First off... Guy at register is a d-bag. His entire attitude and elitism(as he works an iPad at a Deli) is comical. The food was awful. Corned beef and pastrami sliced sooooooo thin... There are 2 reasons you cut meat like that 1. To make sandwich seem stacked when not 2. Because the meat was not cooked well and is tough. The Reuben had a wad of unmelted cheese in the middle with a smattering of Kraut and NO Thousand Island! The Pastrami was egregious..see pic!! And Lettuce and Tomato on sandwich only cuz it would look sooo small otherwise... It did, look! Root beer tap so foamy I probably poured 5 glasses trying to get one. Oh, and condiments. This spot is exactly what you need for a good lunch sammy. I got the Asian Tofu Sandwich and it did not disappoint. The hoagie roll was a great texture and held my sandwich toppings in while soaking up some of the great flavor. The tofu was cooked to perfection to create a really nice texture. Neighborhood sandwich spot! Delish, fresh, casual, affordable. My fave is the banh mi. If you walk up and order, there'll be a bit of a wait, about 15 min usually. You can order online but there's an extra charge. All the sandwiches are under $10 or so. It starts adding up when you add on the chips, craft sodas, cookies. My partner and I have spent $40 for a quick lunch there without trying, the extras really add up lol. Yep. It's everything people said it would be. Don't know if it was just the crowd on the day I was there, but I walked in and was like, "Ohhh... so this is where all the hippies of Nashville are..." It at least mildly gave that granola vibe. I loved it. I went for the Asian Flank Steak sandwich after seeing lots of pics on Yelp and it was a very unique sandwich with incredible flavor. The steak was so tender and the housemade Giardiniera was really the x-factor. I noticed that a number of the sandwiches had the giardiniera and I can see why! When they called out the names on the orders, they also called out what it was and I heard the Turkey Apple Brie called out the most by far. Obviously popular and the one I will probably try next. Also, if I'm gonna eat a plant-based sandwich, I'd usually prefer just a ton of veggies instead of a meat substitute but I must say the Seitan sandwich looked really, really good! I love the Turkey Avocado best! Lots of great options to choose from though. Lunchtime is clearly a popular time so I recommend calling in your order ahead (or order online). At our office we do this frequently so as so avoid extra wait time. Even though we are eating there. The sweet tea isn't what you'd like expect it to be, there is a hint of cinnamon in it so be aware of that. I love it but it's one of those you either love it or hate it. read more

A colleague recommended this place, plus Yelp world seemed to have a lot to stay about it. Popped over for lunch and was happy to have beat the rush when we walked in around 11:45 AM. By 12:05 the line was nearly out the door. Deciding what to order was a serious struggle. I decided on the turkey avocado sandwich. It was really good! The bread was high quality and all the ingredients were really fresh. I liked that it came with a pickle (can never go wrong there!). My friend had the chicken salad. Unfortunately, she said that the chicken was poor quality and there was some spice in the mix that was quite off-putting to her. She didn't eat much of it at all. Bummer. Even though it was busy, it seemed that there was ample seating (especially in warmer weather on the patio). The wait did seem like it might make a lunch stop in tricky, as it took a little bit for those after us because of the rush. Moral of the story: Come early. read more

The hype is for real!!! This place was well spoken about by the locals. Being from the North where delis are a norm I wasn't sure I would be impressed. Then I was pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was good. I had the Tennessee tuna melt. But when I tell you it looks so nasty in there! The patio was infiltrated with flies. The staff working there.. can you exchange gloves after you ring somebody up at the counter please? That's just nasty and passing more unnecessary germs than needed. But looking at some of the people who ate there, I think they're all immuned lol! It just look like a great place for people who don't like bathing and just wearing dirty clothes to come and eat. But that sandwich was good though to be fair. I'm surprised there wasn't any hair in it! Nobody had on a hairnet on that food prep line. And I saw one guy raised his arms and use them to wipe his head. So I was surprised that my sandwich had no hair in it. Definitely not coming back! And looking at the selection of people who work there and eat there, they probably don't want somebody who uses hand sanitizer or soap and water back lol! You turn into a small lot of parking and i believe there is more parking around the side? If you get a spot in the front small lot walk around the side towards the back of the building for the front door. There's a couple doors right there but it's to the patio seating section so it can be a little confusing. I asked the staff when I arrived and they said, "there isn't a bad sandwich on the menu"... so I decided to give it a shot. I ordered it on the hoagie (minus bacon, add cheddar). Ooh baby do you know what that's worth, ooh heaven is a place on earth (music notes) ... Yes, I said it (or sang it). I grabbed my sister the Turkey avocado which everyone raves about, including her. $19 and a bag of chip later we have died and gone to heaven. I believe it's stupid to pay for something you can easily make at home (salad, smoothies, pasta and sandwiches) BUT Mitchell's is way too good, I've had the asian tofu sandwich, the avocado BLT, seitan supreme, tuna sandwich and the chicken salad sandwich and they're all amazing. They all come with a pickle and everything is better with a pickle. They have great cold brew coffee, kombucha and beers on tap, they also sell to go sides which I've heard good things about but have never had myself. They use fresh, high quality ingredients and the customer service is quick, friendly and overall great. The online ordering is easy to use, it's also easy to phone in an order ahead of time. My only wish is that one day they would make a meatball sub (but if you're wanting one go to tower deli) but other than that they're simply the best read more

That Asian BBQ tofu sandwich is what my dreams are made of. I'm serious. Ever since I saw this place on the Travel Channel years ago I've been wanting to try the flank steak sandwich. However, the BBQ tofu caught my eye the first time I actually came here. Ever since, I've been hooked and haven't been able to order any other sandwich. The tofu is so well seasoned, and I love the lightly pickled cucumbers that add a nice crunch. I'm usually not the type of person to order the same thing every time, but I can't help myself! It's so good! I tried the seitan sandwich that I ordered for a friend, but I still prefer the tofu. One day I'll get around to trying the famous flank steak... one day. All sandwiches are made fresh to order, so a short wait should be expected. If you can't be bothered to stand around the deli, then you can absolutely call ahead! There are plenty of beers on tap, and they have a unique soda fountain I haven't sampled yet. Also, as a traditional deli, you can also buy cuts by the pound. Love the food here. Reubens and French dip are my go to's but I have tried bites of many others. Good selection of local craft beers and the service is nice. You can sit inside or out. You can order online and pick up in the store. Word of warning though: if you order online they absolutely will not call your name out. In house orders they call your name when the food is done but online you need to go up to the counter and ask. This bit me once when I was in a hurry. Sometimes the wait for food can feel long but that's because they are usually pretty busy. It has never been overly excessive for me so I go pretty regularly. Highly recommend. read more
