Dry polishes, which is one of the "cleanest" polish brands on the market. They hold up *almost* as well as dip powder. Worst experience here. The older larger lady with the short hair is incredibly rude. She does not do a good job. After many times of my friend trying to politely correct mistakes that she was making on her nails the woman yelled at her and started taking her polish all the way off. We will never be back. My friend walked out in tears. The woman did not apologize and they tried to blame the issue on a language barrier. Gosia is incredible, book an appointment to see her for a Vitamin C facial immediately; your winter skin will thank you! Plus, they offer a introductory facial price for only $49; a true steal in the city for such an incredible facial. Tip 1: They offer online booking and you can opt in for a text reminder of your appointment. Tip 2: If you pay in cash, versus credit card, they give you a small discount on salon services. There is a Bank of America a block away if that discount appeals to you. Note: This is not a frilly, fancy salon. I view it as more of a neighborhood gem and really appreciate the talent of everyone who works there. So, if you can get over the fact that this place doesn't have fancy pedicure chairs or TV's like a few other spots, it may be your new go-to place too. read more

I had got a no chip mani and regular pedicure just last night. My friend and I went in since she treated me for my birthday. We thought the place was very cute. The pedicure chairs were trendy. Our nails look great but my manicure was very heavy handed. My cuticles were left sore and bleeding a bit. Our appointment was at 4:30 which I got there on time and my friend came about 30mins later. I suggest you book during the moring because once they realize its 5:30 they begin to rush. My no chip manicure was done while I sat in my pedicure chair. I'm a bigger girl so this was unforcomfortable to say the least. I had to keep my left hand up and pull it over for the nail tech. Then...she brought over the entire UV lamp and placed it on my stomach for me to hold while she did my nails and placed them under the light. Just no. If you have to rush to the point where your customer is holding your equipment then don't allow them to book at 4:30. My pedicure took longer than the no chip!!! The staff was friendly and I liked their color selection but the events that took place were odd. Including the okay nail experience, where this shop is located brought some peculiar people through. 1st event- A man got to the store window and stood there for a good 6mins. He didn't leave until my friend looked over and nail techs didn't seem phased by it. 2nd event- A random man walks into the salon, unannounced, puts his hand up to "assure us" and just sits in one of the chairs turned and staring out the window. Wtf. The nail techs didn't acknowledge him nor tell him to leave. He eventually got a phone call and left. I was completely shocked and still am. Poor customer service, nails chipped and as a repeat customer they couldn't allow a five minute late appointment, mind you it was prepayed. Policy says 10 minutes late allowance but after talking for 5 minutes they proceeded to cancel and decided i could no longer have an appointment. As a repeat customer, I will not be back. Highly disappointed in the treatment as I come every 2 weeks and was beginning to find a pattern. read more
