I've lived in Nashville for 5 years, and I just tried Mitchell for the first time. It was fine, but I was underwhelmed. The menu is pretty typical sandwich shop fare. If you want a BLT or a Rueben or a turkey sandwich or a tuna melt, Mitchell has a menu of sandwich classics. And the quality was pretty standard. There wasn't anything about the menu (sandwiches or sides) that was too exciting or unusual, but they probably have something for everyone, since their menu is pretty traditional. You order at the register, and they call your name when your sandwich is ready. I arrived with a friend around 11 on a Sunday. We walked right up to the register to order (not one in line in front of us), and then it was a 10-15 minute wait for our sandwiches. I got the Tennessee tuna (a simple tuna melt with a bit of remoulade-ish sauce), which was fine (I really enjoy a tuna sandwich, and this was one was what I expected), with a fruit cup side. My friend had an avocado turkey sandwich. They have some tables inside, some table outside in an enclosed patio, and some picnic tables uncovered in front by the parking lot. We sat outside at a picnic table. There wasn't anything wrong with my experience at Mitchell. The sandwiches were totally fine - simple, traditional. But there wasn't anything about the experience that would have me run back or go out of my way for a meal. If you live in the area, it's a good place to have in your takeout rotation. read more

Best deli and sandwiches in Nashville. You can get takeout or eat there- they have seating inside and outside (dog friendly patio). Fairly large sandwich selection and have vegetarian options also. Everything is fresh and their bread/rolls are delicious. They have lots of beers on tap small bags of chips you can get to go with your sandwich. They usually have a few small desserts on the counter from Local vendors you can grab as you are checking out. I have been several times and this little spot in East Nashville is worth the trip. read more

The only thing about Mitchell's is that I wish one was closer to my house. They have several options when it comes to sandwiches. The price point for the portion and quality is just right. Their ingredients taste fresh, sandwich made to order, and they're generous with the meat which is the common downfall for most deli. I find myself biting into all bread. But not here. My wife and I got the club and BBQ brisket to share. That's the route to go to get a your tastebuds satisfy as they have so many good options. We also had a cup of chicken and veggie soup due to the weather being cold and gloomy and it topped off the meal perfectly. I love their soda set up and options. A great place for the kiddos too. We are locals and wanted to try something in our neighborhood so we tried here for breakfast. It was hot bar served to you type breakfast. They had everything a southern breakfast would be. They are taking all precautions during Covid times and it's very convenient to pickup orders. Yup. It's a must. If you live in Nashville and are a fan of food, you've sorta gotta find yourself to this stretch of Riverside and get a sandwich in your belly. I don't know why or how I waited so long to join the club. I came here on a Thursday evening after a grueling leg workout and I wanted to go to town and order everything in sight. I was with my lifting partner for the evening, however, you I didn't have that much wiggle room in ordering all the comforting fatty food which usually holds me at night. I was allowed to get a Mitchell classic: the turkey avocado & bacon. I don't know what makes this sandwich so good. It's as straight-forward as it sounds: turkey, avocado, bacon, cheddar, sprouts, and tomato (I ordered mine without mayo aka the devil's condiment). Put it all on toasted wheat and you've got yourself a sandwich... a delicious, comforting, warm cheese melting into sliced turkey with cool tomato adding depth that's finished off by the texture of the sprouts and the creaminess of the avocado sandwich. I just made myself hungry. I wanted to get some variant of potato salad with my sandwich, but I was already pushing it with cheats so I 'settled' for the fruit salad. It was fresh. It was good-sized. It had some ingredients that made me scratch my head a bit (berries during the middle of winter) but I, happily, scarfed it down... as dessert. I had potato chips (at home) with my sandwich. Do not come here for breakfast. Their sausage egg and cheese breakfast bagel was disgusting. The sausage patties were burnt all the way through and tasted like leather and the eggs were cold when I received my sandwich. One of the better sandwich places I've been to in America, yes I just said America. For someone that travels the majority of the year and looks for delicious sandwiches to nourish my body, this is my Golden ticket.
