Listen here listen here , I can't believe I've been here so many times and never left a review! Mitsuba is hands down my favorite poke spot in the Syracuse area. I always get the salad base and my mom usually goes with the noodles -- and let me tell you, they never miss. This time, I think our bowls got mixed up a little, and mine ended up with some ah tuna. I've always been hesitant to try it since I usually stick to cooked seafood, but it was actually so good! Flavorful, fresh, and the texture was way better than I expected -- honestly, similar to shrimp. If you like shrimp, you'd probably enjoy this too. For toppings, I went with shrimp, mango, crab meat, corn, chili flakes, and a few other things (I even snapped a pic of my order card because I can never remember everything!). The poke bowls are always fresh, flavorful, and customizable, and I love that you can watch them chop everything right in front of you. This visit I also tried the crab rangoons -- they were a little too crunchy for me, and my little one even said the same (and she usually loves rangoons). My mom tried the chicken wings, which were good, but I'll personally be sticking to the poke bowls because they are the star here. The restaurant is always clean, the staff is super friendly, and the quality is consistently top-notch. If you're looking for poke in Syracuse, this is the place. Five stars for the poke bowls, no question! They do sell all type of bubble drinks as well.
Went with a very LOW expectation for poke and it surprised me! Giving it a 4 star for now as we didn't try enough food. Next time I would like to try their hot dishes, like ramen or the pork belly buns. I love the build-your-own poke open with a ton of selections! Each poke with $1 additional for avocado, tax and tip came out to $18. The flavors were delicious but we were disappointed in the salmon size. Tasted good but looked like little sashimi scraps. Not big cubes. I even ordered double order of salmon and still not enough. The ahi was a good size. They don't have plain white rice, which my kid wanted. They only have sushi (sweet vinegar) rice. Hmm after writing all this down, maybe it should be 3 stars ...
Stopped here on a Friday night with the boys looking for some noodles and broth. One of the many things Vog has gotten me into over the years - apart from just wanting to try new cuisines and ethnic foods - is ramen and KBB. So Ramen is usually a go-to on convention trips. Finding this place via Yelp I wasn't aware that it's an order and sit place rather than table service. Not that it matters or affects it - but, I prefer table service with ramen places - especially with wanting the buns or apps First etc and needing that cadence of a meal order. We came in and there weren't too many seats open - there are probably 5 booths, a couple of two-tops and a long high counter. The latter is where we posted up after ordering - until I spotted an open booth and we scurried to nab it. Altogether we ordered 3 ramens, one pho (Vog of course), three orders of buns (2 pork, one chicken), and two orders of gyoza. We also scored some bubble teas as well. Ramen: I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, adding a side order of noodles. The ramen was standard all things considered. I thought the portion was right in line with the standard fare - and the extra side of noodles was a huge amount. I would say my only issue was the chashu - was a little tough and didn't melt in the broth so eating with chopsticks was a chore. Buns: We got pork belly buns and "KFC" chicken buns. The pork was a little odd to me - thin pork belly slice inside with a small amount of sauce. The pork was kind of slimy and wasn't too pleasing. The chicken one however - WOW. The spicy Mayo sauce - large pieces of chicken that were crispy and properly fried - perfect marriage of the east and west. **GET THE KFC BUNS. PERIOD.** Gyoza: the gyoza was standard - exactly what you think of when you order these. Very good. Taro Tea: I grabbed a tarp tea. I think I'm past the point of getting the bubbles in mine. Seem cool- but having musket balls shot into my throat every sip is not something I'd like to continue. Good flavor. I would get it again from here. Overall good - just hope someone can clean the walls where all the splattering is. yikes.
Came here on a weekend lunch time. It was not too crowded but we did end up waiting about 30 minutes for our food (2-3 tables before us). We tried the tonkatsu ramen and a sushi burrito. The tonkatsu ramen was pretty watery (seen in the picture) unfortunately. The sushi burrito was tasty but small. We also got a fruit tea. The tea was a bit bland/watery (but cute container). On the bright side, they do have a rewards system where you can get points for a free tea every $60 or so. Everything was just alright, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again unfortunately.
Outside of Kasai Ramen in downtown Syracuse, I don't know of a dedicated place for a good bowl of ramen; until now. Even with a 3-star rating, I consider Mitsuba Ramen Noodle a very good option for Japanese style ramen at an affordable price. It also has a lot of potential to become a 4-star rated venue, with a few improvements. The location of this restaurant is stark and accessible. The premises are clean and can almost seem abandoned at times depending on the time of day you happen to choose to visit. The menu is simple and deceptively broad given the choices available. I chose to select the Sapporo Miso Ramen and the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Bun appetizer. There were other very appetizing menu items as well to include sashimi grade burritos, poke bowls and bubble milk tea drinks. I'm looking forward to returning and trying out one of the poke bowls and a bubble tea drink. The Sapporo Miso Ramen was served hot and the broth was rich, savory and umami filled! The three pieces of chashu pork varied in consistency; one very fatty piece and two overdone crispy slices. Nevertheless, all of them were tasty and welcome with the broth. The hard boiled egg and fish cakes slices also accompanied the soup and noodles. The noodles were al dente and plentiful and I enjoyed slurping up the remaining broth until I met the bottom of the bowl. The KFC Buns were served two to a serving. Although the condiments weren't plentiful the pieces of chicken in them were crispy, crunchy, thick and tasty. I felt that if there was a soy garlic glaze or some type of dipping sauce to accompany them this could be a flavor bomb in the making. The buns were warm and soft and not too chewy and I did enjoy them quite a bit. For the price, this venue is a great alternative to Kasai Ramen. I was served quickly and the food was delightfully filling. With the addition of a few table condiments such as hot chili oil and an array of dipping sauces for the steamed buns, this could be a great regular meal venue for local noodle heads out there. I would not hesitate to give this restaurant a try and judge for yourself...
I didn't rush to try this place, just because it looks like there's a lot of restaurants in the area making the same stuff. On our first trip, we both ordered Tonkotsu and asked for extra spicy. There was no noticeable change in the spicy, but we had a few complaints about the ramen. The noodles were completely clumped, even after some considerable effort stirring them around. The meat was also chewy. I should point out that we're not really ramen people, so I don't have much of a background to compare it to. I did really enjoy the taste and texture of the noodles. All the drinks we had were good. I froze the coconut milkshake and drank it later, and it held up great. Also, the strawberry banana smoothie with strawberry boba was very refreshing. I took my mom here when she said she wanted something fresh. She doesn't usually go for a lot of non-American food, so it felt like a win getting her here. She ordered the sushi burrito, and loved it. I had heard of this trend, but it never sounded like something worth trying. I love sushi and love burritos. My girlfriend is Korean, and we go through a lot of seaweed wraps at home with many different kinds of meals. I never thought it would scale up to a burrito; it seemed like it would get soggy or fall apart. She let me try the one she ordered, and it was perfect - the best of both. The weight and feel of a burrito or wrap, but the taste and texture of sushi. Absolutely delicious. On that same visit, I ordered a poke bowl which was also my absolute favorite. I added an extra protein and some avocado (my mom was paying, after all). I went salmon, shrimp and tuna, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to try anything else. I added a ton of crunch to mine, which fit right in with the texture of the fish. Everything tasted brilliant and fresh. It was overwhelming, and I didn't take the time to pinpoint what I feel could have been an entire novel describing this experience. Any time I come here, I have no choice but to recreate this meal exactly. We threw in an order of the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) buns. The only prevailing taste was the heavy cumin seasoning in the chicken. The chicken was very crispy, bordering hard. There were small amounts of sauce and veggies that had little impact. The buns were very well made, the best texture you could hope for. The softness helped offset how hard the chicken was. It's hard not to like fried chicken on a bao bun, so it's a safe order for just about anyone. All in all, the service and timing here is always good. Our experience with the ramen wasn't the best, but they seem to be top tier in the city along with Kasai. I tried my first sushi burrito here and absolutely loved it. And as far as I'm concerned, this will be the place I go for poke bowls from now on.

I'm super late on the whole sushi burrito trend. When it was in the peak of popularity, I didn't leave near any spots that were serving them, and by the time I migrated to Syracuse and found out about this place, the frenzy had sizzled out a bit and I was in no rush to try it. What a mistake that was. Mitsuba has turned me into a true sushi burrito believer. There's something about stuffing all that fishy, ricey, saucy goodness into a tube that makes it extra satisfying. This delivery method makes the sushi feel extra filling. I got the Spicy Ahi, and it had the perfect mix of umami and heat. I will say, I've been to this location a few times. The last few times I came, I ordered online only to find out that their online ordering system wasn't turned on or wasn't working, which was a bummer because then I had to wait for my food. For that reason I'd call it a 3 or a 3.5. There was a significant amount of time between my last two visits and I ran into the same problem two times, which signaled to me that they weren't in a rush to fix it. Was overall happy with the food though!
Yum! My husband was looking up Asian places we would be near us when we stopped by Trader Joe's and found this place. So great we popped on over for a late lunch! We split the KFC bun and it was really good! Thanks yelp reviews for the suggestion. Also made a sushi burrito and it was my first time having one but won't be my last! Also tried their coconut milk tea based on another yelper review and it was delicious! Can't wait to go back!
The food was generally was good enough. The Shiso Salmon Salad meet expectations for Poke and I like that they had the flavor of perilla leaves added in. The Shoyu Ramen was tasty but arrived at the table warm, not hot, and the noodles were stuck in a clump. The utensils didn't seem properly clean, either. Milk teas were also pretty standard. Not bad if you have a ramen craving but could have been better. Could improve in cleanliness and keeping food at before it gets to the table.
Went here in search of the trifecta - ramen, gyoza, and bubble tea. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and Dinner BAE had the beef ramen. We also shared an order of pan fried gyoza and a taro milk tea with boba. So there's good news and bad news. The good news: the gyoza and milk tea were fantastic. The bad news: the ramen. Our ramen were so so. The broth had only a hint of flavor and and was on the watery side. Imagine bath water but with scallions. The noodles reminded me of Cup of Noodles. The tonkatsu ramen featured 1/2 of an overly salted, overly boiled tea egg and two slices of pork belly. This pork slices were really thin and the longer they stayed in the broth the more they disintegrated. Both slices of pork were very unpleasant to eat. At first bite, all that touched my palate was under seasoned fat. Upon closer examination, the two slices were comprised of about 2% meat. The tonkatsu was also supposed to have black wood ear mushrooms. I had only one in my bowl. Dinner BAE said his ramen was just meh.
Best poke and ramen in town. Been here multiple times with friends and husband and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the donkotsu ramen, beef ramen, and the poke. The dontoksu has a amazing deep, rich broth and pork that melts in your mouth. The beef ramen is my husband's favorite. He says it tastes like taiwanese beef noodle soup, and the meat is a super tender shank. I honestly do not know how they are able to be successful with such diverse flavors but seriously a huge thumbs up to the owner Eric. I always go for the make your own poke. First of all they are not shy with their protein. Unlike other poke shops in the area they give you heaps of fresh sushi. They have SO MANY choices of toppings, from quinoa base to lotus chips. I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. The location is not a place you would notice just driving by and I have driven by a lot. Now that I know it's here I will come back. It was clean and felt more like a chain than I expected. Kind of like a Chipotle or Moe's by Japanese. This is not a bad thing I just wanted to make clear what type of restaurant it is. The most important part is the food and they got that part right. I got the spice ahi poke bowl. It was just as advertised except not spicy at least not to me. I found it very mild others may feel different because every one does when it comes to spice. The fish was great and I loved the overall flavor of the dish itself. The rice was perfect and the seaweed salad on top was so good I could of just ate a large bowl of that. I added some Sriracha to give it more spice and that was perfect. The 3 people That I dined with all got the ramen and all felt that their dish was very good. I tried the chicken one and found the broth to be very good. I will try a bowl for myself next time. A pork bun and chicken bun were also ordered I was told they were both very good. Bun is super soft and the meats were breaded and fried. Looked like fried chicken. I will come back again and next time I will go to the bubble tea place next door for desert read more

This place is like a quick-stop or casual sit-down experience. You basically walk up to the register/counter and order and you can see them preparing your order. There are booths, high-tops, and other tables, but the ambiance is low-key, relaxed, and minimal. The guy who took our order was apparently the owner of the entire business, and they're expanding, offering several locations with the original in New Hartford, NY and another coming soon to Camillus. Each location specializes in a different Asain cuisine. For example, this Mitsuba has ramen noodle, indicated in the name, and they also do poke. I believe the others have sushi and hibachi. Pretty unique and interesting idea. I really liked this place, it was entirely innovative and easy. I had some kind of chicken ramen. I'm a little hesitant about trying poke ever since I had it at Corelife and had an awful experience. Maybe it was just me, but although I love sushi, the tuna cubes were gigantic and unmanageable, and the dressing had too much wasabi. Mitsuba don't let me down, because I'm trying it next time. My friend and I split the pork buns and they were light, well-portioned, soft, savory, and delectable. I especially remember the tender, glazed pork cheek, and the crunchy dusting of peanuts on top. The ramen was elevated with the spicy chili oil, which provided a healthy kick and cleared my sinuses. I had the chicken with the milky (?) broth. It had corn and that egg-white slice with the fuschia swirl. (If you know, you know). It also had an actual soft-boiled half-egg slice. Overall it was good, warming, hearty. I feel like it was overall tasty and I would totally want to return, but it wasn't my absolute favorite. Also, there's this ice-cream/boba place located right next door, and I reallyyy want to try it. THIS IS THE BEST RAMEN IN SYRACUSE. Syracuse has had an embarrassing dearth of gourmet ramen options for as long as I've been here. You would see sporadic restaurants provide this as an option - whether it's your SU Korean restaurant or a Chinese-Japanese restaurant. Finally, Syracuse has been blessed with the entry of this establishment. Mitsuba is perhaps more known for their Hibachi / Japanese Steakhouse restaurant in Camillus, NY, but their entrance to the East Syracuse - Dewitt area is entirely welcome. Let's begin right to the food. They're maybe not the most authentic, but it's the best-tasting ramen you will find in probably the entire CNY area. I would compare it to the likes of Ippudo NY, Momosan, Totto Ramen, Ichiran. Their flavor knocks your tastebuds out of the park. The "Tonkatsu" ramen (which is supposed to be spelled "Tonkotsu"), is a must-have staple. The Tonkotsu ramen is the "porkiest" broth and has a rich, meaty flavor with a tongue-coating almost creamy texture from the collagen in the pork. It's delicious. The meat that takes front-and-center until you hound it down is amazing all throughout. They also have the Shoyu Paitan ramen, which is perhaps made with the lightest broth, but even still, since it is made with a soy base instead of a pork base, so you should detect some salinity here. Here it's garnished with breaded chicken slices as its protein. Delicious. The Spicy Miso ramen shares the same broth as the Tonkotsu, but it's for those who want their tastebuds to be enlightened to the highest degree. It's a blast. It's like Tonkotsu with the umami and pleasant bitters of Miso but with more heat. The Chashu they put is perfectly cooked - wonderfully seared on the outside, and extremely soft and perfectly textured on the inside. Their dumplings are so good. Both options are equally great. The only note I would say is that their chicken, though incredibly delicious, has the slightest gummy texture to it, though fully cooked. Perhaps it's directly deep-fried after being frozen? I'm not sure. Still would get it again. At $6 for 2, this is a must-have to supplement your ramen entree. All in all, you must pay a visit here, whether you are a numbskulled being who thinks ramen is only like Maruchan or Top Ramen, or a millenial NYC yuppie who's obsessed with trying to be an insta influencer. read more

I ordered Shoyu ramen(soy sauce ramen) & my husband ordered Miso ramen. My ramen was actually not that bad. Not greasy. However, as a Japanese, the miso ramen was not so good. It was like... tastes like ramen noodles in light miso soup. But I get it. In Western culture, Japanese original miso ramen may be a little too strong. So. Anyways the restaurant was clean, and they have sushi rolls too. So next time we'll try them instead of ramens. :) read more

So, I had a terrible experience elsewhere and was super disheartened at never being able to fulfill my ramen cravings other than making it myself. I read the reviews and I was hesitant but I had to take a chance and I'm so glad I did! I'm so thankful for whoever owns this restaurant for putting out quality food! Here's my one con: the food pager they give you is incredibly loud and almost obnoxious that it scared me- so be warned it not only buzzed like usual food pagers but it screams and you loudly beeping! I came here on a Friday during lunch time- there is parking available but I can see it getting busy and crowded. We walked in and it had a nice clean cut appearance, it was simple and well lit. The pictures on the wall were artsy photos of the food which could be helpful if you wanted to see how it's served. We were greeted by the employees behind the counter and asked if we needed help with the menu. It almost made me think that I was walking into an "Asian Moe's" but a bit classier. We were hungry- we ordered 2 pork tonkatsu ramen - I feel like this is the classic ramen to order to truly judge how they do their broth and noodles. We also ordered the pork and Korean fried chicken steamed rolls. These rolls were filling! I prefer the Korean fried chicken rolls as they were more flavorful with spices with a mild kick. The pork steam roll had a decent pork taste but was a bit too peanuty for my liking which made me need to wash it down with my drink but still delicious. The ramen- YUM! The broth was thick and not watery- it was far from tasting like instant noodles which I had unfortunately experienced elsewhere. The noodles were perfect curly and firm. I added some chili sauce because I like spicy so all in all it was fantastic. I was incredibly full but it was too good to not finish and now as I write this review I'm ready for a good post lunch nap. I highly recommend this place and now just wish we had one closer to the Liverpool area- thanks for providing such great quality service and food. It definitely didn't just look thrown together or if things were just there bc traditional Japanese ramen says it's supposed to be- everything that was in the bowl was there to compliment your meal. read more
Mitsuba is the sister restaurant to the LabCow milk tea joint next door. The owners take care of both places and they are all very nice and attentive. KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Steamed Bun $5.95: Good flavored buns with nice crispy chicken. Would recommend. Tonkotsu Ramen $12.95: Great flavored broth and nice chewy noodles. The braised pork tasted great and soft. My favorite dish from the ones I've tried yet! Hawaiian Classic Poke Bowl $10.95: I liked the taste of the poke bowl and the sashimi tasted great in combination with everything else. Overall, Mitsuba is a great addition to the town of Syracuse that I will be visiting more in the future. read more

Had the Tonkatsu Ramen. The pork was like butter. The noodles we're cooked to perfection. The broth was a rich and flavorful pork broth. I want to try them all. Got the ahi tuna and quinoa Poke Bowl for my wife on Wednesday evening. She was blown away by the freshness and flavor. Must stop and try. And, stop next door at LabCow for bubble teas and amazing rolled or nitrogen ice cream. read more

This was my first visit here and I will say its delicious! I had the Tonkatsu ramen. The broth was so delicious. Just the right and was super flavorful I put a dab of chilli paste in to add some heat. The pork was well cooked and complimented the broth. Wasn't super fatty like pork belly can sometimes be. I would happily given 5 stars however the noodles didn't seem like hand pulled noodles. They still tasted good but I've had ramen with pulled noodles and I love them. read more

Mitsuba Ramen Noodle is a good ramen noodle restaurant. It's sort of hidden in a strip mall in East Syracuse that you can drive by and miss. It is worth stopping in for a delicious bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. Mitsuba is a take out/dine in service restaurant. You order the food and then pick it up and eat it there or take it to go. They have good service and a nice small dining area. Mitsuba has other items on the menu I would be interested in trying when I go back. read more

Forever our favorite poke joint in Syracuse! Our go-to place to eat! It is so delicious and their topping options are best in the syracuse area. On a side note, I have noticed that when the female employees there make the order, the poke bowls are just beautiful (see picture included--gorgeous bowl!) Quick and easy walk in restaurant for the most part! Not a dark light dinner restaurant that we expected which was okay. Looked much more like a cafe. I ordered the Tokyo chicken ramen with garlic oil. I received what was pictured - the tonkatsu pork ramen that was okay. But not what I wanted. The lady who took our order I guess didn't understand me when I asked for the Tokyo ramen. It also took her 3 minutes to acknowledge that we were standing at the counter directly in front of her ready to order. This is primarily my reasoning for 3 stars. The pork buns were light and refreshing. The gyoza was great. Thai milk tea was refreshing and much needed. Great place for a lunch weekend meal. This was my wife and I's first time here, and the food did not disappoint. The dishes were delicious and flavorful. They had many different sauces and spices to add to your food as well. I put a lot of chili paste in mine. The KFC buns were amazing! It was my first time having buns before...so soft! The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. I was skeptical at first to try this place so I had gone to the Mitsuba in Camillus when they first opened three years ago. I wasn't sure what it was going to be like and I didn't want to repeat my last experience, since it wasn't great. I'm giving this place four stars because the food was excellent but the service was pretty slow for 6 o'clock on a Sunday night. The person making my burrito appeared to struggle quite a bit with figuring out how to stuff it all in. they should send him over to chipotle, LOL. The burrito it's self was fantastic, I did the make your own sushi burrito so I knew I would love the flavors, but the ingredients themselves were top quality (so 5 stars for that). If the service had been faster, I probably would consider this place for lunch time during the week since I work 2 miles away. I'll definitely be back but I don't know if I'll be back when there is a time crunch. Also we got the pork buns and those were very nice. You might not believe it but this was my first poke bowl ever and I was quite pleased with it. The ingredients were fresh and the portion was more then generous. My husband had the spicy miso ramen and he enjoyed it as well. I tasted the broth and in my opinion, it lacked flavour and it wasn't spicy at all. We also shared the KFC (Korean fried chicken) bun and that was the star of the show! It came to just under 37$. I would recommend this place :) read more
