Honestly this place should just not be a stop anyone hits in Paso. The owner flaunts her designer outfits and calls out people who aren't wearing "recognizable" brands. While everyone else at the winery wears a mask, she feels entitled enough not to. Now about the wines. Probably the worst Chardonnay I've ever had. They while every other winery in Paso provides clean cups for each tasting pour, Mitchella does not. They will literally pour over your previous tasting. This place is a class act if you like clowns. Take your money and time to Turley, or Castoro vineyards instead. read more

You won't find a better winery in Paso! They have an amazing wine makers, Darrin and Angela Mitchell, and knowledgeable tasting room staff. Prices are very reasonable and their tasting comes with a great cheese pairing. Some visits I just want to spend the day sitting outside enjoying the wine, view and company, but during Covid we have had to limit our time. Angela and staff really stepped up their game with their to go tasting boxes. We've picked them up for picnics and tastings with our friends. If you love great Cabs and Zins and amazing blends make sure you visit Mitchella. You will want to join their wine club so you can enjoy some of Angela's home cooking too! My friends & I try a new winery each time we go wine tasting. We decided to give this one a try this weekend...because it looked cute, lol. What a wonderful time we had here! We each are members of different wineries...& this is the ONLY one we've been too that let's you sit down on the patio and bring you the tastings! Our host Rachel was AMAZING! Such a sweetheart, super knowledgeable & so friendly! I ended up joining because of what a wonderful experience we had! I LOVE that they pair each wine with cheeses. The wines & cheeses are super yummy! My favorite wine was the Woodpecker Red & the Port. The view of Paso from there is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you Mitchella for such a lovely visit! We had the most wonderful wine tasting experience so far in Paso Robles at this winery. We've been to roughly 10 wineries and there is nothing compare to Mitchella. I personally are bias toward smaller wineries because (1) it's usually less crowded, (2) Most likely you get to chat with the winemaker and share the love of wine (3) it seems they spend a higher effort into making sure each bottle of wine to be amazing! This is truly a boutique winery at it's finest! They only make roughly 80 to 110 cases for each of their wine. 1 case is 12 bottles. So they probably make only 1 or 2 barrels per wine. This way they have a huge advantage of controlling the quality of each wine. I chose to visit this winery totally out of the blue. My priority was to find a winery that I can bring my dog into, otherwise my wife and I will have to take turn wine tasting (that's just sad). In fellow yelper's pictures I realize this place has a patio, thus I drove to this winery immediately. This winery isn't hard to find. It's right behind Robert Hall, which is one of the huge brand name winery in paso robles. There are plenty of signs which lead you to a Yellow Mediterranean house and you are there! Yes that's right, it looks like a single family house and I believe it is. The tasting room is actually an annex to the house, pretty cool concept. I was told to bring my dog to the patio, it actually has a COVERED PATIO. how cool is that!? It was 100+ degree last weekend and we were able to relax under a covered patio, with fans, and enjoyed the awesome day without getting sunburn. For the tasting, it comes with a cheese plate (pretty awesome), tasting fee per person is $10 (waived if buy 1 bottle) and sharing a tasting is $15 (waived if buying 2 bottles). Now i realize the cheeses changes periodically and the ones I had are very different from other fellow yelpers. All of their wine are pretty good, most of them are french varietal and they are my personal favorite. There is one red wine that employs the bordeaux blend and it is by far my favorite. I ended up buying 6 bottles of wine and 1 cheese. I really enjoyed my stay and I will definitely revisit this winery when I come to Paso Robles again. read more

Love going to Mitchella whenever I take a trip down to the Central Coast. It is a more quaint and quiet place compared to the other larger wineries in the area like Eberle. It's the kind of place I would take a couple close friends and my pup to just hang out for awhile. They also open earlier than the other wineries, so it's a perfect place to start off your wine day :) The staff are always friendly. We love that each tasting is paired with a yummy sample of cheese. I appreciate any place that allows dogs! The wine itself is also delicious. Their Syrah is one of my favorites. 10/10 recommend to anyone visiting! read more

Last stop on the wine tour with The Wine Wrangler An unscheduled but very welcomed stop here proved to be my favorite winery of those I visited today. My experience here wasn't so much a tasting as it was like a gathering at someone's home, hanging out in the back yard, playing with the dogs, swinging on the swings, listening to music while having a few drinks. The tasting room is connected to the house however our group hung out, outside on their patio. I sampled all of their reds and even bought a few because I couldn't resist buying a bottled named "Cheap Bastard". The red was actually tasty to where a whole case was sold while I hung out indoors trying some of the wines I missed while sitting outside. It was a great finish to end my first wine tour. read more

This was a really great winery, tucked behind some of the big names on Highway 46. I came here for a tasting on a Thursday, so enjoyed the quiet and serenity of Mitchella's backyard. We sat on their patio and tasted all of the wines in the flight (probably about nine or ten!). Our pourer was very friendly and came outside often to give us more tastes and tell us about the wines. I enjoyed the cheese pairing - about five of the wines are paired with select cheeses. They have a nice variety of wines here, and they all tasted great. The tasting is $10, but refunded with a bottle purchase (and with some bottles priced at $20 or less, there's no reason not to get one for a few extra bucks!). read more

One of the worst wineries I have ever been too. It was a windy Sunday and unfortunately the wind knocked down our cheese tray. Well the waitress refused to give us a new one because there wasn't "enough." So we weren't able to get the full experience. Next time maybe have extra cheeses in case something like this happens to future customers. Maybe because we were the only young and brown customers, if it would have been a different population maybe things would have been different. All in all never coming to this white racist place ever again and I suggest you all do the same. Especially to women of color. read more

We had a relaxing afternoon on the patio at Mitchellla. The back patio is covered from the sun but you can still enjoy the views. They sell cheese, crackers and snacks which was great because we were hungry and didn't want to go into town for food. Wine was good. There's a swing, water fountain and cornhole in the backyard. Bring the kids to this one. My only complaint is that they're not dog friendly. We had our 6 lb Maltese and had to leave him in the car because they had their own little dogs that were very aggressive with other dogs. As we walked up, they're dogs came charging out barking wildly so I picked my dog up. One of their dogs jumped up and almost bit me trying to bite my dog read more

They have a beautiful patio you can sit on and look out over the vineyards. They have giant Jenga, swings, and cornhole so kids have something to do while the adults drink wine! We have been coming to wine country with friends for 12 consecutive years, our experience is well founded. This winery is not a place to visit. Here is why.... From the time we walked through the door things were not on solid footing. The young man at the cash register had trouble doing the math for three couples tasting charges - not a hard math question to solve $15 x 2. This was a sign of things to come. There was pizza being served, yet it took over 20 minutes to have the person come to our table of six (6) with four (4) small pieces of pizza. In fairness, the pizza was tasty. The pours were not a "pour", rather a small splash. Again, getting the pour took a long time. The second round of pizza also took a long time to arrive, this time with a set of excuses. As a visitor, we were looking forward to a quality tasting experience, not whining about personnel issues pertaining to people leaving their employment. The third type of pizza arrived in another 15 minutes and there was a full dish, about eight (8) pieces. We thanked the lady for bringing enough for the table, expecting that she would leave the plate. Mind you, this is not even the size of a small flatbread pizza. She replied, "oh no, I need to return with the dish". We wanted the few slices of pizza, that could finally serve our group adequately, not her dish. I asked for a taste of their dessert wine, I was told they only pour it for wine club members - uggh! Bet that sales approach sells lots of wine. The best part of the visit was the wonderful breeze on Sunday, and excellent music by a group called Side Dish. The female vocalist was just wonderful, with a quality guitar player by her side. This place needs to train their staff, learn to scale their food preparation, hire more people, pour a decent sample of their wine, not offering excuses of why things are so awful and why they cannot pour a dessert wine. Very amateur operation. Sadly, not recommended at all. UPDATE: Shortly after posting this review, I was contacted by the winery. They were very apologetic, offering to send us a bottle of their dessert wine as well as a cheese plate on our next visit. This was fast action on the part of the owners and greatly appreciated. I trust that they will also look into their operation to identify areas for improving customer service. Everything said, they did the right thing for a review that was not perfect. Their effort is greatly appreciated - we will give them a second chance on our next visit. read more

Wine tasting at Mitchella Vineyard and Winery was by far the best wine tasting experience I have ever had, and I have been to quite a few wineries since turning 21. First of all, Diana was a spectacular wine pourer. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and made my friends and I feel like family from the moment we arrived. She was hilarious and had a great personality that really amplified the experience. Second, the wine very well priced at $10 for what I believe was 8 tastings with paired cheeses, plus $5 for tastings of the 3 ports. All of the wine was incredible, especially the red blends and the ports. I bought a bottle of the delicious 2010 Port- Vintage Riportella. The view of the vineyards from the backyard was also magnificent, and the dogs were fun to play with. I will definitely be bringing some of my other friends back to Mitchella Vineyard and Winery soon! read more

Mitchella won our hearts this visit to Paso Robles. So much so that we are now officially wine club members here. Let me go back a little.. My husband and I fell in love w Paso Robles the first time we came here, so on our second visit we thought, lets visit all new wineries and see what else is out there. Mitchella wasn't actually even on our list but since we got in to Paso earlier than expected we had room for a few more wineries. Enter mitchella. I chose to go to this place because I LOVE places that offer food/cheese/chocolate pairings with their wine tasting. Its such a magical experience; pairing beautiful food with beautiful wine. We loved all of the Mitchella wines and loved everything about the winery. Going to Mitchella is like going to your old friends house. The tasting rm is actually attached to the owners home and you can do your tasting inside or out. You are welcomed by the staff, and Bob the dog. Our little malshi loved Bob and we chose to the tasting outside so we could let our dog run free. Its beautful and relaxing here! We sat back, relaxed and enjoyed each of the wines with the cheese it was paired with. AH-MAZE-ING! We were told that we should check out the spiral stair case and sure glad we did because its beautiful up there. Took a few selfies and came back to finish the tasting. We also went thru some of their ports which are really great, paired w a truffle choclate. YUM YUM YUM. We loved everything about Mitchella, from the wine, to the staff, to the overall feel of the place we joined their wine club. Its actually our first time joining a club. In the past, we were tempted to join others, but something about Mitchella and its family like feel told us this was definitely the right place to join. Can't wait to open up the half case we brought back with us!! Our fav was the Leona Zin but we really did enjoy them all. Definitely check this place out especially if you are into the more home-y boutique wineries. I guarantee you will enjoy their wines, really something special and you will definitely enjoy the experience! This winery was amazing. Tastings are $10 and come with a cheese pairing. The Zinfandel was fantastic, great aromas, and sweet but not overpoweringly sweet. The tasting we had was 8 wines that were on the menu, and a bonus 2 wines that they had open. We ended up leaving with 2 bottles. A hidden gem. This place is located behind Robert Hall Winery, we heard about it searching Yelp! it rates high for wineries in this area. We came here on a Thursday and they were offering free cheese pairings with their wine tastings....OKAY! The wine was very good, the last one of the reds which is the Innuendo Noir was sooooooooooooooooo good. I would of purchased a bottle but it was a bit out of my price range. The wine attendant was very friendly, and their was a guy at the computer behind the bar that would chat with us as well. We asked them about our trip and places to go in the area and they were very helpful. They said they will be expanding their tasting room soon, so I hope to see even better things from them in the future! read more

This is a super cute cozy winery, when we came in the owner of the winery was making chilli . The staff is super accommodating, we were running late due to unexpected traffic. I called Mitchella winery and staff reported we could still come even if we were late. We did the wine and cheese pairing for $15 per person , and added the chocolate pairing as well. What a quaint little winery! We stopped here while passing through Paso Robles the other day and we're delighted with their offerings! Almost every wine in the tasting knocked our socks off. Mitchella Winery is always absolutely amazing. From the staff, to the owners, to the wine, and the atmosphere. Myself and my fiancé joined the wine club earlier this year after visiting many times with my parents who are wine club members. Rachel, Jesus, and Natalie are all amazing staff and are such a joy to be around. We have only been members less than a year and the staff always greets us by our name and knows who we are every time we walk in the door. You cannot get the experience and home like feel of this winery anywhere else. Their wine is some of the best wine I have ever had and you can't beat the prices. They also give you a cheese pairing with every tasting (which most wineries don't do). Even during COVID, they have maintained outdoor tasting (with social distancing of course) and even offer cute to-go tasting boxes. You really are missing out if you haven't been here yet! Happy wine club member here. I can't believe only three reviews so far. It must be because it is hidden away behind the massive Robert Hall winery. It is well worth searching out. The number one reason is the wine is delicious. It makes no difference if ts the whites,reds,roses, or dessert wines. I have never had a bad choice. The whines are done in the Rhone style that Paso is known for. Have been to one special event for wine club members and the food that was served was delicious and constantly being served. It is the very definition of a boutique winery. My favorite wines are the Rambunctious Red and the Shameless Blend, oh and the tempranillo is pretty damn tasty as well. read more
